I am glad that you stand 100%behind you work, however, this is difficult to prove based on my experience and your mischaracterization of it. Loyda, yes August of 2021I brought in my son's and my Freestyle Hammerhead watches for battery replacement and pressure check. Yes they are 17 years old. Yes two of the numbers separated from the face of my son's watch. I was willing to believe that this was a problem with the watch and let it go at that. I did not make an issue of it, I merely mentioned it. You have on you part mischaracterized most of the rest of the vist as well as getting the manufacturer of the watch wrong. (I googled Freeland watches. No hits) Wouldn't that be on the work order? Did you get it wrong deliberately because you called it an "off brand "watch. You stated that I dove in Cozumel, Belize and Roatan. This too is true but you reversed the order of the dives. The watch failed on the first dive in the first country. This is something I said at least twice. (I do have a tendency to repeat myself.) Did you get this wrong accidentally? I would love to take a look at your security footage and see if I misspoke. If I did I will apologize right then and also on Yelp. I feel fairly safe making this offer though and I believe that we both know it. You stated that David opened the watch in front of me. This also is untrue. I was up at the counter waiting while he went into the shop area and checked out the watch and drained the water. He called me back there after he had opened it. He told me that it was hard to open, proving that the seal was tight. If the seal on the crystal was at fault (it would have to be the crystal, the bezel is a ratcheting wheel attached to the case of the time piece and has no communicating seal with either the crystal or the works of the watch.) Why was it hard to open? There would be no added suction. David said something to the effect that it was unfortunate but not your fault. I called the manufacturer they said that the likely culprit was a poorly installed seal. Could I get it pressure checked again. I went back in. David was with another customer who was picking up an aluminum 80. He asked me to wait. He went back to the work area after the other customer left while I waited by the counter. I did not watch the procedure as you asserted. David brought the watch out to me and described what had happened. I am sure that the security footage will also bare this out. This is another easily proven mischaracterization. The final point you ticked off of your four, was this is my first Yelp. This is true. I have never in my 60 plus years felt the need to write a bad review for anyone. I usually just let it go, and never go back. I did not attempt to hurt your business. I reported what happened to my gear when I visited your shop. Yes my watch is as much a part of my gear as any other piece of instrumentation. Your misrepresentations will undoubtedly hurt your business more than my first Yelp. I usually ascribe most bad reviews to cranks with nothing better to do. I did not lie or misrepresent about any part of my experience at your shop. Yet you implied that my " aging," "off brand" watch needed to go back to the manufacturer for rework. You wrongly stated that I dove in two different places before it failed. You stated that I witnessed the checks on the watch. Then you stated that the security footage bares out your claims. You have my phone number on the work order. Call me and we can watch it together. I will publicly apologize to you and do so on Yelp if have mischaracterized any point of this. I was angry before. I have gone somewhat beyond that now. I was going to throw the watch away before I was shown your post. Now I am going to send both of them back to the manufacturer to be repaired and to try to ascertain, if possible, why the watch failed at 60 feet on my first dive after your shop serviced it. If I am right or wrong, I will bring you the report. I will apologize for the first post and print a retraction for it, if the back seal was not at fault. Will you do the same if it was? read more

They are truly PASSIONATE about giving their customers the best experience possible in the shop and underwater! I have taken five dive/specialty courses with them and each time the instructor runs the class schedule on the student's time and not the prescribed course time. Repeating instruction on material that a student had difficulty comprehending and even asking another instructor to come into the classroom to see if they could help teach the material so the student could learn it. During my Open Water Dive course, I had problems understanding how to work the RDP tables to calculate my surface intervals between dives. I walked into the shop on lunch one day and David was working on a mountain of paperwork at the counter. He greeted me and asked how I was doing and if I needed any help. I described my RDP problems and he stopped what he was doing and asked me if I had 5 minutes. I said sure, and he walked me into the classroom and taught me the RDP tables from scratch. By the end of the 5 minutes I knew how to use the table forward and backwards. When he could have sent me to a Youtube link to watch to try and learn it and continue working, he took the time out of his busy schedule