Soup dumplings, bbq pork buns, cold handpulled vegetable noodles. Yum!
    Lisa M.

My kids picked this place on a whim because they love baos and dumplings. It was a hit! We got the Bbq pork buns and soup dumplings and both hit the spot. I got the handpulled cold vegetable noodles and they were everything I could hope for on a warm day! The ambience? Um, let's just say it's authentic to my experience with relatives in China. Glamorous, it is not. Hole in the wall is a better fit. The food is solid, though, fresh and good portions.

Authentic noodles and great for a quick and casual meal. I was surprised by the spice level of the spicy beef hot pot, the Szechuan peppers were strong and numbing. I would definitely get less spicy if you can't handle spice. The noodles with minced pork and soy bean paste (zhajiangmian) was also very savory and tasted authentic. Our food was brought out to us and there was a self serve station with utensils and sauces.

Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 I've had my fair share of Chinese and Taiwanese style beef noodle soups, and I feel like I've been able to take away something standout from all of them. Whether it's the noodles, the tender beef shank, or savory soup, I always have something to smile about. For Ruyi, it feels like there's something missing - the meat wasn't bad but not quite tender enough, the soup felt a bit on the weaker side of flavor intensity, and the noodles, while a lot of love definitely was poured into pulling them, lacked the chew that really defines these types of noodles. Maybe I just came on a bad day, or maybe I'm just spoiled from having this type of soup from so many good places. I'd love to be proven wrong and change my mind - happy to give this place a second try. There's definitely a lot of effort and soul put into this shop - I'd love to see it grow and improve.

A no frills noodles mom & pop shop serving up freshly made noodles! Reminded me of the no frills noodles I had in China, although I've never been to Lanzhou. The beef noodles I got had lots of beef and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The portions were generous and neither my bf nor I could finish our bowl of noodles. We definitely left stuffed and satisfied! Would've loved to try the scallion pancakes and the dumplings. If I lived here, I'd be here every week! There's plenty of seating inside and the service was fast and friendly.

Came on a weekday dinner to order to go. It's in a convenient location on state street walking distance from campus. It seemed relatively empty for dinner time. You order up front rather than table service. I ordered the braised beef noodles to go. Ambiance: Service: 4/5 Food came out relatively quickly. I appreciated that they separated the noodles from the soup in the to go container Food: 5/5 It absolutely delicious. The slight unevenness of the noodles indicated they were hand pulled. They had the perfect amount of chew. Adding the spring onions and chili oil made the broth absolutely delicious Price: 5/5 It was a pretty affordable restaurant. Definitely will be back whenever I'm in town! I would highly recommend this place!

I got the braised beef noodles and it hit the spot on a cold, snowy day. The beef was tender and noodles were nice a chewy. I just wish there was a little less fat on the beef, otherwise, yummy!

It is a tiny but charming establishment. My friends and I walked in and were instantly hit by amazing smells and a good vibe. We got there before usual dinner time so we definitely got our food pretty quickly! The woman who took our order was very kind and patient. She helped us if we didn't know exactly what something was. In the end though the food was amazing! I'm not a huge fan of broth but it was super delicate and savory. The meat was not fatty and the flavors were mixing very well. I would definitely come back, and recommend to others.

Red other reviews about the hand pulled noodles so wanted to give it a try. The hand pulled noodles had good chew to them. The broth was not very robust in flavor. It had spice from the chili oil and the tingling from the peppercorn but not much besides that. The beef was shaved pretty thin and not any fat to and the portion was quite small. Should have maybe done the beef tendon instead. The pickled cucumbers for me were the highlight. Had great flavor, salty, sweet and a little crunch to it. Also ordered the Xiao long bao. The wrapper had nice texture to it and pork flavor was strong and meat was moist. There was not much soup inside and was more like a dumpling in that aspect but the skin was soft and it had good flavor. Overall it was tasty. Inside it is a little rundown and our table had one leg that was shorter than the other so it rocked back and forth. The table tops were also a little sticky. As for parking there is paid street parking around the blocks and if you walk a few blocks over there are neighborhoods with permit parking but some free hours and days.

I have to say, their hand pulled noodles are delicious! The individual noodles are of all different thicknesses, which is a tell-tail sign that their noodles are indeed hand pulled. They are perfectly cooked and a great chewy texture. I deducted one star because I felt like the meat in my beef noodle soup was just ok. It had a good flavor but was a little dry and too lean for my taste. This restaurant has so much potential! It could be one of the best in the area if it just strengthened the rest of their ingredients to match the excellence of their noodles. This is a small shop (although seating is decently plentiful with two floors). It is a little difficult to find parking in the immediately vicinity but lots of free or paid parking spots approx 4-5 blocks out.

