Poor service, lack of attention to customers. My boyfriend and I arrived to s&j around 12:30-1 and were sat very quickly. After looking at the menu the waitress came and only asked for our drink orders. Once we let her know she took our menus, but didn't ask for our actual order. While waiting for our drinks another couple was sat behind us and within 5 minutes they were asked for their drink and food orders. Odd, why weren't we asked what we would like to eat? We got our drinks and decided to wait to see if she would come so we could order food, but she never did. I eventually went to the front and asked for a receipt so we could pay for the drinks and leave. The worker at the front then informed her and she came asking why we didn't order food(maybe cause you took our menus and didn't ask), my boyfriend didn't want to argue as we were already upset with her service and just said we want to pay for the drinks and leave. Once the receipt was brought she passed by the table several times even though the check was visible with the payment. I again decided to get up and take it to the front so anyone up there could close our tab. It's like an expensive Mexican Denny's experience. The food is aight and reminds me of Denny's or Norm's or IHOP. I might even prefer IHOP to this. I got the Mexican omelette. Nothing crazy although it looked really good. Tried some of my friend's French toast. It's definitely one of the French toasts I've had. I also got the Mexican hot chocolate. It was pretty decent! I gave my husband 4 places to pick for brunch. He picked this one because of the Mexican items on the menu. His go to for brunch is breakfast burritos. Restaurant is located in a busy shopping center next to Great Wolf Lodge. We were greeted right away and asked of we wanted inside or outside. We choose inside. We were lead to the booth side, which had about 6 booths. 4 of them were already occupied. I guess they close the other half of the restaurant around 1pm since they close early. I ordered the eggs benedict with country potatoes and side of sourdough toast. My daughter got a side of bacon and a side of fries. Husband got the Gran burrito with avocado. Food took a long time to come out. It all looked ok. Taste was a different story. My daughter's bacon was too greasy. She ate 1 strip. My husband ate 1 of other other strip and said it tasted like it sat in grease then plated and served. Her fries were ok. My husband didn't like his burrito. He said it tasted weird. Not sure how to describe it, but he did not like it. My benedict was bland and sweet at the same time. I don't even know how that's possible. I was squirtijg Ketchup everywhere to get some flavor. I visit this establishment about once a month, but this experience was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, we were seated by two staff members and then waited approximately 10 minutes to order drinks, followed by another 20 minutes to place our food order, despite the restaurant being mostly empty. After ordering, we waited an additional 30 minutes for our food. During this time, a family with children who arrived after us received their meals before we did. This level of service is unacceptable and does not meet the standard expected from a regularly visited business. Management should address staff attentiveness, order prioritization, and overall service efficiency. Food cleanliness and service was a miss. Came in to try this restaurant sit-down today and ordered a Mexican mocha. Came out looking great but the other side had spilled over the edge. The worker said he'd come back to clean it even though I really didn't mind. But he then came back with a DIRTY rag that smelled awful like bleach and then proceeded to wipe my cup where I'd be putting my mouth on. We were too stunned. I told him "it's okay, I'm good", and we then asked for napkins because we didn't even have any. The drink itself was good, but still the lingering smell of a dirty rag on the cup was not. Luckily we wiped it down further with more napkins. When our food came out, no knives were brought out. I got a simple waffle and my bf got eggs benny. I asked for knives and he only brought out one knife and handed it to me. I didn't even bother to ask for another because at that point we were kind of annoyed. Also the pricing is really strange. At first glance most of the dishes seemed very decently priced, but my singular plain waffle (normal waffle size) with no toppings was $11 and the plate of 2 eggs benny and potatoes was $15. Came on a Saturday morning around 9:30 am and were seated instantly! Even when we finished at 10:30, groups were able to be seated right away. We opted to sit in the patio area to enjoy the nice sunny weather. But be warned: there's some pesky flies. The menu had a nice mix of traditional breakfast staples as well as Mexican options. Everything sounded so good, it