This review is for the service department for Rye Subaru. I had to bring my car here because my AC stopped working on my leased 2015 Legacy. My car came from this Subaru but I live closer to another dealership so I typically go there for service. I work closer to Rye so it was easier to drop my car here on the way to work. I am SO happy I did. Dropping off the car couldn't have been easier. I pulled up and there were several guys outside (clearly busy) but immediately told me where to go or even took my car right on the spot. I walked in just to give them my ticket and they took my number and told me they would call my work phone to tell me when it would be ready. I spoke with Dennis (who honestly has the best customer service skills I have ever encountered). He was so friendly, polite, quick and efficient. He gave me a call about an hour before the car was done to give me an update and to tell me when I could pick it up by. When I walked in, he remembered me and immediately radioed to get my car to the front. I signed the paperwork and was on my way. I had to bring my car back because the AC stopped working after a few days. I called up and spoke with Dennis, who told me they ordered the parts and to just drop it off on my way to work and they would get it done. It was PACKED when I got there and even so, someone came to take my car to move it immediately because there was literally no where to go. They completely defused a potentially frustrating situation for customers. Again, Dennis knew who I was upon walking in and I was all set to go within seconds. He gave me a call when he had an update and I picked it up effortlessly. I was pretty bummed I didn't get a survey to fill out for this department because they were just so amazing. Every single staff member was so polite. My AC has been running well since getting it back. I would absolutely go out of my way to bring my car here for future oil changes or issues. read more

Very poor after-service support. I had an airconditioner issue immediately after a service and airbag recall replacement, and was told unequivocally that the issue was unrelated and I would need to bring the car back in and pay a $205 diagnostic for them to even look at the car. This dogmatic approach was very disappointing. I'll be taking my business elsewhere (Tribeca and Outback Sport owner, and various Subaru's for the last 20 years, new to this dealer). read more

They are scammers and liars and extremely rude. I took my car in about a month ago for a full inspection and oil change. Everything checked out well. Now this past week. It turns out my car had no oil and our car pipes had a leak they says. How are you going to miss a leak in a car!? If my car wasn't fine and had a leak before why didn't they tell me!? Now when I went back to get it checked out. The mechanic tells me sometimes they forget to put the oil cause they're so busy. The account service agent tell me they put oil. I'm going to believe the mechanic. They purposely ruined my car to get more money out of us. And to top it off. They were extremely rude and kept pushing us to come back and get it fixed there. I will absolutely not return to these thief's. And they won't do anything to repair my car cause of their mistake. PLEASE ONCE AGAIN AVOID THIS AREA AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. It's worth the trip to Liberty Subaru in New Jersey, even if you live around the corner in Rye! My husband and I bought a fabulous 2014 Outback from this dealership because they had the car we wanted in stock. Although the sales manager was good, the salesman didn't know how to work the Bluetooth and expressed frustration that it was taking over an hour "when he could have other customers". The manager came and took care of the problem in a minute. We were never shown details about the car that should have been explained to us. Our temporary registration has now run out and I have made at least 3 calls to the dealership over the past 3 weeks and was told not to worry (when, in fact, we are now driving a car without the registration in hand). Last week I was told that another temporary registration would get to me by two days ago. Nothing. This is our fourth Subaru. We love the cars. We have always trecked to NJ to buy our Subarus. I only wish we had done the same this time. read more

This review is for their service dept. I got a promotional email of 10% discount on accessories. Unfortunately, I decided to use the discount. I called up Rye Subaru for 2015 Forester Cargo mat, was told $80. I drove down to Rye Subaru to get the mat. The guy at the accessories counter tells me, its $90. I tell him that I just called an hour ago and was told $80 and showed him the discount coupon that I got in the email. He goes "Thats not too much of money". I was like who the hell are you to tell me that. I felt like being equally nasty but maintained composure and just said, every little bit adds up. I just didn't want to be as a-hole as he was. He reluctantly gives 10% off on $80. Body language was super clear that he was pissed. May be next time, watch your mouth and body language, and learn some customer service. This is less about the discount, more about the attitude. If 10% discount is 'not so much of money', why Rye Subaru doesn't give 20 or 25% discount? It should not be a too much of big deal for a dealership like Rye Subaru. Other dealerships do sell it for 55-60 on ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-2015-Subaru-Forester-Rear-Cargo-Tray-Liner-Mat-Black-OEM-J501SSG000-/301415488409). After shipping it comes to almost same and I didn't want to wait for some reason, but if I would be local to those dealerships, I would have paid 55-60. If you don't plan to honor your coupons respectfully, why bother emailing customers with such coupons? Give a thought on this before sending out next set of coupons. Henceforth, I will certainly not bother them with working on my vehicle or with any discount coupons. read more

