I don't know why this resort is getting hit so hard with terrible reviews, but I'm assuming they are constantly working to get the kinks out because we had an amazing time this past weekend. Our first time staying there, so I will admit that navigating the entrance and locating the valet was a little confusing, but it was smooth sailing after that. It was a busy weekend for them, but we still received outstanding service from check in and the valet. The staff seemed truly eager to assist with anything we needed. Our room was nicely updated, spacious and comfortable. The food and drinks at the restaurants (Rare and Goat) were amazing and worth the prices. It was a short stay, but would like to return for a longer visit to check out everything else the resort has to offer. I recommend this place to any out of towners! read more

An absolute joy! Spent the day at saddlebrook to enjoy their pickleball and pool. Not disappointed at all. Their newly renovated lobby is like something out of my Pinterest board. Cozy, inviting, and spa like. Heath welcomed our group and answered all our questions. He was a great host. Highly recommend taking pickleball lessons from David. He has patience and knowledge. Plus a very positive and upbeat attitude that made our experience even more fun. Last, their pool is stunning! The lounge chairs are by far the most comfortable I've had for any resort I've been to. I had high hopes for this resort, as we were here for a week for a corporate sales meeting. but unfortunately, the experience felt less like a relaxing getaway and more like being assigned to a forgotten outpost with room keys. The rooms were not only smelly and poorly cared for, but they came with a special bonus: food left in the refrigerator from a previous guest. Nothing says "luxury resort" quite like opening the fridge and discovering someone else's leftovers still enjoying their vacation. The entire hotel and conference center feels old, dated, and badly in need of attention. Not "charming historic character" dated -- more like "no one has invested in this place since fax machines were exciting" dated. Getting from the rooms to the conference center is its own endurance event. Be prepared to hike what feels like a country mile just to attend a meeting. They do offer golf cart pickup, theoretically. Whether someone actually arrives is apparently part of the resort's mystery-adventure experience. Food options were also a disappointment. The resort advertises a high-end steak restaurant, which sounds wonderful until you realize it was never open. That left the bar as the only real food option, because apparently nothing says resort dining like being forced to eat wherever someone happens to still be serving fries. Overall, this property is tired, inconvenient, poorly maintained, and wildly overpromised. The marketing suggests upscale resort. The reality suggests "conference center that gave up." I would not recommend staying here unless you enjoy mystery leftovers, long walks, and the suspense of wondering whether basic services will happen. read more

