Great service and competitive price to replace a windshield. I was able to afford my deductible.

They were very responsive. Their work was clean, quick, and done right. I would hire them again but I hope I never need to.

I've heard most times this recalibration is not needed, but if it turns out it IS needed, you'd have to take it somewhere else at a cost of $250-$700, or as much as $1,000 at a dealership! No thank you! Especially after the already expensive windshield! My tech was Kyle and, boy, was he sharp! When he arrived he told me it would take around an hour, I believe he finished the windshield installation, recalibration and cleanup in around 30 minutes - no small feat for my big Honda Odyssey on his own - and returned from the test drive in under 10 minutes. It was easy to pay with any type of credit card, even AmEx, and all told I think it was about 40 minutes. The owner, Steve, was a pleasure to talk to, as was Kyle, A couple of easygoing guys. I definitely made the right choice! And, if ever I have the need again, I will probably only be putting out a call for one quote ... from MasterTech.

I have been to this business twice, and when I went today I thought maybe last time was just off…read morefor them. It has to be better service today. No. It didn't have to be better and it wasn't. Didn't write the review before but am going to take my time with this. Hope I save others from my mistake. To me, everything about this place screams we get lots of insurance work and don't really have to do anything well. Or maybe they just overbook their services and make customers deal with it. The summary: - Poor communication (over-communication ahead of appt and yet give no details on key points) - Lack of dedicated people for customer take-in/service - Slowest interactions imaginable - All their ads talk about how they can come to you and yet, more and more cars have cameras & that has to be taken in. Let me give all the notes from this visit so you will see what I mean. Made the appt Friday when my insurance cleared the replacement -- scheduled for Monday afternoon. Am sure they have people flake on them, but they way overused texting for reminders. I got at least one a day and I had to confirm the confirmed appointment on the first text. They also called and sent three emails before the appointment. You would think they are trying to offer customer service but it just feels like overkill only to have no service minded person on site. I get there 10 minutes early for the appointment they said in all the comms would be 2.5-3 hours. Walk through all the intake and asked if the driver could drop me at the Starbucks a block away (didn't want to cross Page on foot cause folks be crazy). They said they can't and looked at me like I was insane for asking. I just asked another customer who Midwest Nice was happy to drop me. (5 star review for the strangers in the black Volvo who were so nice.) They said they had gotten a new windshield on Friday, Were back because the calibration of the computer camera and all didn't take. They were there for multiple hours both days. They made me really happy I didn't choose to wait in the really boring area or crummy folding chairs for the full afternoon. I enjoyed the time getting some lunch (separate review coming) They said they would provide updates. Car was dropped at 2 pm. Got the first "update" at 2:56 pm. At 2:58 they texted they were wrapping up and at 3:08 they texted it was complete. I thought I must be the luckiest person ever and headed back. Still, if they finished in 1 hour this time, why schedule 2.5-3 hours? A customer was waiting at the window when I came back. I stood behind him and waited. Finally asked about the wait & said good luck. No lie, we waited 15 minutes without anyone asking if they could help. Saw one guy who was helping someone else. Finally someone came and the guy who was standing in line said he had left just to quickly fill the gas tank (one text said they would need to drive the car to calibrate so bring the car 3/4 full - full of gas. No mention that it was so the weight was right). The person walked to the back and eventually came back and told the customer he'd have to come another day because his appt was at 3 and it was 3:30 now. He said it was his second time there. I absolutely wanted to say and I've been waiting behind him for 15-20 minutes so come on folks but I wanted my car so just stood there as he scheduled another appointment. (what about all that left over time from my appt too?) When he finally left, the person who had helped him was doing something and there was still one person "helping another client." I finally said can someone just get me my car? After a minute or two, one said excuse me? I said I just want to pick up my car. It is supposed to be ready. At this point they apologized and said they thought the other guy was helping me. I never saw that guy look up from the computer he was on. The quality of the work seems ok -- though it seemed the lane assist thing should have been on. I will add, I complained over the inundation of texts for this over the weekend and a friend replied she bet she'd just picked her car up from the same company. Also, they failed to replace her wiper blades despite he paying the added fees. (PS -- they offer cheaper prices for the wipers, etc in store than at the time of scheduling.) I will be looking for another service provider next time. The insurance company works through this shop directly but it gave me an option to use another provider. I will absolutely take that option next time and will be looking at yelp reviews to see.

A week later I had a window shipped in and I drove here to get it fixed. Seemed sketchy at first but i went in regardless. Setup an appointment to come back in an hour and have it done. Came back and my car was taken away for repair. I worried as the mechanic said "if I can't fix it YouTube will tell you everything you need". Not 20 minutes later the mechanic gave me my keys back and my window was replaced as if the break in never happened. Great service for a cheap price! Everywhere else I was getting price estimates over $500. Will most definitely return if I ever need a window fixed! Will recommend!

I came to Al's Auto Salvage on Lucas Hunt in January to get two of my car windshields replaced. As a person who's been to this location prior and has worked and been a trainer in the customer service field for 20 plus years, it is my pleasure to give a shout out to Nick and Al's Auto Salvage. Nick made my day and allowed my experience to be delightful. The smile on my face begun when I pulled into Al's Auto Salvage and Nick came out to my car and he made me feel like I was part of the Al's Auto Salvage family. Nick was warming, opening and welcoming. Nick then provided me with a step by step agenda of what was going to be done to both my cars. Nick then provided me with how long it would take to have my windshields replaced just in case I had other obligations. Nick also listened to my questions and feedback which showed me that he respects me, valued me and respected my time as a customer. Me and Nick had an open conversation while he was fixing my windshields. After completing the windshields, Nick asked for my return business which I told him I would do so along with recommending others. After a month, I forgot that I didn't get my new windshield wipers put on. I then went back to Al's Auto Salvage without a scheduled appointment. Nick saw me and got me right in. Nick put on my windshield wipers in less than 5 minutes and got me on my way. Because I think a good deed should not go unknown, I decided to bring Nick lunch and write this letter to show my appreciation. I ask and recommend that if you need a new or fixed windshield, please look at Al's Auto Salvage where the price is reasonable, and the service is exceptional. I would just recommend that the waiting on hold would be faster.

The lady took it back to be redone, but when I got the car home, I noticed problems on multiple windows. Update 2 - I went back for a second redo, this time on the front driver/passenger windows, rear trunk glass, and rear quarter windows. When I picked it up, I saw that the defrost lines on my rear glass had been scraped off. I was told it was "just bubbles" and they would go away, but if you search "broken defrost lines from window tint," you'll see exactly what mine looked like. I pointed this out immediately, but the staff brushed it off and told me to call them in a week if it was still an issue. It was very obvious, and I asked them to take pictures, but the lady didn't seem to care. They told me they had "gone over it thoroughly" this time, but clearly not thoroughly enough if no one noticed the missing defrost lines. After going back and forth, I ended up scheduling a replacement rear glass and re-tint. Update 3 - On my third visit, they replaced the trunk glass. I brought it home, only to find the trim on my right rear door was now cut up. Completely unacceptable, especially on a brand-new vehicle. At this point, after three visits and being told that multiple people including the managers "went over it with a fine-tooth comb," the workmanship is still sloppy. This is not the quality of work you'd expect for $625. If you're reading this, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else for tinting. There's no excuse for this kind of job on a new car.
