we love soulisas! it's always a staple for my husband and i. just recently we went for a light birthday lunch. we started out with the spring rolls which you can never go wrong with. and then we decided to try the "perfect bites" they were sooo yummy. nice buttery salmon topped with salmon roe and ponzu sauce. definitely worth a try. for our main we shared the seafood drunken noodles at a 4 spice level and it was perfectly cooked. the shrimp and scallops were awesome. our server was phenomenal. he was very informative and helpful about choices. and of course the ambiance is always so nice. it's always such a relaxing place to eat. read more

Our first visit with friends who are regulars. This is their nearby Thai and I would be a frequent diner here too were it closer to home. It's 40 minutes away. But for Landrum to have a decent Thai restaurant (and they have sushi) is a big deal. I'm reviewing 3 stars for now, did not get to try the sushi and other menu items. The restaurant is situated in the middle of the block set in the quaint, small downtown of Landrum. The sushi is prepared in the back, in an open sushi style traditional display, but no seating right there. The restaurant is clean, moderately bright, and the tables can be arranged for parties of 8, we were four. I did think the tables were a little too close together. During our meal, an adjacent four top was seated and while they were not disturbing us, the tiny waitress was bumping into me as she took their order or delivered food, enough so that I had to be aware of it so as to not accidentally wave an arm and knock a drink or plate from her hand. Our service was attentive. Pricing is reasonable for food, but I did think $14 for an 8 ounce hot sake was steep. I tried the Larb Gai level 6 and the presentation and arrangement of the dish made it easy to eat as lettuce wraps with crisp iceberg and the fresh flavors. It was well balanced and the right heat but slightly dry. A side container of a couple of additional tablespoons of the Thai dressing would be a good idea. My Tom Yum Soup entree size was ample enough for leftovers. It is very flavorful but on the sweet side comparatively to many other TY soups I've had. My protein choice was chicken and heat level 6 of 10. It seemed that everyone's dishes were slightly hotter than expected, even our friends who regularly order the same dishes felt that way. My 6 was more like an 8 and I'm a hot head eater. This often happens as variance in pepper heat in stir fry or in chef to chef variance in spice profile. I would suggest order lower and adjust up to your taste. We arrived early, 5:15 and left 7:15 and were not rushed. The restaurant was moderately busy as it was a Friday. I'm told reservations are recommended. 3 stars means "A-OK" and that is where this landed. No disappointments and also no stand out experiences, but we would dine here again. read more

Out for lunch while working. The service was good, the food was just okay, the price tag was alittle on high side. The restroom needs some repairs. It paper towel dispenser does not work and people are grabbing a whole roll of paper towels to rip pieces off making the paper towels look soiled. The sink also has a sign about not leaning on it? The atmosphere was calm, warm, and inviting--one of those places where you can actually relax and enjoy your time. The staff was genuinely kind and attentive, not just going through the motions. That kind of service is rare. I ordered the dumplings, teriyaki chicken, and a spider roll--everything was fresh, flavorful, and made with care. You can taste the difference. As a retired Air Force veteran, I don't take good service or a good experience for granted. Soulisa's got it right. I left full in more ways than one. Great food, great people, great energy. The food was good but there were a couple of things that were concerning. I had the specialty duck curry. The duck was over cooked and became chewy. There was far to much green and ref pepper in the dish. My wife had the basil dish with beef and it was good except for, again, there was far too much green and red pepper in the vegetable mix. The curry itself was very good, and the sause on my wife's dish was also very tasty. We will go again, but I will likely not have the duck, more likely a red or panang curry with chicken or shrimp. read more

It's More Than the EXCELLENT Food, My Mom and I have gone there at least once a week for the last year or two. She loves it! So do I! Recently, she was diagnosed with terminal cancer and is in Hospice. She requested her favorite from Soulisa's as one of her last meals (for take out). When I ordered, they knew me and I told them of the situation. When I went to pick up her meal, they would not take my money and wished her and me well! That was some AMAZING GRACE! I was somewhat disappointed with the quality and flavor of the food. Tina had the drunken noodles with chicken and I had the pad thai with chicken and shrimp. We also shared the shrimp spring rolls which were a bit better than average and large portion. I've eaten thai from NY to DC to LA and in-between. I was hopeful for a place named Thai Fine Dining but sadly it didn't quite get there. It simply didn't have the seasoning, spice and flavor of next level Thai. It was OK. We went on a Wednesday night around 530p and it was very busy. Probably because most of the restaurants in the town of Tryon are closed on Monday and Tuesday. The service was outstanding and that alone was 5 star. Parking can be a challenge at busy times, there is limited amount of street parking nearby. Because it gets busy it also gets very loud. Don't expect to have a quiet conversation with the person across the table from you because it's not happening at prime time. read more

