I have been coming here for years. Thankfully I live nearby and this is one of the few places which has exotic doctors on staff. I used to have a pet Pekin duck which they helped us take care of, even when she was attacked by a racoon. They gave her surgery and she lived out the rest of her days comfortably. I then had a pet rabbit...a beautiful and sweet brown Holland Lop. She passed away at only 5.5 yrs but she had always had teeth and GI problems. The doctors here were with me from the beginning when I first brought my bunny home and were with me at her last breath. They were always so understanding and helpful...I know she always got the best care possible and I am forever grateful to the staff for being such a comfort every time my bunny was sick or scared. The doctors here truly care about their patients and the families and go above and beyond. I haven't gotten a new pet yet as I am still a little heartbroken but I would highly recommended this vet to anyone with an exotic pet. Best care you will find...guaranteed. read more

My 3 yo parrotlet, Lani, looked terrible---head in wing, eyes closed and looked funny. I called and was given an apt right away. I had been away and discovered her water bottle's ball was ​stuck in the nozzle​ and she couldn't​​ get​ any water. Her babysitter is excellent--I've had her take care of my birds since they were babies. Dr. John P. diagnosed her as being dehydrated and gave her subq infusion. He said she should be fine in 24 hrs., if not bring her back. She was fine. I have confidence in Dr. P.'s diagnosis and treatment. ​He has a wonderful way of handling his patients. I also have a 19 yo eclectus parrot and a 13 yo umbrella cockatoo who have been patients of Dr.P. since they were babies.I am always pleased with their care. We are so disappointed in Rye Harrison Vet after a year of using them as our pet's care provider. The reception staff is incredibly unfriendly and are not at all helpful. Each time I call the hold time is long, and most recently, once finally off hold, I was hung up on before before they even said "hello". Their pharmacy has given us the wrong dosage for their heartworm preventative medicine and has charged for it and its replacement - they've still failed to refund the double charge and I am sad to say we've given up on that. We were so excited when we met with a different vet pre-covid at RHVH, Dr. Sperling, as she was incredible with our dog and we felt so comfortable with her and her recommendations - at the time dog food was upsetting our dogs stomach and she resolved the issue with a new food rec. The vet we had seen previously here was cold and seemed incredibly annoyed by my questions relating to optional vaccines (such as one for Lyme's Disease) Since COVID, the care seems to have gotten incredibly worse; we understand them restricting owners from coming inside as its safer for them and us, however absolutely no effort has been made to establish trust with owners - no option to "video chat" or watch the appointment from our car via a live stream or something, no call after or during the visit (EVEN if you list questions in their visit questionnaire), made worse by the fact that since our dog came in for a sick visit and saw whichever vet was available, that Dr. was made his primary vet in their system. We will not be returning, though if became necessary for some reason, would ONLY return for visits with Dr. Sperling. The two other vets our dog has seen have not been a good fit for us or our dog. read more

I can't stress enough how thankful my husband and I are that we found Dr. Pisciotta and Rye Harrison Vet. The entire staff, including the help at the front desk, are amazing! Dr. Pisciotta is personable and knowledgeable & truly cares about the wellbeing of our beloved rabbit. He was the first person who could diagnose his ailment a couple of years ago after seeing several other vets in our area who couldn't tell us what was wrong. When our rabbit has been ill we've received phone calls to check in from staff members and during one bad spell received hourly updates from Dr. Pisciotta himself letting us know how things were going. First time I went they ran a test on my dog (who had diarrhea and severe itching) that cost me $75 (never told me they were running it, then filled a prescription for medication where they charged me $4.10 a pill). Told me my dog needed to be on the medication for the rest of her life. Spent $65 for a month's supply of pills that turned out I could have purchased for $27.75 at Costco. Of greater concern is that the medicine didn't work and my dog now has itching that is worse than ever. $178 later (unnecessary tests, medicines, visit, etc) my dog is suffering more than she ever has. Next month when I needed a refill I called up and specifically told them I wanted to pick up a prescription and not to fill it. They told me it would be ready the next day. Before I went down I called and they confirmed the prescription was ready. When I got there the prescription was ready - filled and ready for pickup! Of course I didn't accept it but the audacity of these people is astounding! This is just not a vet hospital to go to. When money is the top priority - and not pet healthcare and respect for the pet's owner - you know there is a serious problem. These people prey on the naivete of their clients. They have a wealthy clientele and count on their clients neither checking on things nor caring about costs. read more

