This area always fascinates me, there is so much to see and experience, and it's all about 100 miles away from NYC. I told my wife, let's break tradition and serve something different for Thanksgiving. Instead of a supermarket ham, let's buy a smoked ham from the Amish country. I found online S. Clive Weaver. I called the store and spoke with the manager. I asked about the store hours as well as Thanksgiving Ham. (I'm thinking it's going to be a blood bath, 1000 people running into the store screaming HAM!) The manager assured me this is not the case, there will be plenty of boneless, smoked ham for us to choose. We pulled up to, it seems like a mini supermarket. Once inside, it felt like when the Wizard of Oz went from Black & White to color. There is EVERYTHING one would need for a holiday dinner. The first thing I noticed was the beautifully arrangement of baskets. There were multiple sizes of meat and cheese baskets, I never had a sweet salami? The blocks of cheese, were cubed and served to our Thanksgiving guests. Everyone loved the unique flavors that are not regional to where I live. They also had a pie station with many different flavors of homemade pies. I brought home a Shoo Fly Pie? Filled with the warm spices of the holiday, another hit with my Family. Now for the Ham, there was a wall of ham! Ham everywhere. I chose a hefty porker, it was very easy to cook. Again, everyone loved the flavor of the smoked ham that I snuck across state lines. S. My mom was from Lancaster, and grew up on S. Clyde Weaver. Every time we visited my grandparents, we'd stop at Central Market to buy some Lebanon bologna to take back home to Florida with us. So when I came up here on a solo trip, I knew I had to keep that tradition going. I visited in the end of July, and wanted more than anything to bring back sand tart cookies since they are my all-time favorites. Only problem is, a lot of places apparently don't have them in the summer since you need cooler temperatures and lower humidity to make them. I resigned myself to not finding any, only to see tiny bags of the cookies at the S. Clyde Weaver stand at Central Market. So before I flew back home, I stopped by their East Petersburg location -- and found a HUGE selection of them! So yes, I bought my requisite Lebanon bologna -- but I also bought $50 worth of sand tarts to bring back on the plane (yes, I brought a massive bag of cookies on the plane as my personal item). Worth every penny. These were delicious, just as I remembered them from when I was younger. The location itself is huge and has a great deli selection in addition to the baked goods on the left side of the store. I was in and out pretty quickly in the middle of a weekday. I'm not sure when I'll be back to Lancaster, but when I am, I'll absolutely be stopping here to bring more treats (and bologna!) home. read more

Never had a bad experience here. Their employees are super friendly. Great place for lunch. They also have a pretty coffee selection and a nice place to sit. As the prices may be higher than your typical sub or sandwich chain it's worth it for the quality. I am a fan of their chicken salad which has grapes. My favorite baked oatmeal of theirs is the cherry almond. You can get breakfast all day. They also sell cute kitchen decor items and gift items. I was here several times for lunch before today. The sandwich counter and ordering and paying is IMHO confusing and slow. There are plenty of people there to help but each has a particular job function it seems that results in slow service. If one member of the staff stops to chat w/ a customer, everyone else has to wait until the conversation ends. This should be addressed. The food is very good w/ a nice selection of cold and hot items, including two soup options. A plentiful bakery counter has many tempting treats. There is always a lunch special. The portions are adequate but could be a little bigger but that is a personal peeve. While you are there check out their wide selection of food and kitchen gadgets. There is sure to be something that tickles your fancy. I will be back for lunch as often as I can and I recommend that you try it out. read more

My boy and I wanted to grab a couple subs after his game, and Weaver's has high reviews. Plus their sweet bologna is a staple in our fridge. What we decided, was that this deli/store/restaurant is more of a tourist joint . We ordered two Italian subs, two warm sticky buns, and grabbed a half gallon ice tea. The total was over $27! The good: clean. Well lit. Nice displays. The sub rolls and all ingredients were extremely fresh. Made while you watch. The quality and taste were very good. The grilled sticky buns were also very go and I recommend them. The not so good: small portions for high prices. Please see the pics. This sad looking sub is not what I expected from a place like Weaver's Meats. While the quality and taste were very good, we were left wanting. Would I recommend Weaver's? If you are close, looking for something to tide you over till supper, and don't mind paying tourist prices. Great place has a big selection on everything from cheeses to meats and let's not forget the amazing coffee bar in the back of the building. A little hard to find if you don't know it's there but let your nose help cause the coffee and tea aroma will you can't miss... My mom has been taking me here since before I can even remember. It's one of the places I HAVE to go to whenever I'm in Lancaster now. Huge selection of meats, cheeses, and other food items. Great salads (I love the broccoli salad and some of the pasta salads). Lunch here is also delicious. They do custom subs, sandwiches, and soups. I'm a big fan of the turkey cheddar panini (comes with roasted peppers as well) and the ham, Brie, and apricot jam panini. So freakin' good! Everything is fresh and homemade. You just don't find places like this too often--I have yet to find anything similar in Pittsburgh. I guess that's okay because it makes trips here all the more special. read more

