Upon making my appointment at this salon for a regular cut and blow, I specifically told the…read morereceptionist that I follow the curly girl method, and don't use sulfates, silicones and drying alcohols on my hair. She assured me they'd be able to accommodate me. I was optimistic when she said they'd also be able to diffuse my hair instead of blow drying it straight. I walked in for my appointment and heard the girls talking about my request like "what is the issue?" "is she allergic to it or just doesn't want to use it?" and had to get the products from the back to wash my hair. My hair was washed and I sat in the chair for a while, and by the time my stylist got to me, my hair was almost dry. Anyone with knowledge of curly hair knows it has to be styled while wet with gel and/or a curl cream. She did the cut which was good, making sure the length was what I wanted and took off the right amount. But then to style me, she put in some type or cream or oil in my 70% dry hair that was probably filled with silicones. She diffused my hair on high heat, scrunching from the ends first and not starting at the roots. She diffused me for like 5 minutes and my hair was still damp. It ended up looking very frizzy, kind of like Lucy when she left her perm in for too long. I told her myself I would have to rewash and style it myself at home. I'm lucky I had nowhere to go that day because it was bad. In summary, my hair is fine, but don't tell your customers you have knowledge of something when you just don't. I think this salon is OK for people with straight hair or those who don't care about ingredients. The girls before me looked gorgeous. But curly girls steer clear.

I even brought her a picture. I told her to only cut 3 inches, she cut off 8!! I didn't realize what she was doing because she turned me around and put all my hair in front of my face. The job was sloppy, uneven, terrible layers. She tried to mask her botched hair cut by blow drying it wavy. Stay away!!! I don't even think she's actually licensed. And to top it all off she's expensive! If you're charging $40 for a haircut in ridgewood, you'd better make my hair look like the picture I showed you!

We're going on vacation and I want her to have a great haircut before we go away. Walking inside, its a beautiful salon. Very large and spacious, its a very welcoming and professional environment. My wife was given a robe and was shown a seat. A bunch of folks came over and explained the process. Before she was brought to have her hair washed, her senior stylist walked over and introduced herself. My wife explained her curly hair and its hard to cut. A true professional, she said not to worry, she has experience with all hair types. My wife is back from getting her hair washed, the stylist starts the cut. She's telling us her role in ARROJO Williamsburg and she's the senior trainer for the company. The vibe I got from this woman was very calming and extremely professional. She looks like Katie Lee but deep down she's Rambo. When you want a professional "anything" you want the best person for the job. The ladies started talking ladies stuff, I let them have their space and walked away. After all said and done, my wife was happy and glowing. We made another appointment in August. I tend to be pretty picky but the bigger issue is that I'm a redhead and apparently getting the right shade of red for a lot of stylists is challenging. Well, not here. I'm schooled in color theory so I was able to explain the exact shade of red I wanted and Justin delivered. Besides being a sweetheart, we immediately connected. He's a total smart ass and I loved that!! So if you lack personality or sense of humor, this may not be the stylist for you. He's creative, experienced and gives great recommendations, especially when I want something done to my hair that I really shouldn't be doing. I have also gone to Rebecca, the salon owner, in Justin's absence, and she's a badass as well. I have gotten microblading done with Kristina when she had only done like 10 people and she did a great job! Being a professional make-up artist and helping many people who don't know how to articulate what they want, it can be challenging to please the customer. If you don't really know what you want or how to articulate it, find pictures to show. Be realistic though. If you don't look anything like Beyonce or whatever flavor she's wearing for the week, that may not be the best screenshot to show. Look at face shapes, skin tone, hair texture, etc. and accept wether or not you have the kind of hair and face that you can really do ANYTHING with. She finally told me to google pictures of ombré.... She offered to have me come back and get it fixed for $80 to cover the cost of products but I will definitely be staying away. I was excited for all the good reviews but I'm not comfortable with a place that will spend more time trying to change your mind than trying to figure out what it is that you wanted in the first place. My friend did get a quick, basic trim that she was happy with. Owner was also generally kind of rude to my stylist (who was very nice and friendly) - that's just another reason for me to stay away.
