My favorite local Solana Beach watering hole. The bartenders are super cool and the atmosphere is great. It has that dive bar feel . The drinks are always cold and if they do not have live music or a DJ their jukebox is playing great tunes. Finally a place that gets it!!! Great staff, great music, great T.V.s, and good prices and specials. The remodel from the surf and saddle days is a huge improvement and the vibe is better than anywhere in North County! They must have fixed the air conditioning because it is now much cooler inside than when they opened. The place was packed at night on the weekend with tons of good looking people. The D.J. had the place cranking Saturday and the bands on other nights have been super fun. Looking forward to spending a lot of time here! read more

Nice place, clean and recently remodeled. They raised the ceiling so it feels pretty opened up inside. Acoustics are good too. In my experience the bartenders are pretty friendly and welcoming. read more

Love this place. Good to get your night started. Went here with a bunch of friends. There's no food here, but you can go anywhere you want and bring the food back to eat. The music gets a litttttttttttttttle too loud sometimes. But totally relaxed environment. Love starting the night here and then bar hopping around after. read more

Nice clean watering hole. Plenty of draft beer to choose from and all the hard stuff you'd ever want. Only complaint was that the AC was not working and it was hot in there, still working out the kinks since the reopening i think. read more

The ambiance of this place is not bad for a dive bar. Would never order an old fashioned but get a cranberry vodka or any basic drink and you won't be disappointed. The people seem friendly, bartenders pretty attentive and overall not a bad place to go. read more

Went here on a first date for drinks. Very casual but had a fun vibe to it. There didn't seem to be a wait staff so I went to the bar to grab a drink. The bartender was very personable. Played good music and it wasn't too loud. Overall this is a great place. read more

This place used to be the awesome "Surf & Saddle" where the entertainment was great and locals were treated with respect. Now you have a bunch of arrogant owners, who know nothing about running a business , customer service and listening to the customer's request or wishes of making it a great place to hang out. It is the worse and I foresee that this establishment will eventually close. The bartenders are horrible as well! read more

We were all excited when the saddle was opening to finally have our local bar back. Unfortunately, I've given it several chances and will not be back. The bartenders are rude and the service sucks. The prices suck. The crowd sucks and the music suuuuuuuuucks! Too many sucks to give them anymore of my money. We went to this bar last night in town for a wedding and had the worst experience if our lives. The bouncer was pushing our wives on the dance floor, and actually pushed and hit my wife. Then they kicked us out of the bar saying it was our fault. I asked to talk to the owner and said are you aware that your bouncer is pushing women. The owner said he didn't care at all and told us to go cry about it somewhere else. So I never do this but if you are in Solana beach, avoid the Saddle bar at all costs. We easily spent a few thousand dollars at the bar and never have I seen an owner ok with an employee who puts there hand on women. He actually laughed in my wife's face and called her a bitch and told her to go get a life. Please avoid! read more

so happy this place is here! solana beach was really missing something without a cool bar that actually stays open in the evenings. i will always miss the old surf and saddle, but this is a much more ideal replacement than the previous one. people are kind and cheerful and i look forward to my next visit! read more

Love...Love...Love this place! They have great live music and DJ's too! The best part is there is never a cover charge nor will there ever be one. Drinks are strong and the only kind of pour spouts they have are non- regulated. Solana Beach has needed a bar that stays open until 2am and now they have a great one. It's great to be back in the Saddle again!! read more

Typical dive bar. Not very busy when we went in, but it was on the earlier side. Good drinks, pretty reasonably priced too. Jen the bartender was really nice and she made great, strong cocktails. Everyone was friendly, not too strong of a "locals only" vibe like some dives can have. Would definitely be a regular if we lived in the area. read more

This place is always packed on a weekend night. We went on a Saturday night. They always play live music which I enjoy. The one thing I don't like about it is that it gets pretty cramped, but I think that it's mainly because it's a smaller space with a lot of people wanting to try it out. Otherwise not a bad place to be if you're in Solana Beach and you want to try out the night life! read more

I used to go to this bar when it was Surf and Saddle. After a recent experience, I will never go back. The bartender was extremely rude and served his friends before serving myself, a sober, respectful, patient customer. The experience was so bad, that I will likely file a formal complaint. read more

Tonight was my first and last visit to the Saddle Bar. When we walked in the place it seemed pretty promising. However, after about an hour of playing some closely matched golden tee I looked up and my buddy noticed someone had just grabbed my half full beer and glass of water. I quickly followed the guy back to the bar to see what was going on. I confronted him and his explanation was "bro the beer was almost gone and I walk around to feel the temperature of beers by hand and then grab them if they are too warm". WTF?? After explaining that I was the designated driver and this was my one beer he condescendingly explained the beer was too warm (by this douches judgement) and that they closed in 10 minutes (this was at 1:15am the do not close until 2am). After some arguing he asked the bartender to give me a small amount of beer (about a 1/4 of a pint when I had at least 1/2 left). After some more arguing he provided me with what was close enough to a 1/2 pint that I gave up and accepted. Be on the look out for a dark haired little punk with a bar towel in his pants who is on a power trip. He definitely has a Napoleon complex and the owner should get rid of this guy before he ruins more customers experiences. read more
