I visited Sabatinos on a week night to celebrate my friend's birthday. The oil that they bring for the bread was so good! We then ordered the mozzarella frita, which was so delicious! The mozzarella was so fresh. We both wanted the swordfish for our meals, but they were out. It was really the only item on the menu that we wanted so it took us a bit to pick out some else. I ended up choosing the ravioli formaggio. I would not normally order this, but it was delicious! My friend ordered the bolognese and she really enjoyed her meal as well. We shared a pistachio cake for dessert. It was her birthday and it was a really nice touch to write Happy Birthday on the plate. The ambiance was nice, warm and welcoming. read more

This is the best Italian restaurant in the area. Pasta is made there, food is excellent, prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. What hurts it is it's Norton and not popular like Mansfield or Easton. It's a true hidden gem and if you are looking for good quality Italian food you have to check it out. I should have listened to my gut when we parked in the back of the building in the parking lot that is unpaved and riddled with dips and erosion and is PITCH BLACK. No light for safety--first sign that the customer is not a priority. Upon sitting, it took 15 mins to be acknowledged as we found out later, the hostess never assigned the table to a waitress. There was also not enough waitstaff. The appetizer took 45 mins to arrive. We ordered the fried mozzarella and it was crispy but bland. The entrees took another 15 mins to arrive by which point we were over waiting. My husband's $40 steak was burned on the outside and dry. The mashed potatoes were bland. The chicken Parmesan was soggy and the pasta was drowning in watery sauce. The one saving grace was the waitress Christie who was pleasant and engaging. We we shared these concerns with her and she was professional--taking responsibility for the kitchen and offered to remake food. We declined as waiting any longer was too much. We tried to support them during the pandemic because they were one of our favorite local restaurants but the food was sub par. You can only throw out food just so many times. Fantastic. Who knew an Italian restaurant this good would be found in Norton? My friend and I shared an app special: Steamed mussels in a light Gorgonzola broth. Wonderful. Just enough flavor and no glop. Then onto the seafood special (swordfish, salmon, scallops, and shrimp) and a perfectly prepared veal chop that's all just to die for. Efficient and friendly service with no hovering or attitude. Upscale but not offputting atmosphere, and sparkling clean everywhere. From someone with 40 years dinning experience who grew up in Philadelphia, New York, this quaint little place in Norton Massachusetts, rates top in its game. The bar tender lady was friendly and made a wonderful Manhattan. She was knowledgeable of the numerous wines and offered tastes before one committed to a glass. The Fruiti de Mare was just fabulous. Gone downhill. Pizza oven is never on and the food is not very good. No professional bar tender like in the past and no real chef.

Bad dining experience. We have been visiting this family's restaurant since they were in Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood. We have always enjoyed the Norton Restaurant. We had no need to read reviews as things were always good...BUT, have noticed a slip in our experience there. Last night was an exercise in futility. It seemingly has changed its business plan from pleasing all to a Paradeo analysis objective of only pleasing 80% of their customers. Between a bad greeting, weakest drinks (like a casino's freebee) to over 2 hours for mediocre food. This was definitely our crowds' last time there. I'm not going to lie I'm a tough grader when it comes to Italian food but overall I enjoyed my dinner here. Service was fast and friendly. We hadn't been out in a bit so we took our time and we didn't feel rushed at all. I had veal parmigiana and it was good. The pasta is made fresh and you can tell. We've eaten here a number of times, usually at the bar. the food is generally good, I'd say 4/5 stars. The service is usually 2 or 3 out of 5 stars. Ordered a glass of wine with my meal and 10 minutes later it showed up; bartender was nowhere to be seen then spent 5 minutes chatting with waitress. If the wait staff spent less time chatting and focused more on the customers this place would be much better. The food is good. Chicken Marsala is outstanding. They just need to up their serve and place would be much better. read more

