Safe Responsible Movers did a fantastic job from start to finish. Easy to book our move, they got back to us quick with estimate, and even got the city permit for us. They packed everything in the truck nicely, wrapping all our furniture that could be scratched in plastic or blankets. No damage! Used these guys today and all I can say is WOW. From the minute they showed up until the end they were nothing but professional. These guys certainly don't mess around, get right to work and don't stop until the job is done. This was the first time my wife and I used movers and couldn't have been happier with this experience. James and the moving crew were straight forward from start to finish and even gave tips on getting things done faster to save money. Used Safe Responsible Movers this weekend for a small (but tricky) move, swapping upstairs and downstairs apartments. I hate to piss on the party a little bit but I have to leave an honest review. Recently did a move with SRM. First I have to say that they guys really were cool guys. Friendly for sure, and around my age. I bet we even have some mutual friends. So I'll mention first, the good. They charge a competitive rate. Showed up right on time and immediately got to work as we explained what was being moved. They were attentive snd agreeable. When they got started they kept moving and got through a number of very big items quickly. They even waited to take a lunch break until after my place was fully packed.. And it took a long while. They were very accommodating of multiple stops that we wished to make to drop off items. They were careful with our priciest items as well and nothing was damaged in the move. Ok, now for the bad. And this is the big one..It was hot outside that day.... Very hot. They were happy to work through it, which was impressive, but lets just say... they were sweating profusely. Which obviously I understand, but you would think a professional mover would realize that maybe the client doesn't want your sweat on their stuff. This fact completely eluded all of them. I even dropped a strong hint and offered them a towel to wipe off but they refused and kept working. Now... If they wanted to keep working, you'd think they'd realize that maybe we should protect the client's items from our sweat. This also eluded them. They continued a feverish pace but didn't wrap a number of my furniture items (while for some reason did wrap others and only wrapped some because i stepped in and asked them to) and I proceeded to watch them drip their sweat all.. over... them. I'm talking large wet hand prints and wet spots, including on an expensive hardwood armoire and even on the inside of our dresser drawers, forcing us to spend extra time cleaning every item that wasn't wrapped when we already had tons of unpacking to do. Very disappointing. Next, they mispacked the truck, realizing one of the items didn't fit their truck only after the rest of the truck was already full. This meant we had to make two trips meaning extra cost for me, though they did waive the travel time in the final price. Finally, just a couple of unconscientious moves - when moving into the new address, I requested the items be left outside the room until I could clear and lay a drop cloth for the room ( where my young kids crawl around and it had recently been cleaned) but they went in anyway and tracked in dirt (it had rained that day too, and they also dripped sweat onto the floor too creating wet spots on the carpet). And they also took items wrapped in blankets from the dirty truck ride and threw them on my nice clean bed when they loaded them in! I know they were just trying to stay moving fast to save time and money, but that's just not cool (not to mention the mattress itself is custom and very very expensive). More care needed to be taken while they were trying to get through the job quickly. Ok, I think that covers everything! Additionally, Chris who was the contact person for the booking was very responsive and they were booked by us with only a couple of days to spare which was great. Overall, I liked the guys and the customer service. I wouldn't go so far as to discourage people from hiring them, but I probably won't be hiring them again due to the items I mentioned. read more

