Pad Thai - Chicken, extra peanuts

Wowzers! We first tried Rutherford Thai before the pandemic. Unfortunately it's taken us several years to go back and I'm so glad we did! We started with appetizers - the spring rolls were hot, fresh, and crispy and the sauce was delightful. The Curry Puffs - delicious, a sweet/savory combo that left us wanting more. The Yum Nua - had a spicy lime dressing, nice kick of heat and just an explosion of flavors on your taste buds. We got the chicken Pad Thai as the main and again, delightfully delicious. We went on a Saturday about 5, the place was busy and buzzing and the servers were working quickly, our food came out quick, hot and with a smile. You can tell the family takes pride in their presentation, flavors and overall service - we cant wait to go back and try more!

Braised duck with ginger sauce. Also available with chili sauce.

Excellent food as pretty as it is delicious. Cozy atmosphere, kind folks running the place. Quick service. We will return soon.

nothing special like the raves I have read. a small cozy place with maybe ten tables. ambience is very simple...no big deal. Service was very good. The wonton soup came out very hot which was nice. The wontons were very small with not much flavor. I had the shrimp dish with rice. I wasn't aware it contained fruit(apple and pineapple) and cashew nuts. The shrimp was excellent. I don't like having to peel off the tails. it was on a bed of mushy fried rice. it was an ample portion. I had a side order of fried rice. Again, it was mushy and lacked flavor. Had to add a lot of soy sauce to make it palatable. The menu is very limited. I don't believe I would go back.

Spring rolls and Pineapple fried rice! Yum!

So happy we found this little gem. Excellent food and service. So friendly. Best spring rolls and pineapple fried rice anywhere. And the dipping sauce is amazing. We will be back. Pat and Cindy from Shelby

The best Drunken Noodles I've ever eaten! The Pad Thai is also amazing. Definitely my "go to" place for great Thai food.

But for Landrum to have a decent Thai restaurant (and they have sushi) is a big deal. I'm reviewing 3 stars for now, did not get to try the sushi and other menu items. The restaurant is situated in the middle of the block set in the quaint, small downtown of Landrum. The sushi is prepared in the back, in an open sushi style traditional display, but no seating right there. The restaurant is clean, moderately bright, and the tables can be arranged for parties of 8, we were four. I did think the tables were a little too close together. During our meal, an adjacent four top was seated and while they were not disturbing us, the tiny waitress was bumping into me as she took their order or delivered food, enough so that I had to be aware of it so as to not accidentally wave an arm and knock a drink or plate from her hand. Our service was attentive. Pricing is reasonable for food, but I did think $14 for an 8 ounce hot sake was steep. I tried the Larb Gai level 6 and the presentation and arrangement of the dish made it easy to eat as lettuce wraps with crisp iceberg and the fresh flavors. It was well balanced and the right heat but slightly dry. A side container of a couple of additional tablespoons of the Thai dressing would be a good idea. My Tom Yum Soup entree size was ample enough for leftovers. It is very flavorful but on the sweet side comparatively to many other TY soups I've had. My protein choice was chicken and heat level 6 of 10. It seemed that everyone's dishes were slightly hotter than expected, even our friends who regularly order the same dishes felt that way. My 6 was more like an 8 and I'm a hot head eater. This often happens as variance in pepper heat in stir fry or in chef to chef variance in spice profile. I would suggest order lower and adjust up to your taste. We arrived early, 5:15 and left 7:15 and were not rushed. The restaurant was moderately busy as it was a Friday. I'm told reservations are recommended. 3 stars means "A-OK" and that is where this landed. No disappointments and also no stand out experiences, but we would dine here again.

The spice level option was also different. I'm used to having chilli oil on the table and I can put as much as I want. The levels, 1-5, doesn't really allow me to experiment with the spice. Secondly, I had to get my own water, and put up my dishes when I was done. THAT was different. Lastly, the pho brother was not what I was used to. It didn't have that authentic taste and beefy taste. It wasn't bad but it definitely tasted like it already had hoisin and siracha in it. And the white onions were definitely cut too thick and so much in my pho. On top of that, the broth was a little foggy. 1-10, the broth would be a 6 for me. I didn't order anything else because pho is my to go. Go try it out and see what you think! 2.5-3 overall everything.

I can't rave enough about the flavor and service at Boon Choo... the owner and all the staff is always welcoming and friendly and the food is so yummy... the Panang curry is so good, I could eat the curry as a soup by itself!