We are customers with our two dogs since more than 15 years, with one exception many years ago regarding our female dog we never needed special care for either dog, however had the feeling, that even regular procedures like vaccinations and check up's were always on the expensive side. There were always attempts to sell procedures that we did not want. Last Friday our 14 year old male dog needed veterinary care and because he refused to eat we decided to leave him in the hospital from Friday afternoon 4pm until Monday morning 10.30 am. We asked for an estimate, the doctor couldn't give us any specific information. During the stay of our dog they administered fluids and injected antibiotics and made an x-ray for $350.00. They charged me for the initial visit on Friday morning $209.80 and for the hospital stay from Friday afternoon until Monday morning an additional $ 1,966.29 !!!!! $2,176.09 from Friday until Monday morning???? Be aware before you choose Rye Veterinary Hospital, for sure my last visit. read more

The worst. They misdiagnosed a family members dog. Told him the dog had a fatal disease when in fact he did not. Probably did this just to order more tests and increase their bill. Never buy your meds there. They are gauging you with their prices. Never on time for appointments. My dog used to bark like crazy when they had that stupid bird and they wouldn't even let us into an exam room to reduce the noise and stress of everyone around. Wish I could give zero stars but one is as low as I can give. We own a rabbit and she wouldn't eat or go to the bathroom. Which if you know about rabbits can be life threatening. Our regular vet was unable to see our bunny So we brought her to RYE HARRISON VETERINARY. They examined her and X-rayed her. They then proceeded to tell us she had a tumor and needed surgery at a cost of 900 dollars. We went home and the next day we followed up with our primary vet. We showed our vet the same X-rays and he didn't find any tumors. We went to rye Harrison vet with a critical situation which they then tried to make it even more dire by preforming a unnecessary and complete RIPOFF procedure which probably would have killed our pet at that point. our primary vet explained that female rabbits have a high risk of devolving tumors in the uterus and suggested her to be spayed when she stabilized from the "critical care" (meds) she was given at a cost of less then 300 dollars. I wouldn't recommend this place to a family who actually loves there pet like family. HECK I wouldn't bring a stray dog or cat here either. They deserve better. read more

Quite simply: My parrot died here. He was singing and kissing me on the car ride over and I left with him in a box. I was given no explanation of what happened and ushered out a back door so none of the waiting patients could see me. I just felt the need to write a follow up review about this place. Over a year later, I'm still dealing with the consequences of whatever these people did to my dog. After hurting his paw last winter on a weekend, I was left with no choice but to take him there (his vet wasn't open). Before this visit he was sweet and friendly, loved going to the vet, loved going in the car, and loved meeting new people. He came out that day a different dog, who I then had to drag into my car when we needed to go some place. He for months would shy away from anyone who tried to pet him (even me) and his anxiety got so severe that his regular vet after had to prescribe him medication for it. He is very afraid to this day of new people. I spent thousands on a trainer to help him, and he did, but there is still so much to go before I can get him back to loving life. Really consider this before you take your pet here. I don't know what happened to him that day but he was severely traumatized and there was obviously a reason I wasn't allowed to be there for them to put a bandage on his paw. read more

I've been taking our family's cats to Rye Harrison Vet for 10+ years, and no matter the problem or concern, the veterinarians and their staff have always taken excellent care not just of the family pets, but of us too! These vets are not only talented but caring and compassionate, and are always willing to spend as much time as necessary with patient and owner - whether in the office or on the phone to help with a concern or treatment. They supported us through two years of treating one cat for chronic renal failure, and could not have been more caring and professional when the time came to put her to sleep. While not inexpensive (of course, this IS New York), I would trust my animals to the skillful care of ANY doctor at this hospital. read more

The two vets I've used here are Dr. Green and Dr. Pisciotta. Both doctors have proven time and again that not only are they knowledgeable, but they truly care about their patients and getting them well. I've taken hamsters, a chinchilla, mice, a rabbit, and guinea pigs here and will continue to do so. It is incredibly hard to find a great exotics vet (at least in Westchester) and this place has two! I had a terrible experience at this animals hospital. My dog was scheduled for a teeth cleaning and the removal of one tooth . I dropped my dog off in the morning and when I picked him up they had removed 7 teeth without my knowledge or approval. The Doctor decided that my dogs teeth were bad and on his own decided to remove them. It was a painful and frustrating experience. I never would have approved the removal of his front teeth if I had known. For years we were told his teeth were fine and all of a sudden 7 teeth have to be removed! The doctors apology gave me no comfort or restored my dogs smile. Please think twice before taking your beloved pet to this hospital. read more

