It started with a color correction 2018 after breakage and years for trying to reach the color that i wanted my natural hair color to reach - platinum blonde !!! When I asked for a third coat of gel as my polish still looked too sheer and bumpy, she seemed very put out. Margarite has been my stylist and colorist for many years. She has helped me with my scalp sensitivities and hair loss, introduced me to organic products and kept my hair looking beautiful, whether curly or straight. Unlike other hectic and loud salons in the area, Sabele is small and quiet, which is so much more relaxing. Her manicurists focus on their clients and are not on personal phone calls throughout the day (which is a big problem in other salons in the area). I can easily go to another nail salon in Manhattan in between jobs or whatever, but I always come back to Joy Nail. I do so not only because they're close (although that is a HUGE draw), but they have the best service around for the price (you really can't go wrong with an $8 manicure). There's no question about it. They take their time with you and do their best. I've NEVER had a bad mani/pedi from any of the nail technicians. The only reason I didn't give a full 5-star rating is because even when you make an appointment, you're frequently left waiting. It's a little bit of a downside. Also, their nail color selection seems to be shrinking. However, as I mentioned, it's the best mani/pedi in town. I will continue going back and recommending it. read more

With my due date quickly approaching (tomorrow, in fact) I decided to try and get a manicure and pedicure today before it was too late. I walked into Joy around 12:30pm and it was empty. Perfect! I was greeted as soon as I walked in by, who I assume to be, the owner and her employees. Everyone was really sweet right away! I chose the Lavender Spa Pedicure and it was fantastic. The tech gave my swollen legs a great 10 minute massage (part of the package) and I nearly fell asleep in the chair; I was so relaxed. She did a wonderful job on my manicure as well. The pricing was really reasonable, everyone was incredibly friendly, and they were so helpful getting me in and out of the chairs, even helping me get my shoes and coat on which is a big deal for someone who is about to pop any minute! I would have given 5 stars, but their nail polish selection was lacking quite a bit and the salon could use some updates. Neither will stop me from coming back though! read more

The lady that owns it is nice and attentive, I appreciate that However, it seems if youre not a regular (which i am not), they don't prioritize you whatsoever. I had three different women from start to finish of my pedicure. Im not cheap and i still tipped all three a couple dollars each (stayed on my budget) but this was quite annoying to me. Mariella is awesome. She's always busy so you have to book your appointment in advance. She always does a great job despite the fact that she's not slow and works pretty quickly. A mani/pedi usually takes her 45min to 1hr tops. Highly recommended. Prices are standard. After 10 marked visits on their business card, you get a complimentary manicure or eyebrows done. read more

I've gone here several times for a brazilian wax, and they've always done a good job. It's as painless as you could ask for (though, a brazilian can never be painless...). I've always had Jenny do it, and she works fast and is very concerned with your comfort! I've also gotten a pedicure here which was good. Place is clean, and nearby. I've had such great experiences at this beautiful salon! The owner, Ms. Margarite, is very warm & welcoming to all customers. It is truly her passion to help her clients look & feel their best. She redid my angles & layers the exact way I asked her to. She also completed a hydration mask treatment which really revived my hair. I get so many compliments on my hair now! She outdid herself even more when I received the carbon laser facial treatment; my skin was glowing just after one treatment! Went in for a pedicure, was not a very good experience. It was not relaxing, the lady that did my toes was rough and she made my cuticles bleed, she trimmed too much off the sides of my nails. I like to get pedicures so my feet feel good, my one big toe is still healing almost a week later. I won't go back to this salon. read more

By far, the best nail salon in Queens. Although the nail polish colors are slim pickings, the girls that work there (Mariela and Veronica) are fabulous manicurists. They take their time to cut your cuticles and give great massages. The owner, Lisa, doesn't speak much english so you're better off asking her simple yes or no questions. I usually take my own polish, only because if it chips I like to have the color to be able to touch it up myself. Anyway, this place is great. And the prices are awesome. read more