The interior of the restaurant was really stunning, it was a smaller dining area but big booths and a nice bar. The ceiling was a gorgeous copper and the brick oven was beautifully tiled in a blue small tiles. The drinks were good, I had a Moscow mule, which was a good size and another companion had a gin blossom which was strong but good. The food was about 50/50. I had the Gnocchi, which was good but lacked flavor. My companions had a veal parm and the ravioli which they both raved about being delicious. My other companions had a chicken and broccoli calzone which was alright but he said the marinara sauce was a weird consistency. The last got a chicken parmesan and could not cut through it was a steak knife, she did not enjoy it. Lastly, it was very pricey. It was almost $200 for 5 people, we did get drinks and some apps but it didn't quite seem worth it. read more

Never Again. Last night my boyfriend and I decided to check out Sabatinos for the first time and we were overall excited after reading the other Yelp reviews. When we got to the restaurant there was an hour wait, no problem for us so we grabbed some drinks and hung out around the bar. The atmosphere in there is very nice and fairly trendy for the area. A little over an hour later we were seated and things went wrong from there. It took our waiter almost half an hour to come and take a drink order (mind you at this point it was about 9/9:30 and the restaurant was clearing out with only about five tables left.) Our appetizer was the first to come out, calamari (generally our go to app in any Italian restaurant) was overly chewy and in no way fresh tasting. The next 20-30 minutes that it took for our pasta to come out was excruciating. Hoping for fantastic pasta we were surely let down. My boyfriends was well cooked with a good portion (tagliatelle bolognese) and mine had a great sauce and filling with very undercooked pasta (ravioli.) Famished at this point we finished eating in less than 10 minutes. Our waiter did not come over once to ask us about the food, he didn't even clear our plates. For he was too busy learning how to use the pizza oven (the kitchen is open to the dining room.) When someone else (not our waiter) cleared the plates he magically came out of the back and gave us our bill. Three hour horror show and we won't be back. The only positive was the fantastic bartender. She was truly amazing. read more

Sabatino's is an excellent newly-opened Italian restaurant in Norton, MA. My wife and I came for dinner on their grand opening November 1, 2012 and we have only good things to say. We would easily bet that Sabatino's will soon be considered one of the area's best restaurants. The restaurant interior is impressive and very well-designed. Nice touches for this 80-seat restaurant include upscale booths, an ornate ceiling pattern, tasteful wall art, decorative table lamps, and open kitchen. The bar area adds to the restaurant's attractiveness, rather than diminishing it. The service was very good with a friendly and happy waitstaff. The food was excellent. We particularly liked the Pesce Piccata cod fish second course dish, which was perfectly cooked and flavored. The Ravioli di Zucca (pumpkin) first course was also very good. Most of the restaurant's pasta, including this dish, is homemade. A side order of sweet potato puree added to the meal. Our small Margherita Pizza appetizer and hazelnut chocolate-filled cookies and chocolate ice cream dessert were also tasty. Prior to the meal, we were also provided bread with a bean puree dip. We didn't even know this place was open. Given the dearth of restaurants in this town, you'd think they'd at least hang out a flag. We went very early on a Saturday for dinner. The hostess was pleasant and accommodated our table request. We sat in a booth near the open kitchen where you could smell the smoke from the oven. Very pleasant atmosphere. Good signs. I looked over the entire menu which is varied enough to make everyone happy and seemed reasonably priced. And they not only make their own pasta but you can order smaller portions of the pasta dishes, which is a plus. We decided to share order a couple of basics to see if they knew what they were doing, plus a very interesting sounding pizza - the Rucola. First the bad news: the Caesar salad was possibly the worst I have ever eaten. The predominant taste in the dressing was mayonnaise. It was sweet! There was no tang or saltiness from the cheese, no brine from the anchovy despite the waitress warning a vegetarian patron that there were anchovies in the dressing. No scent of garlic. It was some form of dressed up Miracle Whip. Horrible. And the "crouton" was even worse. It's a slice of their table bread (which is pretty hard to begin with), 2 days beyond stale, rubbed with garlic, drizzled with oil and placed on a grill to heat. It was inedible - literally. You couldn't bite into it or even cut it with a knife, it was THAT hard. Avoid this like the plague. Next we tried the Bolognese. The sauce was very good. Fresh and light despite lots of meat. The homemade pasta was far too al dente for my tastes - which is pretty hard to do with a fresh pasta. I actually think it was more the thickness of the pasta that was the issue - had it been rolled out just a bit more thinly, it would have been perfect. I would order this again but I think I'd ask them to sub out the tagliatelle for pappardelle. Now the good news: the pizza. It was awesome. We ordered the Rucola - a sauce-less pizza with mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula and a balsamic drizzle. Unlike the table bread, the dough was soft and not at all crusty. It's cooked very quickly and not allowed to char much at all. No corn meal bottom, just a soft dough. It was similar to fresh pita hot out of the oven. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other pizza offerings. The service was spotty: hovering at first and then no where to be found. The bus boy clearing the table of every single item (and, at one point, reaching over us) while we're still sitting there is poor form. I chalk it up to the place being new. Nothing that can't be fixed. read more

