This is my second time visiting the Sacramento Scottish Rite Center - today was for the Sinister Creature Con! It is located in East Sacramento, near Sacramento State College. It's a decent sized building - you can tell it's historic, but is still well taken care of. We spent most of our time in the vendor hall which was jammed packed with booths, tables and people. I honestly think the Sinister Creature Con is outgrowing Scottish Rite because it was way too crowded for my liking, but we still had a great time! They have a decent size parking lot, but I think they also offer an oversize lot as well. Plus the street parking from the nearby neighborhood. I'm sure I'll be back again for another convention or festival! read more

Very large venue with LOTS of parking. I got there a lil bit after the event had started and was worried there would be no parking but there was plenty of spots. The space inside was very large and warm. Great to come into on a cold winter day. It was very clean as well. Good amount of bathrooms and clear signage telling you where things are. I would like to go to another event with seating or less busy to see the layout a bit more/see how the room can be transformed. Overall a great spot for events/indoor markets and the Makers Mart was super cool! read more

This is a small venue but there are perks. They offer free parking in their spacious lot. They are located across the street from Sac State University. I've gone her a few times for conventions (Sinister Creature Con). They had some vendors outside along with room for a few food trucks. I was able to shop around before entering the convention hall. Given the smaller venue, there aren't as many vendors at these conventions. It's much smaller than sac anime but worth a visit. read more

What I love about Scottish Rites is that it has stayed the same after all these years. They consistently offer a venue for small Sacramento events to be held, has served the community with a clean, safe space with parking and a great location. The building itself feels comfortable, it has multiple rooms, a stage, a small kitchen, 1 set of bathrooms, and a small outside space. This review is a little overdue, but we hosted our engagement party here for over 250 guests and had such a great experience! We reserved the Bruno Room and the Harrison Shepherds Hall, and the staff were wonderful! very accommodating to our request for separate men's and women's areas, which meant a lot to us. The venue was beautiful, and although I didn't get a photo of the full setup once everything was finished, it turned out absolutely gorgeous. The Scottish Rite Center hosts a speech and language therapy clinic in their building. The clinic is FREE, FREE, FREE! The therapists that provide services there treat your children like high paying customers! They really really care and do everything they can to help the kids out. If you are looking to donate office supplies or money, PLEASE choose them. They deserve it and out ti to good use. My son was a very quiet baby and they helped him find his voice. It's been a long time since I have been to the Scottish Rite Center, in fact I forgot that it was still around! Then I realized that this location has been the main venue for so many events that interested me in the past, but never had time to go or find someone to go with me. Recently, I attended a Healing Arts Festival and had a very nice time. But after reading other reviews of this place, I have been missing out on a lot of fun! Comic Cons, Sci/Fi and fantasy conventions, and other stuff that I have probably overlooked. The Masonic Center turned out to be very accommodating for large events. Plenty of space for crowds, separate conference/meeting rooms, receptions and even performances. The parking lot also seemed large enough for the masses of people to comfortably attend events with a convenient entrance and exit. The venue is nice and it can hold up to 200-300 people. You can do your own decorations and no catering required. However, the inside of the building is a little outdated but if you are searching for venue on the budget, this is the perfect location. Lighting inside is a little dark and they have a big stage for performance or special event. And the parking is free. It's located close to the Sac State. read more

