I had my windshield replaced awhile ago now. My car was not even a year old and got a crack near the rear view mirror. I had used Safelite in the past, and that was what my insurance company recommended, but I was surprised when I looked online and saw all the negative reviews. I was a little worried about it, but I used them anyway. It's so convenient since they will come to your job or your house. I was concerned about the windshield looking the same way since it was a new car and I wanted it to look like it was supposed to. I called them, and they pick the correct windshield for your car, with the correct frit. Yes frit. I found out those little black dots on your windshield have a name, lol. Mine has a lot of frit at the top, and the replacement they put on does, as well. I could see my car my from office window, so I came down and met the tech when he came, he worked on my car, and then I came down again when it was done. That was it. It was easy on my part, and you wouldn't even know I had a new windshield put on by looking at it. I'd use them again without hesitation. read more

On 3rd rescheduling and they just called with more BS excuses wanting to reschedule again. First. Rescheduling, the excuse was, they needed 2 techs and one wasn't available. The 2nd rescheduling was the tech that they assigned to the job is suspended. And the 3rd rescheduling the tech is on his way to the job and gets pulled over and the vans no longer allowed to be driven on the road. What kind of ass backwards company are you Safelite? Holy crap! What a joke. EVERY RESCHEDULING LOST ME MONEY! Not even worth it. Go with anybody, any other company other than these clowns. read more

My first appointment was cancelled by phone message because the replacement had a flaw. Two days later the installer put a windshield in with an obvious chip and some hazing. (He didn't say a word to me.) He also made other obvious mistakes leaving the cowling open and other trim loose. I called the tech and he said his manager would contact me. This didn't happen because he never reported my complaint. I studied the cowling issue and found that GM had a fitment problem, many owners complained that the lower cowling was flawed. The manager said a replacement part was unavailable, but my Chevy dealer had it available overnight. Just lies, bad workmanship and installation of a damaged windshield. Horrible customer service, unapologetic and irresponsible attitudes. This Safelite location damaged paint around the windshield with some sort of pry bar, did a sloppy perimeter gasket install, damaged the cowl on one side, and never reinstalled the 7 cowl retainer clips under the hood. Had another appointment to have these things fixed but Kevin the manager decided it was more important to be unprofessional and argumentative about the entire situation, so I didn't have them fix their mistakes and I left with a damaged car caused by incompetent unprofessional windshield replacement hackers. read more

Worst company ever. Contacted in December to replace a windshield. After three visits onsite they again showed up with the wrong windshield. Managers fail to respond. Kevin was supposed to call on several different occasions with no response. After 4 attempts and two months the insurance company moved the install to another provider. I had one of those annoying chips in the center of my my windshield from a tractor trailer and my insurance hooked me up with Safelite. Christopher did a fantastic job! Kept me informed of his arrival time at my office, explained the process and the likely duration and took a couple minutes to just chat. The windshield is better than new and he managed to transfer the registration, inspection and E-ZPass (more aligned than they had been) and left the cabin a little cleaner than it was when he started. Worst. Company. Ever. Couldn't come to my house, so I had to go there, of course. Then they break my trim pieces so they fly off when I am driving. Then there is NO PHONE NUMBER, NO ONE TO SPEAK TO, NO MANAGERS, AND NO WAY TO FIND OUT WHAT TO DO! I had to drive to the store, track someone down, show them my broken car, and they "filed a damage report." They just don't care, or give two SH*&% about you or your life. I have to WEEKLY go drive to the actual garage and ask a tech if they know anything about the status of my broken parts showing up. It has been months, and I have revisited the garage 3 times to check in on the status. It is mind boggling how this company still operates, and that people continue to use them. Complete garbage business platform, with no structure. I just hope and pray, that some young motivated individual starts a legitimate company and absolutely decimates this clown show. I wish I had the time and energy because I would relish in the opportunity to put these derelicts out of business. Please do not use them. I had a really wonderful experience working with Safelite after my car was broken into. They were able to squeeze me in between appointments to crash wrap my window to hold me over until I could get in. They scheduled me for an appointment within 2 days. My windshield on my Buick Encore was badly cracked. It took two weeks to get an appointment. The person on the phone said they would have to come with a special tool for calibration. He came to my house, installed the new windshield and then told me he didn't have the correct calibration tool and the office would call tomorrow, because he didn't show up until 4:30, to schedule him to come back. No one called the next day. I tried calling the Safelite customer service. There is only a very annoying automated service. I texted and emailed and still didn't get a phone call for a week. The service was finally scheduled another week after that. He came and fixed it 4 weeks after I had originally called. $500 was the amount I was charged because that was my insurance deductible. I think this place does not have good customer service and not a good value. read more

