He took our orders on his computer order system. But then he came back and said it didn't register so needed to redo some of our orders. He then told us his shift was ending and another girl would be taking over service of our tables. Then the food started coming out. Some plates we didn't even order. Some plates were extra plates of what we ordered. Tortillas came with the plates and I ordered corn tortillas, but they gave me flour. I asked for corn and returned the flour. The server said he has to charge me for it. I asked why? I didn't get what I ordered. I shouldn't have to pay extra for something I'm supposed to get, but didn't. He initially didn't understand, but finally got it. Food was good. One person's carne asada was burnt and tough, but others said what they ordered was good. Glass of wine was a bit skimpy for the price. Then the bill came. We triple checked the bill to make sure we weren't charged for anything we didn't order since there were so many plates that came out that we didn't order. Turned out a plate of chile verde was on the bill that we didn't order. Had our new server take it off the bill, but the automatic 18% gratuity didn't change. It was based off the original total because she took off the cost of the extra charge as a discount not a deleted item. The bill was finally cleared, but it should not have been so much work for us to make sure the bill was correct. In the end, consensus was the food was good, but the service was dysfunctional, between the multiple mis-orders and multiple requests for napkins, utensils, tortillas, and chips and the questions about the bill. Maybe okay for smaller groups or if you do go with a larger group, ask to do separate bills. read more

Been coming to sabroso every since they had the small og location. So happy they expanded and open a new place. The food here is still bomb and always consistent. To be honest, everything is good on the menu. Before I always order the shrimp with garlic /diabla sauce, one day I decided to try something new, the shrimp with half mushroom half diabla sauce, now it is my new favorite dish. The sauce is so bomb and delicious, the peruano beans so good, love the fresh home made tortillas. Sabroso the last time I went here was close to 8 years ago and oh how have they changed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The environment is definitely upscale and the ambient lighting is perfect. Great for a date night[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I can also say the servers are very personable and kind. The only down side to this is that they don't offer free chips. I don't know if all places are the same now, but I am definitely use to the tortilla chips being complimentary. Also I don't recommend the ceviche the tostada-to-ceviche ratio was off. Now the other food. I order the al pastor tacos and the governor tacos. Both tacos are fantastic in taste, great tortilla and meat was nice. I also thought the pickled red onions was a great touch. Overall the food was tasty, but things I couldn't overlook. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish. It is very much an upscale Mexican restaurant, with a large and gorgeous dining area with a large bar and open kitchen. My wife and I stopped in for lunch before going to the nearby Angel's stadium for a ballgame, and found the food to be decent and the service to be excellent. It's a busy plaza, but the large parking lot provided plenty of parking spots. We were greeted at the door by our soon-to-be server, Andrea, and she was engaging and informative throughout our stay. This is the sort of hostess that I take recommendations from, so proceeded that way. Our waters were kept full throughout, and numerous servers stopped by to make sure we were OK. The food came out in stages, all clearly made-to-order, and staged really well. Chips and Salas ($3) - not complementary, but having free refills. It's worth getting for the price, as the chips are all freshly made from the homemade corn tortillas. And the two salsas were good. Signature Tamale ($9) - it seems expensive for just one tamale, but it was really good, with a good ratio of masa and carnitas. Two - three would have filled me up. Taquitos ($15) - 3 short but fat deep-fried wrapped tortilla around shredded chicken. My wife enjoyed it, especially dipped in the salsa from our appetizers. Camarones En Crema ($25 plus $3 for Diabla) - adding the Diabla was a mistake for me (I asked for light diabla...if this is low, I don't want to know what medium is), and I paid for it about an hour later. But the dish itself was good, with a strong mushroom flavor, consisting of 7 really good jumbo tail-on shrimp, cooked perfectly (with that light chewiness I seek). It came with an OK rice and refried beans. My original intention was to get the garlic version of this, but will probably go with more tamales next time. They do accept reservations, no longer through Yelp, but through one of the POS providers (Toast I think). read more