The Masonic Center oozes class and cleanliness. This isn't your run of the mill multipurpose space with decaying facilities. This is as good as it gets when you're looking for some place to hold a memorable event or fundraiser. I was honored to be here as a a "distinguished" guest judge for the 4th Clubhouse Sandwich Contest, in which various area restaurants competed for prizes with all ticket proceeds going to charity. These charity events are a common occurrence at the center. It seems those who run it from behind the scenes know exactly what is important for the community. I chatted up one of the event organizers and they were proud to have the fundraiser at such a beautiful, clean place. Was here for the Krewe du Krab (or however it's spelled) Crab Feed! All these years, I have seen this place and never been inside. This is a great facility, my only complaint is, the bathrooms are so dated. It was a clean bathroom, but it reminded me of that old bathroom that was at the church when I was growing up, if that makes any sense. you know, that old church bathroom, with that outdated tile flooring and such. Everything else was cool. It's like the perfect place to have an event. They have an area for outdoor seating and such. The outside is pretty and clean. I am reviewing this venue from the point of view as a visitor to an event I've been here twice for the Capitol Post Card Show Nice building and clean bathrooms with ample stalls. A large parking lot A nice patio area in the center of the building The kitchen appears to work well The light in the main room seems a bit dim. What happened to the heat? I have attended a variety of events at this venue for over 20 years. At the recent Sac State job fair, the facility was totally unheated on a cold day. The PA system was not functioning either. This past November at the River City Quilt Show, parts of the facility, such as the stage, were ice cold as well. On site maintenance staff were nowhere to be seen. In addition to heating, this facility needs better lighting. On the plus side, it was clean and the bathrooms were well supplied. Modernizing the HVAC, stage lighting and PA system should be the minimum upgrades to make Scottish Rite worth the high rental fees. Good bones, but it's time to move out of the 1940's! read more

Over the years, I've attended events which have taken place at Scottish Rite such as comic cons, book fairs, Francis House's Feast for the Streets, and job fairs. Scottish Rite also has youth sports programs and childhood language centers for kids. The Center's ambiance has a rustic quality to it; plaques of its members adorn its walls and a display case of sports trophies won by its youth league over the years. The Center has ample parking space. It's conveniently located across the street from Sacramento State and is the number one venue for all of Sacramento's gala events. read more

The place is always done to the best of their abilities. Staffs usually wondering around.. getting a free pass to look at the cool stuff... but when approached will make what u need to happen..... happen. And yes that's me talking about the crew that works with me.. our boss keeps me more than busy but always makes time to listen to and make me be nice to everybody.. I went here to check out the Sinister Comic Con this Saturday. The center had its own large parking plus which was a plus. Upon entering, my friend and I were given a bad of goo dings as we got the VIP package. The center it self was larger than expected; the event occurred into two rooms and in the hallway that connects both rooms. Before looking at any of the booths, we headed to the restroom. I will warn you know that the bathrooms has a strong bad odor..yuck! Though it was fun to walk around see all the creations and talk to a few of the artists. My favorite part was meeting Tate from Face off. He was a very friendly and down to earth artist. I say the location for the event was good and I found it to be pretty organized. Definitely work on those bathrooms though! read more

I am giving the Scottish rite 2 stars. It is really nice and large but the customer service is horrible!. I was looking for a venue for my wedding 200-300 people so this place had the space. It was nice, large and you can take your own alcohol and food. No cater required. Sounded great. However I called and emailed numerous times and got no calls or emails back. Finally I just stopped by and by luck i was actually able to see the place. After words I told the man helping me I would have to come back with my fiancé and parents. He said no problem to email him with whatever time on the weekend works. I did so and he responded that Saturday at 1:30 worked. My parents, in laws and fiancé showed up and he wasn't there. I tried calling him and nothing. He never showed never emailed back to apologize. My fiancé were really annoyed, since our parents made a special trip to see the place. We got lucky that there people getting the place ready for a crab feed, we were able to get into the building. I would not recommend this place, horrible Customer service, they really need a better coordinator. When talking to the people for the crab feed they said you basically have to show up with money and a signed contract to rent the place. That's pretty bad. Needless to say I ended up going somewhere else with excellent customer service. read more

This semi-dated venue us a GREAT hall for events with large groups! My work often has events here and it can accommodate 400+ people. The staff is short on pleasantries, but big on attention to detail, hardwork & pleasing their customers. The hall is old but clean and well kept. It's a very central location too, which makes it nice for countywide events. All-in-all, SRM is legit! read more
