Everyone at this location was so kind, attentive and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and okay while waiting for my car. I expected the service to take a very long time and brought work to do while there and they exceeded my expectations. I was waiting for less than an hour and a half! Way quicker than expected, especially considering the amount of customers coming and going while there. One of the amazing workers even came to talk to me and update me! Overall, the customer service was great even after a small hiccup with a typo in my phone number and me being forgetful to check back. They worked hard to make sure I left happy and with a quality fixed windshield. I am sure I gave them a headache but they never made it feel that way! Highly unprofessional! I had an appointment scheduled for them to come to my house to fix my cracked windshield and the back window as well. They told me they'd be there between eight and 12. At 11 AM, The technician called me saying they got the wrong glass delivered for the back window. He went back and forth calling me about four different times with excuses and changing the story. Why was the technician calling me and not the store manager or supervisor? Made no sense to me. He told me so many different scenarios. My head was spinning. In the end, they couldn't do the job on the day that I took off work to get it done. They explained they couldn't do it at my house as well, that I needed to come into the shop which was far from my home and it would be hours to have them both done. I called the store. There was no manager available. I called customer service at Safelite corporate headquarters And they were no help at all. Stay away from this place. You'll just be frustrated, annoyed and angry. A complete waste of time and wasted taking a day off for nothing! I've seen quite a few other bad reviews after the fact..Go elsewhere! read more

I rarely take time to put together a review, but I have never experienced something this unprofessional before. My experience started when I made an appointment for a mobile repair for my windshield. They booked my appointment, I cleared my schedule, and a few days later, I got a voicemail that the windshield wasn't in. It would have been nice if they confirmed availability or at least gave me a heads up that it "might" need to be rescheduled, so I could make alternate plans, but alas, they couldn't be bothered to check. On the day of the reschedule, I get a call from the tech that he is 5 minutes out. Besides his name, I didn't get that photo or employee info that is constantly referenced in the commercial. This left me leery, but let's be honest, the workforce isn't what it used to be, and I let that go too.....I was about to see just how bad it's gotten. On the phone, he confirmed that he didn't need anything from me, and I informed him, "well, if you do, just knock; we are home." At this time, I proceeded to my basement to start on some work. I don't have cell service down there, hence why I said to knock. I can hear somebody knock through the floor without issue, we also have a dog that will let us know somebody is at the door..AND MY WIFE IS IN THE ROOM WHERE THE DOOR IS. Needless to say, we know when somebodies at the door. After an hour or so, I went to see if the tech (his name was Frank) was finished, and I quickly realized the windshield WASN'T repaired . At this point my service was restored and a text came through asking if he could move the car to the shade. HE DIDN'T HEAR BACK, SO HE WALKED OFF THE JOB. Infuriated, I called the dispatch location in St. James, NY. After my concerns were met with rudeness, I asked the manager twice for his name at which point HE HUNG UP ON ME. Turning to the corporate helpline, I was able to speak with a manager, Ivan. During our phone call Frank the tech, called me back, after being unresponsive to my phone calls and numerous text messages. As the timing was perfect, I conferenced Frank and Ivan to have a chat. He stated that he knocked however, if he did, he would have noticed our camera, which we played back and confirmed was A BLATANT LIE. This was no more than a case of a lazy employee trying to get out of working on a hot day. When I demanded that he come back and complete the work that we had scheduled, he said that "he didn't feel comfortable coming back," TO WHICH CORPORATE BACKED HIM. Imagine telling your boss that you didn't feel comfortable doing your job, so you weren't going to? Corporate confirmed that they couldn't force him to, despite not being able to cite any reason for this. Mind you, at this point we haven't even had an in-person interaction and our only conversations beyond the initial "I'm here" were with another Safelight employee listening. It gets better..... I said, "fine, we're getting ready to leave, that car will be there, and we won't even be home. Please get it done today; I won't be able to take a third day off for this." When we got home, the car was once again unrepaired. Poor Service overall, and absolutely horrible customer service. Wholly unprofessional and their policies only allow for more unprofessionalism. That is the last experience that I will ever have with Safelite. The very next morning, I found a local company who quickly booked an appointment to come out. When I explained the story to them, they laughed and said "it'll be either the owner or his son coming, and they need to work to get paid." Before you dial Safelite because you merely remembered the jingle, do a quick Google search for a "local auto glass company." Nearly all of them offer the same roadside service. If you are paying through Auto Insurance, you don't even need to compare costs. It looks like two things are getting replaced this week my windshield, and my auto glass company. read more

