8Eleven Signature & Spiced Tamarind Mule

8Eleven Modern Bistro delivered an incredible dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect--upscale yet comfortable, with a vibe that made it easy to relax and enjoy the night. We started with drinks, and both were spot on. The 8Eleven Signature Old Fashion was smooth and well-balanced, and the Tamarind Mule had a unique twist that made it really stand out. For the main course, the 28oz Tomahawk Ribeye was the star of the show--perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and definitely something to come back for. The braised beef was just as impressive--tender, rich, and done right. Even the asparagus was cooked to perfection, which really shows the level of care that goes into every plate. Our waitress was delightful--friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Between the amazing food, great drinks, and top-notch service, this place truly stands out. We will definitely be back.

Everything was excellent. It was wine Monday. 50% off bottles of wine up to $100. I selected a $62 Italian pinot grigio. She got a bottle of red. We started with the appetizer carrots. Very unique. Then I got the 8 Eleven salad which is a chopped salad. I asked them to not chop the bacon and drape it across the salad. I then had the ribeye. I asked them to make it Oscar style (that added $22). But they forgot the asparagus so they brought out a side of asparagus. The steak was perfectly med rare. My friend ordered the golden beet and apple salad and the diver scallops. She also ordered the crispy brussel sprouts. The food was fantastic. Everything was delicious. Service was very good and highly professional. Ambiance is excellent. It's easy to have a dinner conversation because it's not loud. Highly recommend reservations since it's a small dining room. Reservations are available on open table. But if you have a reservation for 4 or more you probably need to call the restaurant. I know open table would not let me make a reservation for 5. When I called the restaurant they gave me the reservation. My meal was $147 before I added a 25% tip. Highly recommend.

Conveniently located in the Union, this is a must try if you're staying at the hotel! The restaurant has an upscale vibe with dim lighting--perfect for a date night. Everything is made from scratch and can be altered to fit dietary needs or preferences. Jozlynn, my server, was phenomenal. Very attentive without being overbearing. She gave me few minutes to look over the menu, but was right back when I sat the menu down and was ready to order. I wasn't in the mood for an alcoholic beverage, but wanted something flavorful. I decided on the zero-proof berry cooler. Wow, was it delicious! It consisted of strawberry and melon. The complimentary bread was delicious. Warm with a crisp outside and soft middle, topped with some sort of seeds, yum! I had the braised beef for my entree. It was a large portion. The beef was very tender over a bed of potatoes puree and veggies. There were thick cuts of bacon as well, probably something I'd remove on a future order. Delicious food, excellent service-- five stars all around!

So glad I was lazy and decided not to leave the Union hotel for dinner. Amazing atmosphere, staff superb, and crispy fingerlings are to die for.

What a great restaurant in a beautiful building at The Union Purdue. I had dinner and breakfast here and the waitstaff is all fairly new and either in training or recently out of training. Everyone is so nice and wants to make the experience perfect!

Glad to see a place for fine dining on campus! Really wanted to like this place, but the food left a lot to be desired. The crab croquettes were really good, but sadly this is where the good ends. The braised beef was tender but needed more seasoning/braising, and the accompanying carrots were undercooked. The spicy shrimp pasta was not spicy at all and void of any flavor for that matter. The roasted wild mushrooms were absolutely the worst - oddly and insanely bitter. Had to send this one back. The chocolate bread pudding was way too dry, far from a bread pudding but more like a brownie. Service was alright. Pleasant but not very warm.

Stayed at the Union Hotel for Recruiting event. Was seated quickly in this elevated and modern restaurant with a large party. Food and wine was wonderful, would come back again due to proximity to campus, hotel and ambiance.

Came here the 2nd time for my graduation dinner, and it was amazing like before (I'd say even better than the first time). The appetizers were amazing and so flavorful. I love the plating on the dishes. Entrees and desserts were also amazing. All of this in a college town? The ambiance is nice and I like the more upscale low light feel. The service was great and waiters were attentive and kind.

I got the French onion soup and salmon. The soup was very good (and very hot slightly burned my mouth) with the cheese and onions. It had the perfect amount for savoriness. The salmon was also very good. Very crispy crust and tender. Wasn't a personal fan of the lentils, but still ate it. Service was probably the best thing about the restaurant. They were very nice, friendly, and set up the utensils for the dish that was ordered. The soup was $13 and the salmon was $32. Definitely a steep price, was it worth the cost definitely not. But the food was still very good. I would select the is place if you want to celebrate with a fancy meal. 7.0/10

This was a must on my recent trip to West Lafayette. It was tough to get a reservation during Family weekend but I lucked out after regularly checking Open Table. I originally assumed the name made reference to the address but it actually pays homage to Purdue alum Neil Armstrong and Gemini 8 and Apple 11. The interior is very classy with warm dark tones. Our server was very professional The menu boasts regional and seasonal ingredients. My dining companion, and I both had the Steak Frites cooked medium rare, and it was served as ordered. I started with the wedge salad and I am still thinking about the thick slice of bacon that topped it off. Coming from Miami I was surprised that my dining companion ordered the Keylime pie for dessert. He claimed to be a key lime pie connoisseur, and he said this one did not disappoint with the marshmallow topping. We both had the 8Eleven signature Old Fashion with vanilla syrup and black walnut bitters, it will be the standard by which I rate all future Old Fashions. When in West Lafayette a meal .. or meals.. at 8Eleven is

