We came here in October during a weekend away in Wine Country, and I'm still impressed with this place. An upscale gem in the heart of the Seneca Wine Trail. This is technically their 'Tasting Barn', but using the 'barn' in the loosest possible sense of the word - brand new, high gloss concrete floors, beautiful exterior paneling, floor to ceiling windows, and a stunning deck - hardly a barn! We went for a tasting, and stayed for a bottle. I believe the tasting was only $5 for 5 tastings, and we opted to share a bottle of the Grüner Veltliner with a cheese plate. We sat out on the deck and watched the sun dazzle off the Seneca Lake - it was a truly enjoyable experience. The cheese plate was delicious as well! I showed up to this winery sober with my boyfriend (both of us are of age) and as he was shown the table I went to the restroom. As soon as I got to the table I was greeted by the male manager who told us that we would not be served because our server was "very uncomfortable" given how "inebriated" we were. I obviously was very confused given neither me nor my boyfriend interacted with a server and my confusion was met with "you'll understand when you're older". Overall, an amazing experience at Ryan William Vineyard! Convenient location at the Finger Lakes with an unique rustic modern look (love the indigo blue color!). The outdoor patio area is great for the summer time to enjoy the view and get some sun. The tasting flight was a great option to sample different ones. We ended up buying a few bottles of the Pinot Noir Rosé 2020 and the Barn Rosé. On top of the wine, the food was surprisingly delicious! I ordered the daily special, tacos with sweet potatoes, and my husband ordered the Sloppy Joe's beef burger. We then ended our meal with a few different desserts. All of the food was scrumptious. The minute you walk in it is hard to not love how this tasting room was designed and built. It is so beautiful and has some outdoor space to sit at on a nice day too. I just love the look of this place with the exposed wood beams and big windows with the view of the lake. I will say it is harder for me to comment on the wines, I did get a flight but the main reason we stopped here was because of the food! I got a pulled pork sandwich which was so good and after visiting 2 wineries before this the food was very much needed. The food looked good though. I was very impressed with how knowledgable the wine pourer was about the wines. I love to learn about the wine making process, so I definitely appreciated him taking the time to talk about every little detail! We started with the rosé, and it was probably the best rosé I have ever had! Obviously I had to buy a bottle, especially for $15. My husband prefers sweet wine, and he LOVED the Riesling #7. Our second winery stop on the east side of Seneca Lake. The building is beautiful and takes advantage of the lake view (except for the eyesore building across the street). Their deck out front looks to be still a work in progress and would be nice place to relax on a less hot day. It was pretty quiet on this early Sunday afternoon. The wines were $5 for 5 pours and were good but nothing special. The server was somewhat robotic and didn't add a lot of color to the experience. That is now my standard on these wine tours since the wines all sort of blend together at the end of the day. Stopped by for an early lunch after we got up super early to hike around Watkins Glen. We rewarded ourselves with the red wine flight and really enjoyed all of them. The Pinot noir and Cab Franc being our favorites. All the food we got was delicious. The sausage roll was very yummy, just a little on the small side. With a brand new tasting room and a great selection of wines, Ryan William Winery should quickly establish themselves as one of the better wineries on Seneca Lake. My girlfriend and I probably wouldn't have even stopped at Ryan William Winery if not for the praise we got from two other pourers from other wineries. We'll get out the obvious which is the tasting room is beautiful and brand new, but a little sparse and sterile (no doubt due to the newness). There's also a really nice patio overlooking Seneca Lake in need of some more chairs, tables, and umbrellas. The tasting list has a little bit of everything, from whites to roses to reds, all of which are really solid. Of the whites, I really enjoyed the Gruner Vetliner 2014, dry with citrus and apple notes, and the Dry Reisling 2012, with a balanced acidity with the residual sugar and minerality. I enjoyed the drier Pinto Noir Rose 2015 (lots of bright strawberry) over the sweeter R. William Bar(n) Rose. The reds were also really good, especially the Pinot Noir 2012, a medium-bodied red with lots of black cherry and nutmeg, and the Cabernet Franc 2012, with dark fruits and cocoa. Overall, Ryan William already made solid wines, but now with the new tasting room they're ready to become one of the better stops along the east side of Seneca. Definitely come and try before the tour buses find out about it. read more

We loved the wine in this place, especially the Riesling. Wish we brought more home to VA, where sadly they don't produce this type of wine. Aside from the wine, the staff are really friendly and you don't feel hurried unlike some wineries in the area. We even met Ryan William himself--such a nice guy! Just drove passing this winery along Seneca lake by 414 with my friends. The place has their own vineyard at the back of their premises. The wine tasting is just a small house but with great tasting wine selections they have inside. A cozy room with barrels of wines and home made varieties of chocolates and chocolate dip fruits. Their Gewurtztraminer was my friends favorite. You don't pay the wine tasting fee if you purchase their wines.. The person who was doing the wine tasting was efficient and friendly. With bacon, gruyee cheese over a scallion aioli sauce this selection perfectly hit the spot. However a cheese and asparagus plate was a disappointment. Ryan Williams was my first Vineyard I visited in Ithaca and woah did they set the bar high. Their barn where they have the tastings/restaurant is pretty new and looks so rustic and beautiful. I think the women told me it was about a year to two old. It's a perfect place if you wanted to host and event. I chose Ryan Williams because it had a restaurant and I needed some food in me before visiting all the vineyards. Their menu I think has something for everyone. I ordered their chicken salad and my boyfriend ordered their black Angus and bacon burger with their own bacon, smoked cheddar, pickled red onion, field greens, and aioli. We also received their cranberry chicken by accident but it was the star of the dish. It kind of reminded me of something for the holidays but I want to return just for that sandwich. The prices for food are pretty reasonable and my boyfriend and I ended up packing some if it to go. For the tasting we got to try 5 wines each for $5. The women who was there explained all the wines really well and it's good to go with someone so you get to try a bunch of their wines. We actually ended up cabernet franc and blanc de noir. We honestly would've gotten more but we knew we shouldn't go crazy on the first vineyard because our trunk can only hold so much. The dryness of the stuffing bread and Turkey would have been remedied with more gravy and cranberry, which also tasted very good and would have elevated the dish. The ceilings are beautiful. We wanted to check out the scenery and sit on the porch so we ordered a carafe and the grilled peach salad. It was one of the worst salads I've ever had. We were sharing it and had to resort to using a napkin to wipe off the crazy sweet dressing. The only way I could describe it is it was like eating a peach waffle? They clearly used maple syrup in the dressing and we both disliked it. I tried to cut down the sweetness with the cheese they included but it actually was completely tasteless. I am a big fan of reisling wine and today this wine maker had a choice of five different reislings. I enjoyed all of the white wines I sampled but settled in on the dry reasling as my favorite. I bought several bottles of the dry and the number 3 reislings. The 3, 5, and 7 reislings were only $10 per bottle and worth every penny.
