Been meaning to stop by here and try out their Sukiyaki bowl after seeing the photos on Yelp. First of all, the restaurant was simple and clean. The service was attentive and great! It was quite busy for Sunday lunch. Beverages: FRESH WHOLE COCONUT: refreshing and delightful THAI ICED COFFEE: not a fan, it's too sweet Appetizer: FIRECRACKER SHRIMP: came out hot, crispy and absolutely delicious eggs rolls served with savory sweet chili sauce. Main course: SUKIYAKI: It was an interesting twist but the use of thin bean thread (angel hair) noodles in the pho broth missed the mark, it didn't complement well together. The texture of the noodles were a bit tough and grainy. On the plus side, there was a generous amount of beef and shrimp which definitely makes up for it. The homemade sukiyaki sauce was very tasty along with a few other table condiments--chili oil, pickled green peppers, red chili flakes, and crushed peanuts. Arrived when the order was supposed to be ready and had to ask multiple times to check on it. 20 minutes after the scheduled pick up and still waiting. Don't promise a time if you can't make the food in that window. Best Thai/Laos restaurant I've ever eaten at. Portion are great and service and staff were good. The seating area was roomy and the tables were not too close together. I love this restaurant because it is very authentic to the traditional Lao flavor. I ordered 7 items and would really give it a 8 over all for flavor. Papaya salad was on point just like how I make it. Bathroom is super cold, not a comfortable place if you want to put your butt cheeks and take a dump. Today was my second visit with my husband at Sabaidee. The first time we came, we absolutely loved everything. Service was great, food was spectacular, and the ambiance was on point. The second time was a bit disappointing. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, however I didn't get the same type of rice that I originally received. Our server on our initial visit was new so it could have been an honest mistake. The manager was gracious enough to remake the pad Thai rice that I requested so I was appreciative but made us still pay for the rice that was not requested. The only cons I have is the wait time for the food as well as having to pay to try condiments (i.e. having to select between sweet and sour or sweet chili sauce) or get one extra. I've never been to a restaurant that was so tight on sauce. I understand if you're requesting an excess of sauce but if you get almost a whole bowl of chicken I don't see how getting an additional sweet and sour sauce would be an issue. What happened to this place? It's been a while since my family had visited. They made some major renovations to their dining room, but have the same amount of tables, sans a high top community style table. Despite the appearance, the operations is struggling in a big way. If you can't handle a full dining room seating table after table, plus figure in to-go and all the DoorDash type services, you might want to take a pause. I would rather wait for a table for 20-25 minutes than sit at a table and not get acknowledged for 15 minutes. I could tell the servers were struggling with just figuring out who was waiting on who. Pretty chaotic and hard to watch. Having your servers busy tables in the middle of this is terrible. Hire someone to bus tables!!! I get that you're super busy, but you need to reevaluate your processes. The food is good, once you get it. I really hope they can find a good staff to help it get back to what it used to be to be. Apparently, few minutes before my family got there, a big group was seated and they stated it was a 45 min wait until we're able to be seated eventhough we reserved a seat? The last time I visited, they were only taking call in to-go orders. My go to at Sabaidee Cafe will forever be the Sukiyaki! I've had Sukiyaki at several Asian restaurants, and Sabaidee is always comes out on top. Although, I don't frequent this establishment as much as I use to due to their inconsistent hours and closures. read more

Love! Love! Love their pineapple fried rice and Thai fried rice!!! The flavors are amazing! The Thai tea is what you'd expect! We've ordered from them at least 5 times and I've finally remembered to Yelp them! We only order to go, so every time I get it home, I immediately start eating and forget to take pictures! Their wait time may be a little longer than most, but it's well worth it to me. They can also bring on the heat, so remember that the 1 out of 5 can still bring tears to your eyes if you're not ready for that sensation! My husband even bought one of their t-shirts because he really admired the design they created. So try them out if you're ever on that side of town! read more

