If you're lucky you might get this place on a good night but unfortunately after many occasions of good and bad experiences we have decided that our last experience would be the final bad experience. We ordered the curry pad Thai and spicy eggplant and both The curry and pad Thai were so spicy it was in edible and made my husband and I sick to our stomach's. We always order curry spicy number eight which we do know can come very spicy however we order this - at least several times a month and it has never been so disgusting Lee hot. The worst part of it is that the spicy eggplant that is supposed to be spicy was completely bland and not spicy. Because we eat there so often we naturally called to complain. Because we were sick we didn't want our food remade even though she only offered to remake the pad Thai since it wasn't supposed to be spicy. She actually argued with us that the Thai curry was as spicy as it always is which is sad because she did not understand that a happy customer is the most important thing. Drove from Lake Lure and it was worth it. Only about 25 minute drive for great Thai food and excellent service. I had Pad See Ew with shrimp and husband had basil fried rice. Both were wonderful. Having just moved back from San Diego, California, I feel like a bit of a Thai food critic. On every corner there's a Thai restaurant, so you're never short on places to sample. Almost all the Thai restaurants in San Diego are amazing. You can never go wrong. My dish of choice is yellow curry. Getting back to NC, I tried a place in King's Mountain and it was just terrible. Watery curry, no flavor. I was disappointed and figured I was in for a rude awakening that I would never find a place like my favorite Thai place in SoCal. After a trip to the mountains, myself and some friends stopped into Rutherford Thai to give it a shot. I of course ordered the yellow curry and was delighted when I was asked a spice level (if you aren't asked a spice level, that means most places use premade or packaged curry.) As soon as the curry hit my tongue, I felt like I was in SoCal. All of the vegetables inside were cooked to perfection and the curry was seasoned PERFECTLY. I'm not a spice guy, i get a zero, so I can't comment on how they do their spices, but just the flavor of the curry alone is amazing. This will definitely be my go to for Thai food from now on, even if it's around 35-40 minutes from my house. Worth it! read more

I have been a returning customer here for 4 years. Simply because of the fact that I liked the food. However the food is not good enough to look past how horrible this restaurant and the people who own it are. I ordered garden rolls and discovered napkin pieces inside. I let my server know, who was polite about the matter. Immediately after, one of the ladies that owns the restaurant stormed over to my table. Practically yelling at me in the middle of my dinner, with my two little sisters, she demanded that she was not responsible and that I would still be paying for it, and on top of that she was going to charge me for my refills. That is no way to run a business, and the ladies that own the restaurant have no clue in hell how to run a business. Several times I have made the mistake of coming in when the usual servers are not working and it is just one of the ladies that owns the restaurant who is serving instead. In those cases the service is incredibly horrible. I have waited an hour before even receiving a menu. And if the lady from the kitchen is serving then forget getting a refill. I have come in before and seen groups of people sitting at multiple booths all waiting for menus. One specific occasion I was waiting with a friend and a couple came in and sat down and the lady took their order before ours even though we had been there long enough and she had walked by us enough times to know we had arrived first. Multiple times I have ordered food to-go 20 minutes in advance and I arrive to an empty restaurant and my meal is not even ready. Everything use to be $8.95, then the price changed to $9.95 now shrimp is $11.95, I can't for the life of me understand why they keep raising their prices when the quality of the restaurant has been in a continuous decline. They lost a loyal customer I will NEVER be returning and I encourage others to do the same. read more

This is a great little restaurant, and has some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten, and I've been to Thailand and all over Asia. The owner is sweetest lady, and her friend who acts as the hostess is just as nice. The food is wonderful. The homemade springrolls are delicious. The garden rolls are incredible. Their drunken noodles are exceptional. The Phad Thai is the best I've ever had. My kids love their chicken and steak rice dishes, and we tasted them and they were very good. My wife usually orders the red curry, and it is out of this world. Their prices are fair. We've often eaten Thai in Hendersonville and Asheville, but suprisingly Rutherfordton has the best Thai restaurant in this area. read more

I just moved within driving distance to this restaurant, so I have only been here once. They have many options for vegetarians/vegans.Got the Pad Thai and it was very good. It wasn't sweet like many other Thai restaurants make it. It tasted home cooked (but I am no expert on Thai food). Definitely fresh veggies and I don't think they use jarred sauces. The portions fairly large and the price was right. I'm definitely going to come back and try other dishes. read more

Beware: the food is not as described. One of my business customers recommended them, so I checked online reviews and actually went there three days ahead of time to check the menu. On 6-14-2014, We had five items: one was excellent and four were very disappointing. There were four tables in the restaurant on a Saturday night at 7PM. Only one employee on duty. She was the waitress-hostess-cashier-busboy. Before we left another two tables came in and others left. The beef salad was very good and the visual presentation excellent. This was exactly what we expected from a Thai restaurant. Both soups were very bland even though I had requested mine to be hot. Adequate shrimp and squid, but no flavor. The chicken sate was way overcooked. Now for the crispy duck. That is why we went there. We were expecting a 8-10oz BONELESS duck breast served with a "medium thick brown sauce/gravy" the quote was the description given to us prior to our visit. Virtually every Thai version we have ever seen had some assortment of cashews, mushrooms, peas etc in the sauce. What was served was a half duck. Approximately 10-12oz of leg, thigh, bone and breast meat. The breast meat portion was about 4 oz It was not breaded in any way so therefore no crispy coating. There was some colorless liquid on the bottom of the platter. We think it was water which bled off from the vegetables which we did not eat. No sign of any sauce/gravy. Upon paying, I expressed my disappointment. We had five items and four were disappointing. I would have said something sooner, but the waitress never checked on us after we got the entrée. She was overwhelmed serving four tables. Her response was "I'm sorry, you should have asked me for hot sauce for the soup" and that was it. 2 appetizers, 2 soups and one entrée was $50. It was so disappointing that my wife asked to stop at a convenience store on the way home to get a snack. If only all the food there could be like the beef salad..................... read more
