I was on a date, so I regret not whipping out my phone to photograph our food (I can't let him see my culinary quirkiness just yet! ;). But this is my second time at Cucina 38, and it remains SPECTACULAR--like Boston, Prov or NYC spectacular. The mistletoe martini was fantastic and my favorite thing is their sautéed calamari appetizer. The Caesar salad dressing is one of the best--I could bathe in it. The birthday boy had the Bolognese and I had the special--short rib tortellini. Both were excellent. As it was a BD celebration, the pistachio torta was delivered with lit candle, a nice touch for a very yummy cake. Kevin, the chef/owner, even sent over a complimentary plate of house made tiramisu truffles, which were decadent and delicious. Can't forget Olivia, our server. She was amazing and chatty and just really a special addition to a great evening. Make a reservation and go! What a wonderful, quaint little restaurants. This space has hosted many businesses over the years, and this is certainly one of the best! It is situated in downtown North Attleboro across from Town Hall. My party visited on a Friday night and was seated promptly despite not having a reservation. We were quickly greeted by the staff who helped us get settled. We ordered wine to accompany our meals this evening. The wine list offers a varied selection available in both glasses and bottles. The food menu is a slice of Italy with many options from both the land and sea. For our meals my party selected the Pan Seared Haddock and the Penne Pollo Pesto. The haddock was deliciously cooked and was flavorful, with sides to match. The pesto pasta was also very good, but there was not as much chicken as we would have hoped. Additionally, the pesto sauce was very oily and had a more grainy texture than expected. The flavor was good nonetheless. Overall this was a very good dinner experience. The service at this restaurant is courteous and efficient. I recommend this restaurant for any occasion, and suggest you make it a point to visit sometime! read more

This little hole in the wall was a slice of Italy. It had a very authentic feel and reminded me of places that I have eaten at when traveling in Italy. The polenta was delicious. The marinara was very salty. The lemon chicken and fish dish were wonderful. The salmon was done quite well but a bit too salty. The Brussels sprouts were yummy too but also slightly heavy on the salt. The cocktails were good but a little watered down- that's what I get for going with the house vodka. Our waitress was lovely and gave us great service. I liked the experience over all and will return. It was much nicer than so many of the others in the area. read more

This was a cute little restaurant, very few tables inside make sure you make a reservation. Everyone was very pleasant and the food and service was quick. We ordered calamari and bruschetta for appetizers. The bruschetta was excellent, we should have ordered more. The calamari was unique, I've never been served calamari that wasn't fried. The texture wasn't for me, but the garlic lemon sauce was tasty. I really liked my pork chops, the apricot sauce was a nice touch. read more

I went to visit friends last weekend and we went to Cucina 38 which has become a favorite of theirs. This spot is a cute neighborhood restaurant filled with yummyness. The staff at first I felt was not that friendly but once we sat down they warmed up. The waitress was kind and attentive. I ordered a salad to start which was so good and the margarita pizza which was delicious. My friend got a fennel and sausage pasta which looked so good as well. My favorite part of this meal was the cannolis. OH EM GEE! These were the best I have ever had! I could have taken them home haha. I would recommend coming here for easy casual lunch or just for some warm comfort food. read more

Hidden gem! We picked this place at random because it was within 15 minutes our our house and we were so happy we did. We arrived around 5:30ish and grabbed a seat at the bar. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. We started with a cup of the pasta fagiole and it was delicious. I had the pollo saltambocca and it was amazing! My boyfriend had the pizza. He wasn't feeling well so he couldn't appreciate it to the fullest, but we took it home to enjoy later. We loved our dinner, service and overall experience. We will definitely be back. read more

The food was good but the portions were shockingly small. I ordered the bolognese and it was served on a 9" plate. A full portion at this restaurant is the size of a half portion at a restaurant like Tavolino but at the full portion price. Growing up in an Italian family I am lucky enough to have enjoyed amazing Italian food and Cucina 38 feels like home. We tried to eat here on the weekend but even at 5:00 on a Saturday they were full and all tables had reservations against them. This alone speaks volumes. Driving by on Tuesday we called to see if they had a table and luckily they had one. When you enter the space you immediately feel the comfortable vibe. It is a small space but set up in a way that feels roomy. We started with the salami board. There were so many highlights to this! Crostini with pesto, broccoli rabe like my Nonna made it and some great cheese and meats. I had the pasta Fagioli and an arugula salad. I loved it - an Italian staple, this one tasted like childhood. My husband had the chicken Alfredo with new peas and raved. My son had the tagliatelle bolognese and loved it. To finish we had the chocolate mousse cake and espresso. All wonderful!! We started with the Burrata and prosciutto salad--those marinated roasted red peppers were outstanding--and the grilled polenta topped with their amazing marinara. For mains, we enjoyed the mezze rigatoni with perfectly browned sausage and the chicken saltimbocca. The martinis and tiramisu were spot on. We then shared the Sausage & Broccoli Rabe Tuscan Pizza and the Margarita Tuscan Pizza with Roasted Garlic, Vine Ripe Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella, and Fresh Basil. Wow! I went to Cucina 38, with my husband and two friends for the first time. Everything from appetizer to dessert was excellent. Between us all, we tried the sautéed shrimp and little necks with Tuscan White Beans, Pasta Fagioli Bianco, and the Grilled Northern Polenta, which were all delicious. For the main course, we tried the Superior New York Sirloin, the Bone in Veal Chop, and the Halibut with Risotto. Again, they were all delicious. The dessert and coffee were also great, and to top of our great experience, our waitress "Libby" was both efficient and very pleasant. We will definitely be returning! read more

What a great find. My wife and I were passing through North Attleboro and Yelped the best Italian food in the area. Cucina 38 popped up at #1 in the area. After experiencing their cuisine, we would rank them #1 in the region. The dining room was full so we were seated in the patio area in front of the restaurant. The weather was nice and the traffic in North Attleboro is light so this wasn't an issue. The wine list is limited but well selected and fairly priced. We split an order of Shrimp Bruchetta to start off our 5 star experience. The Penne Pesto was wonderful and served over homemade pasta. My wife's Gnocchi Sorrentina was outstanding. We're not dessert eaters but at this point Cucina 38 had "Big Mo" on their side so we figured we would "sample" the Chocolate Profiterole that our waitress recommended. Another home run. It was rich and creamy smooth. We scraped our plate clean. So much for our "let's order a sample" dessert strategy. In short, Cucina 38 was one of the best Italian restaurant experiences we've had in years. Reminiscent of Little Italy in Baltimore but without the gun shots. read more

I live right down the street and literally on the same road as Cucina 38. I admit that it can be difficult to run a successful and competitive Italian restaurant in such a close vicinity to Federal Hill RI... I do not envy them, but they are missing the mark here. I truly wanted this to be a stellar experience, but alas, it was not. Sorry to say, but this is an accurate 3 star.
