Taco de Pollo (Chicken) ($2.50)
Jason P.

Sabor Mexicano, just outside the Roosevelt Ave. E, F, R, M subway stop , is always full of people lined up to get their Meixcan cravings. This food cart serves up a few items, Tacos ($2.50), Quesadillas ($4.00), Tortas ($5.00), and Cemitas ($6.00). Taco prices did recently go up to $2.50, but even at the price, it is a steal, with the exception of Mi Mexico Lindo Tacos, who are still serving $2.00 tacos. I've tried 3 tacos at this cart so far, the pollo (chicken), carnitas (pork) and chorizo (sausage). In addition to the staple ingredient, each taco is also topped off with onions and cilantro on a double flour tortilla, the truly authentic way to 'em. The pollo is probably my least favorite. Although the chicken is tender and moist, it didn't seem to hold a lot of flavor. It was good, but with the likes of the pork and sausage tacos, I would definitely recommend the latter two. The pork has some superb marinaded flavors making for an outstanding taco. The pork is grilled so it's a little crisp on the edges, yet still moist on the inside. My favorite of the three. If you want something a little more interesting, the sausage, packs some very good flavor as well as a hint of heat. The chorizo is a bit fatty, but let's not forget sausage is supposed to be a fatty meat. Served on the side is a lime wedge for each taco, and several pieces of raw radish to give some crunchy texture. Portions are decent, with two tacos to appease the hunger of a moderate appetite, and three tacos with someone that has a decent appetite. The pollo quesadillas ($4.00) are also great here. Don't expect your typical flat American version (i.e. TGIF's, Applebee's) of two thin tortillas with meat and cheese and melted on the inside. Sabor Mexicano serves a mean quesadilla. The tortilla shell was crispy and not too greasy, and inside was a mix of chicken, lettuce, and cheese. We first thought of the cheese as ricotta cheese but in a feta cheese texture, but another Yelper had claimed it as Oaxaca cheese, so I'll go with that. It was tasty and filling. It was shockingly good, and I'd pair a quesadilla with a taco or two to make a $9.00 lunch/dinner. There are also two hot sauces available. The green hot sauce, which I believe is a mixture of chili, cilantro and lime and the red hot sauce which seemed to be chili and some other ingredients. The red hot sauce was good, but the green hot sauce seemed to amp up the heat a bit and added an extra layer of complexity from the cilantro and lime. Sabor Mexicano makes some awesome tacos and quesadillas. I will definitely have to stop by here again to fulfill some of my Mexican cravings. If you find this food cart a little too busy, there is another Sabor Mexicano, which is a food truck rather than a cart. It is located one or two blocks east on the North side of Roosevelt Ave. I'm not sure if they are affiliated at all, but they have similar items at the same prices.

One of the best tacos I ever had. The avocado sauce is amazing! The salted beef tacos are so good. I had one taco and it filled me up!

All their locations have pretty good ratings so I can't really go wrong. Came around 11am on a weekend and it was busy but there were tables available. The tables are arranged pretty strategically to fit as many as possible, which isn't the best for comfort. The service is nice here. The menu is in Spanish but they do have an English menu if you scan a QR code. I ordered the craken taco, costra taco, verde aguachile mixtos, a half dozen grilled shrimps, a la exotica, and guac with fried octopus. Everything was delicious! This place did not disappoint. Although, next time I'd probably skip the Craken taco and verde aguachile even though these two are a top recommendation. My favorite dish was probably the grilled shrimp. The way they grill it really brings out the sweetness and flavor of the shrimp. I personally enjoyed the la exotica more than the aguachile. The guac was also really good and the fried octopus was a good addition. I will definitely go to their other locations. This is a must try for seafood lovers.

Position are a bit small for a whole in the wall like this and prices are high especially on the tacos but that's because the quality seems really good and fresh and effort put into it. I will definitely try to come back And come early no reservations have to wait in lines cold or warm you will have to. Maybe they should open another spot or expand but that's their business .

They offer a different special for any day of the week, first time around on a Thursday Margaritas special , Tamarind & Mango nice big glass great margaritas, good tasty & nice & strong They start u off with some cake pieces, has a banana bread taste very good. Apps , we tried the Tostones con Birria very good great tasting meat & Chorizo Mac & cheese , also very good. Main dishes , Al pastor tacos & Chicken Burrito were both very good. Next time we stopped by for brunch, we got the bottomless option tried the Sangrita white, good sangrita price wise makes sense assuming u drinking more than 3-4 glasses a person. On the food Carnitas Benedict & short rib hash were both very tasty. For dessert gave the Tres Leches a try not bad, just the right amount of sweet. Another brunch visit & we tried Paloma spritz, good & Mexican coffee, pretty strong in taste. Chicken & waffles topped with bacon, very good chicken good combo dish. & the Lady's enchiladas great taste the enchiladas w the green sauce & cheese on top. Good size restaurant, small bar area towards the back, simple but colorful decor. Service overall has been good, they are attentive. Reasonable prices & u get a decent amount of food. This place has so many unique smoothies as well as a pretty big menu for their food items…read more I wasn't too hungry and since they didn't have elote, I got the esquite since it is very similar. My only complaint for the esquite was that it had a little too much water and mayo but other than that, the corn was sweet and all the seasoning was perfect and hit the spot! The main reason why this is one of my go to places now though is because of the smoothies. I haven't been too often just yet but the smoothies that I have tried from then so far have been absolutely perfect. I am just glad that I found this spot as the weather is getting warmer because I know I will be craving smoothies more often. The place is quite small and it was quite dim when I went in. They do have a couple of tables and seats as well. The service was also great. They were very sweet and our items came out in a timely manner.

2nd order from Tacos y jugos via Uber Eats…read more We ordered flautas, burritos and tostones. Each suffered from condensation between packing time and delivery time. We also ordered elote which is rolled up in tin foil. It was spicy for my palate and the crumbly cheese was okay. Just wasn't for my taste at all. But corn cleared my palate for the next bite. The rice in the burrito was undercooked. Some part of the grain was crunchy, but my boyfriend didn't notice it. I think I'll give this place another try.

Ironically, earlier while trying to decide where to go for dinner, I had sent this restaurant to my friend but we ended up going somewhere else and came here for drinks afterward. The drinks were really good! We tried the "Sexy Oaxaca," which consists of 7 Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal, Cointreau, grilled pineapple, mint agave, fresh lemon, and warm salt. This drink takes your taste buds on a ride. It starts off light and refreshing with the mezcal throughout, then finishes with a smoky effect from the pineapple since it's lit. It was really good!! I also tried the "VIP Old Fashion," made with Patrón Extra Añejo, Nixta corn liqueur, Angostura, and orange bitters. This was also good and was smoked prior to being served, giving it a smoky aftertaste. It's definitely a drink you sip slowly. Although we arrived about an hour and a half before closing, the waiter was very polite and professional. They also didn't rush us out once it was closing time, which I appreciated. There were other customers still there enjoying themselves as well. I will definitely be back for dinner. I'm very curious to see what the food is like. I really enjoyed the drinks.

Nothing bad, but I felt like it could've been a bit better overall. The food was good though, I ordered the mixtos tacos, which let's you pick three different tacos from the menu. It was around $23, which is a little pricey. But the tacos were a decent size and definitely filling. My favorite thing I tried was the chori queso. I never had it before and it was honestly the standout dish for me. I would order that again. I also tried the enquites which is street corn. It had a bit of a burnt taste. I know some people enjoy that smokey flavor, but it really wasn't for me. Overall, it was a nice time and for some of the dishes too.