Consistent with other reviewers, Suburu Rye offers grossly inflated prices , dishonest service and has an incompetent staff. On more than one occasion they charged us for parts not needed. I wanted to buy a Subaru Forester as friends drive this car and love it especially in the snow! My friend said i had to buy my car from Rye Subaru so i shopped around a little to get an idea of prices and i knew my last stop would be Rye Subaru as that is where i wanted to purchase my new car. I was told to ask for Neil but he was busy at the time so Ty the General Manager brought us into his office. He was so wonderful to deal with he listened to what i was looking for and about what price i wanted to pay and he made it happen. He was very gracious. Then Neil took care of the sale and paperwork. I wanted the Silver but apparently it was a popular color and they had trouble finding me one. I was going to change colors just so I could finish the sale but Ty would not do that he went far beyond the call of duty and was able to find exactly what i wanted. Had a great experience working with Anthony Smith and Garry over at Rye Subaru. I walked in Memorial Day weekend, with no appointment. Anthony was the salesperson I worked with. He advised me to consider/test drive the Subaru Forester Black edition that was in their lot. I immediately knew this was the perfect compact SUV for me (the size and style were the most appealing factors.) I didn't make a decision the day of the test drive and was not hassled or pressured into one which is always pleasing to a potential customer. After further research and working with Anthony, my dad and I finalized our decision on the same car I test drove a few weeks earlier. I came in for signing and Mike, the general manager was welcoming and invited any current or future questions or concerns. Later, Garry went over the financial information and optional maintenance/tire coverage. Again, this was a no pressure environment and there no hidden secrets in signing the papers. Finally, Anthony went over the specs in my new leased car, which was very informative to make the most of the vehicle. Absolutely horrible service. Horrible customer service. Took my car in for service, dropped it off at 7:30AM, and they told me that it would be ready that same day; that it would be ready later in the afternoon to be picked back up. They said that they would call me once they were done. Come 3PM, still no call and still no update, so I call them myself for one. They tell me "oh it won't be ready until tomorrow." Now, I have to make arrangements without a car to get home, AND get back to the service center tomorrow to pick my car back up. And the kicker is, had I not called myself for an update, would they have even let me know that my car wouldn't be ready same day as they had promised? I highly doubt it. This is not my first negative experience with this service station, but it will be my last as I refuse to go there ever again. Do yourselves a favor and NEVER GO TO THIS SERVICE STATION. read more

At the end of the day, as I was reviewing my notes I noticed that RYE Subaru didn't respond, so I emailed the sales manager, Mike Poznanski, and told him I didn't hear back from his salesman so i decided to email him, since he's the general sales manager. He responded back in 2 min saying, "We don't participate in bids. Good luck." Is that the place you want to deal with? A recent almost disastorous purchase from Rye Subaru was averted when I had a potential 08 impreza inspected. Buyer beware. Crushed shells and sand under the spare, excessive rust on the exhaust, multiple air freshness hidden to mask the smell. A dealer in denial that this car was ever under water. If I could give zero stars I would. From sales to service Rye disappointed at every turn. We purchased a certified pre-owned 2014 Outback in August from Neil Downing. From the moment we picked up the car we should have known that we were scammed. On arrival they notified use that the car was in the shop getting a belt fixed that they noticed at the last minute. When we inspected the car we realized they didn't even bother to detail the car (which was promised when we put the deposit down two weeks before). I wish the problems stopped at the detailing but right out of the gate we had issues with the alignment as well as the brake indicator light. We brought it back...again...and they promised they fixed everything. At this point we were beginning to think something was up so we took it to another Subaru dealership for a full inspection. Unsurprisingly they found that the tires failed inspection, the brakes were almost failing inspection, and a service bulletin to replace a belt had not been followed. We called Rye Subaru and were placed in the hands of Angelo. That's where things went from bad to worse. He immediately had an attitude and when I asked for the 152 pre-owned inspection report, which is supposed to be available at anytime, he promised he would get it...only to call back later and say their service department lost it. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. We are still dealing with Subaru Corporate to get our issues resolved and our car in proper working order and it has been 2 months since we purchased the car. You would think that after all of these issues they would at least have good customer service...NOPE. The only person working there that has any idea of how to treat a customer is Jamie...she is amazing. read more