HERE WE GO : Post renovation review. Staff (4.5/5) : Friendly and did the best they could for us. RARE 1981 Restaurant (3.5/5) : We enjoyed every dish. Service was good. Theres not a lot on the menu, so they should be adding items. The price on the fish/steak is way too high considering there are four star restaurants just outside the resort where the prices are much lower. Wanted a cup of coffee and they didn't have regular milk. We stood there for 15 minutes, waiting for coffee. Never got the milk. ** There's another restaurant just across the hallway from RARE and the menu is almost identical, and the look/style of the restaurant is identical. I think that they should've given that other Restaurant a different look so that you could feel like you're in a different spot with a different menu** ROOM (2.5/5) There are connecting doors from one room to the next and a 2 inch gap underneath that door so you can hear everything that your neighbor is saying/doing. The walls are very thin and I did have to approach our neighbor and tell him to keep it down. When we got into our room, you could see that the room had been modernized. Very similar to what you would get at a Marriott. The towel holder in the bathroom fell off the wall when we put a towel on it. The toilet paper holder was extremely loose. When we walked out on the balcony. The screen door was completely removed and just sitting on the balcony. Didn't like the pillows on the bed and unfortunately. Low quality. The flitted sheet was way too small and kept on coming off the bed. It would be nice if they put microwaves in the rooms as well. Palmhaus (3.5/5) : the drinks were good, but I personally felt that they should've had much more liquor at a resort bar. Ben was our bartender during our stay and he did a good job at keeping us company and making good drinks. The menu was minimal. Probably could've added some items and done a little bit better. Pool (3.5/5) : Although we did not use it, you could see that they put some money into updated furniture with some comfortable chairs and new loungers. While the pool itself is still a bit outdated, it doesn't look bad. The reason why I give it three out of five is because although this is out of their control, there was a half eaten very large fish in the pool, which I can only assume must've came from a large bird. Golf (3.5/5) : I played all 3, 9 hole courses. You can see that they clearly put their money into Pine and Oak. I thought the course layout was good and the golf was pretty solid all around, especially considering it was late January. However, I Did play Cypress, and I would say just stay away from that nine because it's not in good shape and other than the layout, I didn't think it complimented the Resort well when it came to a place that just put $90 million into it. Check in Area (3/5) : they claimed that they had some heating issues and that it was fixed however inside of that entire area, which is where the restaurants are located along with the coffee shop, etc. was very cold every single time we went in there. There's still a little bit of work left to do as I believe they're adding a sports bar as well. I just wish the heat would've worked because it would've been way more comfortable. Everything from the restaurants to the check-in area, to the coffee shop was pretty damn cold. Booking : we booked directly through Saddlebrook originally and for four nights stay it came out to just under $1300. A week before we left I looked on Expedia and got the same exact room for $812. When we checked out, there was about $120 in Resort fees on top of the 812. I would say shop around for the best price before you booked directly with Saddlebrook. Valet : $30 a day to park and they FORCE you to use their valet. Absolute nonsense. - Ultimately you get what you pay for and although our trip did not go the way that we had envisioned it and the fact that there are 1 million golf resorts around the country. I would say it's highly unlikely that I will ever visit Saddlebrook again. When you visit a resort to play golf etc, you want to have an experience that makes you go holy shit. I have to come back here. I went to Pinehurst in Carolina, I stayed there for three nights and paid $1020 total. Had breakfast included and that Resort is absolutely top of the line. It was essentially the same price at Saddlebrook and you could not on any given day try to compare those two resorts. They still have a a lot of work to do over at Saddlebrook to gain people's trust and earn money. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place after staying here 2 different times, for 2 nights each stay. My first issue is with the mandatory valet parking. I understand not wanting people driving cars around the resort / on the narrow paths to the rooms, but being forced to valet when the lot where they park the cars is 50 yards from the main lobby is insane. It's a legit normal parkinglot 99.9% of people are perfectly capable of parking their own car in. Our first two-night stay was fine, aside from the fact that the place was under construction/remodeling, one of the restaurants was closed, and there was dust/debris all around. The issues we had with the room were that the shower in room 1 backed up / took forever to drain, so you were standing in water the whole time, and the AC vent in the same room rattled all night long. I literally had to blast white noise from youtube app on the tv just to get some sleep. A minor thing but still super annoying if you NEED to sleep because you're exhausted or have something to do the next day. Our Second 2-night stay started off a little wonky because for whatever reason the 2 night booking didn't go through , it was booked as 2 single night stays and the room somehow, even though booked okay online) wasn't available for the 2nd night because the 'owners' of the room would be there. We were initially told all we had to do was come into the lobby in the AM and just 're-book' the room, however it was actually that we had to move to a new room. The lady whom my girlfriend talked to about this the day before (in person) acted like she'd never seen us before, despite being the one who told us to just come by to rebook. A semi-minor thing, except for being completely unpacked, not expecting to have to move rooms, and having to kiddos under 5 with us. We had the same exact issue with the noisy AC vent in this room. (not the same room as the 1st stay) There were also several of those pointy/sharp curtain pins on the floor, which the kiddos or we could have easily stepped on. The 2nd room was almost identical to the 1st (including the hella noisy AV vent), with the exception the door to the more private room was off the track and only half painted. We mentioned the issue with the door at like 11:30 AM, and checked backed at like 5:40 PM and it was "we'll try to get someone out there". They claimed they had maintence on site but couldn't get someone to look at a door off track? During the night one of her daughters woke up crying / scared from a nightmare and we couldn't get the door open. We were essentially trapped in the room. It took legit 10 mins of damn near breaking the door from force to finally get it to slide open. Imagine if one of the kids was injured / chocking / there was a fire, etc. I noticed the next morning the screen to our room was atop a bush ouside the room and couldn't help but think a maintence person prolly got trapped in the room and had to escape via the window. The valet staff was very nice and friendly but its all a bit much. read more

