UPDATE: I visited Eros in its new incarnation -- I'm happy to say that the original vibe and intent of Eros remains intact. It is a place to see and be seen with various configurations of seating and bunk beds and glory holes -- with condoms and lube plentiful. It is, however, much smaller than it was. There are essentially 4 rooms -- a room of lockers, a bathroom shower area (with only 1 shower), and two play rooms. There is also a small outdoor, vestibule type area where one can smoke. In addition there is a loft area above, but that appears to be only for the staff. But it is also much cleaner than it was -- as it appears the entire space was recently renovated and all materials appear to be new. As other reviewers have noted, this new location is a bit sketchy -- one should park in a garage and be aware if in the neighborhood after dark -- but this is true in many metropolitan areas these days. Overall, I am happy the essence of Eros has remained -- it might be for everyone, but certainly worth checking out! read more

In anticipation of the Folsom street Fair, I visited Eros Saturday night. Everything was going fine until I tried to get around a tight spot and ended up with a big scratch on my back from some unfinished metal on a stairwell. I didn't bleed but I definitely had a noticeable scratch and my night there was quickly over. I showed the attendant the scratch on my way out. I registered my extreme dissatisfaction with the situation. He explained that they had just installed a new stairwell. Whatever. Guys are walking around in towels or less and it's a tight area. I simply bumped into the thing when someone was trying to pass in front of me. They clearly did not think this through. This was an astonishing violation of my (and everyone's) safety. The attendant equivocated and didn't even offer a refund. After I left, the shock wore off just enough for me to realize I should get checked out at an ER. Seemed like I was overreacting until the ER folks gave me a tetanus shot. They reassured me I wasn't overreacting. I'm going to have to tend to this with neosporin for the next several days. I visited yesterday for the first time since Eros moved to its new location. So I removed my previous review and gave them a fresh look. The space is nice and new, very clean, new floors, etc. As far as staff, I only saw the two owners (I think?) there, who are both very nice guys. I like that the place is more "compact" so that the few customers aren't spread out over a giant space, as sometimes happened on Market Street. Unfortunately, otherwise the overall experience is not good. First and foremost, the neighborhood you go through to get to Eros now is disturbing and unsafe. I won't go again after dark - big mistake, I was hassled. Not sure what the owners are thinking. I work in the Castro and would often refer my customers to Eros, but I certainly wouldn't send a tourist there now. You have to skirt around people shooting up, drug dealing, sidewalk crap...not something most people would want to experience. The location is just an enormous downside. I've lived in big cities my whole life so I'm not particularly squeamish, but sadly I can't imagine how Eros will overcome its location. Second, I was there on a holiday Monday and still, there were only two other customers, one of which was clothed (I think this was against the rules at the former location, which was a good policy and eliminated gawkers) and the other one was tweaking. This is a time that would have been busy at the former location. Eros needs to figure out how to get a critical mass of customers there, or it can't really be called a sex club. It's a nice, chill place to hang out, but let's face it, without at least five or ten guys there, it's not going to meet expectations. Get people in the doors, guys -- free open houses, publicity campaigns, local event tie-ins, specials, more-consistent branding, reinstitute the yoga and drawing classes, art exhibits...after lengthy covid and moving closures, there's no reason you shouldn't have had your marketing hustle lined up. As for the space, it's weird. There's no flow. The music isn't consistently audible throughout the space. There are dead spots. The lighting is not conducive. They have shoehorned a sex club into something more resembling a modern office space. There is no "wet area" (jacuzzi, steam, sauna, showers, etc.) and that's a huge downgrade from the previous location. There is one shower in one of the two (residential-style) bathrooms. Irritatingly, I found both the lube dispensers and the shower soap dispenser to be empty. You are not that busy, guys...Refill the damn supplies! That kind of inattention makes me crazy. You constantly hear the staff talking and walking around, which is distracting - very echoey, hard flooring, no soft surfaces...some noise mitigation would help. Most of the space is closed off and marked as "staff only". Honestly, it feels like a real estate office. I'm missing the big patio at the old Eros, although the new location does have a small smoking porch. I fear that the owners made a really poor decision with the new location and space. The space needs to be softened up, personalized, made more visually appealing, more sexy, less office-y. I didn't see any signage for massage, or for the yoga and drawing classes -- assuming those are no longer