The vibe was lively and service was very good. They were very fast to bring out dishes which was a huge plus if you are hungry. The not too bad downside was they were slow on removing dishes and finished plates. Those piled up quickly when you order a lot of things to try. Although not the best Korean restaurant I have been too, it is still very good. I would say mid tier. The grill selection was limited as well as the available appetizers and noodles and soups. One of our visits was technically during brunch hours, and the menu indicated which dishes were a slight up charge. I ordered an orange juice one day, and I'm not sure if I was given the fresh squeezed or not, but it didn't impress me. The coffee was fairly average. Overall the food was good, but both times my scrambled eggs were undercooked. I loved the breakfast potatoes, and the jam that was served with the toast. I also appreciated that there was maple syrup available on the tables. My husband had the steak and eggs on the day we were there during brunch (one of the items with a small upcharge) and he said the steak was very good. Service was a bit slow, and at times it felt like our table may have been forgotten. Overall, it was an above average hotel breakfast, and I'd recommend taking advantage of it if you're staying at the hotel.

The staff also explained that they were able to provide gluten free options for some other items on the menu, but you could only order certain sauces for the chicken, not all were gluten free. We were very satisfied with our experience, and we received great service. They have a nice beer and cocktail variety, and several in our group enjoyed their sangria. The food was well prepared and everything came out at the same time, always a plus for a larger party. As far as the fried chicken, I found the crust to be extremely crispy but otherwise tasty. The bourbon BBQ sauce (one of the ones that contains gluten) was really strong. I do have one beef - their "side" of cole slaw came in the world's smallest dish; I got maybe 2 small forkfuls of slaw out of it, and it was gone. Bird Bar is a little off the beaten path (translation: a bit of a walk to the Metro), but I'd definitely come back on future visits to Montreal.

This restaurant reminds me of the types of places I used to go to with my parents and grandparents. It just brought back a sense of nostalgia. We got here right when they opened on a Sunday morning and were one of the first tables there. When we told the servers that we were visiting from the US and that Chalet came highly recommended, they took pity on us (rightfully so) and then gave us a 5 star experience. We got the chicken special that came with fries, baked potato, Cole slaw and chicken soup and you cannot forget about the gravy! I'm not a Cole slaw conossieur but it was some of the Cole slaw I've ever had. Very finely shredded and the perfect combo of tangy and sweet. The chicken was perfectly roasted and I was so sad that I was getting full off of all the homestyle sides that I couldn't eat all the chicken. But the gravy? Good god that gravy, it's been weeks and I'm still thinking about it. I'm not even a big gravy person but this was savory heavy with a kick at the end. They gave us multiple cups, one for dipping and one for slipping!
