I waited four hours to have my windshield repaired at Safelite. After paying for the service and receiving my keys from the manager, I drove down the street and immediately noticed that my rearview mirror had been damaged. It was cracked at the top and covered in scratches. I pulled over to inspect the work further and noticed a large gap between the windshield and the plastic trim. The windshield had not been properly sealed or glued into place. I immediately returned to the store and showed the manager the issues. He seemed surprised, which was concerning. I don't understand how a manager would allow a vehicle to leave the premises without inspecting the completed work. More importantly, if there had been a problem during the repair, it should have been disclosed to me before I paid for a job that was clearly not completed correctly. This experience feels dishonest and has left me wondering if there may be additional damage to my vehicle that I have not yet discovered. The manager said he would order a replacement rearview mirror and correct the installation issues, but now I'm left waiting even longer to have my car properly repaired. After spending four hours there and leaving with more damage than when I arrived, I cannot recommend Safelite based on my experience. To make matters worse, I had to call customer service myself to find out that they cannot locate replacement parts for the damage they caused. The manager never contacted me to provide an update or explain the situation. In addition to damaging my rearview mirror, the technicians did not put the wiring back the way it was originally installed and left wires hanging out. They also left a large gap between the windshield and the exterior plastic trim at the bottom of the windshield. This gap can collect debris and water and raises concerns about the quality and safety of the installation. My Audi TT is a well-maintained, garage-kept vehicle that is only driven occasionally and has been carefully cared for. I trusted Safelite with my car and paid for a professional repair. Instead, I left with a damaged vehicle, an improperly installed windshield, and no clear resolution. After three windshields and a BS story about a rock strike when the windshield cracked at the frame while backing down my driveway, I decided to cut ties with these losers. All the wasted time (4 -5 hours each time) loose rear-view mirrors, lame excuses and paper shims I'm done. I went to Mobile Safe auto glass who had the job done in 2 1/2 hours. safelite takes 4 hours because they start working and stop to go chat it up with other workers, start working again, disappear, and come back. lazy workers, unknowledgeable people at the desk who always try and say it's not their fault, and bad customer service. And they use cheap glass vendors. Mobile Safe used a top-quality vendor and I could immediately see the clarity! Take a look at all the one star reviews and they all have something in common - crappy people and broken / damaged issues after they are finished. What an absolute disaster. They sent "Jake" to replace my windshield. First, this imbecile tells me that he is going to replace my windshield with one that has a crooked top. I asked him what/why that is being done - he said that he has to replace it, and the piece they gave him is crooked, so it's just going to have to be done with the crooked one so that he can register that the job was done. I was shocked. Then, after replacing it, he says everything lined up perfectly. He drove it around, brought it back, said it was recalibrated fine, and I got a certificate of recalibration. Then, I get in my car - and it smells like cigarette smoke. (And no, I don't smoke.) Next, he asks me to sign on his phone, and when I'm trying to press submit, he keeps dodging the phone from me. When I asked why he's not letting me submit my signature, he says "I'll be the one to do that". Finally, this imbecile then leaves. Then, as I'm driving off, hours after he had done the job, I get alerts all over my car that the front of my windshield is malfunctioning and the front camera is now disabled. Now, I have to re-schedule a recalibration, and no, I won't be coming to the Covina office. read more

I scheduled a mobile service appointment, but the technician arrived with the wrong driver's side window, meaning the repair couldn't even be completed. To make matters worse, the technician damaged both my vehicle's door and my front seat during the visit. I was then told the correct window would be in stock within three weeks. It's now been well over that timeframe, and I have yet to receive a single phone call or update from anyone at Safelite. The lack of communication, poor workmanship, and overall unprofessionalism have been extremely frustrating. Customers shouldn't have to chase a company for updates after their vehicle has been damaged during a service call. ABSOLUTE WORSE SERVICE IVE EVER EXPERIENCED... from the schedulers , to customer care, to the management at the Covina store!! I had an appointment scheduled for today 5/8 from 12-4, made on 5/4. All week getting text and emails to confirm today. Then 8am today I get a call that the appt was made for the wrong store . Customer care said it was routed to the correct store... Spoke with 7 different