I've been a customer there for 2 years. Mariela and Veronica are the best mani/pedicurists ever!!!! I was really happy to go there every two weeks. But... the owner/manager (Chinese lady) simply doesn't know how to keep their customers, doesn't care much about their reputation. She barely speaks English. She is rude and unprofessional. I am a new mom, so, for me it turned to be hard to come there and I started to schedule the appointments. And TWICE my appointments were taken by someone else. This lady just gave it to another customer without letting me know.! All of the staff know me well, know that I have a baby and I have to drive there cause live far. The owner just kicked me out!!!!!! Why does she schedule any appointment if she is not going to reserve them? And after it happened to me again and she just said I didn't schedule the appointment, I was so mad and I promised her never come back there again. I've been to Joy Nail Salon about three times within the past two months. Having previously lived in Detroit and Washington, DC seeing the prices for Joy's Nail Salon was like a shock to me. Getting your nails done in NYC is probably cheaper than anywhere else in the US. But anyways, I go to Joy's for their $16.99 mani/pedi. This special runs from Monday- Wednesday. I have also gotten an under arm wax from here as well. The shop is very clean and they do a pretty good job. You can also request for your own box and bring your own supplies with you. I loved the scrub I got with the Pedicure and she did a great job getting the cuticles on my toes. My polish job usually last over 3 weeks for my feet. For the hands I can go a good week, but I do keep my hands in water quite often. Oh and make sure to get a business card, on the back they have a frequent visitor card, after your tenth visit your manicure is free! They use Essie polish and they have a pretty nice selection of colors. Next time your in the neighborhood check out Joy Nails. read more

BUTT there is a huge difference when I have to talk about the owner. She is so rude with clients. I used to go there once per week but I stopped to go cuz the owner (chinese lady) got mad cuz Olga one of the manicurist (the best in there) took a little bit longer doing my pedicure than usually takes. The owner told me I cannot make an appointment with Olga anymore just with Mariela , which is another manicurist she is good but I don't like her . Olga already knows how to do my work. I love her. Anyways I got mad cuz the owner was rude with me telling me with whom should I get a mani/pedi just cuz she is loosing time when olga is doing my work. Whatever I just wanna let u know guys if u go to that place ask for OLGA she is the best . She is delicated, professional and excellent manicurist and try to avoid any contact with the owner she is a completely asshole! I believed that place would be nothing with out Olga y Mariela . I will start out by saying that Joy Nails has been my salon for well over 12 years. I hadn't any issues until recently; they both involved the business aspect, not the manicures. I don't go that often, because I usually get gel manicures, so it lasts longer, however, the last two times I went, I had a poor experience. During my July visit, Lisa mentioned that she'd forgotten to charge me for something the time before. I didn't remember that happening, but I paid the 5 dollars and went along. This past Saturday, I went in for a regular mani/pedi/eyebrow wax. I ended up going Saturday, because I stopped in Friday afternoon to try to get a walk-in, but it was only Lisa and one other manicurist, so she told me Saturday was better. In any case, when I did go, I had my nails done and went to pay. Again, Lisa stated that she'd forgotten to charge me for something the last time. I started to say that could not be possible, but she said I'm the one who is forgetting. Again, I paid the 5 dollars and started to dry my nails, only to be yanked away from the dryer by Lisa, who said she had to do my brows right then. Okay, whatever, but was worried about my nails smudging, since it was so sudden. I have to say, I'm reluctant to go back, because in addition to this new "practice" of Lisa forgetting to charge for things on the day they are happening is annoying, to say the least, but the salon itself is in terrible disrepair. The paint on the walls is chipping and they have stuffed paper towels around the air conditioner instead of using insulation, which would be to code and not so low rent looking. I've been noticing it for a while, but since I've had such great manis/pedis, I kept going. I really think I either need to take a break or just find a new salon altogether. read more