offered. Finally, it wouldn't be honest not to address the fact that Eros is now charging more for less. Prices went up after the move, while amenities, location, and quality of experience seriously went down. I'm sure the owners have reasons for this, but from the customer standpoint, Eros is a shadow of its former self and isn't recommended. Thirty dollars? C'mon, that's totally out of whack. Steamworks gets you way more for the money. Hopefully I'm completely wrong and they'll turn it all around!! Eros has been a great resource for the city. I checked this place out with the hope that it would be a reason not to cross the bridge to Berkeley (Steamworks). It was the opposite. This place was a "one and done" club. The place is small, a couple "play spaces" that felt like dungeon furniture crammed into a kids room (bunk beds with play sheets), a sling, and a small TV playing porn. From the exterior picture of the building it looks like it is going to be a 3 or 4 story club with lots of space for group or 1-1 play. It not. It is only on the 1st floor and surprisingly small. The cost was not worth it. For $10 more, you can get a room at Steamworks with all the amenities. The hours are out of line (4PM-Midnight Friday-Monday) with the majority of clientele that would be most likely to frequent a club in SF. The only good thing i can say is that the staff bent over backwards to make you feel welcome and were trying their best to sell the place. They just didn't have the product to back it up. My boyfriend and I went last night and had an enjoyable time. The facility is clean and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I was happy to find out how trans friendly the staff is so that i could recommend it to a trans friend of mine. There is a steamroom, sauna, and then a maze upstairs with beds and areas to have sex . This was our first experience in a space like this, and I'm glad to report it's not as scary or intimidating as I thought it would be. We went on under 30 night (thursdays) but most of the guys were over thirty. I would have appreciated a few more younger people there, but I refuse to be one of those young people who bashes the older gentlemen. We all get old people, and frankly the older guys are usually the friendliest and most respectful if you are nice to them. As soon as we would start fooling around with someone, a large group would gather to watch or get involved. Sometimes that was f un, sometimes it was a buzz kill. It has seen better days. The carpets are worn. The space is painted in dark colors, lots of furniture and different spaces for so few people. There is a chill space downstairs with couches and drinks available. They host lots of events. It has real problems but with patience always seem to have a good time in the end... They try hard and it is clean but SF deserves better but until the laws allow it, this is what you get. Yeah, I've checked it out a few times... always on the weekend when I've gotten tired of the endless games at the bars. On the weekends, there's a pretty good mix of men and I've definately had some fun. I wish that they had private rooms, but SF politics don't allow that, so I usually just try to find a quiet corner or area. I visited EROS for the first time recently on a weekend trip to SF. I'd read reviews, etc. about it moving to its current location from Market Street. I have to say that I did enjoy my visit especially since I wasn't sure what to expect; I never went to the previous location. The front desk guy was nice & explained how things worked. After checking in & dressing down, I scoped out the place. The layout is interesting with a hallway down the center between two play areas. One area seems more attuned to relaxation while the other is for avid players which is nice. I was there for a couple of hours & met a couple of good folx. Because I was just visiting, I wasn't too aware of when the place was the most active so it was a bit sparse in the clientele. I'd like to come back when things are hopping though because the play areas have setups for some intriguing play! Overall, I'd come back because these places need our support & we need these places. It's nice to have a place to go for some fun when I come back to SF. The place was clean, the price was reasonable. EROS operates on cash so you'll need to either have some on-hand or use the on-site ATM. I'm really glad I stopped in & will be returning every time I visit the Bay Area. I don't understand some of the negative reviews. I've visited this place many times and never seen any of this extreme comments. Not very clean? Are you expecting immaculate carpets, polished hand rails, buffed floors, etc? Then yes it's pretty filthy by those standards. Sure it's not spotless, but in all honesty it's not a dump either. Floors are clean, plenty of garbage can's in the play areas which are regularly emptied out and the only complaint I have is that the wet sauna needs to be cleaned more regularly. Again, it's not dirty, but needs to be spruced up since it's showing its age. Also, there may be a used bed, but guess what, there are *lots* of them up there. You can always find one that's not soaked in. The staff are far from rude or have any attitude. Even when there is a long line at the counters, they are polite and personable. They answer first timer's questions and