1st time customer I had to order the chorizo taco and mole tamale. I ate the chorizo taco while hot. Then, I nibbled on the tamale which got cold and dry and left it uneaten. Great place, service and prices. The inside is colorful, spacious and very decorated to the occasion. Friends ordered a few different dishes they enjoyed, flautas, chilaquiles, menudo de pancita, café de olla and conchas. I ordered the carne asada plate with nopales (cactus). It was a very hearty dish, a big piece of flavorful steak, the only downside? The meat was over cooked and the cactus were not cut up. Still everything had great flavor. Came again a few weeks ago, so need to give them the props they deserve. No doubt I come here for their tacos more than anything else. My favorites include the Lengua (beef tongue), Oreja (pig ear), and Camaron (shrimp). The Al Pastor and Carnitas are great too. All their tacos are always filled to the brim, which is appreciated. I do like their freshly made Guacamole and the Seafood Soup too. However, not a big fan of their cemitas or fluetas. Regardless, most of the food is quite excellent. Open early and close late, this has been a staple in my Mexican diet over the years in the Jackson Heights area. The decor is festive and the service is always friendly. Kinda shocked I haven't written a review earlier but this place is pretty awesome. I really enjoyed the food here, I have had some really good dishes here but the drinks can be hit or miss. The food: Tacos de Lengua- These are so damn good, the tongue is insanely tender and these tacos are fat! Tacos de Cameron- I know these aren't the typical ingredients I would expect from a taco joint since it is a cheese and shrimp but I thought these were excellent. If this is intended to be part of waitress tips it is not right to charge your card and then bring the receipt to the customer with a copy and put tip again. This is how you're gonna lose customers, I don't recommend this place to go and eat, the bigger the party is the bigger the charge is. And besides that you have to tip again to the waitress? I got their birria taco, lengua taco, and Carne asada taco for about $18 with tax, and I was completely stuffed by the end. The portion sizes are huge and they put a huge dollop of guacamole on top. The Carne asada was a bit chewier, so I recommend their beef tounge taco instead. The birria taco was also very good, but can get a bit messy because of all the sauce. I made the mistake of waiting 15 minutes to eat it because I was just so full, and by the time I got to it, the tortillas were starting to rip. The minute you sit down, they offer you chips and salsa, be warned, their salsa has a kick!! But it was so good, I kept eating. This was one of the stops in my mini food crawl of Jackson Heights and I absolutely loved it. I got the lengua taco and an al pastor. The portions were quite large and the meats were so tender. I could have sworn I wrote a review for Taqueria Coatzingo before but apparently not! I've been coming here for yearssss! I've celebrated so many friends' birthdays here, and have come here just for great authentic Mexican food! They never disappoint. Tacos: Their tacos are fantastic and HUGE; totally stuffed and delicious! They have a nice variety of tacos on their menu. The hard part, as usual, is picking which ones to order. I mean, how many of these huge tacos can you eat?! lol They're usually served with a side of chopped onions, cilantro and lime wedges; if you don't get this, definitely ask them for it. And there are several kinds of hot sauce on the table; pick which one suits you, or have your tacos without hot sauce. Either way, these tacos are delicious and so satisfying! Soups (all served with a side of warm Tortillas): There are soooo many delicious soups on their menu! My fave is always the Mole Verde Res Soup. It's a slightly spicy beef rib soup; with root vegetables and corn. Another great soup is their Birria Soup. It comes with soooo much meat! (But only meat; no veg). A friend ordered their Chicken Soup but was disappointed; describing it as bland and boring. Obviously, not recommended! lol I've also tried some of their entrees, and they were all very good. They have a huge menu, and everything sounds delicious. So the hard part is picking what to order. The restaurant has expanded over the years; taking over the space of the establishment next door. It looks small when you first walk in, but know that there is a doorway towards the back that connects both dining rooms. So this place is huge; great for big groups. Service & hospitality is great but be warned, not everyone speaks English. So have patience! If one server doesn't understand you, there is always someone else there to help. I've been trying to find good tacos in NYC, and my search led me to Taqueria Coatzingo. Came on a Tuesday at 11am. There were a few tables seated inside, but otherwise a little empty. Upon seating, I was served chips and salsa. Had to be the best part of the meal. The salsa is so fresh and flavorful, and the chips are thin and perfectly crunchy. I could get full off that alone. Ordered two tacos. The lengua was super tender, but it could have been seasoned a little better. The al pastor seasoning was so well, but it was just the tiniest bit dry. I wanted some pineapple pieces to accompany it, but there were none offered. Limes and radishes were given on the side. Flour tortillas held up the tacos nicely, and there were made pretty thin, so I appreciated that the tacos were served with two tortillas. The tacos are huge. Two was more than enough for me including the chips and salsa. One of the better tacos I've had in NYC but still has a little to be desired. read more

Decent mexican food but below average for Jackson Heights. You'd think you would be wow'd by every mexican restaurant in this neighborhood but this place was definitely a bit disappointing... even though it was all filled with locals. The skirt steak plate was very meh. The guacamole was watery, there was a large splatter of beans that had no taste, and the skirt steak had a dull taste. The shrimp nacho platter was also below average. Despite all the toppings, everything was just very bland and tasteless. The only good thing is the crispy bread they provide alongside the platter. I've never had anything like it in mexican cuisine before so it was a pleasant surprise. The ambiance of the restaurant is old and run down but also very homely and gives off an authentic feel. I ordered the Al Pastor Tacos for takeout and was satisfied at the end of the meal. I enjoyed the flavor and consistency of the meat inside the taco, but honestly, if you're in the area anyways then I personally like the birria tacos from Birrialandia a little more. Should that truck be closed, however, and you need Mexican food in a pinch then this should satisfy that craving. I don't think I fully understood how amazing Mexican food can be until I went to Jackson Heights. I had the Lengua (tongue), Carne (beef), and Al Pastor tacos, all of which were insanely fresh and flavorful. I would legitimately consider commuting to Queens after work just to eat any food from here. Wow, the tacos are out of this world! Super delicious. I bring my friends and fam here all the time! I even attached some photos of my meals so you can get an idea of portion size. There's no way you would leave hungry. The service is pretty good. See the size of the mole enchiladas, my maragarita, and my burrito in the photos below. The servers speak Spanish and English, and they are friendly. There are sport games on the televisions and also an open bar on the far left. There are so many options of food to get here. I like their carnitas (fried pork), carne asada (grilled beef), and the al pastor tacos (marinated grilled pork) and the camaron (shrimp with cheese) tacos. Each taco arrives with fresh cilantro, raw onion, radish slice, and lime wedges. The tacos are big, so my suggestion is to start with one or two...or bring a huge group of people to split. I want to start by saying that the food Taqueria Cuatzingo was absolutely amazing. Everything I ordered was fresh, flavorful, and authentic, -you can tell the kitchen takes the great pride in the quality of the dishes. I would return for the food alone! However, I was disappointed with the service during my visit. Unfortunately, the waitress who served me, had a very unpleasant attitude-she spoke in a condescending, almost confrontational tone, which made the experience uncomfortable. I don't know her name, but she was working around 1:00PM on July 11. Service is an esencial part of the dining experience , and hospitality makes a big difference, especially when it comes to Tips and customer loyalty. I respectfully suggest that management address this issue. A great meal should be paired with a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. At $3.5-5 a taco, it seems like a steep price, but the size and amount of fillings inside more than justify it.
