Bourbon pork chop was very bland. The apple chutney was fantastic but the grits needed salt. Service was very slow. Took forever to get refills and our check. read more

Everything tasted really great and service was very friendly! Would eat here again! The Gingers Revenge was a refreshing, slightly spicy ginger beer! read more

Small restaurant in the Tryon complex There were 5 in our party. Seated immediately. I went in to check out the fresh fish in the glass display case. Very neat and looks very fresh. The chef came out and asked if i had any questions. There were four plates on the counter ready to be sent out an I asked about them. He was very nice and explained each one We all got different rolls. Each was beautifully presented I was very impressed with the service and the food. We will be back read more

Cute little place with an outdoor patio and great food! I find it really interesting that all drinks are served from a bottle, my guess is they're trying to go for that European feel. The seaweed salad was great, but an extremely small portion. The miso soup, divine! I tried the ebi10 roll and the Wellington roll, both were great! I just really loved the overall experience and location. The guys making the sushi were really friendly and you could tell they enjoyed what they were doing and not just going through the motion. read more

So as promised we went back for date night this week. I ordered the Tuna Hanna even though I wanted to stick with the delicious Starfish I know and love. Y'all ain't ready for this!!!The pounded tuna was the most tender piece of meat I have ever put in my mouth. The presentation was amazing (as knew it would be) but each delicate bite had a unique flavor depending on which of the 5 different sauces clung to the delicate meat swirled around it. The smoked flavor of the tobiko intertwined with the nutty goodness of the lightly dressed seaweed salad, creamy crab salad and silky avocado was heaven in my mouth. You need to go taste one of James' masterpieces, you will not be disappointed. read more

Very disappointed. We have been here many times and it's been great. However this time was horrible. We came to listen to the music. Unfortunately the food wasn't that great. Service horrible for not being busy. Ordered miso soup, it actually smelled bad. I'm worried that I will be sick later. I had to walk in to order this, as the waitress had disappeared. (Only 2 tables outside and one at the sushi bar). I asked for a glass for a beer and 15 mins later, i had to walk in to ask again. The sushi ordered, the taste was good but it must have been a new sushi roller because it was very sloppy. This makes me sad because in the past I have really enjoyed the experience and the food. Last but not least the construction equipment in the front was ridiculous. Creating a safety hazard to get into the restaurant. I gave it 2 stars because the kirin beer and poke bowl was the only good thing about the experience. $136 for a little sake, 3 beers, 2 salad dishes and 2 sushi rolls was NOT worth the money. read more

As a visitor of the area, I was happy to run across this restaurant by mistake. We were meant to go to the diner across the way, but there was a wait. As we walked around, we noticed this sushi restaurant. Coming from an extremely diverse part of CA where we have sushi all of the time, we are sushi snobs. But I can say that this place does not disappoint! We ordered different rolls and noodles and everyone enjoyed their food. The presentation was pretty. The food came quickly and the waitress was friendly. It wasn't crowded the day we went. A bit out of the way (considering it's in Tryon Equestrian Center), but it's a great place to go if you are in the mood for sushi. read more

I have had many visits to Blue Ginger over the past two years and each time the food and presentation were fantastic. I have seen the word "pricey" in some of the reviews, but coming from the northeast I can tell you the price and quality is on par with most establishments in this food category. As for hospitality, it is great! James and Yaya and team ensure your experience is top notch. Now I can say for those of you visiting on a very busy Equestrian event day, supplemental staff are used and may not know the menu perfectly well. If you have questions on the menu simply ask if the chef behind the sushi counter can elaborate for you. James and associates have always welcomed conversation while preparing their creations. read more

Best sushi place ever. I didn't like the ramen but that's my opinion. The employees are very nice and the food is always fresh.

I stopped in for lunch while driving on US Highway 74. Delicious. Fresh garden salad with sesame dressing and a salmon roll. Wonderful fresh food in a beautiful location. Lovely screened porch for outside dining. In and out in 30 minutes. Back on the road feeling much better having not had fast food. read more

I recommend Blue Ginger for a truly authentic meal. I hidden gem at TIEC. They have dishes that will fit all tastes from sushi to Non-sushi Order the scallops! read more

OK so I'm leaving this review a year or so after eating here, but I have to because what I'm leaving the review on is probably one of the best things I've ever ate! My husband and I went here and opted to try the fresh scallop! It was ONE OF THE MOST PHENOMENAL THINGS I'VE ATE EVER EATEN, IF NOT THE BEST THING! It was absolutely amazing! We still talk about it!!! We are def foodies and love to try new things. We've been to several other counties so we've no stranger to different foods, but this is by far one of our favorites!!! GO TRY THIS!!! read more

I've been a fan of James ever since he was in Atlanta so I couldn't pass up an opportunity to eat here while in Asheville. The restaurant is cozy and nice. The food was amazing as usual. I would highly recommend to any sushi lovers in the area. read more

Way over priced for the quality. The sushi is okay but don't even think about straying from sushi as the other choices are bland and very low quality. Unfortunately, there is no other sushi restaurant within 30 miles, so there is no competition or other option. I would skip Blue Ginger, it will only lead to buyers remorse. read more

Blue Ginger - what can I say other than Phenomenal!! Great food, Great Service and Atmosphere-all in the middle of the new Tyron International Equestrian Center...easily accessible. Traditional Japanese Sushi with a modern flair! A "must try" ~ you won't be disappointed!!!! read more

The service was horrible. Must of been short staffed and they wouldn't let me order an extra roll for my daughter bc she wasn't at the table. Also the sushi was ok. The portion is small and not impressive at all. read more

We loved this little gem!!! The sushi was AWESOME, very fresh with a nice combination of flavors. My wife enjoyed her Ramen with shrimp and chicken. Interesting combo she picked, but she loved it. Definitely planning to return!!! read more

It was good for mountain sushi. ;) We enjoyed the food, but the atmosphere was just okay. It was really bright with harsh lighting and somewhat sterile feeling, but the staff was nice. Four for food and three for atmosphere. read more

Not because of the food. It's pretty good actually. Not like OMG best I've ever had but definitely better than The Fresh Market. And good enough I ate here 3 times over a long weekend. Then there was today. Put myself on the hour long wait during the World Equestrian Games (not surprisingly) walked in no one was waiting and just a few ppl in the place. Went to place my order for two rolls and said I wanted them to go (I'm working at WEG) and they said they couldn't make it to go. REALLY????? You did yesterday. And I tipped you 15% for to go. This was my whole plan for food for the next two weeks. Freaking Jerks. Guess you don't want my repeat business even after WEG!!!! read more

Thank you James and Yaya for a terrific evening. As always a great meal and atmosphere will be back.

Came on a Saturday night and the food was fantastic...the facility's "house band", however, sounded like bad karaoke

They just have one 'sushi' chef. Waited 1.5 hrs during lunch on a Saturday. 2nd time. We weren't the only ones saying they know this but dont do a thing about it. Thats's it. read more

Disappointing, sushi rolls were not tightly rolled. This makes the rolls fall apart easily and made them difficult to eat.

Ridiculously understaffed, overpriced, and slow. Two hour wait for food. If they're going to operate during large events, wouldn't it make sense to anticipate demand??! Like much of Tryon's food and amenities, its a total disaster in planning. read more

My go to place at the equestrian center. I love sushi and they easily make my top 3 restaurants for quality!