Beautiful space, homemade pastas, and solid service. The only things I can find wrong are poor timing between dishes (not enough space between each course) and the food wasn't quite hot enough for me. They have a solid and relatively diverse wine list, and the prices are reasonable. The bolognese was excellent, and the pasta was just on the edge of al dente, which is just right for me. I liked the goat cheese appetizer, but I thought it was sized wrong. A little more balsamic reduction, less goat cheese and a bit more greens. I wouldn't hesitate coming back here again if I'm in the area, and I doubt there's a better Italian restaurant in the immediate area. read more

Came here on Mothers Day 2013 with reservations for a party of 9. The service was terrible! I would like to believe that they were understaffed or that someone had unexpectedly called out sick. Our waitress was nice but she seemed to have too many tables and very frazzled. We ordered drinks and appetizers, it took at least 15 min for the drinks to come. The wait time for the appetizers was adequate. We ordered entrees and a second round of drinks at the same time. Over an hour later, the waitress told us our drinks were on their way (she looked like she had been crying). Then our entrees finally arrived. Some hot, some cold. Finally after that our drinks arrived. I ordered the tortellini. It was completely chewy and undercooked. It was cold. My sister got the gnocchi and it was piping hot. My other sister ordered a calzone but was served the incorrect one. She didn't say anything because she didn't want to wait an hour for another one. I was thoroughly disappointed with my entree (the tortellini). I wouldn't recommend getting it, very small portion and like I said, wasn't cooked correctly. Spending $260 on a Mother's Day meal plus tip I would expect them to have better service, especially for the price of their entrees. I would expect to pay that much for mediocre food and bad service in Boston, not in Norton. read more

Being a foodie... And from the Norton area.. I generally have to travel to Providence or Boston to get authentic Italian food... That's no longer the case thanks to Sabatino's. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the bartenders are great (suggest the house sangria). As far as food goes... The pizza crust is thin and done in a traditional style...I suggest the Rucola pizza. Pasta steals the show though. Bucatini is amazing.. and anything with the lamb ragu is fantastic. Pumpkin ravioli and gnocchi are also not to be missed. If you're from the area... Definitely go by Sabatino's and give it a try. read more

We visited Sabatino's a few weeks ago with some friends and I have to say, I really enjoyed everything. The outside of the building is not much to look at, as it's converted from an old warehouse-ish type building, but the inside is really pretty and inviting. We were a party of 6 and ordered a few appetizers, as well as entrees and dessert. We all thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered, with the lobster raviolis being a big stand out. The nutella creme brulle was also OUT OF THIS WORLD. Why every restaurant on the planet does not serve this is beyond me. SO GOOD! Sabatino's makes many of their pastas homemade and we found it very reasonable in price for our party of 6. We will definitely be back! read more
