    Gorgeous views from the bar!

Gorgeous place to enjoy being immersed in everything seaside while in the comfort of a shaded oasis. After lunch elsewhere, we walked here for wine at the bar, steps from the sand, ocean, and breeze. Perfection. Cade, recently transplanted from Manchester, England, was the perfect host/bartender. We all agreed we need to come back to try the food since we enjoyed our experience so much! (Paid public parking lot literally across the street.)

Choice bartop dining at the indoor/outdoor seating area during the sunset hour. Friendly professional service from the bar team. The GF had a taste for Clam Chowder while I had a hankerin' for the Alaskan Cod. Maybe not refined seafood options, yet well prepared and tasty. It's always nice to sit semi outdoors sipping wine and cocktails with the view of the beach.

We sat outside, facing the beachfront for a warm, sunny brunch. Nils was our server and he was spectacular. Food was delicious and the place was busy that Saturday.

1st time here. Wow!! The ambience here was just fantastic!!! The ocean view was just breathtaking!! Service here was amazing!! And of course, the food here was great!! I ordered the Seared Rare Yellowtail Tuna, it was delicious...I know this is a seafood restaurant, but can I just say their Flourless Chocolate Cake was made in perfection! My goodness Chefs kiss!! It just melted in my mouth and the portion was perfect. As I'm writing this, I can just see it in my mind. Mmmmmmm (I'm not a Flourless Chocolate Cake expert, my taste buds are just craving for them now).

Went here to celebrate my birthday and it was amazing. First of all the view is 10/10, it is right by the beach and it's the perfect spot to go for a sunset dinner. Absolutely stunning. We came at 7pm and didn't have to wait too long to be seated inside, I imagine outside seating would require a reservation (which we didn't have). The food was great! Cooked perfectly and the chef had a really refined taste. The portion was perfect. Not super filling where my stomach is bursting but enough to be satisfied. The only negative was the truffle fries were mid, you can't really taste the truffle flavor it needed more. Our waiter was the best! He was so funny and making jokes with us, it really helped lighten the atmosphere. He was also very informative on the food, giving us great details and recommendations! He was always prompt to refill water without being asked! They also have me a free dessert for my birthday! I also like that they didn't sing (it's always so embarrassing) so that's a plus for me! There's valet parking for $10, or you can park on the street, or there's meter parking in the same parking lot, so you have a lot of options. Price was on the expensive end for the price. I understand it's fine dining but, $40+ dollars for 3 scallops is a bit much.. Overall, a great spot for a date, to celebrate a special occasion, would not come too often unless I'm rich.

I called to make a reservation for last Sunday about a month ago, and the person who answered the phone was super helpful and polite. I was pleased to be able to request a table outside with a view of the ocean. When we arrived at 12:40, the valet parking was FULL as was the public parking across the street so my father-in-law kindly dropped us off and parked a 10-minute walk away at his church. Our table was ready at 1, for a 12:45 reservation, which wasn't bad. Thanks to the awning on the patio, we were in the shade most of the 1.5hrs we spent there for brunch. It was a warm day for San Diego in March, so people were enjoying the beach, swimming, sunning, playing in the sand. We sat with a clear view of the lifeguard station and luckily nothing serious happened while we were there but if it had, we'd have had front row seats to the pole they slide down. Our server Dave was hilarious. He almost didn't know how to be serious, he was so jokey. Apparently he usually works evenings and was filling in for someone at brunch. When we ordered soft drinks, he kept automatically filling them and finally stopped at 3! Here were are orders: (the ones I took photos of anyway): Calamari appetizer (5/5)--tasty, perfectly cooked Flat-iron steak and eggs: (4/5) Blackened Mahi-Mahi sandwich (5/5)--savory seasoning on the mahi mahi, yummy pickled onions, avocado, abd dill pickles on a butter lettuce leaf, crispy skinny fries! I ate it open-faced with a knife and fork and left the bun behind. One of our party had a few food allergies and was able to make sure to order the Mediterranean omelette which was allergen-free. Dave even made sure they added gluten free-nut free bread for her. Well done! And thank you! The perfect sunny day to enjoy a luxurious brunch on the beach!!

You can't beat the view at this place. Definitely a great ambience being right on the water. The cocktails were tasty and everyone liked their main dishes. I got the Seabass and other people got the short rib. Both were good, but I would say get the short rib if you're hungrier because it's a bigger portion. Our server was super friendly along with the hostesses. My friend wanted to come a little early to set out some birthday decorations, and they were happy to accommodate this.

Ambiance-5/5 Beautiful by the water. For those of you who are from or familiar with Laguna beach, it reminds me of the Deck! Blue umbrellas and ocean front views. Parking is horrible. Valet is $10 Recommend residential or finding parking near Del Mar plaza if possible Food- 3.5/5 Ahi tuna- 3/5 Way too much sesame and the sauces were a bit overpowering but the fish itself was good and tasted fresh Shrimp Greek salad-4/5 Simple but delicious Wish it had more shrimp and cherry/grape tomatoes instead of large slices of tomatoes Liked the cucumbers

Poseidon On The Beach certainly lives up to the name, what a gorgeous location to sit and eat right up by the ocean! I think they did a great job accommodating our extra large party, our hostess especially was super sweet and helpful. I had a very yummy avocado toast, and iced coffee with almond milk. I have to say it was a bit difficult for me to order and get answers from the staff, I hope to see more options/knowledge of and accommodation of various dietary restrictions from this otherwise wonderful restaurant! Appreciated the almond milk for my iced coffee!

