I was excited to come get my nails done for the 1st time here. My aunt got me a certificate for Christmas & I finally was able to go today. I was sadly disappointed though & treated soooooo rudely by Michael. Totally wrong shape & I was going to ask to please just stop but I was scared he'd be even more rude. He literally laughed when I asked if I could get a couple gems on my nails. My nails look like they already need a fill! I honestly can't believe how I was treated. I don't get my nails done often so I didn't understand the different terminology nail salons use and he bashed me for that. I felt embarrassed and I just wanted to leave. I'm NEVER coming nor do I recommend. Raquel helped my sister and she was SOOOO nice and talked to us about the different terms and such. My sisters nails are beautiful. I'm taking my off. Never have I ever been SO happy with my nails. I always find something wrong and end up fixing them later. Not the case here! Jenny did my back fill and color change, she took her time. She didn't bombard me with the typical salon talk. Ladies you know what I'm talking about. Oh your so pretty! Do you have a boyfriend? The salon itself is stylishly decorated. There are ample pedicure chairs and nail technicians. They know their regular customers by name which is in my opinion great customer service. I will definitely be coming back and seeing Jenny. I would recommend scheduling an appointment even though they take walk ins. Especially if you want to see Jenny, she seems like a busy lady :) read more

Blows my mind how they treat customers. Literally watched them turn away someone they made an appointment for and accepted other offers! All because the person she made an appointment with called in. This poor woman cried because it was the day before her wedding and they did nothing. Told her they would get to her when they could... awful. My heart went out to this poor woman. Terrible customer service. Walked in with the hopes of getting in for a pedicure. Nobody acknowledged me when I walked in. The lady sitting in the front finally looked up after a while and asked in a snooty way how she could help me. I asked if anyone was available for a pedicure and she just said no we're all booked for today. I understand it's a Saturday afternoon and they were probably busy, but I took my chances walking in, not expecting to be greeted with such attitude. Thank goodness because I'd most definitely rather not give my money to a business who doesn't treat all their customers or potential customers well. Three times my daughter have visited here to have services - (first visit - full set/ pedi and fill/pedi, second visit full set/ pedi and fill/pedi as well as waxing and this last time just a wax) ... each visit these were the most rude, unprofessional, snide and unkind humans we have EVER experienced! THREE VISITS!!! I try very hard to give people the benefit of the doubt, especially if they are passing on an opportunity for new business... Like others, I found this place because of Jenny and their yelp page. It's been a very long time since I had a full set, but I fell in love with the pictures and had to give her a shot. The shop and atmosphere was pretty standard, all things considered. The hype around Jenny and her skills kind of led me to expect more, but it didn't look cheap. Just normal. Everyone was friendly, which was more important. I picked out my nail style from her yelp pictures, and also got hand-painted toes. Overall, I was very happy with the style, and would definitely go back. Like another reviewer pointed out, Jenny doesn't try to drown you in usual shop small talk, and it's nice to be able to relax and just enjoy the service. She will talk with you though, if you want. When I was feeling chatty, we chatted, and when I wasn't, we didn't. Just a few minor things, that I feel with more communication on my part could have been avoided: 1. I asked for a gel set, and ended up with acrylic with gel polish. Since I'm not a nail junkie, it wasn't until the set was completed that I realized that powder = acrylic. Perhaps they don't do gel sets, I don't know, but I would have appreciated more communication on that front. 2. The nail edges were a bit thick, and occasionally uneven. At a quick glance the edges and the end of the nails looked straight, but during the day I did notice that the nails were thicker than I would have liked, and they were uneven in spots. I fixed this quickly with a bit of filing, and if/when I go back, I feel confident that if I mention this to them, I would not have this issue again. In the end, I would definitely go back if I get the wild hair to get a full set ever again. Jenny is obviously very skilled with her hand painting and while the experience overall didn't blow my mind, I also was not disappointed. Worth an appointment. read more