to teach me. When I decided to buy a BCD, Wanda talked to me about the pros and cons of each style they had in the shop and ensured I tried them on to see which one fit best. She would check and make sure that each manufacturer's BCD fit me correctly and had me move around to see how restrictive each BCD was. She then went through the key items to check to ensure the BCD fit me correctly. When she found out the Zeagle Covert was not in stock in my size, she asked David if she could borrow his personal Covert BCD. David grabbed his BCD loosened all the straps and handed it to her for me to try on. When I decided to go with a newer model that cost more, Wanda did a side by side comparison and told me I didn't have to get the newer model. I informed her I liked the feel of the newer model to which she replied it is this much more are you sure? It wasn't about profit, it was about doing right by me the customer. Plain and Simple, you don't get this level of service elsewhere! read more

David has not only pulled me out of my shell to seek the world of diving, but has also shown me to be confident in my actions and in my performance underwater. He has opened up the underwater world to me and has given me the opportunity of adventure. Being apart of SA Scuba Shack has exceeded my expectations for diving. Not only has David helped me to find my passion, but also has helped to realize my future career in the world of Marine Biology and SCUBA. There is no one like David. He shows much patience and takes his time with each student, while also giving you the best memorable experience while learning. David also keeps in touch which shows he cares about his students and wants to educate and share what he enjoys as well. Going into my journey of scuba diving, I already knew the SA Scuba Shack crew because I met them at my old job where they hold their monthly meetings; therefore I knew they were good, fun people to work with. What I didn't know was how they would be when it came to teaching, and let me tell you, I couldn't have found a more perfect establishment to learn from. I had two instructors, David & Loyda. David taught our classroom session, he explained everything in a way that not only made sense but to the point that there was no confusion about the given topic. My water sessions were by far the most amazing experience I've ever had. Loyda was more than outstanding, at some points during our skills assessments, my nerves were going and she managed to get me to just breathe, understand that I was ok and feel confident being underwater. There was never a doubt in my mind that I wasn't safe or couldn't do a skill because of how Loyda communicated with me and reassured me she was there with me the entire way. Totally recommend!!! After much research and MANY phone calls, we chose SA SCUBA Shack to certify our 17 yr old son. They were very knowledgeable & passionate, about diving. I spoke to Brandon at the SHACK. He made sure all of our questions/concerns were addressed to alleviate any anxiety our son ( and I ) may of had. Our son is now certified and feels very confident about his diving abilities. One of the things I love most about the SHACK is the sense of family that this group has offered. In addition, they also contribute back to the community in more ways than one. There is the HERO SCUBA GROUP, which through scuba diving, outings and support, helps Veterans and First-Responders who are dealing with trauma/anxiety (which I know about first hand!) reduce the effects. My daughter (age 11) and I decided to get our scuba certification through SA Scuba Shack. We could not be more pleased with the entire process. Everyone there is very friendly and we instantly felt part of their family. Our instructor Paul was incredible!! He is an excellent teacher and we have learned so much from him. He is fun and incredibly patient with my young daughter. We are now both Scuba certified and have a great new passion and hobby to enjoy together. A+! These guys are awesome and love what they do. They're extremely helpful and are more than willing to answer any questions you may have. My girlfriend and I were looking to get Open Water certified a few weeks prior to a trip we had planned to Hawaii, and they accommodated our busy schedules to make it happen. We were the only 2 in the class, and we weren't charged any additional fees for the 1-on-1 instruction (other places we checked with charged as much as $200 more). Courtney was our instructor, and he took great care of us. We also interacted with David, Victor, Billy, and Steve -- all great guys. Wanting to learn how to scuba dive and being completely new to the sport I didn't know where to go for instruction. I began by reading online reviews and based on those reviews decided to check out the Scuba Shack. Within my first five minutes of talking to David and Victor I knew I'd made the right decision. The classroom instruction, as taught by David, was both highly informative and entertaining. Loyda made me feel very much at ease during my water sessions while explaining and demonstrating the skills portion. After years of wanting to do the course, I finally got my PADI Open Water certification with Loyda. The class is very well taught and practice dives are fun and informative.