reps in customer care, hung up on by 2 , transferred around by 4 and 1 who sent an email to district manager but left me on hold for 20 minutes .... To top it off they tell me they tell me at 1230 they can come out at 7pm. A complete waste of time on the phone, complete s**t show and now I have to reschedule.... They got extremely hostile, started YELLING, and wouldn't let us speak when we were asking follow up questions on how to repair. Chris and his staff did all they could to repair the chip, but because of the location of the chip, it was unrepairable :( Called my insurance and filed a claim and brought the car back in to replace the whole windshield. I had the best experience with Safelite Covina. I first had my windshield replaced 6 months ago at the RC location, where they warned me that they had encountered an issue when fixing it but wouldn't give me any documentation explaining what happened. They charged me over $800 and just told me to keep an eye on it. 6 months later, I had a chip in the windshield, which turned into a full on 3 foot crack within 24 hours. I was panicked. Then this team, especially the manager Quidoles (or "Q"), made me feel validated in a way that RC failed to. Q recognized immediately that the crack was due to an error from when the RC team worked on it because the chip was on the inside of the glass, and that I was not at fault. Q made me go from stressed and nervous to completely relieved within minutes of meeting him. He was professional, knowledgeable, and kind. He contacted RC, who continued to be dismissive. Then he helped me set up a new appointment with Covina, made sure that the new replacement was covered under warranty, and put me at ease, assuring me that the window wouldn't break on me in the interim before my appointment (which was a huge fear of mine lol). The appointment itself took about 3 hours, and I was hooked up with a perfect new windshield free of charge. I was also advised of the warranty that comes with it, and emailed a copy of the Certificate of Recalibration, which I didn't even know was a thing. They tell you three hours and when your car is the only one of two in the whole shop with five people working and you ask them an update and they tell you it will be about four hours now maybe longer. This is unacceptable. Do not tell someone a time and then expand it far beyond that time. I can understand at most 30 mins but an hour and 30 mins is ridiculous. Then the staff is just laughing and three guys are just sitting around instead of helping out. One person working and three sitting around. Horrible business and I will not come back here. The worst part is I was sitting here the whole time and no one gave me an update to tell me it is taking longer. The manager came to talk to me and was not happy he saw the three workers sitting and not helping but it's too late at this point. Communication to your customers that it will take longer isn't hard. Wasted an entire day waiting around for them to show up. I contacted customer support and was ignored. I tried to reschedule hoping it would be expedited but that was a no. Although nobody wants to have to replace their windshield, SAFELITE made the whole ordeal easy. I filed a claim and used my auto insurance and only had to pay my deductible. I schedule my appointment through the website. Had many available time slots to choose from, received email confirmations immediately, as well as text messages. Also, I received a live-person phone call regarding my scheduled appointment, that was nice. Techs are in uniform and that is quite a professional look. Everything went smooth and was so easy! One thing to mention, being asthmatic and hypersensitive to scents, I could smell what I believed to be cigarette smoke, which was a bit uncomfortable and hurt my lungs to breathe. I did leave the building to seek out fresh air. I would suggest an air purification system in the waiting room and even an outdoor seating area for those who may have same type issues or who may just want to take in some free vitamin D. Not happy with safelite. Replaced subaru windshield but couldn't calibrate eyesight. He said if we came back in two weeks they could try a different windshield. We have a scheduled road trip this week. He said any safelight would try to fix the problem. We have had this done before at an independent windshield shop in ann arbor and they worked on it for two hours to calibrate eyesight and fixed it. He only worked on it for an hour and the guy ahead of us ended up with the same half assed fix. Just got back and they had it all day PS. We went to Timmons Subaru to see if they could help. They fixed the problem for an additional 230 dollars without changing the windshield. If a new crack materializes I will just go there to get it fixed. read more