This review is for the golf course! What you may reads in reviews is not wrong. I'm sure the pace of play can be slow and the course layout is funky since Saddlebrook switched to 3 9-hole courses. But this course is amazing, truly. The security guard in the booth out by the main road was zero help and should be fired. He seemed hung over and completely disinterested in giving proper directions to the pro shop which led to 10 minutes of driving around looking. Valet is the only parking options and you have to then be transported by shuttle to the pro shop. This whole experience is a bit of a hassle. The guy in the pro shop was very friendly, as was the ranger. So the whole check in process was somewhat rough and dysfunctional. Also, the course is cut up weird now and you'll find yourself driving in the main road far too frequently. However, the condition of the course more than made up for these setbacks. The setting is beautiful and every green, tee box, and fairway was pristine. In spite of the stressful early process, I will definitely be back! read more

Great resort and even better customer service. Came for a tennis vacay and definitely enjoyed myself! I loved the updated rooms and full kitchen. Coach David was great with our tennis clinic, especially being my first time on clay. Nachos and smash burger at GOAT were the winners during the stay and Krystals cappuccinos I had everyday at Brew! Also a big thank you to Armando and the other gentlemen who drove us around everywhere on the resort. I would love for the gym to be updated a bit with the cardio machines but still got a good workout in. I definitely will come back in the future. read more

I was here for a conference for the week. ACCOMMODATION: Room was decent with a kitchenette, 2 bedrooms which I had to share with another attendee. Their room had a sliding wood/glass door that didn't lock and mine was a sliding door with flimsy latch. I def wouldn't have stayed if I was concerned about security...couldn't sit on patio as there were wasps nest. FRONT DESK: She needs training. RESTAURANT: Only one was open when I went (this was several months ago), they had like 4 items and RIDICULOUS prices and service was AWFUL, even for a to go... CAFE: Over priced again..and coffee not great. VALET: The young Hispanic guy that I kept crossing everytime I needed a cart ride was only into his phone. I was concerned at one point because he was driving while texting (yes I know it's a golf cart but still) he barely took his eyes off the phone. LAUNDRY: OLD dirty AND 2 did not work! Each bldg has 1 washer and dryer and I had to walk to different bldgs to find one that worked. GOLF: Anyone I came into contact with on the green was very nice. GYM: Gym was NOT walkable it was miles away. CATERING: Lady was nice that set up dinner and breakfast, not sure what the deal with the kitchen chef/staff was because twice they would come out and remove food we paid for before people even got to eat! Overall, good (If I was paying it would be rated diff). This place can try and update all they want, but without the proper staff it's not going to be a success. Highly recommend the owner gets a new manager because this one is not competent (never met the manager just assuming as they wouldn't have all these negative reviews if the manager was competent, whilst Reno isn't fixable...clean sheets and staff are). read more

I would never stay at this place again. I came down for a conference and was placed in a one bedroom unit which had a mattress that you couldn't get out of. After one night of no sleep, I requested a move. They moved me to a two bedroom and while the beds were better, the unit was in disrepair and filthy. Several people from the conference noted similar conditions along with roaches probably brought on by the fact that these rooms only get housekeeping every FOUR days. You simply cannot have trash hanging around that long and expect no bugs. The furniture is dated and worn out. The couch cushions sag. The carpet is stained. While the convention space was adequate, we sat for a meeting inside the restaurant (Dempsey Two) and were never waited on. The entire campus is in desperate need of a deep clean including pressure washing. The interiors of these rooms/units need regular cleaning and IMMEDIATE repairs. What is even more surprising is that management is either clueless or completely unaware of these issues that persist through the campus. All you have to do is come to Yelp to see that the issues are widespread and chronic. The resort sold to Mast Capital in 2022 for $15M which should tell us how much in disrepair the resort is. It is also reported that wide sweeping renovations occurred. In my five days here, I couldn't tell where. I'm sure the golfing is wonderful. The accommodations however were extremely subpar. Dated. Dirty. Disrepair. I will also be sharing with my professional conference that more due diligence needs to occur before picking a venue. read more

