Credit where credit is due. Generally speaking, York is a black hole for foodies. I mean, really really bad. Perhaps the worst town for food I've ever been to in my life. So I was very skeptical when my mother wanted to take me here and swore it was good. I'll be damned, the servers were really friendly (But you's isn't a word), the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The aesthetics of the place weren't the best but it's a deli not a Michelin-star restaurant. The biggest downside is the parking situation... and to get back on George Street you just have to hammer the gas and clench your buttocks and hope for the best; it's a nasty left turn to head south out of their parking lot. read more

Has anyone visited this place recently? I went in for breakfast to go last week. Oh my gosh! I know prices have gone up everywhere, but a Ham & Cheese omelette was $15.25. A side of home fries was $6.25!!!! An Egg McMuffin type thing was $8.25. Bagel w/cream cheese. $5.25. Small chocolate milk, $4.95. 3 eggs, toast & home fries was $13.75. 2 people with just the eggs, toast, home fries and a small chocolate milk came to $41!!!! Again only eggs, toast, home fries and small chocolate milk for 2!!!!! No meat!! Before tip!! $41. I'm still in shock. No restaurant in our area is this expensive! read more

Great deli in the area! The salads are fresh, and I noticed pickled beet eggs were available which are amazing. Added to a simple garden salad and it was so tasty. Had this twice in a row! Also great selection of local Martin chips as well. The desserts looked pretty delectable, but I steered away to be healthy. read more

I went for some breakfast at My Favorite Deli - I had the Steak, mushroom and onion omelet w/ cheese and my wife had the Berry Belgium which came with strawberries. I had a little trouble finding a spot to park at first, but navigated further down the lot and we were in in a jiff. The place is comfortable and clean with a long deli counter and several small tables as well as bar seating along the sides of the front entrance. The ordering was simple and prices were reasonable. I sat done with a fresh hot cup o' joe and it was nicely flavored. They had international cafe vanilla creamer to add so I tried it and liked that too. The Berry Belgium was piled high with fresh whip cream and had berries intermixed on top. The serving was too large for my wife to finish, but I helped her with that. My steak mushroom onion and cheese omelet was also a large portion with plenty of cheese and tender steak - the mushrooms were tasty and had the sauteed flavor with the onions adding a little to the overall deliciousness. The omelet came with homefries and my choice of bread. I chose the whole wheat toast which was fresh and the homefries were well cooked and not overdone -crispy outside and soft inside - just right. We were not able to try the hot cinnamon bun with icing since they ran out, but were able to get a sugar cake which we took home. I was very pleased with the experience. I know I will be back. The place would probably get 5 stars except there were minor things like the crunchy bacon which was slightly and minor ordering stutters, but overall a great place for breakfast which is served all day or some great salads, deli sandwiches, subs or desserts. Sooooo disappointing! From the past reviews, this place prob used to be great, but it is not great anymore. I ordered a spinach, avocado grilled cheese for pick up. Wow, I have never seen a more pathetic, skimpy sandwich for $8.95! The sandwich was barely grilled, had one piece of cheese on each side of the bread (not artisan just plain whole wheat), a few leaves of spinach (with long stems) & a small sliver of avocado. Nope, won't be back. I feel completely ripped off. On the flip side, my hubby ordered the Reuben. Though it was skimpy as well, he said he liked it. Ugh. Still hungry. read more

Choice for family lunch. Haven't eaten here in years. We called in order for luck up. It was ready at the time we specified. It was accurate. I chose my old favorite, veggie sub with a side of dill dressing. The veggies were fresh and delicious. The tomatoes were just right. Bread was soft and fresh. I so enjoyed it. My family chose white Russian in pretzel roll, ham and cheese on croissant, chicken salad on croissant, and California Turkey. They enjoyed theirs as well. Pleasant, home-style deli offering breakfast and lunch. We went there for a quick bite after a business meeting before heading back to PHL airport and enjoyed their fresh, made-to-order sandwiches. Seemed like it was a popular place with the locals for it soon filled up shortly after noon. My two colleagues had their corn chowder (which they said was a little on the bland side) and their pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, respectively, which they said was quite good. I had their kale and bean chicken soup which was chock-full of kale, beans, and chicken - and very little broth. But it was hot and tasty IMO. Followed this with a chef salad and was pleased to see that it was comprised of crisp, fresh romaine lettuce and some green sprouts, sliced cherry tomatoes -- and no iceberg lettuce (so nutritionally useless!). My husband and I go here for lunch dates sometimes and we love it. The food is local and fresh everyday. Haven't had anything I haven't liked yet! Don't expect to pay under $20 for lunch as a couple though. Sandwiches are usually $6-10 and we like to share soup and a drink. Half the time I can't finish my sandwich anyway. This is a cool little spot to stop for lunch and grab an authentic deli style sandwich. Did you have a great selection of the standard Deli fair and also some inventive sandwich specials that change daily. They also have a refrigerator case with some prepared food that you can take to go. The parking lot is very awkward to get to, and I bet a lot of people drive right by it. I also think the prices seem to be a little high for what you are receiving compared to other delis. The sandwiches are good though! my favorite deli has been a great deli for as long as i can remember. this past weekend they catered my wedding reception and it was absolutely fantastic. we had 2 six foot subs, a sandwich tray, veggie tray, fruit tray, greek pasta salad, macaroni salad, broccoli salad, chips/dip, and spinach dip and crab stuffed tomatoes (along with a few other kinds of stuffed tomatoes) and absolutely everything was great. for a small fee they delivered the food to the reception site and set it up in nice dishes. for a reception of 60 people we had food left over and everybody got their fill. their prices are reasonable and certainly much much less than the standard catering company. the bill for all of our food, the set up and delivery was about $950, which is about $15/person and we had an incredible variety. you could probably feed the same number of people for less than that but we went a little crazy with ordering. i would definitely recommend my favorite deli as a lunch place if you are stopping by or as a caterer. their customer service is outstanding and they really go the extra mile to make their customers happy. read more