I recently moved to the surrounding area and this is the only Thai place within 20 to 30 mins of drive time. I previously tried this establishment before I moved to the area and had a subpar experience. With the first experience, sushi menu was not a wide variety (especially cooked options), but did seem fresh. Both Thai dishes were nothing to sing home about, slightly bland but edible. Hubby ordered a noodle dish and I ordered a curry dish. My husband ordered pork with his dish and I had chicken. I felt I had an adequate amount of chicken in my meal, but my husband's dish had almost a sprinkle of pork. Normally, we are not complainers, but for around $17 for the dish, that was ridiculous. We did not say anything, because we chalked it up to a first time experience. Service was slow, but the server was attentive. The second experience was with a friend of mine whom insisted on going and giving it another try because she wanted Thai food and didn't want to drive. We arrived on a slower day. There were only about two seated tables and two people at the bar (either ordering or waiting for their takeout). The hostess sat us at the two seater directly next to where people pickup their to-go orders. Grant you, the establishment was light in patrons. Within the first 10 minutes, multiple people came in to pick up their to-go orders and they had to stand directly next to our table. We asked to move since the restaurant had plenty of open tables. They moved us but with hesitation in the beginning. We were only asking to move a table over. Already I'm slightly annoyed. My friend ordered a beef fried rice and I ordered a stir-fry with chicken. AGAIN, my friend's order was lacking in protein amount. My meal seemed appropriate but overall it was light because the meat was cut up in smaller pieces. This was the second time this happened within a month's period. Both times, the bill was around $60 with the add-ons. Their dishes are overpriced for what you are receiving and watered down in flavoring. As an establishment, they can charge what they want and give what they want because they are the only game in town. I will definitely not be going back there and I don't recommend this restaurant if you want quality value out of your meal. If you are willing to drive towards Hendersonville, Khao Thai and Sawasdee Thai are excellent options. Spartanburg has few great options as well. For me, the drive is worth it. read more

I had the green curry with chicken with the #4 heat level and my wife had the chicken hibachi. Both were very good and my wife noted that the vegetables were cooked correctly, not overcooked like many places. Our server, Joe, was busy but still efficient, attentive and a little sassy! We got a reservation for our anniversary. We had been to this restaurant before it was great. On this visit the food was okay. The place needs to be a bit more sanitized. The noise level was really loud. In top of that ending up paying for the wrong check. Of course overpaid for animal protein that we don't eat. Called the restaurant spoke to the manager and he stated basically next time you must check the itemized bill that by the way was not attached to the check until the server brought it back with it. Really solid choice for Sushi and Thai in the area, you will not be disappointed. Great menu options, efficient service and gorgeous decor. My family was in the area and we were surprised to find both Sushi and Thai restaurants in this smaller town. How surprised were we when they were located in the same restaurant. The menu was vast, so you will no trouble finding your diet needs like Vegan, Vegetarian or Gluten Free and all of your Thai favorites are there and the Sushi had some items I had not had before. We went after the lunch rush, so we had no trouble getting a table. There is parking out from, but it is limited so you may have to park a block or do away. But you want to hear about the FOOD, so here we go: Seaweed salad - light serving, but really DELICIOUS. Vegetarian Curry - good, soupy broth and crisp veggies Spring Rolls - light and crispy, wonderful chili sauce Cherry Blossom Roll - my FAVORITE, could eat a dozen of these. Bento Boxes - plenty of food, which suited the big eaters in our group. Sushi - our group got a smattering of Philadelphia, California, Veggie and other rolls and the presentation on each was really done well. Our server, Joe, was efficient and a whirlwind of activity. If you happen to be passing through Landrum, this little Thai place is definitely worth a stop! It's located right in the heart of downtown, so you can enjoy the local shops as well. Parking is fairly easy and free if you drive behind the restaurant. We dropped in on a whim on a busy Saturday night, so it wasn't fast, but it was worth the wait. I had egg rolls and the classic chicken pad Thai and would easily order either one again. Our server Seth was very kind, efficient, and knowledgeable about the dishes. He found the perfect balance between moving quickly to serve multiple tables and taking the time to be friendly. Everything was terrific and we hope to try to the sushi next time. We were seated in a window seat overlooking the street. That was a plus. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The dining room has sorta outdated decor but we're more interested in the food quality and price. I ordered the drunken noodles and it was outstanding. A little high priced though. My wife ordered a ginger plate of some type. Actually had big chunks of ginger too. A little more ginger than we expected. Overall it was a good meal with good atmosphere and real quiet at this time of the evening. Overall the prices are kinda high but it seems like everyone is going up these days. The food was fine. My husband did order a dish which was too hot for his taste. He couldnt eat it at all. It's a Thai restaurant. We get it. We called the waiter over, explained the situation, and I had to come up with a resolution. I suggested we take off the toppings ,(shrimp and scallops) which I did myself and cook him some more pasta with no seasoning. I kept the topping and wiped them off the best I could. The server promptly brought the new pasta out and I replaced his dish. Problem solved. He ate it and was happy. The issue we had was the bill. The actually charged us an additional $4.00 for the replacement pasta. How trivial. We certainly did not expect the dish to be remade but to charge extra for the pasta was hilarious. And why not make a visit to the table by the manager to make sure everything was good at that point. When we left, I told my husband the food was good, atmosphere was fine, but the $4.00 closed the door for me. All on principle. read more