was hard to pick. Luckily the server was very patient and helped us pick So we got: Chiliquiles ($13) - the perfect sauce to chip to topping ratio. Where the chips are still crisp but also saucy. Some scrambled eggs served on the side too! Delicious but a little dry. next time, we'd get it with chicken or carne asada as these come with avocado. Gran burrito ($10) - might need to call it a 'grand' burrito. It's got all the breakfast staples generously wrapped in a soft flour tortilla. Every bite has a little bit of everything. Eggs, beans, salsa, hash browns, bacon and ham. Huevos Motulenos ($15) - an upgraded huevos rancheros with their homemade corn tortillas. Lots of pepper and sauce. If you like your food smothered in sauce, get this dish! And the fried plantains around the plate melts in your mouth like a perfectly roasted marshmallow. The worst customer service and expensive prices. It was our first time there and I had ordered a burrito and a coffee. Almost $30 by the way, which I get that prices are high, but that's just a little too high for an average burrito and a gross coffee. I asked to exchange the coffee and there was a young girl who had delivered the coffee I won't say her name to spare her the embarrassment, as she may already know who she is (about 16-18 range my guess). she said if I didn't like it I shouldn't have ordered it and basically it fell on me and she wouldn't give a new drink. Now everyone in the serving industry knows this is not true and how you handle will make or break your business. A $6 coffee is nothing to lose for a breakfast place. I said that I had worked in her industry before and know that she can definitely change the coffee for another. Look, it's not even about the coffee, it's about the service and how she delivered the tone and attitude. If I wanted to be treated like I was in a family home where the kid was lazy, full of bad attitude and laughing at me for correcting behavior, I would've gone to my house where I grew up. My mom would've corrected me and I would've learned. It doesn't matter how old you are, if you're working, you drop your unprofessional tendencies at the door and become a professional. She didn't do that. When I asked for the manager they said they weren't there even though the girl said the manager would allow it once. Again, this is $6 coffee in a brunch place... I'll never go back here because as someone who has worked in every sphere of customer service, it doesn't matter if you are selling hot dogs at Costco or Gucci bags, everyone should be respected for the service they are paying for, and honestly that kid should go work at jack in the box or a gas station, not a place that tips because she is flat out rude and I hope no one ever experiences what I did again. Again, service makes or breaks a business and there are ways of handling bad service so that the customer leaves happy and doesn't leave a negative review like this. This review may affect future business, and I am not trying to be rude just to be rude, I am hoping this teaches a lesson who you hire and how you train them. What should've been done was the manager should have come to the table, addressed the issue, and offered to either comp the bill or throw in something to make the experience better so they guaranteed business for the next time. I have been the server on the other end, l have made mistakes, but I always corrected them and invited a manager to better the clients experience. But did they finish it because it was good... or because the portions were just that small? I was nervous opening it, and unfortunately, my instincts were right--it was extremely disappointing. To be fair, they did accommodate my request to put the beans on the side (but emphasized "just this once"), which I appreciated. But overall, the food was just okay. Not bad, not great. We originally considered McDonald's or Denny's but figured we'd try somewhere with supposedly "higher quality." In hindsight, we should have gone with our first instincts. Looked up chilaquiles near by and this place came up. We decided to give it a try. We were greeted instantly and told we can pick wherever we wanted to sit. They had both indoor and outdoor seating. We picked one of the booth seats. At the table they some condiments like ketchup, salt and pepper and jelly packets. Looking through the menu we noticed the chilaquiles were on the pricier side. For a hole in the wall type of place, we didn't like that adding beans or rice was an additional cost. Rice and beans should be a given for this dish and included in the price. But that's just how I feel about that. Everything on the menu seemed to have an additional cost to add anything extra. So we decided to get the cheapest thing on the menu which was a basic American style breakfast, eggs, potatoes, choice of sausage or bacon and toast. When we got our plate it seemed so