On a road trip we got re-touted due to construction and are so thankful as it helped us find this amazing local spot! We were there for the Sunday brunch and the options were amazing! The decor was eclectic and reminiscent of a trip to a hip Grandma's kitchen. The plates are all mix matched older patterns and lend a fun vibe to the interior. The room is a big open space but with lots of cozy spots. They have a room for a separate party and the servers were on point despite it being a busy morning. The food was perfect comfort food with amazing fried chicken on a smothered biscuit. Yum! My friend's French toast was very cinnamony which she loved. We will keep this in mind for future trips and even signed up for their newsletters and updates. It is worth a trip! read more

I ordered a 'Painkiller' and my husband ordered a salted maple d fashioned - they both were awesome! The Bourbon Bacon pork chop was probably one of my favorite meals ever. It was served over sweet potatoes and WOW! I don't even like sweet potatoes and I loved them! My husband ordered the chicken florentine and it was also very good. Wow! I can't believe this was my first time here! I don't live in the area anymore and I tend to stick to my favorites when I come back to visit, but I think this was just added to my favorites after today! Came here after church for Sunday Brunch with a group of 7. We had a reservation and were seated right away even though it was already pretty busy only 30 minutes after opening. The server created us very quickly and had our drinks out within a matter of minutes (alcoholic drinks taking a little longer). We weren't in a rush and we're chit chatting and the server recognized and gave us space to get settled in before ordering. Once we ordered the appetizers came out fairly fast, the food for our group size I feel like was quicker than most places for a larger party so that was nice! And our little kiddo with us wasn't the last one served (which is a huge pet peeve of mine as kids meals are quick to make and the most important at the table to feed). Ok so for the good stuff, the food review... APPETIZERS: - Cheeseballs we're creamy and delicious and several choices for sauces (more than most places) - Powdered Sugar Donut Balls were just OK. Probably the biggest let down of the meal. They were huge soaked/sitting in syrup. Just not anything we were expecting. - Brussel Sprouts were, according to several people at the table, "the best they've ever had", not to mention the portion size was HUGE! MAIN COURSES: - Biscuits in gravy got a thumbs up "good" review, nothing to write home to mom about, but the plate was cleaned. - Bacon was EXCELLENT. Perfectly cooked, crispy abs flavorful... don't miss adding a side of it to your main course! - Breakfast Pizza was TO DIE FOR!! This was the "prize winning dish" in our eyes. Gravy, eggs, cheese, tomatoes abs green onion... the only probably was it just wasn't big enough and we wanted more! - Hot Chocolate French Toast was a special for the day and I'm glad I didn't pass it up. I literally tasted like you were eating hot chocolate. So bizarre, but so good! A little heavy on the chocolate, but no complaints here. - Burger & Chips were cooked to perfection and there was no skimping on the toppings. The burger was ordered well done and it was, but still so juicy on the inside without a hint of pink. Chips were homemade and extra crispy. - Kiddo Grilled Cheese & Fruit got two thumbs up from our kiddo. They even asked what kind of fruit was her favorite and although fruit is seasonal and they can't 100% accommodate persay, I love that they asked, attempted AND that it was fresh. There were two other dishes on the other side of the table, but I didn't get over to trying them because I was too full! Shoutout to one of my many food crews that I dined here with, as everyone always shares and splits things so you get to try a lot and have the full experience! All in all this was a 5 STAR experience. Great food. Great (and Friendly) Staff. Great prices. Great Service. So if you're in the Ft. Will definitely be returning (in the winter) Drove about 30 minutes just to come try it out and we left STUFFED. The food we got was great but wasn't quite what we ordered. My husband ordered Country fried steak and got country fried chicken and I ordered a pork chop and ended up with a giant ham steak. They were both delicious just not quite what we ordered. My salad also had three large hunks of stem mixed in but the ranch was so good I didn't really care. We went to R'z at lunch thinking it we were early but they were busy. Despite that we were seated quickly. It took a few minutes to have our order taken but we had decided by then what we wanted to order and got our order in once the waitress was ready for us. The waitress was very nice and provided wonderful service. My husband ordered the tenderloin, a side salad, corn and chocolate donut balls. I ordered the wedge salad. All food items were a la cart. My husband reported the the honey mustard dressing he ordered with his salad was good and had a nice tang, too. The salad was a bit too dark green for my iceberg loving guy. The tenderloin was medium sized and very enjoyable. Not the least bit greasy. The corn was good and the donut balls were delightful. Something between a cake and raised donut consistency with a lovely light chocolate glaze topping. I loved my wedge salad! It came "deconstructed". The bacon bits, diced tomatoes and bleu cheese crumbles were in separate mounds on the plate. A lovely presentation and allowed me to have exactly the amount I wanted in each bite. The bleu cheese dressing was excellent, as well. We would go again and highly recommend! read more

Wow just wow!! I'm equal parts happy and sad that this restaurant is a 35 minute drive for me. Sad because today was one of the best meals I've had in awhile. Happy because I would be here every time the doors are open and my waist line would suffer. Our party of 5 really enjoyed the atmosphere. Our server was kind and did a great job of tending to our group during an unexpected heavy dining time. Everything we ordered was delicious but here are a few highlights. The gourmet macaroni and cheese was the best Mac I have ever consumed. A couple people at our table had the tomato soup and gave it rave reviews. We ordered several desserts to eat there and also take home. The bread pudding was phenomenal. The salted caramel cheesecake and cinnamon roll cheesecake were out of this world. Whoever is making those desserts might be the love of my life and I think my husband feels the same way. We will be back and I look forward to trying out other items on the menu. read more