The chicken satay with peanut sauce was good, I normally don't enjoy it, but I couldn't stop eating it, i always order it for my son.. papaya comes with cabbage or pork rind, I got both for a dollar extra.. the taro smoothie was ok.. the pork belly thing I got was delicious!! Pretty popular cafe. Has a mixed crowd of people but something for everyone. I ordered Kao piek sen with pha thang go (chinese cruellers). The others ordered sweet and sour chicken pepper steak, and pho beef. My chinese cruellers kept getting stolen because they were cut up into bite size pieces that the boys.. wouldnt stop eating! Had to visit the newly renovated Cafe. The atmosphere seem more of the industrial look. Which was a look I didn't expect. We Didn't have to wait to get seated which was a surprise for a Saturday. Ordered some hot tea and some shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce. Always a good starter. Then I had to wait a minute for my combo PHO. Definitely took longer than usual. Plus, My server never came back to offer me the sides it was suppose to come with. I'm not one to complain. So, I just ate what I ordered. PHO was good as usual. Currently writing this review as I sit here and wait for my order placed at 5pm on a Tuesday evening to be ready, it is currently 6:12pm. On a previous occasion I was told that it would be an hour and 45 minutes for my take out order to be ready. This too was on a weekday afternoon when the restaurant was half full. We tried Sabaidee Cafe tonight for the first time. The food was excellent! We both had the Chicken Pad Thai and loved it. You get to choose your heat level when you order. We also had the Pork Wontons as an appetizer which were very good. As of the writing of this review, you can only do carry out or delivery. The restaurant is going through renovations and you cannot eat inside. We're very excited about the rest of the menu and want to try some of the other menu items. Sabaidee Cafe in Murfreesboro TN was definitely worth the 40 min drive for us. One of the best Laotian - Thai food we've had in this region. Sampled several dishes- drunken noodles, red curry, and chicken wings were the best I've ever had. Unique spice and flavor, one that dazzled my taste buds and afterwards left me craving for more. My first time trying Laos sausage at a friends recommendation- simply amazing.. crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside with such an interesting flavor with heat!! Their version of Pho had a slightly different broth from the Vietnamese style pho. It was very good, but I am just very partial to the Vietnamese style pho. I think though there are some who may prefer this style. Our server was so friendly, patient and helpful in guiding us to the right dishes which made further elevated this experience. Beware though, and do listen to their spice recommendations! - 3 out of 5 spice packed much much heat(to be fair she did warn us)! If you do not tolerate spice, recommend to stick to 1 or 2. Sticky rice was so so good and helped balance the heat. I've heard Murfreesboro has many excellent Asian restaurants and this place was certainly one worth writing home about. This is not a complaint about the food. The food was a excellent. I have tried to order three times. 2 times they said they were going to close in an hour and told they can't take my order. Today I went to the restaurant to.order in person so they can't deny me. Again it was closed. "We are closed for an off site event." This place closes early at like 6 or 7 pm. How can you expect to have business when you are closed more than you are open??? We love Sabaidee Cafe! The food here is absolutely amazing. Everything is made when you order, so it does take a few minutes but it is so worth it. Sabaidee has converted my picky fiancé into someone who routinely wants to stop in and craves their food! The staff is very rude. They are young teenagers. They roll their eyes in front of you and gossip to each other. My friend knows them on social media and said that they talk crap about their customers on social media all the time!!! We ate here twice. First time was when they first opened and my Asian husband did not approve of their food. I thought their food was very very bland. We had the pad Thai and the pho with 2 boba teas. Very Bland. The second time I went was recently and was wondering if they food had improved. Well it didn't. The pataya salad was sooo nasty. Left it. The fried rice was too hard for my kids. And the pho was still bland. Again the staff kept rolling they eyes when I asked them for my dish I never got and any necessities to eat like forks and napkins. - If you want Thai food nearby go to Bubble Tea literally down the road. They are very respectful elderly couple. Their food tastes so homemade! I absolutely love their drinks and it's cheaper too! I always tip the elderly couple good because they deserve it. read more

My wife and I stopped in Sabaidee tonight for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. There have been several different restaurants in this space over the years, but I hope Sabaidee will be around for a long time. It's a quiet, welcoming atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and took great care of us. I started out with a pineapple bubble tea with coconut jellies. Fantastic, it's instantly my go to drink next time I visit. We also had crab wontons for an appetizer. These aren't the frozen kind you'll find at your average Chinese restaurant, it was freshly made and delicious. I had the chicken kaeng phet, a red curry with coconut milk. Again, incredibly fresh and delicious. I didn't think I could eat it all at first, but I couldn't stop putting it away. Just the right amount of heat and an addictive flavor. Seriously, visit Sabaidee and see for yourself. Become a regular and visit often, Murfreesboro needs a great restaurant like this to stay in our community. I plan on doing my part and stopping by whenever I can. read more