We've been looking for a good molcajete spot and we have finally found one after two years! The food is literally the best you will ever have and it's made with lots of love. The pricing for food is also very reasonable for just how amazing it taste. The staff was phenomenal, everyone was friendly and very helpful and informative. We had the pleasure of having Marbella and Luis serving us and they were attentive to us the whole time. We will most definitely be back to try all the other yummy looking dishes there. The food is really good. It's the time it takes to get the food that's the problem. We were seated at 7:20pm and didn't get our food until almost an hour after we ordered. Meanwhile, 3 nearby tables that were seated way after us received their food. This seems to be a consistent problem here based on other reviews so I do hope that they reorganize the kitchen better. As far as service, our waitress was nice but we didn't get checked on much in the 45+ minutes it took for our food to arrive. Had she checked in with us, it would've given us the opportunity to ask her about our food and maybe receive it sooner. However, the other staff members who checked us in, seated us, filled our drinks, bartender, etc. - they were great. We ordered their molcajete, quesabirria, asada taco salad, guacamole, chips and salsa, and elote. Everything was delicious. Only 2 complaints was that 1) they charge for chips and salsa and 2) they charged me for extra dressing without letting me know it was an extra charge and I didn't even get the extra dressing. Years back, it got national love from celeb Chef Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives game, and they still feature a few of the dishes he highlighted--worth checking out if you're a fan. They've recently moved to a new location in the same parking lot, and here's the funny part: you can still see the shell of the old restaurant sitting there. Once you look at it, you immediately realize... yeah, that place needed an upgrade. It was pretty rundown. The new space feels like Sabroso got a second life--upgraded bar, cleaner look, better vibe. A proper resurrection. I went with the blackened chicken salad and it delivered. Sabroso moved! I was quiet shocked to see that they got a new building (same parking lot as old building). It is beautiful inside, the food is still delicious, and the service was great. It was also great to hear that they family that originally opened the restaurant is still around. Prices have gone up, but that is the case for everywhere! The chile verde is still bomb, chips and tortillas are homemade, and salsas remind me of the kind my mom would make when I was younger. Place is not a dive or other labels but what it has is AMAZING food. We had Chamorro and it was delish. The corn side as an appetizer, and birrira tacos. Will be back to try the other recommended dishes. Specifically chili verde, everyone nearby was ordering that. Strong recommendation if you up this way go here. Only thing bad is the salsa while it has great flavor it is too gringo. Chips and Salsa $3.00 needs a spicy salsa option. Mild is no bueno. We went for Father's Day and had a terrible experience. We put our name on the waitlist and waited about 20-25 min then waited about 2 hours for our entrees. 2 hours is absolutely unacceptable! Not to mention they forgot to bring out one of our appetizers. Our waitress never touched down to give us a heads up as to what was going on. When we asked they said they were understaffed and that the kitchen had a call out. A little while later the manager said that "everything is made to order and that it takes time" I didn't appreciate the excuses and not taking accountability by actually telling the truth. This was with out a doubt poor management. For that reason, I will not be returning despite the food being good. Had an industry event here and was quite happy that I now know where to go when I'm craving for garlic shrimp. The best garlic shrimp (Camarones Al Mojo de Ajo in the menu) I've had that's near my place! The way they serve this was perfect - Mexican style, so the plate came with rice, beans and warm tortilla. The servers were great - polite, personable and efficient, especially the lady manager who was very professional and knowledgeable of her product. Told us that the place is a family business and had been operating it for years. The atmosphere and interior of the restaurant is a mix of relaxation and celebration..a great hangout place. ONE IMPORTANT TIP though-- make sure you ask if there's any additional charge for extras. Our group wasn't happy with the additional $3 charge that showed up on our individual bills. We ordered the pork chili verde and it was everything you want it to be--tender, tangy, and packed with flavor without being too heavy. The beef tamale was another win: super moist, filling, and honestly one of the better ones I've had in a while. I also grabbed a Modelo michelada and was surprised in the best way. The highlight is the workers are all so helpful and check in to make sure everyone is have a great time. Great location with plenty of parking. The food is also very delicious. It been like a year since my wife and I been here since my wife was pregnant. But we were finally able to come back and visit this restaurant with our daughter for her first outing. We were surprise that they changed building to a bigger one in the same plaza. They also changed the name from Sabroso Mexican Grill to Sbaroso Mexican Kitchen. The new location is much more modern, a bigger space, outdoor seating, a bar inside and a viewing window where you can see them making the handmade tortillas. They also updated their menu as well but the entree we like are still there. We even saw some familiar faces and they remember us as well. My wife got her chicken mole and I got my carne asada plate. They don't have strawberry fanta anymore so I got a coke for my drink and my wife got her horchata. They also charge for chips and salsa now so just be aware. Our food came out quick and it was delicious like we remember. The previous time I been here, the service was slow but this experience was much better. I also got some carne asada and shrimp blacken tacos to go as well. I'm happy to see this place growing and can't wait to come back to catch up with the manager Sam. read more

I have to say this place wasn't my first choice for lunch but other people that I was with wanted to eat here. It was either this place or Los Sanchez down the street. I have been to both restaurants in the past. I remembered eating here several years ago when they were at the original location in the shopping center. I didn't take any pictures because frankly the site of my order, the California burrito wasn't photo worthy imo. The burrito was flavorless and packed full of rice, not much of anything else. A few things that also struck me as not being very hospitable: they don't give you complimentary chips & salsa, instead they charge you $3 (did not include a refill); also we had a toddler with us that was getting restless because their plate took an inexcusable amount of time to bring it out, in fact the toddlers plate was the second to last plate of seven people to get it. I also wished they wouldn't have included a 20% tip because I definitely wouldn't have left them what we "had" to. Hope this information helps the next family that considers eating here. read more
