To celebrate my father's upcoming birthday, my sisters and I hatched a plan to throw a surprise…read moreparty for him. Typically, my sisters handle the bulk of the logistics related to decorations, but given the ample time afforded by my retired-bastard schedule, I offered to pick up a few of the requisite decorations in addition to my straightforward duty of simply procuring food and/or dessert (typically Mitchell's ice cream ). My original plan involved simply obtaining the desired balloons and dessert plates from a local Party City store. My detachment from the party-setup scene was made evident by my sisters who informed me that the local Party City stores had been shut down a while ago. My sisters informed me that I could go to the Diddams store located in San Mateo (a 20 minute drive from my home). When I arrived, I was greeted by SEVERAL staff members with a VERY friendly "hello". While attempting to track down and consider options, I was assisted by two representatives working on the floor, Aricela (sp?) and Jairo (sp?). Aricela was extremely PATIENT and KIND in providing assistance tracking down several items. Jairo was FRIENDLY and HELPFUL in his numerous attempts to check the storage area for a couple of things that were unavailable on the display cases. At the counter, Jose was very COURTEOUS and PROFESSIONAL in preparing the balloons that I purchased and in ringing me up to finalize my transaction. Side Note: I ended up having side conversations with Aricela, Jairo, and Jose as they were all extremely FRIENDLY and, not surprisingly, very KIND in indulging my desire to practice my green-belt level of Spanish EPILOGUE As things turned out, I returned home to find that the top layer of a stacked set of balloons I purchased completely deflated by the time I arrived home. I ended up returning to the store to inquire about how the issue could be remedied. As luck would have it, the store manager, Jason, was present and he was able to quickly address the issue by allowing me to simply grab a pre-constructed version of the balloon stack without question. The timing of my return was quite fortunate in that I was able to introduce myself to Jason and inform him, face-to-face, of the COURTESY, PATIENCE, and KINDNESS extended to me by several members of his team. I looked up 'balloon arches' and Sandy's All Ways Balloons came up - I needed a balloon arch that would fit hanging on my kitchen wall, as well as maybe two dozen purple balloons to have floating around in our room for when my girlfriend comes home as a surprise. Sandy hand-delivered both the arch and the balloons, and even helped with bringing them in to my apartment. Sandy was very cordial, professional, and simply a pleasure to do business with. The balloons themselves were perfect, and they perfectly fit the spaces they were placed in. They brought a variety of animals including baby bunnies, goats, a piglet, ducks, and chickens and the kids were obsessed! Students were smiling ear to ear the entire time! However, I still do stand behind the inconvenience of ordering with Cute Balloons** I was going to be a repeat customer. This time I had time to plan and it wasn't as last minute. I will not be attempting to return as a customer nor do I recommend this business. I had a very straight forward order but because he didn't have the colors and type I wanted, the process was stretched out. There was a lot of back and forth with photos and questions. 24 hours later, I realize this is not how it should be. Based on my last experience, I knew I needed to ask questions and request for photos to get options. Because his "green" meant light green when I want a hunter green but he ONLY has the light green and told me he has "green" and would have provided that green to me if I didn't inquire more about it. After a while, it seems like I was directing the sales. To help the guy out, I told him not to blow up every shade of balloon but just take a single picture of the unblown balloon so that I can choose from it. And blow it up if I want to see how it looks like blown up. After that ordeal, he gave me a new quote that was close to my previous order (which had 30 more latex balloons). Basically this time $200 for 50 latex, 10 foil stars, numbers 1 & 0, and delivery. When my last order was $250 for 80 latex, 12 foil stars & delivery. Plus, we gave him a tip even though I was a bit on the fence of doing so. When inquired about the price this time, he concluded that each foil number was to cost $15. For a balloon business, choices are lacking. Eric has no concept of different shades of colors. Definitely has no interests in returning customers. We are a balloon loving party family. So we have had experiences with ordering balloons and blowing up balloons ourselves. I am very disappointed that this local small business is not quite trying to be what they are made out for. Now I'm just more mad because I wasted more time to write this review because I was unhappy with my experience with the balloon man. After I press "post review", I will forget about this business and let go of the angry feelings I have because, damnit! I have a 10 year old birthday party to plan.

I asked for a 13x13 pink soft play area and they were able to send of a contract, confirm availability, and set-up/break-down the play area. It was such a hit for our group of friends because we have a lot of kids that are 1-5 years old. The guys showed up and put together the space really quickly. I didn't realize there was a giant beam in the middle of the space where I wanted the play area and the crew was able to work around it, which I really appreciated their flexibility. We did have a bit of a hiccup with the breakdown of the event because the crew confirmed with the wrong person when they were supposed to come down to take it all down, so they ended up showing up an hour late. Thankfully there wasn't an event after ours so it was all good. Overall really good experience and it was the best value in terms of set-up that I found in the area, so would definitely consider them for a soft play set-up again!

Only problem was, the playground was closed for renovations. Nicole and her team didn't let us know that the playground was closed although they arrived on-site 2 hours earlier. One of the main reason we book with Nicole is that when things go wrong, I'd like her to step up and resolve them. But instead, she CHARGED US $300 for moving to the next playground. Wow, we were expecting apology, not a $300 bill. Even if you are a repeating and happy client of Nicole (like us), I advise you to start looking for more professional services with other organizers. We appreciate the many events she helped us until she dropped the ball completely and insulted us by charging us extra afterwards. -- Nicole responded by saying that they couldn't have foresaw that the playground was closed. This is false as her team showed me that they sent Nicole messages and videos of playground being closed before they setup anything. They could have communicated this with us earlier and moved to This is beyond surprising on how Nicole handles unexpected cases. Instead of trying to prove she is right, it would have been easier to say "shit happens" and make it right... Very surprising and weak response.