The outdoor patio right on the beach is the star of this restaurant. We always request to sit outside and most seats have some shade. It gets pretty busy on the weekends. We try to go on the weekdays instead to avoid the crowds. Food is hit or miss and a little on the pricey side. Expected in this part of town and the prime beachfront location. They gave us a delicious complimentary carrot cake since we were celebrating a birthday! There is valet parking and I recommend it since free parking in the area is very limited. Paid street parking has a 2 hr limit and the paid parking lot across the street can cost more than the valet parking.

4/18/26 checked out the beach near La Jolla and wanted to snack on something before dinner. No reservation so we couldn't sit outside in the deck but we were able to sit at a counter top table and still catch the ocean view. We ordered truffle fries and sautéed mushrooms, they paired well together and it was really nice to eat. Restaurant is busy as it's on the beach. Waiters were friendly. Happy eats!

You can't be the location for San Diego beach front dining! They offer a great menu with a variety of food options and an expensive bar/drink menu. We started with brussel sprouts and calamari- both were very good. I had the short ribs and they were so tender and delicious. You will pay for the ambience but it's so worth it. A perfect place to celebrate a special event or just a beautiful day/night in Del Mar. Love Poseidon!

Enjoyable dinner this evening after calling and they were able to accommodate us 30 minutes sooner than the online reservations which worked out perfectly. We came after sunset and chose to dine inside since it was a cooler night out. The views were beautiful with the ocean view at this fine dining restaurant in Del Mar. Our server was Lupe and she gave amazing service, nice and efficient. For dinner I tried their calamari for appetizer (cooked perfectly with yummy dipping sauce), braised beef short rib (juicy, tender, and delicious veggie varieties) and had their spicy tequila cocktail (fantastic!). 5 stars!

When we bring guests, they make us feel so proud to have such a gem right in our neighborhood. And don't even get me started on the food. Of course, the steaks are fantastic, but their appetizers and other entrées are just as worthy of attention. We've tried pretty much every non-steak item on the menu, and we've never been disappointed. The lobster is a particular favorite of ours--so fresh, juicy, and perfectly cooked. I love that they even shell it for us and put it back together, making it so much easier to enjoy without the mess. Our usual favorites are the hamachi crudo, Parker rolls, lobster, and truffle creamed spinach. Those are the dishes we find ourselves ordering again and again. And the bartenders deserve a special shoutout too. They're always so polite, friendly, and welcoming. We did nicely request a table inside which we got, but were told the happy hour menu was not available to us. Restaurant at 5pm was nearly empty. Positive: Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was patient as we took a bit to decide what to have. Negative: There was a lot of "have you decided yet?" returns. Clearly he'd wanted to turn the table. Positive: The food was very well prepared. Filet mignon was tender and flavorful (though I doubt it was a full portion and two of us had to share it). Negative: Everything is à la carte, and mains - like our steak - were served on completely bare plates. Not even a garnish for presentation. Lamb chop "lollipops" served in a bowl. Just tacky. The side of creamed spinach was more cream than spinach, and for a side billed as a sharing portion it was small. Positive: Once our meal started we were not rushed. Atmosphere is a bit dark but fine for this kind of steakhouse. The crème brûlée was lovely... Sorry, no desire to return to this pricey spot.

Wine list is what you need. Not huge, but full of solid wines. Review for the attached restaurant: Kind and efficient service. Joy was stellar!!! Nice welcome upon coming in. Server had it all nailed down. Look forward to coming again! 5/20/26 visit

Our server was fine and friendly. The food came out quickly. We had the chips and salsa (excellent). I asked for a non spicy salsa and my friends wanted spicy so they brought some of each. We split the the Heart of Palm Ceviche! So amazing and it was big with a beautiful presentation. Just delicious. I could have eaten that alone with no other items. It was a vegan Ceviche and the fish was not missed. My friends ordered really cool cocktails and raved about them. My one friend said that this is the only place she can get this particular cocktail and that she comes here just for it. I ordered 2 tacos (Mr. Asparagus and the Baja fish taco). Both delicious and they came with housemade potato chips (which I thought was weird until I tasted them). I was so full but I couldn't not eat the chips because they were so good. One friend ordered the Quesabirria and she didn't love it. It was very strange as it was wrapped in fried cheese. They also ordered the other tacos and loved them. The only one that didn't get a thumbs up was the Quesabirria. I am looking forward to introducing this restaurant to other friends. So good!

Honestly, 9/10 for a veggie taco because the filling was well seasoned and dressed. The asparagus taco was unfortunately a different story. The asparagus was prepared well, crunchy on the outside but still tender when you bite into it. However, it was not seasoned as well and paled in comparison to the Yogi. The shrimp taco was okay. I think they were very heavy handed with the toppings and dressings and did little in terms of the actual preparation of the shrimp. The chicken taco on the other hand was DELICIOUS. The meat was seasoned well and so juicy. The pineapple salsa was the perfect touch!