explain the policy in detail to them. Really, there's not much more than that besides giving you a lock and towel. Their lockers are ok and are banged up a bit and a few have coat hooks missing, but still serviceable and it's not like they can't be locked. They do have a safe-sex policy, but they can't baby monitor everyone having sex. They provide condoms EVERYWHERE so there is no excuse for YOU not to use protection. It takes 2 to do it and only 1 of you to put the rubber on. It's not that complex. Lastly for the comments about down rating because Eros doesn't supply models with amazing bodies when they visit.... you've got bigger issues bud. Eros is a safe place to have sex irregardless of who visits. Many times that I went, I didn't find anyone to connect with and well, that's the way the world works. I'm not going to rant and put low marks because *I* didn't see Mr-Right-Now to get laid. You are probably better off at a bar and just flirting with everyone there. It's a hit or miss at clubs like these where ever you go. I actually found that the best times are right around 7PM and that's where the most variety of men stop by. As strange as it sounds, sometimes the late crowd (past 10) isn't all that great even though you think it would be jumping at that time slot. Overall, this is a good place to relax, whether you chill at the saunas, watch other folks or even get lucky. The one caveat is that there are no private rooms in the play area. I used to own a business adjacent to Eros, and one afternoon an ambulance pulled up and two EMTs ran in to assist a patron who apparently had suffered an attack of some sort while engaged in an activity that required he wear nothing more than a towel. As they wheeled out the gurney, on which he was sprawled nearly naked for all the passing world to see, I whispered a prayer that I'd never find myself in that embarassing a situation. The only time I was inside, I was bringing them mail that been delivered with mine in error. The lobby appeared to be cleaner and more appealing than the crowd I'd see going in and out on a daily basis. It wins three stars because it provided me with entertainment late in the work day. Note that there are no rooms or cubicles here, so all action must be done in public places, no privacy, which is perfect for voyeurs and exhibitionists like me :) The facilities are old and the place can be a bit cold. I've been frequenting this place for about a year now... Overall it's pretty awesome. Here's my general experience when I visit. First off it felt a little weird to get the courage to go in the first few times... It's discrete outside appearance is welcoming, yet I still wonder what people think when I enter. Upon entering I'm greeted by super friendly, and can I say HOT staff. The first time I entered they very clearly went over the rules. Rules are also clearly posted on the wall. They are consistent with newbies and rules as I sometimes have to wait while the staff answers questions and such. The price is very reasonable. Although at first confusing I learned to just show them my card and pay whatever... It's like 4-7 members get in for 12 bucks, outside those hours I pay 15. Once in you get a nice fresh white towel and a lock and key. I've found that the locker room is the only part about this place I don't really enjoy. It sometimes smells rank from BO or whatever. Thankfully they have showers! Once in my towel I usually head to the sauna or steam room. Both are nice, although the steam is on some sort of cycle so sometimes a takes a quick minuet to get steamy in their. I've found the steam room to be a good place to pick of the guys I want to take upstairs. Upstairs is deffinally an experience. It's lit dimly but not dark. Music plays loud enough to be enjoyable but never blaring. The rooms are set up with a shit ton of beds. And there's a sling! Porn plays and there are bins everywhere with condoms AND gloves! Lots of trash bins and paper towel dispensers. The crowd is mixed. Mostly 30-50 though. I'd recommend Sunday after 5/6-8ish. Lots of guys and their busiest day. Also they sport some sort of youth night on Thursday's, but anyone can attend... And one Thursday I was there and I found myself in a sea of HOT Transmen!!! Yea.. He says you need to have it. I give him 40 dollars two twenty's. He tells me it's twenty five dollars. I said that's why I gave you forty. He says you know what your not coming in! I was shocked and then asked why not. He says I don't have to tell you Seth see the sign. I said I know you don't have to do anything. But I would like to know the reason. I'm not gonna argue with you. Your not coming in! I ask again because I am still surprised. He says part of the reason is your arguing with me and that makes me not trust you inside. I said what. I haven't been arguing. That couldn't be the reason. He says you need to leave or I am calling the police, at the time I was like yes please do because I wasnt going to let him bully me because he had a bad night. He was obviously looking for a fight when I got there. I mean I'm ok with not going to eros it's just I had my day planned around it and wasn't ready for the unwarranted interruption. The staff here are nice enough, but everything else about Eros is vile. As soon as you walk in, you notice a smell of mold that only gets worse as you go through the