I would give zero stars if it was an option. It seems the manager has an issue with the truth. They…read morelied to me and told me my vehicle was blocking their dumpster. They lied to me and told me I had to sign for an estimate which was also not true. They told me they didn't have the keys and they did. They did nothing but keep my car for five days without a lick of progress towards any type of resolution and when I called the morning I showed up they told me they didn't have keys then either. When I showed up the keys were magically in my folder with the paperwork for the vehicle. The manager is a liar and just downright rude. Not worth anyone's time or effort to even call this place for any reason

I would never recommend Gerber Collision & Glass at **6000 Executive Blvd., Dayton, Ohio** based on…read moremy experience. My first interaction with this location was disappointing. I arrived for an estimate and, before anyone even greeted me, I heard the General Manager, Lisa Plemons, instruct the front desk receptionist from the back of the office to turn me away because several vehicles had already been accepted that day. I left without being helped and had to return another day before my vehicle was finally accepted for an estimate. My 2016 Nissan Maxima was repaired following a rear-end collision, and I was notified that **the repairs were complete and my vehicle was ready for pickup**. I planned to pick it up the following morning when the shop opened. Instead, I arrived to learn that my vehicle had been **stolen overnight while still in Gerber's custody**. What has been most frustrating is the lack of answers afterward. During meetings with management, I requested an incident report and was told one did not exist. I asked for surveillance footage from Gerber's property and was told there was none available. I also asked about Garage Keepers Insurance and was told that although coverage exists, it did not apply to my situation. Surveillance footage from a neighboring business reportedly showed the suspect spending time near Gerber's parking lot before entering my vehicle and driving away. That left me asking several questions that remain unanswered: * Why were completed customer vehicles left outside overnight without additional security? * Why wasn't there a fenced or gated storage area? * Why weren't customer vehicles monitored by Gerber's own surveillance system? * Why did I have to rely on another business's cameras to understand what happened? Losing your vehicle is stressful enough. Having it stolen after the repair shop tells you it's ready for pickup is something I never expected. I hope Gerber uses this incident as an opportunity to improve its security practices and communication with customers. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this location, and I will not be returning.

Mel's gives me an open ended time between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. I wasn't too fond of "be home all day" appointments but I didn't have a choice. The tech gets out here and starts on the windshield. A few minutes later he calls me outside. "Bad news," he says, "As we were pulling the new windshield out of the truck it cracked. That can happen sometimes and we will immediately rectify the situation." Okay, I get it. Don't know if it was human error or just a bad piece of glass. At this point I'm not angry. The tech proceeds to tell me, though, "I recommend we PGW glass, anyway. We were giving you XYZ glass (don't remember the name brand) this time, anyway." This made me raise my eyebrow because it seemed pretty clear that the "new" glass I was going to get wasn't the best quality to start with. I ask the tech, "Which glass is better?" "OH, PGW definitely. Seems to fit better and have better quality over all." "Okay," I said, "When you come back out please bring me PGW glass." (PGW glass is the name brand of the glass on the rest of our Toyota Sienna, too). Sounds good he tells me. Techs come back out a few days later. I naturally assume they've brought the right glass. They install the new glass and I come out to pay for it. SPOILER ALERT - the glass is NOT PGW glass! It's the same crap they brought the first time! The tech who came out this time (Mark I think was his name) was now pissed. "HE (first tech) didn't tell me *@#@ about PGW glass!" He proceeds to get angry and manages to drop the F-bomb. "I'm not angry with you" he tells me. He gets on the phone with the first tech and essentially starts a short argument with him. "You didn't tell me @*#$& about bringing PGW glass." I tell him, "come back out here AGAIN and do it right." Mel's comes out a THIRD time. THIS time it's the first tech. He apologizes profusely for the behavior of tech two (Mark?) and installs PGW glass. He knocks 60 bucks off the price of the glass. At this point this saga is over. Or so I thought. The next day I'm looking at the glass. The rubber molding at the bottom of the glass is completely separated from the windshield and flapping in the breeze. Mel's failed to re-secure the molding. I'm so disgusted at this point I don't even cal Mel's. I figure I'll fix it myself or bring it in elsewhere. A few months passed and I hadn't dealt with the rubber molding and, ironically, a rock pops up and chips the windshield on the freeway. This is (of course) is not Mel's fault but there's no way I'm calling these guys. I call Safelite. More on them in a second. Safelite tech, Jason, was awesome (see below). He tells me he can't fix the molding because Mel's didn't just fail to reattach it. They had TORN it. Now I'm mad. I call Mel's. The lady on the phone proceeds to try and tell me that Mel's has to REPLACE THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD again! It's CLEAR that this is not the case. The rubber molding EASILY comes off the van on its own. The safelite tech told me as such. "They don't need to replace this glass," he says, "Just the molding." I tell the Mel's lady this and she puts me on hold again. To make a long story short they have no scheduled me for a FOURTH VISIT to replace said molding without replacing the entire glass. Safelite had given me a time window, texeds me when their en route, gavem me a real time map update as to when the tech would be here, etc., Extremely professional. They even went above and beyond and changed my appointment type from "windshield replace" to "windshield repair" when I called the day of, apologizing, indicating that I was wrong and didn't need the windshield replaced - just fixed. Jason, the tech from safelite, was AWESOME. Extremely professional, nice, accommodating, and quick. He even gave me a discount on the repair because the promo code I used from the Safelite website technically didn't apply to repairs (just replacements) which was MY misunderstanding, not theirs. He felt bad with the nightmare Mel had created so he knocks $30.00 of the repair (which was $5.00 more than the promo code had even given me). DO NOT USE MEL's. NIGHTMARE, unprofessional, and if you want them to come out a half dozen times to address the issue - go for it. Terrible.