Ruyi Hand Pulled Noodle is a small, casual, and convenient Northern Chinese Noodle shop with affordable pricing centrally located on State Street very close to the Wisconsin state capitol and close to University of Wisconsin. They specialize in authentic handmade pulled noodles which is an art form of noodle making that originated from Lanzhou, China. They also serve cold noodles, traditional Chinese appetizers, hot pot, dumplings, and sweet buns. You can also get other types of noodles besides hand pulled noodles such as rice noodles or udon noodles! The real star of the show is their spicy beef and braised beef noodle soup! Their soup was satisfying and delicious! The noodles in the spicy beef noodle soup had the perfect amount of chewy texture but springy. The broth was not too spicy just the right amount of kick with a nice beef seasoned broth with rich umami flavor! They supply other condiments if you would like to add more spiciness or flavor! This is a great small casual place where you order at the front and the service is fast with your order shortly ready! Definitely try Ruyi Hand Pulled Noodle because there are not too many authentic hand pulled noodle shops and this place is very unique!

The waiter was pretty attentive, clearing out the empty plates quickly so we can make more room. The food comes out pretty quick, with a little robot bringing everything to us. Overall, I would definitely go here again if I go back to Madison. The food was great, especially the bulgogi beef and cried pork.

I sat down with my friend expecting what Im used to - I tell her we have to get a tom yum soup base and a beef broth base. They hand us the menu and... yep, beef broth, but no tom yum! I made a remark about it being a bummer it wasnt there, and was about to order the mushroom instead. But this very kind waiter overheard and very excitedly told us he'd be able to do tom yum!! For that - 12 stars. It was delicious. The beef bone broth was also stellar, i even grabbed a few spoonfuls just to drink straight up! Service is split between a waiter and a robo-water, which was interesting. You order your broth, then you can order through the phone app all you want for the table. Dont worry, you can keep ordering as you eat! So dont order it all rightaway. Youll run outta table space, hehe! Theres a small sauce bar and fruit bar and a cooler with drinks. Theres was also mini ice cream but by god we were STUFFED at the end and didnt get a shot at trying them. We ordered lamb, crab sticks, bok choy, enoki, broccoli, more bok choy, some rice, crab sticks, kimchi, more bok choy... you get it. Not my best plunder (i swear im usually adventurous) but i wanted basic GREENS today for some reason. Long winded way to say - good job Fuki!! Im impressed!! Thank you for the tom yum and fun experience.

Our waiter came by and learned that we had not been to this hot pot, so he walked us through the process. Like other hot pots I have been to, they have a sauce station with various ingredients and directions for making a number of sauces and you pick your broth(s) in advance, and they bring it to your table. You can have two separate broths in each pot using a divider. But this was different in that this is an All You Can Eat (AYCE) Hot Pot. Other Hot Pots also have options for AYCE noodles and maybe potato or sweet potato, but this was AYCE for everything including appetizers, vegetables, seafood, and meats. It was $35 per person which seemed high at first but once you realize how much food you can get it is well worth it. We started by ordering some appetizers. Honestly, I probably could have made a meal just w/those. We tried pot-stickers, pork egg rolls, fried chicken teriyaki, and shrimp dumplings. I wasn't' a huge fan of the egg rolls, they coating was pretty dense, but everything else was great. When I go back, I'd like to try the pork buns. We ordered our first set of meats as well as rice which they bring to you and then headed up to the refrigerators where they keep the vegetables, additional meats, seafood and noodles. I won't list all of the options, check out their menu, but suffice it to say it was truly impressive. I was really pleased w/the quality of the food including the seafood like squid, shrimp and fish balls. I also loved the variety of vegetables including lotus root, black fungus, enoki and king oyster mushrooms, Bok-choy, napa, and broccoli. It's a fun dining experience to cook your food in the broth. My favorite was the spicy marrow. We ordered more appetizers and more rice. There are some options for dessert but other than the custard bun I didn't try any. Honestly there were so many options to choose from, but I was so full by the time I left that I didn't try even a quarter of the different items. I would definitely go back to Hot Pot 608. A fun, tasty, and filling dining experience.

He was right--we couldn't even finish it! The restaurant space is quite large, and most of the customers seemed to be students from the nearby area.
