    Garden scramble

Delicious garden scramble. Served directly by the sweet lady who cooked it. The atmosphere is very homey.

They are now serving matcha!! Very high quality, ceremonial grade matcha powder, and you can definitely taste the difference

Ambiance is perfect as soon as you walk in the door

How is it that I have never been to the spot before! It's not only quaint and spacious but also very inviting. The owner and his daughter are super sweet and take the time to talk to their customers. Ordered a grilled egg sandwich with hash browns and it was delicious. Ate every last bite and my latte was the perfect drink, not too sweet and It has a homemade vanilla syrup. Plenty of seating and a couple of different rooms set up with different lighting and some natural lighting coming in. There is parking available along the street. There are a few outlets available for those that want to come and do some work away from home. I didn't see an accessible ramp to get in, so there are stairs for the entrance. If you're around the area, definitely recommend that you stop by and check it out. You will not be disappointed.

    Lots of seating!

This cafe is bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. Sometimes bands come and play on the stage and are hosted by church groups. It feels little hipster and a little grunge, a cafe where you go to hangout and chat with people. Or if you're able to get seating further in where the lighting is better you can even study here. Not many outlets but you could plop down anywhere to read. Coffee is good and staff are all very friendly.

Such a cute place! And even with all the social distancing measures taken there is still TONS of seating! I ordered an iced honeysuckle latte and my husband got their sacred hippie. Both were soooo delicious! The honeysuckle latte had the perfect amount of sweetness with a light honey taste and lovely hone ysuckle aftertaste. The sacred hippie is the sweet version of a dirty chai. It had whipped cream with a caramel drizzle and toffee sprinkled on top. The barista described it as "dessert in a cup" and boy was she spot on. If you like a little coffee with your cream and sugar then this is the drink for you, but if you take your coffee black/unsweetened then maybe order something else. Overall, we loved the coffee and atmosphere and are looking forward to visiting again.

We are from Florida. Last week we visited family in West Lafayette and they recommended this for our final morning with them. They said it was the best coffee in town. Absolutely loved it. The quality is premium artisan, the vibe is authentic and original. The barista was amazing, friendly and skilled. You will not... will not be disappointed! Amazing experience!!

Although I only stopped in for a plain cup of coffee, I really enjoyed my visit with the manager (owner?) of the place. Located in an old church, the husband and wife team that run the place had things running smoothly. I ordered a black drip coffee and had a choice of types, going for the Ethiopian coffee. I love when a coffee is hot, but drinkable right away. I refuse to give 5 stars to a place that intentionally tries to scald my palate or make me wait 20 minutes to make it drinkable. This place was perfect like I make at home. And with the cold temperatures outside, I appreciated that I could get the warmth inside me as soon as possible! There is a Christian theme to the setting, but other than overhearing some discussions about theology at some of the tables, nobody tried to force their opinions on me. I was in town hunting down some public art and on the side of Sacred Grounds was a large mural and on the front, a 3D mural as well. The murals were added in Sept 2018 as part of the Wabash Walls program and the manager was really helpful in directing me towards the locations and "extras" to look for beyond the large pieces. It really made my hunt for the murals successful and I appreciated his taking the time to help me. Five stars for customer service and for a great tasting coffee. Review #1532

My favorite beverage depot in the area besides the awkward location not on the way to anywhere. Sacred Grounds is my spot in the city, free WIFI making it easy to stretch out in this eclectic reborn urban atmosphere. There's a great menu with original drinks, tasty real foods cooked up not heated up in a box, and really cool staff eager to please and drip an off menu drink as you like. All making good not just trading cash for caffeine but a wonderful reflection on the origins of this place also depicted in the graffiti. The only things missing are a strong selection of deserts like cheesecake nibbles, chocolates, and indulgent blended magic like Grayhouse does with their frozen hot cocoa liquid bliss. I've sampled many things here. The breakfasts are fantastic, wow proper biscuits and gravy! Makes The TripleXXX Diner look like bad Cracker Barrel. The wraps are amazing too. My usual was a Dirty Chai which sent taste buds a tingle and heart to palpitations. Last fall the pumpkin latte was legit pure riches. Lately I've realized Trent is a master: the Atomic Pony, lavender and white cocoa I think it is, when Trent makes it I cannot think of a better brew in the county. As my check-ins shows I might have a problem! It's a bummer we haven't had live shows this year. Shawn McDonald made for the best concert I've been to a few whiles ago because I was 15 feet from the stage and didn't have bleeding ears after. I would really like a Sacred Grounds 2 on campus: Hebrews? Espressoul? Brew Unto Others? Latte Say Grace?

