Just because they had graciously ordered a Longchamp Le Pliage tote in navy for me. They stock a variety of the French nylon bags, but didn't have the elusive navy colorway in a large tote. The overly solicitous salesman put in the order, then attempted to lure me into trying on one of the many "On Sale" furs they have displayed. Um, no thanks. Can't you tell I'm a bartender, not an heiress? I just needed a big, water-resistant bag to hurl all my junk in to; not a dead animal garment that costs as much as my year's rent. Anyway, they called me when my bag arrived and I picked it up- and endured more futile coaxing in to one of their hideous hides.

They didn't answer or respond to emails and you can't leave a message. It has cost us more in time trying to get a response. No they can't do anything about the fire, etc. and we are so sad for the lost businesses. I'm sure they handled their claim to get what was due to them to make them whole since they own the building. We are only left with memories of being frustrated! Ferbers, you do have control over the customer service! You pay your insurance company, someone should have had the decency to contact your long time customers. Months have passed...still no payment! No matter the amount, now it's about how you treat those who have done business with you for years. We go out of our way to support small businesses especially during these times, but its service like this that makes us want to run to the big box stores.

While I feel horrible that the Philadelphia store was lost due to fire, I am horrified that I got a form letter stating my items were lost and they are only responsible for $100 through their insurance. They pull all the vintage items out of their donations and send them here to be up-charged to high heaven even though they acquired all the items for free! Ever wonder why you can't find affordable nice vintage pieces while at Goodwill anymore? It is because they were all sent here! They used to hide the fact that they were a Goodwill store super well, but recently I noticed that their POS system had the Goodwill logo, and when I asked the staff member about it she confirmed exactly what I'm saying. There are many other vintage stores that are curated and sourced all over the city. Support those small businesses who invest in their craft over Goodwill, a large corp that gets all its inventory for free.