A few minor details kept me from giving five stars. I'll explain that and comment on the food. Bottom line is that I left there very full. One indicator of how good a restaurant is would be the number of native diners are in the restaurant. In this case, the clientele was over 50% Asian American. I tried three dishes. There was the Lao sausage, hot and sour soup and "bubble" tea. All of them were wonderful. What ever was in that sausage was great! I'm not that familiar with Asian sausage but loved this. The grilled casing was snappy and added to the flavor. Inside the sausage was nicely flavored. It was not very dense. They gave me three links about the size of a knockwurst with a great hot and spicy dipping sauce. It was great. Hot and sour soup was next on the menu and it was just great. I judge Asian restaurants by this dish and loved it. The broth was rich, and there were lots of tasty vegetables with tofu. Lastly, I got one of their teas. It was the first time I had bubble tea with jellies. I thought I was getting the usual bubbles, but flavored. No, there were little julienne strips of flavored jellies. Oh, and there was one nice touch. The chopsticks they gave me were REAL. These were not disposable ones, but nice, long plastic ones. So, you want to know what I did not like, so here goes. - A fancier dining room would be nice, but this was clean and airy - It was very busy during off hours and there were lots of people waiting - When my meal was served, I did not get utensils or napkins. - The bathroom was freezing cold. read more

As mentioned in other reviews, Murfreesboro has a huge Lao community, and it's great to see a restaurant come around that truly states it serves Lao food. Most of the other Lao establishments in the area brand themselves as Thai restaurants for familiarity, but not Sabaidee Cafe. While they do have some menu items that are more familiar to the regular Thai food eater, the flavors are Lao. They also have menu items that are specific to Lao cuisine like long bean/cucumber salad and khao piek. I ordered cucumber salad (thum mak thang) with the chicken wings and really had no complaints. Everyone makes their salad "thum" differently, but it was honestly really good and tasted like I was at someone's home. I had a sip of my boyfriend's pho broth which was also very savory and tasty. In the future, I'd like to see them to serve even MORE traditional Lao dishes on the regular menu and ditch the Chinese food (seriously, why the sesame chicken?). People shouldn't be afraid to try Lao food, and this is an evolution I'd really like to see from an establishment that firmly claims it's Lao roots! read more

Finally. Lao Proud. A true Lao resto. Top to bottom. Lao. Not Thai. The Lao community has quietly made a home in Murfreesboro and surrounds for almost 40 years and Lao cuisine has been overshadowed, even here, by the cuisines of Laos' more populous neighbors, Thailand and Vietnam. But, the Lao dominate the Murfreesboro Asian food and grocery scene, so it's long overdue that we get a Lao proud café right here in Murfreesboro. Tell your friends this is Lao food through and through and don't let anyone tell you it's Thai. There's a big difference and you can help friends and family add another country's cuisine to their repertoire. (I'm a slobbering fan of Thai food, so no shade being thrown here; it's just important to distinguish, like Carolina vs Memphis style 'cue.) And, Yelpers, it's fantastic. My family's new favorite place. No MSG or salt hangover. Clean, bright flavors. Bright, cheery, young surrounds. No dusty, rigid stereotypical Asian tropes here. Just good, simple food, in a cheery corner of this plaza. Super fast service. Convenient to I-24 if you're on the west side of Murfreesboro, zooming past (or close enough to smell the garlic). The food is very good. My boys and I took my mom, possibly the harshest critic of Lao food that I know. Sabaidee Cafe passed the test with flying colors. Twice in two days. Over two days, we had: Chicken satay Fried chicken wings Papaya salad Long bean salad Cucumber salad Mee kati Duck noodle soup (or pho) Seafood noodle soup (or pho) Shrimp fried rice Green curry shrimp - native hot Roti or "loti" - an Indian griddle bread served with sweetened condensed milk--sounds wrong but try it and you will swoon for more Best papaya and long bean salads I've had in Middle Tennessee. Yes, in my opinion, better than King Market. What I always look for is the lime wedge in the salad. That tells me the lime juice is fresh and not bottled. It makes a big difference. The tomatoes are dark red and tasty ripe. If you're not familiar with the Lao language, you'll see familiar Thai salad items: papaya salad, long bean salad, cucumber salad. These last two are quintessentially Lao. I suggest you order them without the fermented shrimp paste, unless you love that funk, in which case, enjoy it Lao style. We had the special, mee kati, which is like a Laksa. A curry broth with rice noodles, squares of blood (if you're not used the this, ask them to leave it out--it's not gross at all, a mild mineraly flavor with soft tofu-like texture--the flavor is similar to blood sausage), kaffir lime, finely shredded banana blossom and finely shredded cabbage. It was excellent, as if my own mother had turned it out. It came with ground roasted chilis and whole roasted dried chilis. The pho is good. The broth clean and flavorful. It is a little sweeter than Vietnamese pho broth. The accompanying veggie plate is also quintessentially Lao--fresh hot chili peppers, fresh crispy long beans, mint, basil, mung bean sprouts, and slices of lime. I almost cried. The fried chicken wings are done properly and they're tasty, oozing with turmeric from the marinade, super crispy light rice flour dredging and steaming hot so be careful! The chicken satay is exceptional. Creamy coconut and turmeric marinade, nicely grilled, tasty, juicy. The accompanying dip, pickled cucumber and onion is obviously house made with care and the balance between piquant and sweet is on point. The fried rice, I asked to be done Lao style with none of the peas and carrots nonsense. The result was a fine, eggy, steaming hot plate of shrimp fried rice. My comfort food. Excellent. The green curry exploded with intense herbal notes. Is it possible, this curry is being made in house, fresh? Wow. A note about heat level. The Lao love their food spicy hot. Suggest you go into the experience asking for very mild if you don't like it hot b/c they don't play here. If you ask for native hot, you will be crying and holding your ears (which makes me so happy, BTW). Don't forget the sticky rice. It comes in a little sticky rice holder, called a "thip khao." And, pull it out with your fingers, roll it in a ball and dip with abandon. The portions here are good for me. Not massive portions and not too small either. (I always vote for smaller portions, but that's me.). The value is good. This place is going to get a lot of my business b/c I want them to stay around! read more