So it's been awhile since I have done my nails. I let this place know what I wanted and I actually got the opposite. 1) I set up a appointment and I still had to wait about 30 min before I was seen. 2) I was never asked once to wash my hand, and I got not cuticle care. If I'm paying $50 for my nails to look good, I would think they would throw in a little maintenance with it. But I did t get any of that. 3) I asked for short nails, and my nails came out all different lengths. Some fingers were EXTREMELY noticeable. It also looked like I had them on for a week already, even though I just had them done. I asked for square shape, and some came out round, some square, and some that were a mix of round on one side and square on the other. They also came out super lumpy looking. The design I asked for was super simple, I wanted it on all my nails. But she seemed to be in a rush and only put it in two of my nails. I will NOT be back here. I honestly wasnt going to tip. But I'm a kind person. Also, I have a friend who recently went here too, and she also has the same problems and her nails started to fall off in the first week. They are so Rude and unhappy walk ins not welcome said I should make an appointment but they weren't busy

Safari Nails is across the street(ish) from my house, so I started going here out of sheer convenience. They can generally take you as a walk-in, usually with a bit of a wait, so I try to make an appointment to come in. This does not always guarantee I don't experience a wait, but it's usually 10-15 minutes if it happens. The shop seems to add new color options every so often, and it's about $40 for a gel manicure ($45 for French tips). This is a little more than I'm used to paying in Vegas, but it's not outrageous for the field. The quality of my manicure does fluctuate a little based on who is doing them -- I don't make appointments for a specific person as I'm still learning who I like, so that could partially be my fault. The younger guy and gal who sit right up front do good work, as does the woman who seems to sit in the very back. I clearly have not caught their names. This is the only nail shop I've been to in Reno/Sparks so far, so I can't accurately say where this falls in comparison to other places. It's a fine option for me, though, so maybe it will be for you, too! read more

Jenny must have rushed through my fill because the sides of my real nails were still visible and two different nails broke within 24 hrs. Went in 3 times to fix them, instead of adding acrylic to the sides of my nails, she painted gel over them. Another nail broke yesterday and this is probably the worst set ever and usually I'm pretty satisfied. I guess you will get rushed service because of them over booking time slots. Don't recommend the lady there was rude. Had an appointment at 130 get there 120 and she says my appointment was at 1pm. When I know when my appointment was made as I made plans for childcare right after my appointment was made. She tells me sorry but they took someone else?? Not to mention I gave a second chance to coming back after my gel set only lasted two weeks? Just got my nails done for the first time from Safari Nails and they turned out great! My nail tech was Hong and she did an amazing job! I showed her a pic from pinterest and she made it happen! I have found my nail place now and will continue to see Hong :) They do walk ins but make an appointment. Price was what you would see around town. Very pleased! read more

I am a retired salon owner. After moving to Reno in 2002, it took me five years to find a place to get my nails done that was worth going back to. Jenny is definitely the best in this area. While my mother was alive when you went every three weeks. My mother was in a wheelchair and paralyzed on one side. Everyone in the salon was very helpful and took great care of her. I get compliments on my nails from people at least 30 years to 40 years younger than me all the time. They sterilize everything in the manner that they should according to state law and I have never had any problems. read more

My family and I always come here and the service is usually decent, but this last time I got an acrylic full set and a pink color on top(I'll add a picture). The day after I had got them they started turning a weird brown color and note I don't use any products that would stain. When I went back to ask them if they would politely fix them because I did leave a decent tip.They were rude and said I'd have to have used something again I don't use anything. They fixed them by filing and redoing the color on top. Now that they're fixed they're turning brown once again! The service was shitty! read more

To me, this place is mediocre. Had to try a different nail salon today since my regular nail tech is on vacation for 3 weeks. Anyone who gets their nails done can tell you how hard it is to find someone good. I made an appointment a day before and came in right on time the day of. Walked in, nobody greeted me. They looked up and stared at me, but didn't say anything. Until about 5 mins later, one of them looks up again and says hello. So I finally get someone to come help me and he seats me at this table. He worked very fast, and the results were not that great. Although he didn't cut me or anything, a few nails were slanted and totally uneven, not enough coats were done so you can see through the nail color, and the lines on the design are so uneven. My husband, who never really notices my nails, commented on how slanted some were. That's seriously saying something. I also saw a lady come in a few mins after me, also with an appointment, and they had her soaking her feet in the water for 30 mins before someone came and helped her. This place did look clean and there were plenty of chairs for pedicures and tables for the manicures. So I'm sure they can accommodate large groups. read more