Dr. John Pisciotta helped us make the sad but correct decision to put our Cockatiel out of her misery today. He was right on target with his diagnosis prior to his confirmation by needle aspiration. The doctor was thorough and compassionate. Before we made the decision of where to bring our bird we read many reviews including on Yelp. We appreciate that he didn't do anything that wasn't necessary and we didn't get charged for things that would not have made any difference in our Nigella's outcome. The bill was more than fair. These guys and gals are just awesome. I have now seen them for five different incidents involving two different cats. Each visit was with a different doctor but the same high level or care, compassion and professionalism. These guys are just great! They are reasonably priced, incredibly caring and great at diagnosing and curing whatever we have presented them ( a wide range of cat maladies). I haven't been to this vet for some years, but the bad memories still haunt me! I always found the reception staff ignorant and rude. Gary Yarnell was no better. Having only recently moved to Rye, he diagnosed something in my 20 year old cat and suggested an expensive treatment ($2k+). I declined, not for the money, but for the trauma it would cause my cat and couldn't see benefits considering her age. His remark was 'I won't think any less of you' .. really? Well, I thought a lot less of him after that comment! I would have changed vet practices but decided to stick there until my cat passed, which happened 2 years later. The day I collected my 22 year old cats ashes was the final straw from those vile reception staff. They were insensitive and ungracious. I was happy to walk out knowing I'd not be returning. read more

They are outstanding. We live 30+ minutes away and there are several closer vets. However, we wouldn't think of going anywhere else. We refer them to friends and acquaintances on a regular basis. Our experience with them includes multiple birds (cockatoo, cockatiel and three parakeets) and a large dog and spans 5 years. We've had the benefit of the caring expertise and services of virtually the entire staff. On virtually every dimension of service they are outstanding: 1. Expertise: They are thorough and thoughtful at all times. They have both kept our pets healthy through regular preventive care. When they have had issues, they have quickly diagnosed them, given treatment options and their recommendations and followed up to ensure treatment success. The vets all work together so team expertise is brought to the care of our pets 2. Availability: We have never had trouble scheduling appointments including with urgent needs and when we have had to reschedule. They confirm appointments. The vets and staff truly work as a team and all are familiar with our pets and make sure that they are up to date if we haven't seen one in awhile. This makes it easy to get appointments. They are open late and on weekends and have 24/7 emergency assistance 3. Kindness and Caring: All the staff are friendly yet professional. They know our pets and great them (and us) individually. The waiting area and reception is pleasant and filled with people who love pets!!! When we've made a mistake on our care of the pets, they are gentle but clear on what the right action is to prevent the issue in the future 4. Pricing: For all the above their prices are reasonable and they do everything they can to manage costs - providing care options with the pros and cons of each and do not needlessly recommend expensive tests. They have purchase plans for regularly needed medications They also make available brochures from insurance providers so it is easy to find the right policy 5. Trustworthy: they are absolutely trustworthy in all aspects of their services. Their only priority is providing the best care and experience at a reasonable cost. There is no other agenda! Don't take your pet here. All they care about is your money not your pet. They like to do a lot of unnecessary tests so they can charge a fortune. They told us our cat had cancer and would die within a few weeks unless we paid $2000 in tests. We went to another animal hospital who told us the cancer was a hernia and only one kidney was working. She also had an infection that was easily taken care off by some antibiotics. This elderly cat was with us for 3 more years. Its time to find a new vet. Although Dr Sabatini is excellent and gives great care to his patients, the rest of the office is unprofessional. The senior partner is arrogant. The front desk is run by 3 immature secretaries that don't have respect for the clients (I witnessed one covering the phone laughing about a client during the phone call). I was very specific which doctor was to do surgery on my dog, they schedule the procedure on a day he wasn't in the office. It was only when the technician spoke to me I discovered the new associate I never me before was scheduled to operate.
