We've been using RV Specialists for 9 years. Ever since we purchased our 2000 Rexhall Aerbus. They've always been completely professional and honest in the work that they have provided. The owners are always accessible and Beverly has great customer service person to work with. One time, I was having major problems with one of my slide outs. A previous company charged me $2000 to "fix" the problem. It still persisted. RV Specialists looked at it and determined the problem was a $25 switch. Do not take your RV here! Our generator was not running and overheating. They said that it would require 10 hrs of labor to remove the generator and basically wanted to replace every possible part in it- quoted over $2900! When we declined to move forward they tried to tell us that they spent over 2 hrs in labor to diagnose the problem and it was going to cost $362 just for the estimate, when all they really did was put a scope on it and got a code that it was overheating So glad we listened to our gut and took it to an honest RV repair shop in Yuma where they fixed the problem for $216!! This place is SHADY. They will take parts off your motorhome without your consent. I was told I had a broken coil and they needed to be replaced. I come from a family of mechanics and after consulting with some of my uncles (diesel mechanics) they say they've seen a leaf spring break, never a coil. Needless to say when I picked up my rig, I was given a fouled spark plug. Didn't occur to me until after a few days that they should have given me ALL OF THE parts that were taken off my RV. Never showed me this "broken coil". This was the third trip back. It's gone back for the same issue almost every time. How do you let it get picked up after changing the fuel pump, with a fuel gauge that doesn't work?? Also they complained about some plastic paneling that was needed to be removed in order to gain access to the brake fluid reservoir. Well these insulated covers that make the engine noise significantly louder since they were never put back on. Who knows if they tossed them. Maybe they can get away with this if I was just like their typical ordinary client (really old and retired) but I'm not. I know how shops can conveniently forget a few panels and no one would ever notice (I come from a gear head /wrenching family) and I've seen some stuff. Family or even working at a place like jiffy lube. I know how easy it is to swap parts and never get caught. If you have a brand new diesel pusher and you just want to get it serviced I'm sure they'd love you. But my rig is old. It actually requires getting dirty. These guys seem to not care too much for older rigs. Even if they're in decent shape. Oh and I caught the lady at the front counter pretend to "flash" her breast (didn't actually do it) but motioned to look like she was doing it. She obviously thought no one was in the room. But I was. Saw the whole thing. She was VERY startled and surprised. Not very professional in my opinion. Yesterday I noticed a coolant leak. Been coming here for years! Long before I met the owner, who is THE MAN, when it comes to RVs (and other stuff), but RVS #1! He takes his time to walk thru any repair scenario and can even hunt down the most obscure! Forget the "whiners" who complain of a once in a blue moon negative. In my businesses I had over 550 "posts" over 55 yrs in biz, w/ 99% customer approval UNLESS they came online, where is the place "whiners" come! The satisfied MASSES do not post. Mark has my highest recommendations! We packed our RV ready for a 6 week cross-country trip, pulled out of the driveway, onto the freeway and my rig wouldn't shift out of second gear, revving the piss out of the engine. We returned home and I found a wire that a rat had chewed (the suspect rat was executed 2 months ago). Called Mark and within the hour I was at his shop with John working on it. Our departure is now delayed 1 day, but I couldn't imagine better or faster service. We had a broken gear on our Schwintec slide system on our 2023 Thor Inception. Even though our unit was new we have had other issues with the slides. I had read about the Vroom Slide Systems. We happened to be in the San Diego area on the beginning of a month and a half trip. The Vroom factory in Tucson couldn't get us in for a month. One of the few distributors and installers is RV Specialists in San Diego. I called and talked to Mark. He said that he would rearrange some things and get me in the next Monday. He was an absolute pleasure to work with. Mark even let us leave our flat tow pickup in their secure lot while we flew home for a week to take care of business. Brought my Rv in for a slide repair, the flimsy security ( basically none) was the reason several Rv s were targeted for their Catalytic converters. We were told by phone call to get in touch with our insurance company and arrange a claim. We were