We were greeted when we entered the door and told to pick our table! It was quite busy due to the Sunday brunch crowd when we chose to go but our service was great! Both women who served our table always had a smile and were very friendly. I ordered the veggie omelette and added a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy. It all came out so fast we were shocked. It's a small neighborhood breakfast place with outstanding service and great pancakes. This is a long story. I ordered a vegetable skillet, but I didn't want tomatoes. The first one they sent out had a lovely crisp potato base, lots of vegetables, and with two perfectly done over-easy eggs on top and, of course, toast. Unfortunately, there were tomatoes in the first one. I didn't even have a chance to say anything, and the waitress spotted the tomatoes and brought it right back. She apologized, even though her service was exemplary. Unfortunately, they tried to rush the second one. The potatoes weren't done. It was just not very good, but the service, my goodness this waitress is on. I don't think I've ever seen a waitress that on the ball. Except for the tomato mishap, everything else we got was good and the pancakes were outstanding, also the original one, if it didn't have the tomatoes making it watery, would've been delicious. I will start by saying that the employees of this establishment are the best, very welcoming and remembered us from our first visit. Trip #1 husband ordered corned beef hash skillet and was very disappointed, consisted of 80% hash browns and 20% corned beef hash, onions and peppers, could not find the cheese. We did not find this discrepancy until we got home as he took most of his meal home to eat. Sunny-side-up eggs on the top werethe best part of the meal. He opted for a biscuit instead of toast, biscuit was cold and dry. For a breakfast place, the coffee was not very good. I had a patty melt which was good, nice amount of fries fries. Trip #2 was better than the first one. I again got a patty melt, which was good and my husband got country fried steak with mashed potatoes, a salad and a veggie. He said all was good there except the corn was not very flavorful...especially after enjoying fresh sweet corn this summer! Plenty of gravy on the steak. Prices are decent and they have a nice selection of daily specials. If someone asked us to meet them there to eat we would go but we were hoping we would find a new go-to place, and I don't think this is it. read more

I just love seeing a local business busy. I come here about once a month or every other. The servers are so kind, and they kind of help each other out. They have breakfast and lunch items. I definitely need to go for lunch soon. I have only had their chili which was pretty good. It wasn't super chunky, more like a soup, but tasty all the same. My kids love getting the kid pancake and bacon, while I have discovered their omelette. So good. I get the all in one or everything omelette. Nice and fluffy with 4 different veggies and 3 different meats. Their coffee is absolutely amazing too. It doesn't taste "burnt" like a lot of places. I drink about 5 cups when I go! I personally enjoy Tick Tock more for their impressively original menu and Town & Gown for superior quality at good prices however these guys do the diner spot on. Us three guys enjoyed breakfast here sampling quite a broad section of steak and eggs, omelets, and pancakes. There wasn't anything impressive about the food in fact the steak didn't really have any flavors at all which was surprising. A bit of my eggs were not done at all but still completely uncooked and clear. Joe's Pancake House recently opened in the former Great Wall location, next to Hardees. I have noticed the parking lot of this breakfast and lunch place has been crowded. On the weekends, groups of people gather by the front door greeting each other. This morning I had some spare time so I decided to check it out. The interior is clean and bright; it appears they didn't have to do much remodeling after the previous tenant (another Chinese restaurant), even leaving a large Chinese framed print hanging in the wait station. The menu is pretty extensive, with the usual breakfast offerings including pancakes with various toppings, burgers and sandwiches (including a Monte Christo), salads, and desserts. The pricing appears to be comparable to the area, along with a seniors and childrens menu. The dining room was pretty crowded with customers; servers were circulating topping off coffee and drinks. I ordered my usual breakfast, corned beef hash and eggs (this time sunny-side up). The menu states the corned beef hash is made in-house, and had a nice flavor. The hash browns were the way I make them at home, with par-boiled potatoes. Overall, a tasty meal. My only criticism would be the pancake selection. Why call yourself a pancake house without adding some things like a Dutch baby, crepes, aebleskivers, etc? read more

Was in town touring Purdue. Got the country fried steak and the gravy was sooo good definitely home made sausage gravy, very flavorful and the steak was soft and cooked perfectly. I upgraded the toast to a pancake for some change, overall was a good experience. The staff very busy but at the same time very friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back when in town. They have daily specials posted in case you're looking for some other comfort food like a burger or a pasta dish. Most of the restaurants near Purdue are either chains or student-oriented, which is fine. Today, however, my son and stumbled upon a genuine diner, owned by and staffed by locals. We had breakfast -- just simple plates of eggs, pancakes and bacon. The food was hot, delicious, and the pancakes so fluffy and light they nearly ascended into space. The service was pretty quick, food was tasty, but the eggs were made very runny (more like over easy). I would order scrambled eggs my next visit. He wanted a single pancake and she suggested the Mickey Mouse one that he loved. They had a senior menu which was perfect for me. My daughter had a western skillet which was very flavorful. Great diner. We've heard so many great things about Joe's but could never make it through the years because of our work schedules (Joe's is exclusively breakfast & lunch). Finally made it last week for a late brunch. Great visit: excellent food, nice portions, reasonable prices, staff was great, everything was clean & the atmosphere was enjoyable. 3 of us went for a late Sunday brunch & were all pleased. Everything was cooked to order & customized to our requests. The wait staff was helpful with our questions, gave suggestions & made sure we were happy with everything once it arrived. The restaurant is neat, clean & the staff was cheerful-even got into a fun extended conversation with a few. The atmosphere was fun between many of the guests as well. We'd noticed one group having such a great conversation we somehow joined in with them for a bit! Really added to the experience and I have a feeling this is normal. Nice vibe there where you feel like striking up a conversation with anyone. I've heard tons of good things about their non-breakfast meals so we'll be back soon to give that a try. I got the half and half to go and was very disappointed, the sausage gravy had very little sausage and the gravy itself was bland and there wasn't near enough gravy for the one biscuit which was packaged separately from the hash browns which was supposed to have sausage gravy and there wasn't enough gravy for the hash browns either i paid over 17 dollars for the half and half and a side of cold bacon. Way over priced and somewhat misleading "sausage" gravy, i would go to Hardees next door before i go to Joe's again. read more