This is the bigger weavers store in lancaster. They have a sandwich counter, a deli counter, and a tea shop with real tea. By real tea I mean tea in containers on shelves that someone will make for you when you order it. Not Lipton or turkey hill "tea" that has nothing resembling tea in it. The store has a nice area to sit and eat your meal and lots of stuff for sale as well including local items as well as brand names. This place is a treat to go to. 4 M's or mmmm. They have it all...coffee/tea bar, delicious prepared foods like salads and dips, a deli where you can buy their own meats and cheeses and also where you can get your own made to order sub or sandwich, and fresh meats. They also have a huge selection of olive oils from around the world that you can purchase by filling a container (so you get to choose how much you buy). They also have an assortment of crackers, candy, chips, and higher end bottled dips/sauces. All in all this place is a little pricey but it is a rare gem in the glut of Manheim Pike. Love going to Weavers to try a new cheese. Weavers selection of cheeses is tough to beat. Also, they have a huge assortment of deli meats to choose from. Throw in MTO sandwiches, and a ton of soups and salads and prepared items, as well as a bakery and coffee. Topping off everything is the staff here at Weavers, who are only too eager to assist. This group is very, VERY knowledgeable about their products, and are always happy to provide a sample or describe flavors. I've yet to go wrong thanks to the crew here. Third and last time I eat here. It seems like its always the first time theyre serving. There are 9 people behind the counter that cant manage to grill a sandwich and put it on a plate in less than 20min. Their chicken salad is so sweet, you might as well eat it for dessert. The beef vegetable soup had no salt, pepper or any flavor other than the artificial thickening of corn starch or whatever they bind that thing with. Awful awful awful. Their coffee and tea are decent and their donuts are ok and fresh if you go in the morning. But dont expect them to make a decent meal. read more

I feel conflicted about leaving this review because this has been a place my family and I have always enjoyed visiting. But I feel like the quality has gone down and things are very expensive for what you're getting. Last few times we were here there was always something not right like the food being room temperature or something not coming out as ordered. I used to love the coffee but the last time I ordered a latte I watched as the barista took a soggy rag to wipe off the steam wand while it was still in the milk for my drink. I'm pretty sure the water from that probably got into the milk which was kind of gross. It's A lot of little things like that. I think it's at the point where I probably won't go back. read more

Let me preface this that this isn't the cheapest place to buy your groery items. That being said, the QUALITY of the food is well worth the extra that you pay. I LOVE their freshly made breads and pies among other things. This week I plan to pay for a pound of beef jerkey ($33.00 per pound) and its well worth it along with their beef sticks. I have never been disappointed with anything from their store and its always fresh. They also specialize in different vinegars and related oils. This is the only place I have ever seen that does this. Their ham section is among the best anywhere, along with their cheeses. Want to get off your feet and enjoy a meal? Wonderful place to go for a cup of coffee, and one of their fabulous mini scones.....I always buy 3 different kinds.......never disappointed. The atmosphere is open and airy, and there is always a newspaper available to look at........and they have free wifi. It is a great place to people watch, and if anyone reading this has never meandered through the store and sampled the goodies....meats, cheeses, crackers, etc......you are missing out. Had lunch here today for the first time. My mistake. Should of listened to my friends and came much earlier. Coffee shop is great. Soup and sandwiches are wonderful. Some of the items are a little pricey but they have a great variety. Be careful wandering through the store because it would be easy to drop $100.00 on all the neat food items. I bought a licorice log from New Zealand and it was the best I have eaten. Soft, tasty, and real licorice flavor ( sorry twistlers ). It's all about quality with Weaver's. They boast the most amazing selection of fresh meats, cheeses, subs, soups, sides & ready to heat meal items outside of Roots or Central Market. They also have some of the most unique food items as well and their super friendly staff will always let you sample anything before you buy, which is a huge bonus as some of their items can get a bit pricey. What a great little deli! Quite a selection of sandwhiches to choose from and they were all very good. They seem like so much more than a deli, it's like a healthy and fun general store.