Found another favorite! My brother brought us for coffee and grilled cheese, and the employees hospitality completely won us over. They answered all of our question, made recommendations and were so friendly!! I had the Milky Way with their grilled cheese, while my husband had the dirty hippie with the grilled cheese as well... All of it was amazing. I cannot wait to come back and I definitely encourage anyone to come and try it.

Three egg veggie scramble and an americano. Yum!!

This controversial mural is the work of The Droops, an Indianapolis-based artist collective who…read morewere commissioned by The Spot to do the piece in 2015. It located on the side of the Spot and overlooks their parking lot. It takes up 2 sections of the bar's side wall. The mural is in great shape but as you can see in the photos, its lower park is obstructed by parked vehicles. It is a collogue of random images that include a guillotine, a beer on a folding chair, a tombstone, a skull, a in a bikini with four eyes holding a beer up, a knife, a clown, a bomb, a trumpet, a cigarette butt, a foot, a face being punched by a fist, a hand holding a knife, and an odd character holding a beer while playing a piano. The mural also depicts a naked woman tied to a tree and male genitalia in between a hotdog bun, which caused quite a site as you can imagine. There were calls by the community to have the offensive piece removed, covered up or fenced off. The change.org petition ended with 20 supporters. At one point the Lafayette police issued a warning that artwork was violation of the city's graffiti ordinance. There was a point during all of this that they used a Mike Pence head (who was governor at the time) to cover the male genitalia. Ultimately, the Spot won and the city decided that the mural was not graffiti and did not meet the criteria for a citation. The mural is standing today. Even though there are a lot of images to digest. The artwork is very nice. This is a provocative piece that definitely generates conversation. You can deiced for yourself what your thoughts on the piece are. Parking to get a closer look at the mural is easy, even though it overlooks a parking lot, the lot is kind of tight. There is however, some free parking pretty close to the mural too. Anyway, as with most murals that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. There of tons of murals to check out in the immediate area.

It's been five and a half years since my last review, so I thought that an update is in order,…read moreparticularly since a few irritating things on recent visits cause me to lower the rating. The quality of the food remains high. The Americana burger that I spoke of in my previous review seems not to be on the menu any more, but several other burgers are, and they are quite good. My current favorite item, however, is the pork chop, which is huge (I get three meals out of it) and delicious. My wife continues to get her go-to item, the lobster mac and cheese, and speaks highly of it every time. (Not surprisingly, though, it has gone up in price since my previous review; it now costs $24.70 instead of $19. The pork chop is the same price.) The one menu item I tend to avoid is the french fries, which aren't as good as you would think they would be in a place like this. Now, about those irritating things. About a month ago my wife and I stopped by here in the late afternoon, about a quarter to five, and she of course ordered the lobster mac. The price on the lunch menu was the same as on the dinner menu, and so was (I think) the portion size, but at lunch you don't get a complimentary salad with your meal. Since we were about fifteen minutes away from the dinner-menu turnover (or so we were told; there was nothing in writing to alert the customer to this), you would have thought the restaurant would, in the name of good customer relations, have thrown in the stupid salad, but no, rules are rules. Then yesterday my wife and I ordered takeout. I placed the order on Red 7's website at around 2:30 PM. At this time, of course, the only menu showing online was the lunch menu. But when I indicated that I would like a 4:30 PM pickup, a dinner menu appeared. Not unreasonably, I took this as a sign that they were now offering the dinner menu at 4:30. I ordered my pork chop and my wife's lobster mac from the dinner menu, and the restaurant accepted my order and sent me a confirmation email. Then, about 4:15 PM, after my wife and I were already on the road to pick up the food (we live in West Lafayette, the restaurant is in Lafayette, about a 20 minute drive away), I got a phone call from the restaurant saying that the pork chop was only available at dinner and would not be ready until "around 5". So we had to turn around, drive home, and then leave again about 20 minutes later. I have no idea why Red 7 couldn't state explicitly when the dinner menu took effect, why they made the menu available and accepted my order when I placed it if it would not be in effect at the time of pickup, and why the restaurant felt the need to wait until fifteen minutes before I was supposed to pick up the food before telling me it wasn't going to be ready. Forwarned is forearmed, I suppose, and from now on, despite what the computer says, I won't be ordering dinner for any time earlier than 5 PM. But these annoying things are precisely the kind of thing that can detract from an otherwise good meal and leave the customer with a (no pun intended) bad taste in his mouth.

This is still one of my favorite places in Lafayette! I love their patio, portion sizes and food!…read moreRecently I ordered the almond & Parmesan crusted chicken and it was amazing! For $18 I was able to eat 3 meals because the portion was very nice. I would suggest subbing the spinach for the brussel sprouts.