Special shout out to Tobias working the ballroom, he was absolutely outstanding and did a fantastic job throughout our entire visit. He was the consummate professional and hard worker, giving credit to the Saddlebrook brand for hiring such a phenomenal individual. They told us when made our reservation that the room had been renovated but when we checked in they rephrased it with our room had been "refreshed". Only one chair outside with the table on the patio. Not sure when the last time the slider had been cleaned. You will not receive housekeeping service if you are not staying more than three nights. You get an ice bucket in your room but the ice machine in our pod was not working. We had to wait hours for the front desk to get someone to deliver ice to us. They have over 500 rooms but only about 100 are operational now. I would really look elsewhere for a few days. I will say, the restaurant is delicious for dinner. You do need to call the front desk in order to get a ride there because it is kind of far to walk from your room. read more

We stayed here for a golf tournament in March. While staff was friendly , many seemed confused as to hours of operations etc. mandatory valet is required and ridiculous. Room was recently remodeled but still seemed to be a work in process. Gym facilities are nice. Golf staff were nice. Bartenders at pool are great ambassadors of Saddlebrook and should be rewarded. Food quality on property is ok. Take away options are lacking. Fine dining is good but expensive. There was another restaurant area but no hours etc posted. We just finished a 4 day tennis clinic stay, and had a great time. The renovation has really spruced up SB and it looks very nice. Shout out to Khrystal in Brew who got us started with a smile every morning about 7:15. First rate coffee and breakfast goodies. The hotel, although they claim to have renovated, is tired and poorly run. There is no communication between the hotel and tennis program. Here it was, morning of check out. We called from 9:00 until 10:16 and never got an answered phone call to guest services/transportation to try desperately to get someone with the elongated golf carts to come pick us up from our room, stop quickly and then take us to registration or just even drop us at our car! The parking lot is right across the street from the registration/front desk area, but it was about a 25/35 minute, very difficult walk for us with all our luggage and belongings. Myself personally, I am not even supposed to be walking much at all because my right foot has sustained extreme nerve damage and swells twice its normal size and is extremely painful. Imagine walking with THAT impediment and add 30 lbs of belongings to that. Horrendously long, miserable hike while limping and almost dragging one leg to get to the registration office--just to check out on time. The only ONE TIME the endlessly ringing front desk phone was answered, the person patched us to guest services/transportation and then it just endlessly rang again for the next 15 minutes, so we just decided to make the hike ourselves since no one was going to help us. My husband was so mad he started yelling stuff until I threatened him to just shut up about it. No one was going to do anything about it now...it's in the past and even the one woman at the front desk only stared at me like either I was lying or like I'm an idiot when I tried to explain why he was so upset. Even AFTER we checked out, she called the one guy with the golf cart to come shuttle us to our car on the walkie talkie and he said it would be "a while" since he was helping other guests. Why do they EVER only have one single person on duty especially around checkout time? That's insane and completely irresponsible of management. People are trying desperately to get to the front office before check out time!!! What the heck are they thinking???!! Aside from that, there were 3-4 young guys -- college age I assume from the extremely loud phone conversation I was a party to (not by any intention of my own, I assure you) after 9-10pm from their upstairs balcony. The phlegm spitting, hocking, swearing and stomping back and forth until TWO O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING was just inexcusable. It sounded like they were either wrestling or playing a football game above our heads!! I was so so close to going up there and beating on the door, but I finally fell asleep out of exhaustion. Why in the world would they put a bunch of kids above older people who are tired and trying to sleep? These kids were not only stomping back and forth upstairs, occasionally punctuating the stomping with a huge BOOM!! as if someone had thrown themselves on the floor. Omg...the worst night's sleep anywhere for $232 I've ever regretted staying somewhere to get. We will NEVER EVER EVER stay here again. Horrible guest services, horrible phone response and old, out-dated suites with long black hairs in all corners of the bathroom except for one corner that had instead, a dead bug as decoration. Lastly, I'm glad we had cell phones because the "room phone" was basically just a prop as it had no cord and was not even connected. What a joke! read more

