This team of skilled technicians makes this fabulously cool salon what it is, and not only has my hair always turned out just right, everyone I've brought here (of which there have been many) has been beautified to perfection. -- MY DETAILS -- This salon is truly a local staple: it was founded by the Mom of my go-to colorist Colleen. It's now changed locations, names, and hands over the years, but it is and always will be a family-style run business. In the years I've gotten my hair done by this team, I've NEVER ONCE seen any client leave unhappy, and I've been a client since I moved here in 2007... so long ago that was at their original location: where "FIVE GUYS BURGERS & FRIES" sits in Burlington! Several stars go to my miracle-worker Colleen. She took me from bland mousey brown to my true self: a vibrant ginger! She and Tiffany (Tiff is great at cuts, esp for both sexes) also helped get my style back after surgeons literally shaved half my head straight up the back (no joke... brain surgery does that to you). They got me back looking decent even when I felt nowhere near it. Colleen has been patient and kind with my forgetfulness & headaches & pain that causes me to reschedule far too often. The entire staff is friendly and fun, and many of whom I've since learned are childhood friends, which adds to the calm, friendly atmosphere here. So whether you're a new face or a long-time client, you'll feel welcomed as well as fantastic. Fantastic because I've never seen someone leave unhappy: whether the client describes a style, gives the stylist free-reign, or brings in a photo, etc. You're in good hands. Love you guys!

She made him feel as if she has the appt arranged for either service (since after all it was a superset) Fast fwd to the day of my birthday appt, my boyfriend drops me off. The stylist aka Melissa who happems to also be the shop owner, then proceeds to inform me we only had an hour booked and could only do a haircut. Offers no apology, no care, no concern what so over. Just lazily keeps saying all we can do is a haircut.... When I explained the situation & understanding of how the appt was booked her response was literally "I'm sorry that they told you that but we would never book an appt without knowing" As is this surprise was made up.... Completely unwilling to work this out for a new client. Completely unapologetic to the situation & offers no fix to said issue. No offer of another appointment.. In a time where small businesses are dependent upon their customers, Melissa the shop owner sure did screw her way out of $400 this day. Her customer service was horrible. She offered no real apology, no ounce of empathy & no desire to try and fix what they messed up. Simple lazy response to what was supposed to be a special day. I wouldn't give a dime to a salon that gives no effort in making their clients happy. And this all falls on the shop owner. What an example you are setting for your employees to follow Melissa I can assure you, treat enough people this way and your salon will be non existent. On a brighter note...I only had to take a short walk down the Main Street to find a salon that was more than willing to take Genisis services & you better believe the whole salon heard of the experience you just gave, Melissa. As a neighboring salon, they could not believe you took no effort in making This right. Glad to not have given you a dime.

Over the years, Staff came and went, a few stayed and became friends. Good products, good scissors, and a great selection of special hair products at sometimes fabulous sale prices!! They have a reservation formula on their site I found sometimes confusing or flawed and only used it once in the last eight years, preferring a personal call or just wall-in with a hopeful smile. I didn't notice until I got home and now I'm trying to go over it with my beard trimmer. If you can't handle doing a decent buzzcut, you shouldn't be cutting hair professionally.

My review today is based on my phone experience with Tamera…read more I called her salon today after having dried up my tears after an arms-length interaction with Per Dona Salon where they told my husband who'd inquired for me, that they didn't have anyone who could "cut ethnic hair." I was at a loss, worried that I wouldn't find someone to cut my hair, now that I live here in Mount Vernon as of a month ago (originally from Scottsdale, AZ). I was hurt by the arms-length interaction with Per Dona Salon, so pulled up my bootstraps, and wiped my tears. Then I called Spero. She was courteous, used endearing words with me, was patient although I caught her in the middle of lunch eating before she had a meeting in 10 minutes. She also helped me to pair my stylist preference up (helped me to understand her website) with patience, and also listened to my sob story about how the Per Dona Salon interaction made me feel. Tamera is a genuine person (no fluff) and shared her awesome story about why she chose to open Spero Skin Spa Salon. Her vulnerability and raw nature make me excited to find a stylist right for me at her place. I'll start with Dani and see where it goes.
