    entry point to jungle gym
    Alex G.

If I could give 6 stars, I would! This review is for my experience hosting my son's birthday party here. Pros: Online reservation system is straight forward Staff is extremely accommodating, pleasant and helpful on day of event (they handled party room set up, cake cutting/ serving, pizza serving (it is passed around butler style, not just boxes open for self serving which I thought was a nice touch) and clean up! The jungle gym is huge and fun! They also have a separate area for babies and toddlers. In between parties, I actually saw staff members disinfecting the gym! There is also a staff member who is inside the actual gym to ensure kid safety at all times. The added arcade experience after our pizza/cake time was a huge hit with the littles! Cons: Cannot bring any outside beverages (must purchase water, juice, soda etc through them which can get costly). Only guest food option is their vendor Seniores Pizza (GF pizza available) - no exceptions A lot of my guests showed up late (unfortunately) and the play time is timed which means the kids won't get the full 40-50min in the gym. I would REALLY emphasize guests to arrive 15 min prior for parking/check in. Overall highly recommend for a fun, clean, stress free party for your littles. Thank you to a well-trained, profession staff for making my son's birthday a great experience for all!

    Clean and fun!

Quite mechanical. No warmth. They say the party is two hour slot, they start rushing everyone out at 90 minute mark. Bad experience.

Are adults allowed in the play structure?

Is it possible to schedule an open play?

Hi Raquel! Yes, Private Play times are available to book online!

Would this place be appropriate for a birthday party for a one year old?

It depends on the guests. If the guests are 3+, then they'll have fun. There's a small play area that might be good for 1-3 year olds, but if all the little ones are all babies, then there's not much for them to do.

I think younger kids would get runned over in the play structure and older kids might think it is too kiddish.

Daniel and I started talking about and planning our wedding late February 2022. And we were recommended to reach out to Lana and her company Rainbow Chefs for the catering. Daniel and I were originally planning for a cocktail wedding, as opposed to a traditional sit down dinner. We were madly sending out inquiries to different food catering companies, food trucks, restaurants, etc., with no hope in regards to the insanely expensive prices for the amount of people we were expecting, about 200+. Finally, Daniel's manager suggested that we reach out to Lana. We scheduled a zoom meeting with her, and had an unforgettable first impression of her and her plan for our last minute wedding. She broke down every detail we needed to be aware of and prepared for, including prices, and even discussed different options her company could offer to us. It was not easy to plan a wedding with 200+ guest invitations, in 4-5 months, but thankfully we were lucky enough that Lana and her crew were available for our wedding date and were able to help us throughout the process. During the entire planning time, Lana diligently checked in on both Daniel and I, sometimes individually, making sure tasks were being done and loose ends were being tied in time for our big day. Not only was Lana on top of us daily/weekly regarding our wedding planning, but she was also conscientious toward our mental health and instilled lots of important advice. About a week before our wedding day, Lana, Kate and Viana came to the venue, along with our other vendors, to have an overall tour of the venue, to make sure they knew where to maneuver the food tables, the kitchen staff, the bar situation, etc. On the day of the wedding, Lana was exceptional! Her and the Rainbow Chefs crew made sure our guests were well taken care of. I got compliments from our family and friends about how great the staff was, so that definitely meant alot. Throughout the night, along with our wedding planner, Lana was making sure that Daniel and I ate, that we were aware of things she and her crew were doing, etc. They definitely helped ease some of our planning and event stresses. The communication, diligence and honesty that Lana and Rainbow Chefs presented to us throughout the entire planning and event process was one that we absolutely recommend to anyone who is planning a wedding or large event/party!!

Very questionable communication from the Rainbow Chefs Update- After three painful weeks, I have finally received the e-recipes that were promised to us in August, 2021. During the past three weeks, Lana from Rainbow chefs kept on promising that she will send the recipes to me without providing a date. I had to follow up with her multiples time to get an update. Along the way Lana kept on saying that Rainbow chefs went above and beyond to create the recipes for our camp and the recipes are supposed to be an "extra effort" for our camp, however, this was actually advertised to us before we signed the contract. I felt really annoyed that one dared to describe something that's 11 months late as "extra effort". In addition, the first version I received was full of typos/formatting errors and missing TWO dishes. Lana told me those were missing because she lost the recipe files--but according to her that everything was custom made for our camp so she had to write the recipes from scratch? If she had the "files" all this time why not just send to me? To conclude, lots of inconsistent information from Rainbow chefs. I would advise everyone to think twice before choosing to work with Rainbow chefs

We came by on an afternoon during open gym - you pay a flat fee to get up to 4 hours of playtime. While there are some staff members present that might give a bit of guidance on how to go through the courses, it is relatively hands off and you are on your own. Parents can sit on the chairs on the side to watch, but can also go on the mat as needed to assist their kids. My son really enjoyed his experience here - when he started off, he could only go halfway up the warped wall but after a couple of hours of practice, was able to reach the top with his hand. He is already looking forward to his next visit here so he can try again. Everyone wears their outside shoes on the mat so I think that takes away a bit from the cleanliness of the place, especially on the type of rainy day that we came by. Bathrooms could have also been a bit better maintained - paper products were running low and soap ran out as well. Not a huge deal as we could work around this, just something that could be optimized for an even better experience.

