Before a single drop of paint touched the walls, they spent a significant amount of time covering every single inch of my home. They used plastic and drop cloths to protect all the furniture and floors in every area. They even went the extra mile by moving big, heavy cabinets away from the walls so they could paint behind them--they didn't cut any corners! They also did an amazing job on my two decks and patio deck. On the first day, they used a power washer to clean everything thoroughly, and then they sanded down all the wood on the decks to make sure the surface was perfect. They were so careful to cover everything nearby so the paint and stains didn't get anywhere they weren't supposed to. They took the time to fix all the holes and cracks in the walls first, ensuring a perfectly smooth surface. The quality of the paint is excellent, and I was shocked at how fast they worked. They managed to finish the entire house and the decks in just 7 or 8 days. They are incredibly efficient without sacrificing any quality. Highlights: Incredible protection for floors, furniture, and outdoor areas. Expert drywall and crack repair before painting. Full deck restoration (power washing, sanding, and staining). Moved heavy furniture/cabinets to ensure a total finish. Very fast--finished the whole project in about a week! They spent a good amount of time prepping, taping, and covering windows to make sure the job was done neatly. They also sanded peeling/chipped paint and patched holes in the stucco. They were respectful of our property and also our neighbors' property that they needed to access to paint the side of our house. Peter is very knowledgeable about paint brands, colors, and finishes. He had helpful recommendations for things we hadn't even considered, like painting the porch floor a lighter color to contrast the darker walls so it didn't feel like a dark cave and selecting a flat finish to avoid highlighting places where the stucco was patched. We hadn't picked all the paint colors before the job started and Peter stopped by on his day off on the weekend to share samples of paint colors that he obtained for us from the store. We really wanted a bright color for our door and even though it required many coats, Peter was willing to do the extra work to make the bright yellow look good. Peter was heavily involved in both overseeing his team and in doing a lot of the work himself. Every morning he met with his crew and gave very detailed instructions on exactly how he wanted everything done. He was on site for the entire job making sure everything was done properly. When they finished the work they did a good job cleaning up. Peter and the team were extremely responsible, honest, and very talented. The cost was reasonable considering the high quality of the work and craftsmanship. We were so impressed by the Final Coat Painting team that we highly recommend them to friends and would hire them again for future jobs!

I work in downtown San Jose, so when we needed to paint all our offices, I figured it's a long shot that he'd come all the way down here, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. He came all the way down there, impressed our office manager, and did an awesome job. I've hired a lot of painters over the years to paint my house. Some of them low balled their bids and charged extra later for the basics. Once I hired one with a good reputation that came in competitively in their bid, but the talent of their crew made me think they were hired out of the Home Depot parking lot the day before--seems to happen alot, I understand. You gotta watch those low-ball bids. I learned that the hard way. Here's what I like about Peter McKenna: 1. He does exactly what he says he's going to do, and comes when he says he will. 2. He told us exactly what he was going to do in the painting process, and in doing so we found out about some of the corners that some of the other painters were going to cut. (If they're not going to sand, for example, move along. The job will look like crap once it's done) 3. He was very reasonably priced. From my experience in San Francisco a decade ago, everybody with an Irish accent came in at a 50% premium. Not the case here. 4. He didn't bring in a crew of semi-professionals. When we hired Peter, we actually got Peter, not the B-team. People noticed the difference. When your name is on the contact, you care a lot more, I think. 5. There also weren't any communication issues. That happened to me a lot to me in the past when the people doing the painting didn't speak English well, or weren't the person who originally spec'd out the work. He was courteous, and worked around all the other stuff that was going on. It's chaotic around here, but he rolled with it great. I'm glad we hired him. We'll hire him again later this year when we expand the office, and I'll hire him again to paint the house I'm buying now. A good, solid, reliable painter who is obsessed about quality is worth his weight in gold.

Just had Peter come by to do a small job at our home (3 of 4 walls in a small room). When I first…read morecontacted him, he gave me a ballpark estimate over the phone from my description of the room. He came over to take a look at the room in person, arrived on time, and gave us an estimate close to his initial ballpark number. It was competitive with what I had gotten from other companies. He took a paint sample with him to get a color match and we agreed on a day for the work to be done. He gave us a 30 minute window for his arrival and arrived on time, got set up and got right to work. He had me come in after priming to confirm that the color looked right and in a few hours he had the room done. He also patched up a small screw hole on the one wall we didn't need painted and touched up the paint to match seamlessly (He did warn us ahead of time that the color might not match perfectly but we told him to go ahead anyway and the match turned out great.) After he finished painting, he cleaned up everything and even swept the room for us which had been pretty dusty before he arrived. We had a pleasant chat as he was cleaning up and we were admiring the work, he's very friendly. He charged us exactly what he had estimated, and everything came out looking like we wanted. I am very happy to have found Peter as I now have a reliable go to person for any future painting needs, and I heartily recommend him to anyone looking for a painter.

While the scope of the work crept up (as it would when you open up walls and discover surprises left to you by former homeowners), they gave us different options, not necessarily just the most expensive one - and was always mindful when we were hesitant due to budget. The quality of the work is great, along with great communications, timing, and coordination. His sub-contractors are also timely, kind, and reliable. We said we wanted to be in our house by Christmas and they got us in on 12/20. Handled the permitting processes and everything was approved. Really can't ask for more. We have one more bathroom to remodel and we'll be definitely going back to Mark once we're ready to tackle that project. (Please don't hesitate to message me for more pictures of before and afters.
