Pretty good Asian noodle spot right in downtown. First thing you notice is that over half the piece eating here are speaking Chinese, which is always a good sign lol. You order at the front and then just wait for your food to come to you. I got the handpulled jajamian, which was a a bowl of noodles with a black bean sauce and minced meat and some vegetables. The flavor was pretty good, and I enjoyed the noodle texture. Only complaint was that the bowl portion was not the biggest. If it was 50% bigger, I think I would've felt full from an empty stomach. As it is, it sits somewhere between a snack and a meal. If you're not super hungry or are willing to order more, this place is a good one to check out. read more

Man are these noodles fresh. You'll know what I'm talking about when you eat them. They're the perfect balance between bouncy and chewy. They aren't skimpy on the meat or veggies so you definitely get what you pay for. The spare ribs pretty much just melt off the bone. It's pretty easy to screw up a scallion pancake but they nail it every time. Friendly and quick takeout service during COVID, even on a busy Friday night. The only reason for 4 stars is that their broth can be very salty and their scallion pancakes are quite greasy. But still overall great food and service. read more

They have the best noodles in Madison's downtown. I always get the spicy beef with hand-pulled noodles, along with the pork dumplings. The broth is delicious and enough to take home to add your own noodles and meat to once you finish your meal at Ruyi. Awesome addition to downtown Madison! It is just what we need here. Everything was just super satisfying! We got the braised beef noodles and braised spare rib noodle dish. The broth was completely satisfying and tasty. Even though it was a rich and flavorful broth it had a light and easy to consume feel to it. I loved watching the noodles being made. It is a craft and they've clearly perfected it. Takes great skill! The noodles were delicious. Had a great chew to it. The meats were soft and had a good flavor to them. The broth that came from the beef just added to the great flavor and softness to the meat. I did not care too much for the shrimp dumplings. The texture of the dumpling dough was really wonderful. Maybe the proportion to shrimp to dough was too little. I loved the bbq pork buns. Once again, thales bun was so good. So soft and pillowy. Had plenty of meat. This place is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Where do I even start?? Someone from my church works there and recommended the braised beef noodles, and that is definitely the way to go for the most authentic version of beef noodle soup. Next time I go, I'll definitely be trying some of the other types, but the braised beef will always be a solid choice. The noodles are obviously fresh and well cooked. You can see the guy in the back literally hand pulling them too while you order! The broth is rich and flavorful without being too oily, so you can just slurp it right up with or without noodles. It's the perfect dish for this cold winter, and you'll feel warm and satisfied without feeling heavy and greasy. There is also a bar at the side where you can load up on however much green onions, parsley, and chili oil as you prefer. During the winter I had a nice bowl of mince meat with noodles. Food is hearty. Saw other patrons with dumplings. Customers order at the counter. There is a small condiment counter for chili sauces n chopped green onions. I think I ordered the wrong noodles cuz I had a different expectation . While the noodles were tasty, I really appreciated the braised beef which was very tender and the excellent broth. So flavorful - it really hit the spot on a cold day. She dropped off my food at the table in a plastic disposable bowl and my egg roll was in a paper wrapper. No tray, no utensils, no chopsticks or napkins. She said I could get them at a table in the front. There were only tiny plastic forks and spoons and cheap, coffee napkins. Basically the cheapest disposable utensils you can find. I ordered soup and asked for metal utensils and she said they didn't have any. Had to eat with a tiny plastic spoon, which wasn't great for this soup with tons of noodles. This place is only good if you're getting it to-go. I don't like to eat my food from disposable plastic, especially when it's very hot soup. Tried Ruyi for the first time today, so I'm not sure if this is common, but if you get duck in your noodle bowl the person who chops the duck leaves lots of small and sharp bone pieces in the meat.