plain. See picture for reference. The toast didn't have butter nor was butter on the table. The potatoes looked tasty but were bland. Overall this basic breakfast was mediocre. I get that I came wanting to try something else but it was more than we expected to cost. We were looking for a place within walking distance of the Great Wolf Lodge to get breakfast and I saw that S&J Gran Cafe was nearby. I was convinced that this was a chain because I recognized the name and my wife had no idea what I was talking about. Turns out, the only other S&J Gran was in our neighborhood. Go figure! Anyway, I'm going to say (no offense to our S&J Gran) that this place does it better. It could be that they have more line chefs, but they have great service, the food comes out fast, and the waitress was a gem. In terms of ambiance, not much to say but it felt like a nice diner / cafe. A few notes on the food: Huevos Motulenos - I ordered this one and was very happy with my order. The beans were tasty, the salsa was good, and everything worked well. Big fan of the friend plantain slices actually. I do wish I was more judicious with my plantains because once I ate all the garnish, the bottom the dish was a bit salty... which would have been more of a problem if I didn't order... Zapata Latte Cacahuate - Yeah, this is the stuff... It's a latte made with mexican peanut brittle and it's amazing. It's basically just happiness in liquid form. I don't think my dentist would appreciate me recommending this one, but absolutely get yourself some of this if you're in the area. Amazing. Normal breakfast stuff - My wife and kids were keeping it simple since they also have pretty reasonable prices for breakfast. Eggs were done exactly as ordered, the toast was toasted, the pancakes and sausage were exaclty what they were supposed to be. No complaints, would absolutely order again... preferable with another latte. All in all, we had a great experience. I actually told our waitress that this was the better S&J... then found out that the two stores actually got together and everyone knew each other... so slightly awkward. You should come! read more

Today, I went a different route and ordered a Denver omelette, which was so good. I normally order the huevos machaca, which is also highly recommended. But for today, I'll talk about the Denver omelette. They add bacon and ham which gives its crunchy consistency and compliments the eggs. I highly recommend this omelette. The potatoes are sooooo good. They use a seasoning that definitely gives it a kick. Still so good. They have an array of different coffee drinks. Service is fast and consistent. The kids waffle is basically half of a waffle. Chilaquiles is probably better without the meat. We ordered a plain one. It was good. This past Sunday morning, I had clocked out from work and a coworker/friend had just clocked into work. We were both hungry and were craving breakfast burritos. We were browsing through Yelp and found this spot. Not only do they open early but everything looked delicious so we had to check it out. I called in an order for pickup and was quoted 10 to 15 minutes. I ordered their A La Mexicana Breakfast Burrito. Sounded delicious but it wasn't it. The flavor was partially there but was masked by the insane amount of potatoes inside. Huge bummer because their red salsa was actually really good and had a nice kick of spice. The green salsa was very mid and lacked flavor. (2.5/5) I arrived approximately 15 minutes later to an empty restaurant and several people working. Once I got to the register to pay for my order, there was a younger female cleaning the area and even though we made eye contact several times, she did not bother to greet me at all or assist me. There was another female that was walking around the back and assumed I was there to pick up an order so without hesitation, went back to retrieve my order but there was no communication at all. As I stood there by the register for a few minutes, a younger gentleman that was cleaning the windows assisted me with the transaction but didn't even both with any conversation. I paid and the girl that handed me my order didn't say anything at all either. There were at least 4 or 5 people I saw inside that didn't bother to greet me or assist me initially which is a really bad practice especially in the customer service industry. There were also 1 older gentleman and 1 older lady outside preparing the tortillas but I didn't feel welcome by them either. The breakfast burrito wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst either. I would've considered returning to try them again but the service was god awful and cannot recommend this spot at all. Either train your front of house staff better or hire more qualified people with prior experience in customer service. I don't expect top tier service but anything would've been nice. read more
