Chopped steak with eggs and hashbrowns.
Dave L.

Nothing fancy; just your straightforward local dining establishment. Just the kind my group was looking for. We were passing through the area and wanted a good breakfast. Yelp helped point the way. Upon entering the restaurant, a whiteboard showed the daily specials. We knew we were in the right place. I ordered the chopped steak with eggs. It was very tender and was cooked as ordered. The eggs were also perfectly cooked. I enjoyed my meal and got to sample some great bacon off my partner's plate. I also tried a bite of her pancake. It was very good. Everyone in our party was satisfied with their order. Aside from lacking gluten free choices, the menu offered something for everyone at reasonable prices. Our waitress (Melissa) was attentive and took good care of our group. It was clear to see that many locals made the restaurant a regular stop. If I was in the area, I'd stop in for another breakfast.

They are doing it right here for sure! Straight forward breakfast with fair prices and fantastic service. Our coffee cups never were never more than half empty! Served piping hot. It was solid and no frills. I had a feta omelette with wheat toast and extra crispy hash browns It came out perfectly. It was a nice sized portion that filled the plate. Before we left we chatted up one of the servers who gave us her favorite dish and other recommendations. We plan on coming back for sure.

I just love seeing a local business busy. I come here about once a month or every other. The servers are so kind, and they kind of help each other out. They have breakfast and lunch items. I definitely need to go for lunch soon. I have only had their chili which was pretty good. It wasn't super chunky, more like a soup, but tasty all the same. My kids love getting the kid pancake and bacon, while I have discovered their omelette. So good. I get the all in one or everything omelette. Nice and fluffy with 4 different veggies and 3 different meats. Their coffee is absolutely amazing too. It doesn't taste "burnt" like a lot of places. I drink about 5 cups when I go! Highly recommend this local Lafayette business

Exquisitely friendly service and simple delicious breakfast! I tried the Meat Lovers Skillet and the Biscuits and Gravy and they were delicious and exactly as they should be. No fancy additions, no fussing around...just good quality food. I will definitely be coming here multiple times on my visit to Lafayette.

Great morning breakfast place! I had the western skillet and it was delivered hot to the table. My coffee cup never got low and the staff was very attentive. A mix of booths and tables fill this small storefront which provides a variety of seating options. Check it out if you're around!

The good old-fashioned basic breakfast and family diner, a good menu with great prices and large portions of food. I personally enjoy Tick Tock more for their impressively original menu and Town & Gown for superior quality at good prices however these guys do the diner spot on. Us three guys enjoyed breakfast here sampling quite a broad section of steak and eggs, omelets, and pancakes. There wasn't anything impressive about the food in fact the steak didn't really have any flavors at all which was surprising. A bit of my eggs were not done at all but still completely uncooked and clear. We all managed to finish our food which is a good sign but could recommend some culture and chef touch added in the cooking process.

I'm done with Joe's. Loved the old location. New location is way too bright and loud. No cozy diner feel at all. Sat at a table for 20 mins after receiving my drink before I left because no one ever came to take my order. There were only three other tables at the time. There are other better diners in town.

Joe's Pancake House recently opened in the former Great Wall location, next to Hardees. I have noticed the parking lot of this breakfast and lunch place has been crowded. On the weekends, groups of people gather by the front door greeting each other. This morning I had some spare time so I decided to check it out. The interior is clean and bright; it appears they didn't have to do much remodeling after the previous tenant (another Chinese restaurant), even leaving a large Chinese framed print hanging in the wait station. The menu is pretty extensive, with the usual breakfast offerings including pancakes with various toppings, burgers and sandwiches (including a Monte Christo), salads, and desserts. The pricing appears to be comparable to the area, along with a seniors and childrens menu. The dining room was pretty crowded with customers; servers were circulating topping off coffee and drinks. I ordered my usual breakfast, corned beef hash and eggs (this time sunny-side up). The menu states the corned beef hash is made in-house, and had a nice flavor. The hash browns were the way I make them at home, with par-boiled potatoes. Overall, a tasty meal. My only criticism would be the pancake selection. Why call yourself a pancake house without adding some things like a Dutch baby, crepes, aebleskivers, etc?

Gets very crowded. Food is delicious. Service is good. Plenty of parking in the lot. Place could be decorated nicer but life goes on.