West Lafayette has this gem located in the Union Club Hotel at Purdue University. Came out here for my graduation, and this was the perfect place to attend, with historical meaning behind it. It's named after NASA's most popular aerospace programs Apollo 11 and Gemini 8. Command Pilot Neil Armstrong apart of this, is a Purdue alumnus which makes this restaurant epic. The food is just so delicious, and absolutely made to perfection. They take a while to prepare food, but it is so worth it the food literally melts in your mouth. I ordered the salmon and spinach, which I substituted for the lentils and onions. They give you very good portions to save room for there amazing dessert. Further, I did enjoy my scrumptious Key Lime Pie. The best I had thus far. You definitely have to try it, no disappointments! The service was good I forgot his name but he was very easy going. He recommended the salmon and I'm happy I decided to go that route. He was very amicable too! The ambiance is just right! They have the boiler bar and a very nice hotel in close proximity. Very nice upscale, with nice decor. They have a table right in front of the kitchen, that is very unique I was intrigued. It is dark in here which gives it a romantic vibe, but still good for many occasions. They have valet right in front of the Union Club Hotel, and it's free for up to two hours. They have good customer service as well and are very friendly! Overall, I would love to come back here when visiting West Lafayette. It's a perfect location with much to do and many eateries. It's downtown with lovely views.

So imagine my (pleasant) surprise that there was but one Triple XXX restaurant that remained open, carrying the torch (as it were) for that great root beer! So on a nice and humid Saturday, me, hubby, and our little Puppy hopped in the car for a 2+ hr drive to West Lafayette IN for lunch! Of course - we got there - an old-style-diner-like building perched on a hill close to Perdue University in West Lafayette! We were seated in the outdoor "full service" tented section of the restaurant (covered) and perused the menu. After ordering the obligatory Triple XXX root beer (but of course - which came with free refills) we turned to the menu! Hubby ordered the Barney Burger - a 1/4 lb chop steak burger with cheese and grilled onions - as fyi, no burger comes with condiments- you get to "dress your own the way you like it" with condi's on the table. I ordered the Bernie Flowers All-Pro - a 1/4 lb chop steak with lettuce, tomato, onion (which I held) and Miracle Whip (yes!) on a toasty sesame bun. We both got curly fries (which were yummy, btw). Ok- first thoughts- the burgers - while fresh- were a bit dry. Hmm. The lettuce on my Bernie was a nice, crisp, and cold leaf. Yes! The tomato was freshly sliced and - honestly- looked like one I'd cut at home. Sweet! So why the 4 stars - I mentioned the meat was dry? Oh my. Yes, that's the sole demerit. But props to the fries and the awesome Root Beer! We enjoyed it - and just in the nick of time. No sooner did we finish up than a severe thunderstorm rolled into town! So we skedaddled to the car, hopped in, and drove thru drenching rain, super strong winds, some light hail - until we got outta Indiana on our way back to Illinois. Would we come again? Of course! Gotta support places like this-they're an important part of Americana! Check it out yourself and enjoy- as we did!

The fries are yummy, and the burger was perfect for what I needed a solid meal since I hadn't eaten in almost 9 hours. Yep sounds like a personal problem. But hey at least the food here has been perfect both times. Maybe next time I will buy a shirt or at least some root beers to go with me. My burger was a true knife and fork meal. At least I am too old to be wearing my chili all over my beard and shirt. Highly recommend if in the area and it is only 5 miles off the interstate. Drive in and enjoy a yummy meal.

Our waiter only came to our table once for a refill on coffee however never asked us how our meal was after it had arrived. He also did not give us the check on his little mobile machine, although we did see him give checks to other tables right next to us on his little mobile machine, if that is what I saw. they made us walk all the way back to the front in order to check out and pay. Our waiter did take the right order, which was my omelette with no cheese however, as you can see from the pictures, there was definitely cheese in this omelette. That was also disappointing. My partner ordered toast which came with his meal, and the bread was not toasted at all in fact, it looked like it was just simply taken out of the bag. The eggs also were not fresh eggs. He definitely came out of a carton. The country fried steak he ordered was definitely not steak as well. The only thing that really went well were my hashbrowns because they were toasted on the top part. The coffee here unfortunately tasted like brown hot water. the place photographs well, with all the hanging florals this unfortunately really missed the ball and missed the point. It was a huge waste of money and they really need to work on service and food here. If you have other choices for breakfast, please go somewhere else because this is very disappointing. Our waiter was not attentive. When we saw someone cleaning a table that it really wasn't being cleaned it was simply being cleared out.
