Look NO further!!! In case you don't want to read, here's the summary: AFFORDABLE. FAST. FRIENDLY. PROFESSIONAL. FLAWLESS. -- I called Mr T's shop about a week before I got the windows on my Corolla tinted. I was quoted a very reasonable and fair price for all windows (not the windshield) over the phone. I talked to many different staff members over the phone each time I called to ask various questions. Each was professional, helpful, and friendly. Not to mention knowledgeable of the shop's procedures, pricing, and services. The day before my appointment, Mr T called and asked if I could bring my car in a day early, but I couldn't. They were overbooked. The shop was understanding and didn't try to shift around my appointment or anything like other shops might have. I took my car in at opening time (9 AM) and mentioned the ad on the website. Just a mere 3 hours later, my car was returned to the lot outside in the same condition as I handed it over. The only difference was, now, my beautiful 4 doors and rear window were tinted. Mr T called me and I went in. I initially expected I might have to argue because they would charge me more than the quoted price... however, they rang me up for the *same, affordable* price given over the phone. Mr T. gave me a small instructional paper that told me how to care for my new tint. He asked how I liked my tint, and I told him it was beautiful. He recommended their other services, including remote start which he gave an estimated price for. I'll definitely be going HERE if I decide to have that done. Again, if you want your car to look as stunning as mine, look no further than Mr T's Auto Craft, located conveniently in the heart of Downtown Dayton.

I paid Mr. T Autocraft to install a dashcam and backup battery, then a bit over a year later paid them once again to take it out. They did not; in fact chopping ends off of the wires used to ground, and tap into the fuse box of my vehicle. They also discarded or kept other non-necessary wires and connectors that were included in the box of my new battery backup. They left the fuse tap in the fuse panel instead of removing it as they should have. The fuse they tapped into was for the windshield wipers, and it came loose after they cut the end of the wire, which caused the windshield wipers to quit working intermittently a few days later as I was driving in heavy rain on I-70. It is only luck that I thought to check the fuse box and found out the cause. If I would have taken the car to the dealer to check the windshield wipers I am sure they would have charged a diagnostic fee to fix the problem, that is if I was not in the hospital or worse due to Mr. T negligence in failing to remove the fuse tap properly. I sued Mr. T in small claims, and although I was awarded a small amount to cover the wires/connectors that Mr. T either kept or thew away, I was not awarded a partial or full refund for the install. I respectfully disagree with the magistrate who decided that even though Mr. T had left wires in my car and fuse box, this was somehow "proper" and compliant with industry standards. I disagree as I think that any reasonable person would consider this to be an incomplete, and careless uninstall of wiring. I am posing pictures of how I found this in my fuse box, and the public can decide if you agree with me. The installers and owner, I think his name is Jim, were very arrogant, rude and condescending in my dealings with them, and the owner bragged in court the Mr. T had been in business for over 50 years and does not need to advertise because they don't have to. I also had gone to Mr. T initially as they had a great reputation, but I have since read reviews that state otherwise, and at least one stated that their quality of work and customer service had gone downhill ever since Jim became the new owner. It is my opinion that Mr. T customer service is poor, attitude towards customer's concerns and safety is non-existent once they have your money, and at least in my case and in my opinion, the work is incompetent. Perhaps the public can decide if Mr. T is deserving of having a great "word of mouth" reputation. As far as I am concerned, they do not and I urge others to seek tint and electronics installation elsewhere.

Terribly disappointing experience with Safelite from start to finish. I initially brought my SUV in…read moreon Monday for what was supposed to be a simple windshield crack repair, as directed by my insurance company with a $0 deductible. Within minutes, I was told that while attempting the repair, the crack spread further and the windshield now needed to be fully replaced resulting in a $500 deductible for me. While I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, the situation immediately felt questionable. After waiting for the replacement windshield to arrive, I returned yesterday to have it installed. When I came to pick up my vehicle, my husband immediately noticed damage on the top of the SUV that was not there beforehand. The original crack was located on the lower left side near the VIN number, nowhere near the damaged area. The night before the appointment, my husband, a friend, and her husband had all closely examined the windshield while I was sharing the situation with them, so we are absolutely certain the damage did not exist prior to service. At first, my husband thought the mark might simply be adhesive residue from the repair, but after rubbing it, it became clear the vehicle had been scuffed/damaged. What was most frustrating was the complete lack of accountability from the staff. One employee mentioned he had taken a video of the scuff, but by that point the damage had already occurred. Rather than addressing the issue professionally, the interaction felt dismissive and defensive. I am extremely disappointed with how this entire situation was handled and will not be using Safelite again. I strongly encourage anyone bringing their vehicle in for service to thoroughly photograph and video their car beforehand to protect themselves in case damage occurs during the repair process.