Best breakfast in Lafayette!…read more Valerie served us up an amazing first time experience at this classic diner. Sign says they use beef tallow as their cooking oil! Love this spot. I ordered the Drew Brees country fried steak meal with hash browns and biscuits. The root beer jelly was a crazy surprise. Wife had the corn beef hash and eggs breakfast. Everything was 10/10 delicious. Nice cup of joe, the Coffee tasted like a nice breakfast blend, not harsh or bitter.

Triple XXX root beer was king of the hill back when I was growing up in the 60's and 70's. Damn…read morefine root beer, too! So imagine my (pleasant) surprise that there was but one Triple XXX restaurant that remained open, carrying the torch (as it were) for that great root beer! So on a nice and humid Saturday, me, hubby, and our little Puppy hopped in the car for a 2+ hr drive to West Lafayette IN for lunch! Of course - we got there - an old-style-diner-like building perched on a hill close to Perdue University in West Lafayette! We were seated in the outdoor "full service" tented section of the restaurant (covered) and perused the menu. After ordering the obligatory Triple XXX root beer (but of course - which came with free refills) we turned to the menu! Hubby ordered the Barney Burger - a 1/4 lb chop steak burger with cheese and grilled onions - as fyi, no burger comes with condiments- you get to "dress your own the way you like it" with condi's on the table. I ordered the Bernie Flowers All-Pro - a 1/4 lb chop steak with lettuce, tomato, onion (which I held) and Miracle Whip (yes!) on a toasty sesame bun. We both got curly fries (which were yummy, btw). Ok- first thoughts- the burgers - while fresh- were a bit dry. Hmm. The lettuce on my Bernie was a nice, crisp, and cold leaf. Yes! The tomato was freshly sliced and - honestly- looked like one I'd cut at home. Sweet! So why the 4 stars - I mentioned the meat was dry? Oh my. Yes, that's the sole demerit. But props to the fries and the awesome Root Beer! We enjoyed it - and just in the nick of time. No sooner did we finish up than a severe thunderstorm rolled into town! So we skedaddled to the car, hopped in, and drove thru drenching rain, super strong winds, some light hail - until we got outta Indiana on our way back to Illinois. Would we come again? Of course! Gotta support places like this-they're an important part of Americana! Check it out yourself and enjoy- as we did!

I was so excited to go to what a thought would be a solid Irish restaurant. Reviews online were…read moregood and pictures looked good. We live in Indianapolis and were in the area so we were really looking forward to trying this place. However, the food was overpriced and low quality. I ordered the Connemara Chicken. This restaurant uses boxed Idaho flakes for their mashed potatoes. The kind you just add water to... the ones that are kind of like a paste texture. I could tell right away. The chicken tasted reheated/chewy and unflavored. The sauce wasn't bad but it had a unique flavor. I liked the vegetables (I loved that they were cooked well and not al dente) but my partner said they tasted unflavored to her. Honestly, I was most disappointed by the mashed potatoes. I don't know how an Irish restaurant- or any restaurant - doesn't use real potatoes. Especially when the dish costs $19. For that price, dehydrated flakes are absolutely crazy. I know inflation is high but come on. My dollar matters too and when I decide to dine out on a rare occasion I'd like to be getting quality food. I asked the waitress- who was very attentive and sweet- if this is what they always use for potatoes or if it was an off day and she said they always make them with the Idaho box of flakes. Again, she was super sweet and very attentive. We had no issues with service at all. But using fake mashed potatoes at a restaurant is really disappointing. Especially for the price. Also, the water. The first glass of water we were given tasted normal. The refill tasted super weird so my partner mentioned it. The waitress told us she knows it's weird, apologized, and said that the water in one area of the restaurant tastes weird but the other area tastes fine. She offered to get us water from the "good" faucet after that which we appreciated. Odd to me that they are aware the water tastes off/bad (and have an alternative that's better) but still serve the bad stuff to customers. My partner did really like her tenderloin sandwich. It was crispy and had good flavor. The pub chips were okay but they didn't have seasoning and many were dry/airy and as though they may have been sitting a while. Kinda weird. We talked about possibly coming back when they have live bands to give it another shot and maybe just get an appetizer instead of entrees because we really did like the service and the vibe there.