locker room and into the steam/sauna area. If you spend any time in the sauna, you will come out stinking of mold, and you won't be able to wash it off your skin. (I'm serious--after taking two showers, I could still smell the mold on my hands the next day, and this was just from sitting in the sauna.) The clientele are almost all out of shape and over 50. Occasionally, there will be a passable younger guy or two, but even then the layout of Eros kills any prospect for fun. Because of an obsolete anti-AIDS ordinance in San Francisco from the height of the AIDS scare in the early 80s, Eros is not allowed to provide private rooms. So, even if you do manage to hook up with a guy you've been eyeing, it immediately turns into a group scene with every troll in the place. Needless to say, any buzz is quickly killed. The only good thing about Eros is the massages, which are decent and relatively inexpensive, and the masseurs don't bother wrapping you in a Puritanical sheet, like other places in this so-called liberated city. read more

I had a horrible time at Eros. Unlike other times I've been here it was exceptional. But today was just very uncomfortable for me. Some guys just don't take no for an answer. I was followed by a guy the whole evening. He kept touching me. I did tell him to stop, get away and would push him aside. I told him multiple times I wasn't interested. If there were people nearby they saw me pushing him away when he touched me and that I didn't want to be him near me. He kept following me for the most part, trying to find where I was in the building and what I was doing, getting near me and starring at me, It kept happening till about closing. I was hoping he would leave soon, but guess not. It was kinda hard for me to tell anyone with no proof and what was the staff suppose to do? Also since he would act like he didn't understand any English when you spoke to him. But I think it's pretty obvious the fact i would ignore and avoid him to show I didn't want him near me. My whole time at Eros was spent running away from this creep and avoiding him when he was nearby. However, I'm not saying the Eros staff is bad. Their pretty nice and friendly. But I think they need to setup a rule or way to prevent this from happening to other customers. I don't think I'll be coming back, just to avoid this creep. read more

Been here recently and had the best time of my life. It wasn't good, it was great. The staff was friendly and helpful to first timers, explaining the rules and helping with questions while smiling, which is pretty rare with my experiences of bath houses. This place is very focused on a sense of community enforcing safe practices as one of their policies and banning recreational drugs are they do not wish for glass to be hanging around the common areas, which is pretty much the whole place. Also offering testing on site on scheduled days and organize community events. Also, the lounge is a quiet place with vending machines where you can chill and talk to someone with a door that leads outside for some fresh air. The play areas upstairs are equipped with different structures in their maze of bunk beds, half open stalls, sling, and TVs constantly playing videos. The best part is that every bed, top and bottom bunk, has a tray of condoms and gloves as well as a soap dispenser with lube, in keeping with their safe practices policy. The area, however, completely open to everyone as per San Francisco laws about gentlemen's clubs, so keep that in mind if you're shy and don't appreciate people watching you because it will attract attention. This does extend to bathrooms as well, as the urinals are out in the open and you might not find a private place to clean up as a bottom, especially if you're spending a long time inside with multiple buddies. Plenty of people will be local with a nice mix of visitors since it is somewhat accessible to the BART which is the public transportation linking the Airport with hotels in and outside the city. This place is built on respect, and I see many of the patrons here being very friendly and intimate. I did visit on a Thursday, which was their promo for the younger crowd, but it was still varied in age range with each guy having their qualities even though the crowd was comparatively thinner given the weekday. Yes, we all cruise for that one (possibly more) connection because we are basically picking what to eat at the buffet, but you can be sure once you do, they'll be pretty friendly. Most visitors I met and observed really enjoy being intimate, making out in the various bunk beds rather than just a quick in and out. Even in the showers, sauna, and steam room, the people were friendly, smiling, and casually chatting. I will definitely go back given that the place not only cares about your physical health with enforcing safety policies, but also your personal health with the sense of community and the classes and sessions outside the normal goings on in a bath house. Weekends, I hear, are very busy, filling up the place, offering more variety and more opportunities. read more

I was here in June 2016, and I think it was the Friday night right before the Pride Parade. After walking around the place without seeing any interesting people for a while, I ended up meeting a gorgeous white top guy there. He is probably in his 40s and in a great shape.