I would give this 5 stars normally but we have to say for going here the first time ever we were greeted by an older lady who looked almost bothered that we were there. She didnt smile or say anything really, just looked annoyed as we asked questions and made our order. We finally got our sandwiches which were really excellent except half of my sandwich was missing tomato and sprouts! The one side had tons but the other side had only meat and a sliver of cheese. So one half was amazing but as much as you pay for these the whole sandwich should be the same. I went up to say something but she looked at me through the back and never came out so I just figured not to say anything since she didn't want to be bothered and i just threw it out. We love My Favorite Deli! We just moved to the area, and were upset about leaving our favorite cafe behind. We were so pleased to find this spot. Our sandwiches have always been really good, and the salads have been awesome and fresh too. They use fresh local ingredients, and you can tell in the food they produce. The macaroni salad is wonderful! Probably my favorite macaroni salad yet! They also have awesome desserts! It gets really busy around lunchtime during the week, I would recommend going before 12, or after 1...Lunchtime can get a little hectic and the wait can get long. read more

Ordered 12" Italian way. Very disappointed. Bread was very thick but without any softness. Felt like chewing through some sort of packaging material. Sandwich had very little meat on it. One slice of each meat per half. Cheese portion was good and actually overpowered the meat. Which is quite rare but with such little meat, I wasn't surprised. They mentioned that it comes with oil & vinegar on it, but I couldn't taste any. Perhaps they should look into putting it directly on the bread to soften it up. Wasn't the worst thing every but for $11.20 (20 oz soda with sandwich) I could have done a heck of a lot better other places in town. No mention of meat brand used anywhere either. Probably nothing too quality if they're going to hide it. Was hard for me to determine quality with that bread and lack of meat. read more

My Favorite deli serves up great breakfast & lunch fare within this small neighborhood. The sammies I've tried (Baltimore pastrami, shrimp salad, Ruebens) were all deli-tastic! Their steak & mushroom omelette have all been perfect except for take out visit where the eggs were a bit brown & lacking cheese. If u get a fruit cup request no bananas since the mushy fruit shouldn't be there anyway. Iced tea is sweet. They always have fresh baked cookies at the front counter. I went to the Deli one time and it will be my last. First off the parking was horrible. You park very close to a very busy street with lots of big trucks driving up and down the road. It actually took me a full five minutes to get out when I was done. When I went in to eat I had a turkey club sandwich and a fountain drink. I paid over 8 dollars for this!!! The turkey sandwich was not anything special to have costed that much. Also You do not even get chips. You can go to Isaac's and get way more sandwich and get a drink AND chips for a more affordable price. Also I noticed none of the employees wore gloves and one of the cooks in the back was chomping down on one of her finished product and a dill pickle. What really upset me was I over heard another employee, who appeared to be the manager, making very derogatory comments about an individual eating there that clearly had mental and physical disadvantages. I had heard positive things about this deli and finally stopped to check it out and buy a few things. I was very disappointed. I got 1# of macaroni salad, pasta salad and chicken salad. Macaroni salad was dry. No juice in it all. Pasta salad was dry and very bland. Chicken salad was $11.50/lb and good but dry. I cleaned up the macaroni salad by making a mayo/mustard/milk/sugar mix so it wasn't dry. Added some mayo to the chicken salad so it wasn't so dry. The pasta salad needed the most work. Huge chunks of green peppers which was ridiculous. All veggies should have been cut up smaller and it was very dry. Added some dressing and salad supreme to give it some flavor. For $23 for 3# of the above, very disappointed. The chicken salad at Walmart is so much better for $5.00. If you're going for breakfast and lunch and ordering a sandwich, maybe it's okay. But go somewhere cheaper for deli salads that you don't have to fix after you buy them. read more