Mel's gives me an open ended time between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. I wasn't too fond of "be home all day" appointments but I didn't have a choice. The tech gets out here and starts on the windshield. A few minutes later he calls me outside. "Bad news," he says, "As we were pulling the new windshield out of the truck it cracked. That can happen sometimes and we will immediately rectify the situation." Okay, I get it. Don't know if it was human error or just a bad piece of glass. At this point I'm not angry. The tech proceeds to tell me, though, "I recommend we PGW glass, anyway. We were giving you XYZ glass (don't remember the name brand) this time, anyway." This made me raise my eyebrow because it seemed pretty clear that the "new" glass I was going to get wasn't the best quality to start with. I ask the tech, "Which glass is better?" "OH, PGW definitely. Seems to fit better and have better quality over all." "Okay," I said, "When you come back out please bring me PGW glass." (PGW glass is the name brand of the glass on the rest of our Toyota Sienna, too). Sounds good he tells me. Techs come back out a few days later. I naturally assume they've brought the right glass. They install the new glass and I come out to pay for it. SPOILER ALERT - the glass is NOT PGW glass! It's the same crap they brought the first time! The tech who came out this time (Mark I think was his name) was now pissed. "HE (first tech) didn't tell me *@#@ about PGW glass!" He proceeds to get angry and manages to drop the F-bomb. "I'm not angry with you" he tells me. He gets on the phone with the first tech and essentially starts a short argument with him. "You didn't tell me @*#$& about bringing PGW glass." I tell him, "come back out here AGAIN and do it right." Mel's comes out a THIRD time. THIS time it's the first tech. He apologizes profusely for the behavior of tech two (Mark?) and installs PGW glass. He knocks 60 bucks off the price of the glass. At this point this saga is over. Or so I thought. The next day I'm looking at the glass. The rubber molding at the bottom of the glass is completely separated from the windshield and flapping in the breeze. Mel's failed to re-secure the molding. I'm so disgusted at this point I don't even cal Mel's. I figure I'll fix it myself or bring it in elsewhere. A few months passed and I hadn't dealt with the rubber molding and, ironically, a rock pops up and chips the windshield on the freeway. This is (of course) is not Mel's fault but there's no way I'm calling these guys. I call Safelite. More on them in a second. Safelite tech, Jason, was awesome (see below). He tells me he can't fix the molding because Mel's didn't just fail to reattach it. They had TORN it. Now I'm mad. I call Mel's. The lady on the phone proceeds to try and tell me that Mel's has to REPLACE THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD again! It's CLEAR that this is not the case. The rubber molding EASILY comes off the van on its own. The safelite tech told me as such. "They don't need to replace this glass," he says, "Just the molding." I tell the Mel's lady this and she puts me on hold again. To make a long story short they have no scheduled me for a FOURTH VISIT to replace said molding without replacing the entire glass. Safelite had given me a time window, texeds me when their en route, gavem me a real time map update as to when the tech would be here, etc., Extremely professional. They even went above and beyond and changed my appointment type from "windshield replace" to "windshield repair" when I called the day of, apologizing, indicating that I was wrong and didn't need the windshield replaced - just fixed. Jason, the tech from safelite, was AWESOME. Extremely professional, nice, accommodating, and quick. He even gave me a discount on the repair because the promo code I used from the Safelite website technically didn't apply to repairs (just replacements) which was MY misunderstanding, not theirs. He felt bad with the nightmare Mel had created so he knocks $30.00 of the repair (which was $5.00 more than the promo code had even given me). DO NOT USE MEL's. NIGHTMARE, unprofessional, and if you want them to come out a half dozen times to address the issue - go for it. Terrible.