Honestly, not bad. A rock cracked my windshield a couple months ago, and I finally just got it replaced. I went through my insurance and only had to pay my deductible. Initially, I didn't want to go through Safelite, seeing the not so great reviews on Yelp and Google but I'm glad I did because they did a great job. Once I opened up the claim with my insurance, the process for scheduling an appointment was easy. You can also use their online system to reschedule/cancel appointments. I arrived at my appointment 30 min early and they were able to start on it shortly after my arrival even though I was early. There's a small lobby area where you can wait and watch TV or watch them work on your car. I waited about 2 hours which wasn't too bad. I was told that it would take about 2-3 hours. They replaced my cracked windshield with OEM glass and recalibrated everything as well. I've been driving around with my new windshield for about a week now and so far so good I will say, though, I wish it was was easier to get ahold of a live person over the phone. I wanted to call to confirm that they were going to replace with OEM glass but it was so hard to get hold of an actual person. Their phone system is entirely automated and whatever option you choose, you'll just end up being redirected to their online portal. Super annoying. I called several times and called two different numbers as well but couldn't get ahold of anyone so gave up on that. I didn't know this but they do call you the day before your appointment to confirm your upcoming appointment with them. This was the only way I could confirm with them on whether or not my request for OEM glass went through. It didn't, but they were able to quickly correct it over the phone. This pushed my appointment back by one day since they needed time to get the glass but it wasn't a big deal. Overall, I had a good experience at this location. read more

Questionable "repair." Went in with a small windshield chip (star shaped) to get a repair. Insurance covers at no cost. Safelite tried at the shop (signage) and online to upsell wipers and other related services. Cost would've gone from $0 up to $159. I said no thank you. Tech saw windshield and said chip was small and should be no problem, but there was always a possibility. Back in the shop, he reminded me that chip could get worse and then asked me to sign a waiver stating that if chip turned into crack, Safelite would not be responsible. He stressed again that this was unlikely. 35 minutes later, surprise, surprise. Repair further damaged windshield and now it needs to be replaced. In hindsight, there appears to be an underlying financial incentive for an employee to put a little extra pressure on the window until ¡¡¡C-R-A-C-K!!! Not saying this is what happened, but I didn't feel comfortable from the onset of the interaction and there is no validation or check-n-balance in place to prevent this. (At least any that I'm aware of.) Now I have to wait a week to get the windshield replaced. 07/23/24 UPDATE Safelite replied today with what appears to be a canned blurb. They did not address my concerns and simply wrote that glass may break at a later time. They never did the work so there will be no other time. They also said they will credit the original repair cost against a replacement. Um, the charge to fix a chip is less than $150; a windshield replacement for my car is around $1,200 (per the employee) ... and this does not include calibration. Appalling; company didn't even take the time to truly review my concerns. At the very least, they should offset my deductible to make things right. Through my USAA insurance, Safelite repairs damages smaller than the size of a dollar bill. My husband had a rock chip in his windshield that was about the size of a dime. Our appointment window was scheduled from 8am-1pm on Monday. Our technician arrived a few minutes after 8am. Josh was extremely friendly and confident. He assured us that he would fix up the crack no problem and so he did! It only took a few minutes and the crack had been sealed and barely noticeable. If you care about your car, I would NEVER bring it here. The quality of work is absolutely horrible, and it appears they have many untrained professionals working here. Instead of unscrewing my centerpiece in order to place a new windshield glass, they entirely ripped it out. You can see that in the photos. Also, they are very messy. I have dirt marks all over the front of my car where you can tell they were working. I am so disappointed that I ever gave my money to them, and they did an absolutely horrible job and caused me weeks of stress while getting the center piece replaced. Do not go to them ever! We went in with the tiniest chip on our windshield and they cracked it even more rather than fixing it!! Now we have to get the entire windshield replaced for over $1000. They also made us sign a waiver beforehand so that they're not responsible at all for what happened. When I was calling around for a replacement other mechanics were surprised that they did that so it definitely sounds shady that they did that. I don't understand how it was even possible that they cracked it more given that the chip was smaller than 3 in and something so simple. What a nightmare of an experience. Safelite was one of them, and although the price wasn't the lowest, they could accept my insurance on their website, and all I had to pay was the $100 out-of-pocket deductible. I scheduled an appointment and got an email confirmation. They called a day before to remind and prepare me. I brought my car in, dropped it off, and returned it the same day. Unfortunately, the window broke, but Safelite helped make the event less painful, so I recommend their service to everyone. read more