Let me address the service during Covid. It's hard for me to recall a large staff moving quickly around the restaurant checking on customers, responding to any request and keeping all areas clean and serviced. Then the food had a wonderful taste. I had the beef broccoli stir fry and my misses went with catfish filets. She had a glass and f wine and I went with the local ft branch home brew. While visiting family this weekend in Haubstadt for Easter we had dinner at R'z. The staff was super friendly, service was great, the place itself was really cute and homey. A lot of the chairs, glasses, plates, etc don't match which I think makes this place unique. The owners recently hired a new head chef, Tait Tenbarge, and the food was excellent. I had the chicken noodle bowl with a side of sweet potato fries. I had an iced coffee with baileys to drink. I also added a photo of the nachos that my mom ordered and the sandwich my brother ordered; they enjoyed their dishes as well. Lots of food! read more

This was a first time for me here and I went for my moms birthday. My family swears by it and so I was excited to eat here. Let's just say, I got the chicken Florentine and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it for two weeks now. I live in Indy but I cannot wait to go back home so I can have this meal again! Also, the beers are served with a frosty mug which was awesome! Great service, we had a party of 12 and all our meals were fresh, hot and delicious. I would highly recommend this. R'z is a staple of Fort Branch. Candy has done great things for the community, outside of providing amazing meals. I've been frequenting R'z since I first arrived back to the South Gibson area in 2016. I've never had a bad meal there. I must be honest, I usually go for the specials because they are inspired dishes. From the host staff to the servers, everyone is friendly and makes sure you have a great experience. The baker is phenomenal. At most restaurants the desserts look amazing but fail to deliver on taste. Not at R'z! It's one of the few places where the desserts are spot on! My personal favorite is the Ande's Mint Cake. But, they made the best sugar cream pie for me once! If your passing through or have not yet tried R'z, visit!! read more

Ate here last week at lunch time. Interesting and pleasant decor. Wait staff were nice, but the food prep was a little slow and came out in batches which was awkward, because I was with a large group of people. To be fair, they were busy that day. Drinks came in a very large mason jar which was nice. I ordered a burger that had pimento cheese with a fried green tomato appetizer. They accommodated my special request to serve the tomato jam on the side and add fried onions to the burger which was nice. My goal was to put my fried green tomatoes on my burger, but they were swimming in the tomato jam which was too sweet for my taste. The burger doesn't come with a pickle or a side which I thought was sad. I also ordered the New York cheesecake with strawberries which was pretty good, but the serving size was a bit too large. I noticed my friends ordered the bread pudding which was not on the menu for some reason, but looked incredibly delicious. Anyhoo, I wish I had ordered something else. Friends ordered fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans, but I was going rock climbing so that seemed a bit much for lunch. Might try the restaurant again. After all, they serve Coke products which is rare these days. read more

I usually go for whatever the special is (always happens to be good, no matter what it is), but if i had to choose a fave staple i'd go with the wake up casserole. they have excellent fried chicken as well. the decor is also quite stunning. very charming looking place. you feel like its an eclectic home-away-from-home no matter where you originally came from. BUT i will say they take FOREVER here. seriously, its almost absurd how long you will wait for your food. as long as you are expecting to spend a couple of hours here, you are fine, but recognize you will not be able to just hop in and out. there's a cute bar though, if that's your sort of thing. and the "down-home" feel might make you want to spend some quality time with your peeps or the fam anyway. apparently they have trivia nights too, which is cool. delicious, delicious, delicious! Just had lunch at RZ's in Fort Branch.Sorry no pics but the chicken pot pie (today's lunch special) was homemade comfort in a bowl.It came with a side salad-greens were fresh & crisp.I tried the Strawberry Poppyseed Dressing-it was sweet & tangy deliciousness with pieces of real strawberries in it.The fried chicken is seasoned differently than many places, making it very flavorful.We really liked it.I've never had a bad dessert from there-today I tried the Chocolate Chip Cake. It was a really good chocolate cake with chocolate chip icing-yummy.I shared with another as the piece was HUGE.Their Italian Cream Cake & Bread Pudding are also really good choices.The service was also very good.If you are ever in Fort Branch I highly recommend stopping in. read more

We recently enjoyed a lunch for four at R'z. The menu offered a great variety of healthy and comfort food choices along with a couple of daily specials. We tried a smoked pork chop plate lunch special, Asian chicken wrap, chicken salad plate, BBQ sandwich, and eggplant fries. We all were pleased with our meals except for the eggplant fries. They were prepared with the skin on, which made them tough and hard to bite through. At $8 for 5 large fries, we also thought they were overpriced. They also have strawberry pretzel salad which we have seen at pot luck dinners, but never at a restaurant. It was delicious. The shabby chic atmosphere at R'z is fun and they had lots of lunchtime customers. We were too full for desserts, but the plates of cookies on display certainly looked tempting. We definitely plan to return to try their evening entrees. When the weather is nice, outdoor seating is available. read more

I think for the area, this place is really good. The service was painfully slow and the server couldn't seem to answer any questions about the menu. We started with the sticky chicken appetizer. Sort of weird for an appetizer because it's hard to share rice but it was delicious. I tried the rajin Cajun omelet. It was awesome and the sauce was delicious. I also ordered a vanilla latte. It was honestly probably the worst latte I've ever had. It didn't taste like it had any coffee/espresso in it and I wouldn't even say it was like warm. It tasted more like milk and a sugar syrup, perhaps a steamer that wasn't steamed. My boyfriend ordered the john Wayne omelet and it was less than impressive. It seemed to lack flavor. His mom ordered the chicken salad. She said she liked it. She also had the strawberry pretzel salad which was delicious! His dad ordered the Mexican brunch option (I can't remember the name). His only response was "it seems like it needs eggs. I should have read the menu more closely." Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. And it's a nice choice for the fort branch area. read more