My husband worked last night. Was told driver would be here between 8-noon. Waited and waited and waited and waited. Called at 12:30- no response from driver and they Said they left message with driver to call us. Called again 1:25-- they finally got a hold of the driver. said driver had a bad "connection" but broke our windshield by accident. We now have to run illegal in a semi truck for we have jobs lined up. It would of been nice if we got a call to tell us and we did not have to be the one calling and waiting. wasting our day. Worst customer service. Scheduled an appointment 2 weeks out to fix cracked windshield. Was notified over a weekend 4 days before my appointment they would need to rescheduled because my insurance had not approved the claim but assured me they had the windshield I needed. I asked them to not reschedule and I would contact my insurance on Monday. Was then contacted on Monday and told they received the approval but would now need to reschedule because the truck delivering the part from warehouse was delayed, again assured they had the windshield at that warehouse. So I rescheduled for a week later per the suggestion of the woman who contacted me. On Tuesday (the day after this phone call) a different woman contacted me and said they didn't have my windshield and would have to order an after market one and get two different approvals from insurance. The second woman I talked to was very rude and unhelpful. It would appear no one knows what they are doing there. I had a chip in the windshield repaired 2 days ago. They did a great job. They offered to change my wipers, which they did. Today used them fist time and they need adjustment because the driver's side doesn't wipe properly. I have tried to call them to get this fixed. Finding the Holy Grail is easier than finding their phone number. Automated answering system keeps sending me to the central website in Ohio to get a quote for a broken windshield, with no option to talk to a real person. This makes for very poor customer service. Stay away. Three visits and they still have not done the job properly. Visit 1: I brought my car in for replacement windshield after I had developed a crack in the original. Should be easy enough, but: 1. They replaced it with an aftermarket windshield so that calibration was not done properly. I all of the sudden had two warning lights (auto headlights and blind spot monitor system). 2. The weather stripping on the sides of the windshield was not replaced properly and both flew off on the expressway. Visit 2: They were supposed to replace the aftermarket with an OEM windshield. I arrive and wait at the Safelite location for 90 minutes - only to have the service tech come in and tell me that they had ordered the wrong windshield and I would need to come back AGAIN. Visit 3: They replace the aftermarket with the OEM windshield, put the weather stripping back on (hopefully correctly this time), BUT they now say the fact that the two warning lights (that only came on after the first time they worked on the car have nothing to do with re-calibration and that its not their problem. Please spare yourself this experience and take your car elsewhere - and if your insurance company uses only Safelite, tell them you want the work done elsewhere. read more

My wife's car was hit by debris from a dump truck on the highway. Fortunately, no one was injured, but her windshield was cracked. Safelight Auto Glass came to our house and replaced the windshield the next day! They transferred the windshield stickers from the old one to the new one. Workmanship was excellent. My father had and continues to have a CRAPPY experience with Safelite Autoglass on Jefferson Rd in Rochester, NY. He's been there several times (3), working on a 4th to have his windshield repaired. He's been advised that the crack in the window has been taken care of, only for it to come back within the SAME day. Would not recommend!!!!! DO NOT use this company. I am absolutely furious right now. Safelite it not to be trusted. Because of their complete incompetence the small chip in my windshield turned into a full crack and now I need to find someone to replace it. On the morning of Jan 20th, another vehicle kicked a stone up and into my windshield, chipping it. I immediately called my insurance carrier as I have full glass coverage. We set up an appointment with Safelite for the 23rd. I waited at home for 3 hours and they never showed. They were supposed to be at my home by 10:30, but I could not wait any longer as I had to be at work, so I called and rescheduled for the following week Jan 28. The day before my rescheduled appointment they called to cancel because they were concerned about the weather forecast. Not the actual weather that day, as it turned out the weather was negligible. There was no reason why my windshield could not be fixed that day. When I spoke to them I explained my concern that the chip was starting to crack and that if it were not fixed soon, it may need to be replaced. They still refused to honor my appointment and it was rescheduled again. They were set to come out on Jan 30th, a full 10 days after I first reported the issue to my insurance carrier. As it was, what I predicted would happen, did happen, on the morning of the 29th. That chip, about the size of a penny and turned into an 8 inch crack. We called and reported the change and Safelite decided to reschedule my appointment for the 3rd time, as they now had to fully replaced the windshield rather than repair the chip. So they finally showed up on the 31st, only to tell us that they could not fix the windshield. They said that it appeared that the windshield had be replaced by a previous owner and that there was visual rust and therefor they could not replace the windshield. So now I am working with my insurance carrier and checking other glass and collision repair shops to find someone that can fix this problem. And my insurance carrier is telling me that they can cover the glass repair, but any other repair needed to that area would not be covered. The ONLY reason I need my windshield repaired is because Safelite dropped the ball, twice and refused to come out and fix what would have been a simple patch. If they had done their job in a timely manner then the windshield never would have cracked and I would not be in the predicament that I am in now. read more

