While working on a job in McAllen Texas I got a crack in my windshield from road debris as most people do. I was hesitant to use Safelite at this location due to their reviews but went ahead anyway since it was covered by my insurance. They did a great job with my repair and were done within about 20 minutes from start to finish. The crack is still somewhat noticeable but I expected that due to the size and shape. I am happy with the work and sorry to hear about other people's bad experiences but I would recommend them to others. read more

I am writing to formally dispute the denial of my lifetime warranty claim following a faulty windshield installation at your McAllen, TX location (3620 N 23rd St). The windshield installed on my truck leaked water the causing some damage to my speaker system. To prevent further damage, I applied a small amount of regular glue to seal the leak temporarily. The next day, I returned to the facility during my lunch break to request a proper fix under the lifetime warranty. I was told by CSR John Manning and Manager Sam Martinez that my warranty was voided due to the glue application -- despite the fact that the glue was only used to mitigate the consequences of their poor installation. I also contacted Safelite's corporate office, but was again told that I had voided the warranty. This response is unacceptable. It implies that customers must allow water to damage their vehicle in order to preserve warranty coverage -- a position that is unreasonable and unfair. I am requesting: A full reinstallation of the windshield at no cost Inspection and repair of any water damage caused by the faulty installation Written clarification of your warranty policy regarding emergency mitigation actions taken by customers This situation has cost me time, money, and unnecessary stress. I trusted Safelite's reputation and warranty promise, and I expect accountability for the workmanship provided. read more

Safelite Glass repair Mc Callen Yesterday, the passenger side front glass exploded out of the window. I immediately called my insurance company, who guided me to Safelite. My deductible is $495.00, and the price Safelite showed without taxes, was $388.80. Surprise! There is a $39.99 recycling fee for the glass. We have already cleaned up 80% of the glass at least. I am sure there is some stuck on the door panel, but it can not be much. When I asked the technician, Alex (who is a really nice guy and great tech), he said it was a fee negotiated with the insurance company. If I wanted to do it without the insurance negotiated price, it would be more. I went online to Safelite, put all my info in, and it came up the same price. Including the recycling fee. No negotiated discount. I then called Juan, the McAllen Safelite manager. He told me the same thing Alex told me.Alex was just repeating what he had been told. I shared that was incorrect info as I had done my homework and knew what the price was. He did not say one word. I asked him to remove the recycling fee as there was not anything to recycle. He then said that it was for vacuuming the glass out between the door panels. This is a deceptive practice. First, I am told it is a negotiated price, then I find out that is not true. I am also going to send this information to the better business bureau. I understand a recycling fee if there is something to recycle. I am going to share this review as many places as I can. I thought I was being proactive repairing a tiny chip in the windshield on my brand new vehicle. It was only a tiny dark spot and barely noticeable if I hadn't heard it happen. They cracked my windshield and claimed it's not under warranty as "the windshield must have been already compromised." Total BS. I have had much worse repaired for years in both Massachusetts and during my seven years here in TX. read more

Made appointment on Friday and windshield was replaced on Monday for my 2017 Porsche Macan. Every thing reconnected correctly by a certified tech. All sensors working properly and provided certificate of calibration. If you need glass repaired or replaced, come here. However there doors are locked 12 to 1 for lunch! read more

Totally, disappointed with The Safelite located at 3620 N 23rd St, McAllen, TX 78501. I do not recommend them. My insurance will have to review it's current recommendations (I will let them know). The front windshield needed to be replaced.As the text message mentioned I was "on the books for 12/30/24. I dropped off the car before 9:30 am as suggested and gave the keys to the lady at the desk. She verified my information and informed me that it would be done by 5 pm. I took an Uber back home. At around 4 pm I gave them a call for an update. I was informed that I could come and pick it up by 4:45pm that it should be finished. Took another Uber back to the location to find out that the car had not moved and no work was done because they didn't have the time. ?? I was told that it would have been better to make a specific appointment instead of leaving it there ?? 1) They couldn't take time to do the work, 2) misinformed me on the phone when it was nearly time to close 3)and ended up giving me some b.s answers for their defense. My conclusion and suggestion don't waste your time with an UNPROFESSIONAL team. read more

It's impossible to speak with a customer service representative because their system is completely automated and no matter how hard you try to get connected with a live person it won't allow you. STAY AWAY FROM SAFELITE...The Safelite located at 3620 N 23rd St, McAllen, TX 78501 was the worst experience I have ever had. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. My insurance company sent me to them because they are the preferred shop for all glass repairs. I took in my Porsche Cayenne for a full windshield replacement and the tech left my car on accessory mode during the whole process and killed my battery. They didn't have any cables or any kind of charging device, so I had to call a local mechanic who came and charged me $80 to jump my car. When he got there, he said I would need to drive the car around for 2 hours for the battery to charge. After the 2 hour drive I went home. When I went to go out again, my car wouldn't start anymore. I had to get my car towed back to EUROSTAR AUTO WERKS so the mechanic can find out what the problem was. He told me that Safelite did not calibrate my windshield for starters. Then he told me that the batter was completely drained and no good anymore. I called the Porsche dealership to order another battery which cost me $1400 and then the mechanic charged me another $900 for installation, programming of the battery, and calibration of the windshield. I spoke to the manager of Safelite for reimbursement because the tech fully admitted to leaving my car on and killing my battery, but he was told that the company was not going to pay for anything...the only thing they did was not charge my insurance for the windshield calibration. THAT SHOP COST ME $2300 ON TOP OF MY $501 INSURANCE DEDUCTABLE. I will never go there again for anything, nor do I recommend anyone else to. I'm sure there were 2 other people who were going to be putting complaints that were there at the same time I was. read more

Very impressed with the service here in the McAllen location. We had one windshield repaired in Houston and it does not compare to the repair work and customer service provided at the McAllen location. Pablo was awesome he gave us up to the minute work status and his customer service skill is on point. The work he did is impeccable we could hardly tell their was previous window damage. My only regret is not getting the first repair done at this location. read more

I have made appointment twice online with Safelite to replace my cracked windshield. Each time I have provided the correct VIN number and each time they have received the wrong windshield. I even called Safelite the day before the 2nd appointment to confirm they would receive the correct windshield and was told they would. I arrived at 8am and they opened late at 810am. read more

I've used Safelite services in San Antonio and Houston and they never fail, they are always on time and very professionals. I moved to Mcallen and the service is very bad. I cannot get a true appointment, they just tell me they can see you between 8-5 pm.( that's not a true appt). Safelite services in Mcallen area is Very bad. read more

Can in here today after being referred by USAA for fixing a chip in my windshield. Was told it'd be about 45 minutes but it was closer to an hour. They did a great job though; so much that the chip is barely noticeable. We even had a hard time finding it when we went to inspect it afterwards. No complaints. read more

Had the windshield of couple of my cars replaced here over the years and they have always provided me with excellent on time service. I've never had an issue with any of the work that they have performed and the staff is very professional and explain the process every time. A little pricey but I would take that for their nationwide coverage and great service. read more