I would like to echo all of the reviews previously posted here as once again Yelpers did not let me down. The Safe Responsible Movers team were professional, efficient, and exceeded my high expectations. They took care of all of the details such as protecting my furniture with blankets and shrink wrap and when faced with an un-expected issue, they performed as a team to solve it. My sofa could not be maneuvered through a tight right-hand turn into my living room despite every effort. They refused to give up and rather than getting frustrated with the situation decided to hoist the sofa with straps through my 3rd floor window!! I found Chris and his gang on Yelp and decided to give them a try. He was very prompt in returning my emails and confirming a slot for our moving day. He and his gang arrived a little late on the day of the move, but he called to let me know. Although they smelled like they had just rolled out of a bar before July 2004 (sweat, alcohol AND smoke radiating from every pore), they were an incredibly responsible, friendly bunch. When our bike wouldn't fit in the back of the trunk, Chris actually volunteered to ride the bike to our new place! I would definitely recommend them and use them again. My husband and I had an excellent experience with Safe Responsible Movers. From the start, getting an accurate quote and scheduling the move was very easy. There were three movers who were courteous and professional. They were respectful of our belongings and brought along moving blankets and plastic wrap for our more fragile items. We moved from a 2-bedroom apartment to a single family house, located about an hour away. They completed the entire move, including travel time to the our new home in 3.5 hours, and came in under the original quote. These guys were awesome! They moved our 2 bedroom 1st floor apt to a 3 bedroom second floor walk up apt in 4 hours . They worked continously, no breaks even though we were their only job of the day. Rate was very good, definately much better than the larger companies and even som of the smaller local movers who quoted us much more for much less (packing supplies were included and there was a flat travel fee so no worried about traffic adding more to the bill). They were very careful with our stuff (haven't unpacked everything yet but if anything is broken its more likely due to our poor packing than their moving) Highly recommend. This was my first time using a moving company and it all went perfectly. I got a very decent quick quote when I contacted them. And I thought it might be more money, but it was not. They sent quite a large truck and three guys to move my stuff. I was kind of surprised because they were kind of thin but they sure can lift. When they arrived they asked what I wanted moved and I told them pretty much everything. They said I didn't need to stay around and so I didn't. I went to my new place and they followed with everything in about 1 hour. Then they unpacked within about an hour and 1/2. Then, the amount was just what I was quoted. If this is how movers work all the time I can't understand the horror stories. I guess what impressed me was that at the end of a move you haven't really looked at everything and you are just trying to figure out what is what... but one of the guys asked if I needed anything else... before leaving. I didn't but it is nice to be asked because it is annoying like when furniture or appliance people throw your delivery at you and then run off leaving you to try to adjust a very heavy item. It was nice to be asked. I would definitely use them again. Absolutely worth the money. read more

We hired them for the toughest part of a nasty move out; heavy boxes and and furniture from an attic with broken stairs, three big credenzas, lots of stuff from a moldy dusty attic with a bulkhead designed for small hobbits, basically a nightmare move. They got right to it, had plans to deal with every problem (the sign of true pros), were friendly, fast and fair. If I'm ever crazy enough to move again, these are the guys I'll call. Chris and Aaron have moved me twice and I could not be happier with the service they have provided. The first move was from Harvard Square to Brookline. Four flights of stairs on the first apartment and two on the second. They did a fantastic job and handled all of my belongings very 'safe and responsibly', especially considering it was SUPER hot and they had already finished a two jobs that day! The second move was from Brookline to Somerville, fewer stairs but more last minute. The guys were really accommodating and moved everything in about two hours. I have a lot of art work and fragile antique items which have been damaged or broken with moves in the past. Chris and Aaron have managed to move me twice with no damage to any of my things. In addition, they are always extremely friendly and easy to work with. I highly recommend using them next time you move. read more

Absolutely fabulous experience! The owner was a bit late for the initial estimate and was definitely more laid back than the other moving companies that I got quotes from; but he gave me the lowest quote, and then they came in very close at the end. The movers were very polite, efficient, extremely professional, and careful with our belongings. They took lots of furniture apart and put it back together again. We were actually kind of sad when they left, taking all their coolness with them and leaving us with a mountain of boxes to unpack! Fantastic experience moving with these guys!!! This was my first move with professional movers and from getting an estimate to the move itself everything was flawless. They arrived at 10am on the dot, as the previous reviewers mentioned these guys looked straight out of a band, Father John Misty?, they were super polite and extremely hard working. We were moving from a 2nd floor condo apt with an elevator to a 2nd floor walk up and had some really big and heavy and delicate pieces (huge projection TV, massive wood bureaus, sleeper sofa, boxes of stemware). They wrapped everything up and there was nary a ding or chipped glass once we were settled in. The move out took longer since they had to take apart a lot of furniture and wrap everything up but getting us into the new place took less than an hour. I was amazed considering the lifting involved getting the furniture up to the 2nd floor. We are moving again soon (this was a temporary move while we looked to buy a house) and I am going to call them again this week to book that move. We wouldn't think of going with any other movers. read more

Great, affordable movers. They were super quick and efficient- 3 guys had my entire 3 br home + basement packed up into our truck in under 4 hours. And we have a TON of stuff. They didn't rest for a minute. They were WAY cheaper than some of the other movers I looked at - only charging $75/hr for the three guys (we had our own truck)....Precision wanted $125/hr and charged for travel time! They were WONDERFUL! Arrived exactly at 9AM with a huge truck. Carefully unloaded my stuff from the old apartment and they were moving onto my new place by 10:15. Arrive at the new location, unloaded and they were done before 11:30. These guys made the move quick and painless. I was concerned about my new tv and they made sure to secure it in the truck really well. They are also really inexpensive.