Round 1: I used this company in the past but I probably wont again. In the last 2 weeks I've had 3 technicians. The first guy came out with a buddy i'm guessing cause he wasn't wearing a Safelite uniform and just stood there talking the whole time to the other guy. After he left I noticed my windshield was dirty and the weather strip was peeling off. Then upon driving down the road the next day the strip came completely off and smacked my window. So I had to drive around a few days with it rolled up in my window so it wouldn't fly everywhere. Round 2: Second guy comes and does his thing then knocks on the door to tell me he cracked the glass but informs me I can still drive around like that. When I say cracked I mean 6 long hairline deep cracks going from top to bottom over the drivers side. Never mind you thats not acceptable..its also illegal in NYS. Then proceeds to tell me I have to wait 2 days until they can replace it cause there are no windshields in the warehouse for my car. Then I get a call saying someone will be out shortly, then a text saying they were sorry to hear I cancelled my appointment on the 22nd? Round 3: Guy comes out does what he needs to do for windshield then tells me the rearview mirror broke off cause the guy before broke it and glued it to the windshield which he informed this guy by phone call to let him know that so this guy could re-glue it but he couldn't cause the whole part that you glue was missing. He had it glued with two little dots on the sides. He then proceeds to tell me it's ok to not have one for a few days while they order a new one because you only need two. Whaaaaaaa? No sir in NYS you have to have a rearview mirror. This whole ordeal started on February 7th. Called this location this morning and all I hear are sorry's. Well sorry doesn't cut it. Called corporate and they basically said they were so sorry and would document it. My main reason for calling was to let them know this kind of service is unacceptable but in general they should know that shouldn't they? I've dealt with Safelite in the past and had no prior negative experiences. I work for a company that has a corporate account. Never had issues until this time. Usually i set appointments up online and then call to have the account information added. Saves the company a few hundred dollars that way. At least that was in the past. This time my price went up almost 300 dollars from the original quote.... Just because of adding a corporate account. I questioned this and was not able to get any legitimate reason except "we have no idea". They told me someone would contact me regarding this issue and i never heard back from them. Went to another company and ended up paying half of what the ORIGINAL quote was for. Not sure I will ever use Safelite again. read more

Terrible experience, do not recommend. Safelight checked me in for my appointment and tore half the molding off around my windshield adding NINE more cracks to my window on the drivers side in the process - only to then find rust and refuse to replace the windshield. The worker told me that I needed to find a place that did not follow federal guidelines and then sent me away. So I left with my car in much worse condition than when I arrived. (And to be fair, the worker was very nice when he checked me in, but then was dismissive after wrecking my car). I have an appointment with Mr. Glass later this week and already they have better customer service and are much cheaper. read more

It was kind of a love/hate relationship - great service, but took a loooongggg time. My husband got a huge crack in his windshield, so we looked up prices for various places and settled on Safelite. They were scheduled to replace the windshield at my husband's workplace, but cancelled due to snow flurries because there wasn't covered parking. We rescheduled for a few days later. The worker was at our house for over three hours trying to replace the windshield. Unfortunately, he was sent to our house with a defective windshield. His torch also stopped working so he couldn't get the stickers off of the windshield and ended up ripping the inspection sticker. He was extremely nice, apologetic, focused, and amazing for working in the garage in 17-degree weather. The following week, we made an appointment at the Safelite location and the windshield was successfully replaced. While the process took longer than we thought, the technicians were really nice and the windshield is fixed! read more

We had our windshield replaced a couple of weeks ago at Safelite AutoGlass in Henrietta, NY. The entire job was a great experience from start to finish. They explained everything we asked about very well. The registration and inspection stickers were replaced on the new windshield very neatly as well as the EZpass transponder.