Funny how people have such different experiences. Coming from many years at Toyota of Greenwich, this place is Wonderland! Did not have contact with any of the people mentioned in the negative views. Purchasing my Crosstrek went well. Got several thousand dollars more on my trade-in than I expected. I always thought my Toyotas handled well in the winter; they were nothing compared with the Crosstrek! Have had several regular maintenance servicings. That is where I really notice the difference. This is highly sketchy and the reason for the mediocre review: the repair department hands customers a form offering a complimentary car wash...but ONLY If you sign a statement promising to "answer all survey questions with a top box score of 9/10." In other words, the Rye Subaru service department is openly bribing customers in order to jack up their customer satisfaction ratings. Made an appointment to lease or purchase a new Outback or Forester. Was told to ask for Mike the manager as he "likes to greet all the customers and introduce you to a salesman", A salesman greeted us and went to tell Mike we were here. Mike was on his cell phone, texting or tweeting, feet on desk. The salesman returned to apologize and say they were shorthanded and he would be with us in a minute and went outside to look at a car with another customer. Mike glanced up at us a few times but never moved from his desk. We waited ten minutes and left. We will visit Honda and Toyota this week. read more

I recently leased a 2017 Outback from this dealership. After researching cars for days and dealing with all sorts of delays and frustrations I walked into this dealership and was immediately approached by Gregory, who answered my questions, didn't waste my time, and quickly set me up with a test drive. The car was great, as the reviews said it would be, and when I got back our negotiations were quick and easy. I got a much better deal than the final offers I received from nearby Subaru dealerships and in a week Gregory called to say that the exact car I had requested had arrived. He gave me a quick tour and sent me on my way and even called early the following week to check in. This is definitely the place I'm going to first when our next car lease is up. read more

I had called other dealerships in the NY area and spoke to many salespeople. As soon as I spoke to Annie, I know she would be the one I would deal with. Lease prices do not vary much from one place to the other so your experience with the salesperson is what counts. Annie was there for us every step of the way. She held true on her promise to get us the car when we needed it. She always promptly returned my phone calls. When we picked up the car- she spent a great deal of time explaining how all the features work. If I get another Subaru- I will not deal with anyone beside ANNIE! Rye Subaru service dept. is far superior to my previous experience in Pleasantville, mostly because you can book your service appointment online and bring your car in any time you choose via reservation. This is far better than having to bring it in before business hours. HOWEVER, the process of dropping the car off was like checking into prison. I think I was supposed to go to the receptionist first, but as she had not been there the previous time I went, I just went to the first open "window," as you would in a bank. I guess that rubbed the guy the wrong way, because he was very rude. I can't believe no one in New York knows what a "smog check" is. Do I have to say New York State Emissions Inspection every time? Also, asking him to "check the valves" seemed to set him off. Apparently there are different kinds of valves. I had to pretend the guy had just experienced a personal tragedy in order to get through the experience without being rude myself. Not that I'm so nice, I just didn't want him to crash my car or punch me in the nose! Rye Subaru, lighten up and get a damn sign if you want people to check in with the receptionist!! And don't bother sending me a message about how you strive to blah, blah, and here's 20% off. I am never coming back, although your actual service is great. I'm not sure about the price, around $450 for a regular 3000 mile checkup. It seems to be the same no matter what they replace. read more

This dealership is horrible. I recently moved to the area and went to this dealership for a recall. On my receipt it showed that they did an inspection. They told me my brakes would need to be replaced soon, I explained to them that I had them replaced only a month earlier. Wanting to get another opinion I took my car to my mechanic back home two days later where he assured me my brakes were fine and that the dealership was probably trying to get more work from me. Upon further inspection from my mechanic he told me my CV boot had a crack in it, which Rye Subaru had checked off as being inspected and fine. I called Rye Subaru and left my complaint, though I don't think they took it very seriously. My family has owned 5 Subarus and we have never had a problem like this from my dealership at home. The Rye dealership are liars, I would never recommend it to anyone. read more