If it wasn't for the papaya salad, I would've gave it a 2 star. We were craving Lao food so we decided to finally venture out here. We got there around 7 PM on a Friday night, and there were only 2 tables open so we were hopeful. Packed restaurant = good food. It seemed as there was only one waitress, for a dozen or so tables. So, you guessed it, service needs major improvement. Although she did have 2 girls helping her with drinks, busting tables, and run food, its impossible for her properly manage all the tables by herself, no matter how nice she is. It took 15 mins by the time we sat just to order our food. And another 20 minutes for the food to come out. We ordered the papaya salad - hot, fried chicken wings, and Kao Pad Kee Mao. The wings - you get 6 smaller than average size mix of drum and wingettes. The wingettes, what happened to the wing ends? There none, and that's my favorite part (see pictures). The flavor was good, wasn't too salty and seasoned well. However, the texture was off, it wan't complete crispy as I expected. It was greased down like the oil wasn't hot enough to fry yet. The fried rice - first of all, it came 5 minutes after we already received our papaya and fried wings. It was poorly presented with everything plopped on one side of the plate. It lacked flavor, but had a good amount of meat/seafood and veggies. The papaya salad - definitely made up for the wings and rice. It was the perfect combination of spicy, sweet, and sour. It had pieces of long string bean. However, lacked thai eggplant as pictured in previous Yelp pictures. Loved that it was served pork rinds. Sabaidee cafe serves true Authentic lao-Thai food. I love everything about it. It's truly homemade with fresh ingredients. I love that they opened this restaurant because it gives people a chance to taste what Lao food is all about! They serve an all around variety of food like pad Thai, pho, general Tso chicken, fried rice...and so much more. First time we got the crying tiger, the chicken for appetizer, and papaya salad. I got it 5 lvl, and honestly I love spicy so it wasn't too spicy for me. Although, my boyfriend was panting because it was too spicy. I loved it though!! Good flavor. The chicken wings were on point! Omg, it was perfectly fried, and nicely battered. The juices you taste when you take your first bite into the chicken is just phenomenal! I get it everytime I go! Second time we went we got the pho, and duck noodle soup. The pricing is reasonable and you get a good portion. I left very satisfied and full! We also had the boba tea, I like mine a little sweeter and creamier, but it's understandable. Sadly we missed out on the fresh tapioca pearls that they make to put in the drink, so go earlier if you like them! We also tried the homemade coconut ice cream that was drizzled in condensed milk and sprinkled with peanuts. It was a nice combination, and it was nice to try something new!