charged a deductible and Rv specialist got paid to do the repairs. Unfortunately an employee Ray was\is rude, unprofessional and stereotype grumpy old man he was. That doesn't mean give him right to cuss to employees and later found out that is a supervisor. These guys are amazing! Best customer service around. After years dealing with several different RV Dealer's service depts, a friend suggested RV Specialists. Talked to Mark initially and scheduled an appointment for me to have a new Morryde suspension installed on my TT. They were also going to attended to the bearings and do a brake adjustment. The work was done ahead of schedule and under budget! I just recently had an issue with two of my wheel bearing grease caps coming off. We had about 10 days until leaving on a trip to Central CA and I thought it could probably wait until I got back. I called RV Specialists to schedule a time for after we returned. Darrell wasn't sure I should wait. He had me send him pictures (so I didn't have to drag my TT in unnecessarily) and after looking at them he said he would feel better if I brought it in ASAP so he could fix the issue to make sure we didn't have any problems on our trip. I needed an exhaust fan blade for my RV. I got crazy quotes from Mobile RV repair people. I called and talked with Beverley. She was super helpful, coached me thru how to take apart the fan assembly. We have used RV Specialists for both our motor homes. They do an outstanding job, above and beyond the call. We've had to call them while camping to solve various emergencies small and not so small. Error message on leveling system, jacks wouldn't retract, what to do about a bad fan clutch, AquaHot on the fritz. Every time, got to talk to someone knowledgeable immediately (thanks, Darrell (sp?) and Ray) and got the problem solved immediately or good advice. Came out to our storage lot to change out dead batteries, even (thanks, Ray.) They are very busy because they're very good. Make an appointment with as much lead time as you can afford. From day 1 I have received professional, fair, exceptional work on my RV. Darrell has gone above and beyond helping me understand what my RV needs and what I can wait on. I have had seals checked and repaired (more to come on seals), heater core replaced, fuel pump and power steering pump replaced as well have bought replacement parts there. Sorry to hear your experience Tina. It would help if we new what type and year your coach was. I purchased a 2000 American Dream40 foot Diesel Pusher May of 2013. Knowing I would have repairs I was most interested in the engine and transmission. Every thing worked when I purchased it had it professionally inspected by two different companies. Only important to establish that everything worked when I purchased it. The household stuff is going to go bad with age faster if not used. I Found RV Specialist because they were the only ones (I talked with 4 other RV sites) that would start to work on my generator within a few days and I needed it repaired so I did not have to delay a 5 day vacation again. They got it working in a week and I went on vacation. I have had an issue with the generator not wanting to start all of the time cleaned and replace components that the self test indicated bad. This took care of it mostly but once is a while it still would not start this turned out to be the dash switch. One could call this a call back but it was not an area they had worked on so it really was not.. They have rebuild a level jack, repaired inverter, worked on an intermittent Norcold frig. My Norcold issue I hope is done as of today. Five other companies have worked on this issue while I have been on trips over the last 15 months. It bedeviled everyone being an intermittent problem. When it went into the shop it would work next trip out it would work 1/2 the time. It finally failed we believe it was a failed Norcold recall circuit had that replaced today. Will not know for sure for a while. I found coach heater and engine cooling system leaks while on trips. All fixed on the road. These are Motor Homes and they will have issues I guess what I'm trying to get across is they are a good shop. I'm sure they make mistakes as everyone does it is how they fix them. Did you question them or just leave mad? Sometimes you find things that are not working only after you fix one thing. This sounds like what was going on with your item. You could have said stop I want a second opinion. It appears you did not do this and I agree that depending on the issue you may not have had a choice. I just think you did not provide enough information for others to make an informed derision on. read more

