This place is so good! I worked at a Pennsylvania butcher stand similar to this one. And I can tell you the products here are top notch. They have all of the Pennsylvania treats, beef jerky, Lebanon bologna, ring bologna, cheeses, and tasty ham. There are a lot of great stands at Lancaster Central Market, but this one is a must stop. Rodney was "Johnny on the spot" when we walked in to the store. He helped us with the variety of new cheeses to try and then proceeded to prepare us. The most delicious exquisite tuna sub I have ever had. He was kind, the shop was clean, the bathrooms were clean and everything was stacked up. My sub was scrumptious and could not have had a better experience anywhere! He made my sub to exquisite perfection and designed it probably better than I would have and I can't give him more than five stars but if I could, I would. I simply don't come in here enough. This is a total gem of a store. I frequent their stand at Central Market and even the larger store across town, but sadly drive right by this location too frequently. This little store is chock full of not only their deli and cheese items but also other local products from other vendors. Their deli is well stocked, the cheese options are endless, the bacon is killer, and the freezer here is also well stocked. The people are genuinely kind and patient, happy to answer any question and quick to assist. MTO sandwiches, baked goods and coffee seem to be plentiful. I only popped in with one purpose in mind, but found myself wandering because there were so many options to look at. read more

This is one of Lancaster's best kept secrets, that I am about to expose - their sub sandwiches are packed to the brim with meats and veg, for maybe $8; is this even possible, in this day and age. This review is for their stand at Central Market. I was overwhelmed by the wonderful display of meats and cheeses. I'm a very indecisive person so I stood there for a while, I was asked several times if I needed help and finally I asked them to suggest something. I was given a piece of french fromage called D'Affinois. YUM. I couldn't wait to get home and eat some. Everyday I'd eat a slice on a piece of toast until it was gone. The good: Their sharp cheddar habanero cheese is out of this world. The cheese is nice and sharp and stands up to the heat and flavor of the habaneros, It is my favorite cheese ever. The bad: If you're buying something online, in my experience, the service is very slow. I paid $25 in shipping to send a one-pound box of candy and 3 small pieces of cheese from PA to FL. My order didn't even leave their building for seven days. In total it took ten days for the order to arrive at the recipient's home. If this were 1955 that would be okay. What a treasure! Delicious, made to order sandwiches, breakfast all day, coffee and divine baked goods. Perfect for business meetings and friends. You won't be able to leave without taking something from the well stocked deli or bakery home with you. A few favorites are the Ham and Brie Panini, Chipped Dried Beef, Whoopie Pies in many flavors but my favorite is the Oatmeal. Buy at least three, one for the freezer, one to put in the fridge and one to eat while you are paying! Quaint, clean and yummy, with Lancaster County hospitality. OMG!! I'm addicted to this place!! When I was pregnant my hubby and I were at the market downtown and I tried their spinach turkey wrap, whoa! Best ever!! Then I found out weavers is also located in East Pete!!, whoa, sooo now I send my hubby there on a regular lol.. I get the spinach wrap with turkey no cheese, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce and salt pepper and oregano.. Soo yummy!! With mayo!! The plus side is they are affordable!! I make it to S. Clyde's at this location about once a month. I'm all about the cured meats--sausages, kielbasa, bockwurst etc. it's all fabulous. They also have the best pimento cheese spread around--and I'm a lifetime connoisseur, believe me. But beyond this---the staff are really nice and helpful. And they have lots of other great temptations of both the sweet and savory variety....so I go with a short list but come home with some added surprises every time. This is a smaller version of the Weavers on Manheim pike, but they have just as good food. First of all, someone waits on you immediately, then you get a personalized sandwich. Clyde Weaver Italian sub on white with provolone cheese, a thin layer of mayo, pickles, crushed hot pepper, black olives, lettuce, a 2nd layer of pickles, and salt/pepper/oregano. I have been a fan of this store for years! My current favorite sandwich is their tuna salad in a wheat wrap with their store made marinated onions, pickled onions and other high quality fresh add ons! Their own recipe rope sausage is great for dinner or along side of eggs for breakfast. read more

some of the best subs in lancaster. i've had their italian and ham versions and they are both fantastic. their own smoked ham is awesome. sub rolls are fresh and you can get any combination of cheese/fixings you please. even though this store is considerably smaller than the east pete store you can still find a lot of dry goods, many of which are locally made such as the spaghetti sauce from cortazo. they also have prepared foods, breads, and desserts. great place to go for lunch or pick up dinner! read more

I've been a fan of S Clydes for many years. The store is clean, the staff friendly and attentive and the selection of meats and cheeses surpasses that of other establishments of a local level. That said, they have lost my custom. While the store itself is clean, the workers lack food hygiene. Wearing one glove is common when serving food. Two is apparently a chore. While the idea, although not one promoted by the health department, apparently is to touch food with the gloved hand and everything else with the bare hand, it never quite works out that way. My last server was observed, with his one gloved hand, working in the back. He came to serve me, wiped both hands on his apron, picked up meat with his dirty glove, then took money and gave me change with the dirty glove. He went on to serve the next person, with the same glove. Can I please point out that these gloves are not to keep your hands clean or to prevent you from washing them? They are there to put a barrier between your WASHED hands and the food you are touching, to be removed BEFORE you touch money. This one gloved use practice is common among select workers. It's unhygienic, not up to health codes and will prevent me from returning. One PAIR of gloves per customer is abided by in Wegmans and Whole Foods. I'll wait until they open. read more
