We lost my wife's phone on lady bird Lake in Austin Tx. After canoeing on the lake, the worker at the canoe rental suggested using Lake Travis Scuba to retrieve the phone from the water because it's about 20" deep if not more. We reached out to them but Robert Weiss the owner of Lake Travis Scuba was not available until later that afternoon and we were on vacation and didn't have the time to wait.. We took it as loss. A week later after we were already home in Houston Robert reached out to us stating that while he was rescuing someone else's phone he came across my wife's phone and since my wife had left her info at the front desk Robert was able to reach out. He sent us the phone and only charged us the delivery fee!! I sent him a little extra after we received the phone but he never gave a charging amount. My nephew and I went out on the Giant Stride with Captain Robert Weiss and Dive Master Tron Green. It was the Friday Sunset dive, and the rest of the party was made up of very experienced divers. Ben and I hadn't touched our gear since being certified (in 2007 and 2012), and we were nervous about being so green. I finished up my Advanced Open Water Diver course aboard the Giant Stride. The captain was a cool guy, knows the lake well as well as the people on it (knew the cops and a couple other boaters). He also paid close attention to our safety and was always ready for us when we would resurface. He had a collection of sunglasses that the divers have found while on his boat - when we got to shore at the end of the day he gave out the glasses to the kids that were playing on the beach. I dove with this guy once. Seemed nice. Knew everything about the areas we were going to dive, leading to a great dive. Then I got added on Facebook (he asked that we find him, so he could tag us in photos). That's when things took a turn. He's crazy about anti-Clinton/Muslim-Obama stuff and Trump being the only answer. I'm all about supporting your candidate. But he just spews crazy conspiracy stuff. Then he took to insulting anyone that had any differing opinion. One girl already dropped off his page (or he removed her/her comment) because she, "just wanted to dive" and didn't expect this amount of hate. He insulted another commenter by saying how HP (where I'm assuming this person works) is doing so bad because of the "backward thinking employees" they hire. While he did know his diving...I just can't see supporting someone that was so insulting to people just because they had a different opinion. There are other ways to dive Lake Travis. Wow! Talk about exceeding your customer's expectations, Robert and Lake Travis Scuba succeeded! As part of an Advanced Open Water certification course this past weekend, my teenage son had the chance to dive off Robert's dive boat. He's a typical teenager, rarely releasing information, much less bragging about exceptional service, but he returned to shore raving about his dive boat experience. Apparently Robert knows how to treat his customers, such as handing the divers their fins as they enter (or taking fins from them as exit) the water and taking pictures of each diver to share via Facebook. He also keeps the boat meticulously clean, well maintained and functional (including special flooring to allow water to drain away and avoid messy/slippery situations). Thanks Robert, your dedication to your customer made my son's first dive boat experience positive and very memorable.
