Spent Mother's Day at La Vasca Deli in Miami with the family, and honestly, it felt like being…read moretransported straight to Spain. First things first: if you want their Spanish tortilla with chorizo, you have to order it ahead of time. Same-day they usually only have the regular tortilla available, so plan ahead -- and trust me, it's worth it. Thick, soft, perfectly layered potatoes and egg with that extra smoky chorizo flavor that takes it to another level. A true comfort dish done right. Their tortilla is one of their staples for a reason. We also ordered a variety of croquetas: jamón serrano, queso manchego, camarones, and bacalao. Honestly, all of them were good (and I mean all), but the bacalao croquetas? Wow. Next level. Super creamy inside, crispy outside, packed with flavor -- easily my favorite of the table. And because it was Mother's Day, dessert was mandatory. Everyone ordered something different: flan with almond ice cream, crema catalana, Basque-style cheesecake, and I went for the Tarta San Marcos. I'm not Spanish, so it was my first time trying it, and I was pleasantly surprised. It's made with layers of sponge cake, cream, chocolate truffle -- but somehow it doesn't feel too heavy. It paired perfectly with a cafecito and was the ideal ending to the meal. The place is small, cozy, and very authentic. I hadn't been in a while, and you can tell they've organized the space better -- the wine boxes and market area feel cleaner and more intentional, and there's a little more room to breathe. Service was super nice and welcoming. Overall, La Vasca is one of those hidden gems where the food feels as authentic as it gets. If you're craving real Spanish food in Miami, this place absolutely delivers.

I was looking for a good Italian spot in the Gables and came across Salumeria 104. Everyone from the bartenders to the server, to the hostesses were all extremely lovely and accommodating. They were very hospitable and made sure that any request that we had would be attempted. We ordered the Swordfish special and Cacio E Pepe pasta. The pasta was good but the swordfish was really what was cooked to perfection! It was not too soft but not rubbery at all. I liked the lemon caper butter sauce as well. We also grabbed a burrata because...why not? It was also decadent and scrumptious despite it being a slightly small portion size but still adequate for two to share. We were also asked if we wanted any extra cheese on top of the pasta which we definitely obliged! The lighting was gorgeous on the patio and very romantic. It was a nice spot right in the heart of Coral Gables and the nice experience has me wanting to return so soon.

We sat at the bar, very European style service not the efficient checking in with you kind of service but we weren't in a rush. We only tried the beef carpaccio which was ok, the meat was a little tough and not overly flavorful. The bread it was served with was delicious. Definitely want to come back and try more of their dishes.

I was excited to shop at Publix while visiting Florida, but unfortunately my experience was pretty…read moredisappointing. One of the first things I noticed was that the prices were noticeably higher than what I'm used to paying in Texas, which was a bit expected. We asked a couple of employees where to find certain items, and they came across as rude and unwelcoming. After those interactions, I honestly didn't feel comfortable asking anyone else for help. The one bright spot was the deli. The gentleman helping me was incredibly friendly and patient. I was undecided about what sandwich to order, and he recommended the breaded chicken sandwich, helped me choose the cheese, toppings, and bread, and his recommendation was excellent. It ended up being one of the best grocery store sandwiches I've had, and I really appreciated his outstanding customer service. Unfortunately, the positive deli experience was overshadowed at checkout. The cashier and the employee bagging our groceries were rude, and they began speaking negatively about us in Spanish, apparently assuming we wouldn't understand. We do speak Spanish, so we understood the conversation, which made the experience even more uncomfortable and disrespectful. While I truly appreciated the excellent service from the deli employee, the overall customer service throughout the store left a lot to be desired. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this location.

This store feels smaller than some other Publix but it has everything I need. Lots of gluten-free items and as with other Publix stores, they often do BOGO deals. Nice, helpful employees.