I came here because I had an electrical fire behind my fridge. Before I arrived the owner Mark told me over the phone that my cooling unit failed. Upon arrival he insisted the fridge cooling unit had failed but refused to actually look at it. I explained that the wires behind the fridge may have shorted out but he wouldn't budge.. The fridge must be replaced Mark insisted. I was quoted $1650 for the install and a new fridge. Secondly, my genetator stopped working around the same time as my electrical fire. Mark told me the generator was seized and to take it out and diagnose would be about $300 (2 hours of labor) , the problem he notes was that even if they could fix it, parts would be extremely difficult to locate due to it's age. Your looking at a minimum of $2500 he told me. I asked Mark, is there any possibility it's just the starter? No, the engine is seized he told me. I decided I needed a 2nd opinion so I took the RV to Quality RV in El Cajon. I left Quality RV 4 hours later with a working Generator (they even changed the oil & filters) and a perfectly working fridge. All for under $800. I highly reccomend you DO NOT go to RV Specialist unless you have money to burn. They are in the business of selling new products, not fixing old ones. Was looking for an honest shop and went here on the recommendation of a friend. Feel like I was just a bucket of money for them. I had three issues: the touch pad for my leveling jacks was not working, there was a clunk in the area of the right front wheel, and the front roof AC was not cooling as well as the rear. I worked with Bob and they had the motorhome for two weeks. I was initially charged one hour to check out each concern with the provision that it would be prorated if it did not take that long. As to the AC, all they did was a blow down. That is, they turned it on to check if it would cool down 15 - 20 degrees, which it did. Nothing else was done although Bob gave me some crap about checking voltages and what not. I checked, and the cover for the AC was never removed. A blow down check takes about 15 minutes and I was charged an hour ($140). The AC still is not blowing cold as it has in the past. As to the clunk in the front wheel, I was told a spacer had not been installed at the top of the shock mount. It would take an extra hour to make the spacer (Bob said it actually took longer but I was getting a break) and an hour to install it. The spacer turned out to be one washer. This was clearly not the cause of the noise, and in no way cost $140 to pull out of a box, and did not take an hour to install. That's a total cost of $420 for a washer. The touch pad was more complex and was the real reason I took the RV in. They told me up front the panel was likely bad and I believe it took about an hour to confirm this and look up the replacement part. They called me to say a new part would cost $800 (it's actually about $500 online) and would take at least an hour to install. The panel is a plug-in part with two screws next to the driver's seat. I declined the work and ordered the part myself. Enough is enough. My overall impression is that the actual work performed by the shop is probably ok and that may be why others recommend it, but that doesn't really matter if you're being lied to and robbed along the way. read more

All I can say is Thank You RV Specialists! I was in a bind with a water leak in my new RV. Everyone kept saying you need to deal with it immediately so it doesn't cause more damage, but RV Specialists was the only one to empathize with my situation and help me solve it. I admit I was concerned with some of the reviews, but lets be honest there isn't an RV service center anywhere with a 5 start rating. So I asked Mark (the owner) why the low ratings and his response made sense to me. I'm happy to have found them. It took 45 minutes to take it apart and they charged me a more than fair amount. I've been an RV specialist customer for a few years and I have, and do, recommend them. It's a busy place and I try to ensure I don't delay repairs because they can get backed up with work. They're collaborative and if I give them a need-by date, they tell me if they can realistically complete the service within the desired time, barring unexpected issues being revealed. I have regular maintenance performed and have had customization/modifications. When the RV is being serviced, Mark tells me frankly which repairs are must-have, and which are nice-to-have. I have never been surprised, like one unfortunate reviewer, by the total when I pick up my RV. Mark and Bob taught me what I needed to know to purchase my first RV (now on my second one) and Mark taught me how to connect/disconnect a toad after RV Specialist installed the tow package. I once called Mark from the side of the freeway where we broke down at the start of a trip. Mark talked my husband through the issue and we were on our way. Why not five stars? Frankly I just don't know what would it take for me to give an RV mechanic five stars. Maybe if they washed my RV windshield before I picked it up....? :-) read more