Hotel Review: A Nightmare Stay When you book a hotel, the least you expect is cleanliness and a decent experience. Unfortunately, this was far from what we encountered. The Issues Started Upon Arrival: * No parking available on-site. We had to park almost 3 miles away and wait for shuttles to pick us up because even valet parking was "full." * The check-in process was slow, with a line that barely moved, setting the tone for what was to come. The Room: * The door was broken and dirty from moisture damage. * Inside, we found filthy walls, carpets that seemed untouched for ages, stained sheets, and a strong odor of dust and humidity. * To top it off: dead cockroaches, visible mold, spider webs, and even wasp nests in other rooms. Housekeeping? Nowhere to be found. The trash in our room was never collected during our stay. This was by far the most disgusting experience I've ever had in a hotel. I will NEVER step foot here again, and I do not recommend it to anyone. Check out the pictures to see the condition of our room for yourself. Everyone mentioning the outdated room and some fixing they need to do. There is a sign currently at check in that says renovation is Feb 28 to March 3. They are fixing up these rooms and it shows. I'm checking out tomorrow after a 4 night stay here and it has been a wonderful experience. The one bedroom suite I had was very clean and no issues at all. Very spacious with large living room area and full kitchen with plates, glass wear, dish washer, stove, microwave, pot, pans, and toaster. The bed was very comfy. Walk in closet. Bathroom was clean with plenty of counter space. This resort is absolutely beautiful and easy to get to right off the highway. I used the pool and used both restaurants and visited the pool bar. The Golf Pro Shop was very nice with plenty of selection for clothes and all your golf needs, I bought a few things. The pool was huge at 500,000 gallons, very nice oasis feeling with plenty of chairs and pool side games to enjoy. Valet was suburb, very nice staff, always welcoming when I got back and never kept me waiting. This is a Valet only resort. So you will need to check your car in to Valet every time you come back and bell hop will give you a ride to your room with the golf cart. My room was walkable to and from valet so I didn't mind walking after the first night. You can not drive to your room, it's just not possible with the layout of the resort. There is a mandatory $30 valet per day for parking. There is also a $29.96 "resort fee" per day. I can't not wait to return and I look forward to coming back to this resort. Great job to the owners on the renovation, keeping the grounds so beautiful, and having awesome staff! 5 Stars! read more

My comment is only for the poolside bar and grill, if you are planning on eating there or have dined by the pool, be sure to check your receipt(s). The restaurant charged our card for more than what we signed for. Fortunately, we kept our receipt and checked it against our credit card statement where we discovered the overcharge. It's 12:30 am and I've been locked out for an hour. This is after an insane check-in experience. Had to wait in line to unpack car at front door, drive my car to self-park, walk back, get in line for 45 mins then wait for a golf cart to take me to my room. In dire need of renovations everywhere. The resort has so much potential!!! But the accommodations must be renovated. The units smell mildewy and moldy, the kitchen floor is dirty, the carpet has dark stains all over. Don't dare walk without slippers. The only saving grace is that the tennis courts are wonderful and we were close by for our tournament. You want to love the place, but the resort needs years of TLC to bring it back just to where it'll be decent. When I got there the Palmer course was torn out and all that was left was 3-9 hole courses the were a goat ranch at best. Mandatory valet parking at $30 a nite that was a hot mess getting your car, plus a "resort fee" that was added on as I checked out. The room was 2 steps above a motel 6 at the truck stop. I have been going to all of Saddlebrook Brunches since 1994 they were wonderful under the former owners. However, under the new owners the brunches are expensive, poorly displayed, food is overcooked, lacking in taste along with terrible service. I had to ask 3 times for someone to come to our table. We finally served ourselves to the food. My armchair was loose and fell off when I had to leave my chair. The wedged salad was wilted, the only seafood was shrimp lying on a salad plate. The roast beef was so tough you could not cut it. The dessert bar had a few cakes and missing was the famous Banana's Foster Bar. I had a party of 3 and my bill was astronomical with a 20% gratuity! They are using old folders to bring your bill to you. My credit card fell on the floor and luckily a server found it. Sadley, this will be my last Christmas Brunch. read more

I had came down to Saddlebrook for a conference and was left wanting to get a refund & leave during my stay there. 1. Not meant for anyone with disabilities 2. Front desk stops answering calls after 9pm 3. No request for towels, blankets, utensils was met when Front Desk was called. 4. No telephone, refrigerator, microwave, or modern outlets for USB ports. 5. The AC/Heat only had temperatures of 66 or 86 6. At $300+ for one night's stay in an 80's adult film decor type of room, I would rather get an AirBnB 7. There is absolutely no lighting for the outside patio. 8. A table with no chairs, only 1 trash can, a lounge chair, and no ironing board. Wouldn't recommend this place to any consumer. read more