The first day of camp had water play. My kid's shoes got wet so the counselor helped her put them in the sun and had her sit on a bench to wait. Then everyone went indoors for other activities, leaving my kid alone outside. She was not able to get to her shoes because the pavement was really hot. After a long time, she finally just ran over to her shoes. A counselor then found her and brought her to art class when they were cleaning up after the activity. I don't know exactly how long she was left outside on her own in the hot sun, but being that a class ended in that time, I'm guessing 30-60 minutes. She came home near tears. I called Tony who was 90% business-apologetic and 10% defensive (claiming that she might have only been out there for 10 minutes, as kids don't have a strong concept of time). ** There is NO check in and check out protocol. There is no checking off of names when they arrive, and no ID checking during pickup. And obviously no head-counting when camp is in session. ** I can't speak for all the counselors, but all the ones that I saw during drop off were quite young (teenagers) and just talking with each other rather than interacting with the kids. Some of them were chatting with each other as they made friendship bracelets. ** They struggled with enrollment this summer and sent us many emails the weeks prior, encouraging us to spread the word. This is fine and understandable, but I felt they took it too far when my daughter told me that they were telling the kids that "Galileo is boring" and negative statements about other camps. ** On the last day of pick up, my husband went to pick up my daughter and found Tony getting in the kids' faces and yelling at them, drill-sergeant style. Tony was saying how he was fed up and how they weren't listening. While I did not witness this, my husband was quite shaken up and wanted to file a report. (We didn't, and felt it was better for us to share our experience and let parents make their own decisions) All this being said, there are some positives about this camp. The material and communication prior to camp was impressive. Tony was responsive when we had the issue the first day, and he did follow up the following day to check in. He was also flexible with allowing my younger daughter to drop out earlier this summer due to schedule conflict and charged us a reasonable fee. My daughter did have fun at moments, and came home quite happy with her face painted one day. For us, the negatives outweigh the positives by a landslide, and we don't be going back.

Its math sequence is very well thought out (e.g., one track for pure math and one for applied math) and allows plenty of room for advanced students to progress beyond calculus. We are pleased to see that our son has been spending a good amount of time at the I-Lab before/after school (helped greatly by his new found independence via the bike+Caltrain combination) and loves every minute of it! Nueva's Upper School teachers are helpful and highly qualified; many are practitioners/experts in their field. Our son's Japanese language teacher has a wonderful sense of Japanese humor that makes language learning so much more enjoyable. The Upper School has an advisory system that allows small groups of students to interact with their advisors, who in turn provide feedback to parents (especially new families!) on how their kids are doing at school from time to time. It's a great way to integrate incoming 9th graders (i.e., many new friends were made over a 3-day camping trip before start of school) and build strong ties between school and families from the get-go. Our son has a great start of the year with Nueva. Its Upper School is one we would highly recommend for families looking for a well-rounded STEM education and great teachers in a supportive environment for their kids.

I initially became interested in The Nueva School after subscribing to receive job postings. What…read moreimmediately stood out to me was how frequently new openings were being posted -- sometimes seemingly every week. As an educator, that naturally made me wonder about staff turnover. Eventually, I applied for a position and interviewed with someone who honestly seemed very kind and thoughtful. I left the interview feeling optimistic, especially because I was told I would hear back by the end of the week. In education hiring, timelines usually move quickly because schools want to secure teachers for the upcoming school year before candidates accept other opportunities. Weeks went by with complete silence. No follow-up, no rejection email, nothing. Wanting to close the loop professionally, I eventually emailed to thank the interviewer for her time and wish her and her team the best for the upcoming year. Oddly, the message bounced back, even though I had been communicating through that exact same email thread previously. At that point, I honestly began wondering whether the communication had somehow been compromised or whether I had fallen into some strange scam situation. I even called the school directly to verify that the interviewer actually worked there, and thankfully she did. The school then provided me with another email address associated with their official domain. I forwarded my message there as well, but once again received no response at all. Whether the message reached her or not, the overall experience felt surprisingly unprofessional and dismissive, especially after what had initially seemed like such a warm interaction. After later reading additional reviews and experiences from others, I ultimately realized this probably was not the right fit for me anyway. Still, basic communication and professional courtesy go a long way, particularly in education, where relationships and respect matter.

I appreciate the instructor taking the time to explain food science (e.g why European butter has a higher fat percentage/melts more easily when contact is made with skin, why we refrigerate dough). However, I do feel like there was a lot of time spent explaining this when we could have been working on making the croissant. I'd prefer if we just got succinct instructions and got sent on our way while fun facts about croissants and how different ingredients interact with one another are told to us. I've taken a baking class at Sur La Table where there are TVs placed around each perspective, so everyone can watch as the instructor works on her dish instead of awkwardly huddling around the table craning to get a peek at the proper technique. When I made my croissant at home, they were perfectly buttery and flaky. Baking Arts also printed out PDF instructions for us to take home. As for the selection of baking goods, I noticed a lot of novelty tools that caught my interest! They have a decent selection of food dyes and edible glitter/pearls that are perfect for decorating cakes and baking with.

Ever since my daughter was ready to attend summer camp, I've always heard good things about Galileo, especially that they focus on science and art -- every modern parent lights up at the idea of STEAM philosophy (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). So kiddo gave this a try as an upcoming 4th grader. We signed up for a few weeks that focused on topics she was interested in. In comparison to other camps, Galileo charges higher on the scale. They make up for this by having a mostly friendly staff and I love that the camp director herself would put a chicken on her head every morning to greet the kids arriving. They try to have a drop off system in the morning and for the most part, it flows smoothly, but checkout can be a pain and disorganized depending on the camp leader for your group. The rest of the feedback is directly from my daughter. Overall she reported that the camp is cheesy and treated her like she's a little kid. They sit on the yard daily listening to long life lessons about how to treat others. Kiddo said these are things that should've been learned in kindergarten -- roasting in the hot blazing sun with no shade and sitting on rough concrete was something she hated doing every day. There were also some rude kids and depending on the camp leader, very little was done to correct their misbehavior. Some camp leaders seem inexperienced and camp was more like babysitting. Kiddo did like creating some of the projects. This Galileo is based out of Franklin elementary but none of the kids were allowed to play on the structure, which was really quite disappointing.
