(There is a distinction between authentic Chinese food and American Chinese food - having been raised with American Chinese food and having eaten authentic Chinese food in China, my taste much prefers American Chinese) Now, I live in Greenville, SC but do regular errands in Hendersonville and just found this restaurant today. Today, I bought dinner from China Garden. It was surprisingly good. When we lived in Hickory, we frequented Golden China which made a terrific General Tso's Chicken. I would say that tonight's meal was almost as good! The only deficiency is that there could've been much more broccoli. The place is takeout only, and the setup is funky. You get the food and pay through a window with a slide drawer. Kind of weird. I bought 2 General Tso Chicken combo dinners. My wife and I ate just one of them and it was more than enough. So, we have dinner for tomorrow. The cost of each dinner was 8 bucks! Where else can you feed 2 adults for $8? We will be back for sure! read more

When I first visited back in December, I was sure that this was my new go-to spot for Chinese in Hendersonville, especially for veggie dishes. A couple weeks ago, I noticed that the Moo shu veggie didn't seem quite as robust as it had before, but it was still tasty. But tonight I got a large veggie lo mein and had to search for the veggies in it; it was almost all noodle. I know that food costs have gone up for everyone -- they have in fact raised their prices also -- but this is truly ridiculous and not a solution that will motivate me to return. read more

Awesome lunch, cooked perfectly but the meat I ordered is not what I got. I ordered a beef dish but got shrimp instead. There was a lot of shrimp (4 large) for lunch, cooked to perfection. But I think the sweet young lady couldn't understand English well enough. Stopped here on the way to home from South Carolina. A few mins from I-26. Small and clean place at a strip mall. Good food at a very reasonable price. You order and pay and they bring the food to you. Almost all foods are below $6. The fried rice comes with pork but you can get the rice without pork. Recommended. read more

I would like to give them a higher rating, their food is great. What holds me back is that the last two times my husband & I were there to dine there were tables that were left uncleaned. After patrons had dined the table weren't cleaned off. One table had a rag on the table with dirty dishes. I believe it is basically a take out restaurant even though there are approximately 12 tables. Also, there was plywood on one window where the window was no longer. I have been getting my Curry Chicken from China Garden in Hendersonville, NC, for years. It is one of the best. Tender, thinly sliced meat, vegetables galore including lots of bright green broccoli florets, mushrooms, and oh my, that curry sauce. I have the same dish about once a week. Super healthy and satisfying. My kids love the Chicken Lo Mein and egg rolls. Not all Chinese Curry Chicken is equal. When at work I sometimes order this from a different Chinese take-out and it is not nearly as good - the sauce is less flavorful, the meat is curled up with more fat and is a bit rubbery. I have experienced this at other Chinese restraints too. Not so with China Garden! So glad I live within 15 minutes of this restraunt. read more

Cheap if that is what you are looking for. We recently moved to North Carolina and were looking for good Chinese food in the Hendersonville area. We stumbled upon China Garden, and while the staff is nice, I would expect that at any service based establishment. The chicken is nothing but nuggets purchased in bulk. After my order was taken by the only English speaking employee, he handled the money, took other orders etc.. then proceeds to use his bare hands to pick up a handful of nuggets and throw them in the fryer. I am pretty sure that is a health code violation and honestly made me sick. I know that is probably done at a lot of food establishments, however I don't need to see it. read more