Saddlebrook was probably nice at one part maybe 20 years ago but the property has some significant issues which makes it really challenging to recommend ever staying here. The worst part is the valet service which is required - this is $30 a night and is simply a nightmare. The valet does not have its act together - we were told to text ahead for our care but that usually didn't work. Every other guest was complaining about the valet while we were there. On top of everything they LOST THE KEY to our car and I had to run to our car with a back up key so we could make an appointment. If you require me to use the valet you better have a great valet otherwise just allow guests to self park. The hotel also never serviced our room. I was told they would every 3 days and whenever we requested. I requested multiple times and they never would come to our room. They didn't even come on day 3 or 4 (we stayed 5 nights). There was no place to put the trash so it just piled up in our room - and towards the end of our stay the room smelled of garbage which was unpleasant. Other than that the room was spacious - the grounds were nice, especially the nature bridge (just don't look on the side littered with trash). The internet was super fast which was good. This place is obviously run down with a staff that either don't care, or can't do anything to fix it. The big pool all over the ads is closed and has been for months. You can find that in small writing on a page off of the home menu. The rooms were disgusting. The first one had an obviously old and tired fitted sheet that had a fun mystery stain on it. A single chair on the balcony for a room with 2 people. The screen slider did not properly close either. The bathroom and wallpaper are obviously in need of refreshing. The second room I was transferred to, I walked on the carpet with bare feet after a shower and they turned them black even though it had been freshly "cleaned." The carpets are all stained. The wallpaper is old and peeling everywhere. The furniture is scuffed, damaged, and outdated. These rooms on the ads do not match what was delivered. They boast of huge renovations and charge like they are finished. I have stayed at nicer hotels on the side of the road for less and have left much more satisfied. I couldn't even stay the night. Mystery stains to me means the sheets are not properly cleaned and maintained. No self parking either. Enjoy the $35 valet fee! What a joke. read more

We arrived on Weds to stay until Sunday for a Convention Aug 9 - 13, 2023. I had made reservations since Sept 2023 to make sure it was smooth. We were given a room not clean but they immediately had housekeeping clean it up. The Front Desk promised an upgrade but never did, though they gave us a 1st floor which was better. Dempsey's restaurant served us Great Food! I had a sirloin & NY strip which were Excellent. I had salad with vegetables, mash potatoes. Very good. The resort will be getting renovated after our convention so it will become an incredible property. We are enjoying being here and hope to come back when it's fully redone. read more

What a tired, old and poorly maintained property. I was there as a part of a group event. Otherwise, I never would have stayed here. Very expensive too. The rooms are dated and maintenance appears to be non-existent. If you want to have some fun, call them and try to reach the front desk. It is impossible. This place may have been fantastic in the 1960's, but now? Not so much. I do not recommend. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE Do not ignore all of the negative reviews, it is all true or even worse than what people are explaining in these comments. The horrible stay started immediately when we checked into our room: -Dirty carpet -Musty smell -Outdated, dirty, and unkept kitchen and bathroom -DEAD COCKROACH IN THE ROOM BY THE SINK -Housekeeping took over an hour to remove the cockroach and just picked it up with their bare hands and sprayed the carpet with some kind of bug spray The more you looked, the worse it got: -Stained towels -Stained bedsheets -Dusty surfaces -Dirty furniture We requested to be moved to another room and were told "we don't have a cockroach problem" so we asked to see the room before we moved. We immediately saw ANOTHER LIVE COCKROACH IN THE KITCHEN of the other room and decided to just stay in the original room and have restless sleep with one eye open. Yes, there is access to pickleball and tennis courts and pool, but the poor quality is not worth your stay. It seems that the management is only spending money on the golf course for that clientele. The "resort" only offers valet parking and the it takes almost 10 min to get your car after you request. This place is at 10% occupancy for a reason. It doesn't matter that the grounds and lobby look "nice". I urge you to spend your vacation and money at a nicer and actually relaxing place. read more

Where do I start? Many falling hazards including loose pavement tiles everywhere, outdated rooms with broken ice maker, filthy fitness room, no designated non-smoking areas by pool, pain in the neck to park (ultimately must use valet), I wish I had just stayed in a regular hotel! Some great staff but some nasty front desk staff who basically ignored me for 10 minutes before looking up at me. read more