Left garbage in my car. Dirty used paper towels I'm assuming they used to wipe down the windshield. Along with a bunch of broken white plastic clips everywhere. It's been less that 2 weeks since they replaced my windshield and it's already cracking. Also, don't think you're talking to a actual person when you call satellite. If you find yourself traveling down Middle Country Road in Nesconset only to have a rock kicked up at you, chipping your windshield, and by the grace of God find yourself to be the luckiest person alive because you see Safelite in Saint James literally 200 feet in front of you, keep driving and find yourself a different windshield replacement or repair company. This shop did two jobs on two different cars, my work car and most recently my wife's car. When they repaired my work car, I noticed the gasket which sits flush between the windshield and the body frame was missing and there was just a gap between the two. I inquired about it only to be told that the gasket is just for design and offers no waterproofing protection, as that's provided by the adhesive and channel that sits behind the windshield. That being the case, although not happy about it, it was my work car and I wasn't paying for it, so I let it go. Enter wifey's car. Had to drive her to work in my car since we had to drop hers off for a late morning appointment. Picked it up today only to find that there was a lot of wind noise once my wife drove over 50 mph. When she called to question them about it, she was told to come back in 5 days for a midday appointment during the week because they "probably need to add some more adhesive" but may have to do a "bigger job", whatever the hell that means, if that doesn't work. Bottom line, this is a glass repair/replacement company. That's literally all they are supposed to know how to do. If I were a neurosurgeon, I should know how the brain functions. Otherwise, I'm just a guy with some tools. Don't waste your time, or your money. Find a professional the first time. UPDATE: So since my first review, we've had to bring my wife's SUV back in two more times and finally have someone come to the house. That's right, three more Safelite visits! So here's the story. The second time we brought the car in, we idiotically brought it right back to Saint James to fix the job they botched the first time. Wife drove the car off the lot and, surprise, wind noise still present. So we called Safelite and got an appointment to bring the car to their Hauppauge location. Dropped it off and went to breakfast, and a half hour in to breakfast got a call from Hauppauge apologizing and saying we'd have to bring our car back another day. Why? Because instead of the Saint James location taking the windshield off and fixing their botched job the first time, they just added a shitload of adhesive to the windshield making it impossible for Hauppauge to remove the moldings or clips without breaking them. So now we needed a bunch of parts ordered. A week later, an awesome tech from the Hauppauge location came to our house to fix it and did an amazing job. He showed me the photos he took of the Saint James failure, and I took some of my own. They're enclosed here so you can see why to never take your car to the Safelite in Saint James. read more

We are so disappointed. We had a windshield replaced a while back which was a complete disaster. The windshield leaked, the car had water damage and smelled like mold. Safelite had to replace all the carpets in our SUV. We wanted to give them another chance (first mistake) so we brought another vehicle to them. They didn't put the rubber seal back in properly so we tried ourselves to fix (2nd mistake) which it did but the windshield needed to be replaced again from a crack and they refused to fix it!!! They claim that the windshield had a leak and they saw rust, mind you the van is a 2012!! There was no leak, they just suck and didn't put the rubber gasket in properly. I would not recommend this business. They are incompetent and their customer service is terrible. Sorry to the workers but this is the facts. We will never be using this business again!! I would give a zero for stars but that was an option. read more

I made an appointment with a week's advance notice for my windshield to be fixed. When I arrived for my appointment they took my car and two hours went by with no updates. When I asked for a status update only then was I told they ordered the incorrect windshield and were getting the correct one. The entire repair took several hours longer than it should have and no one bothered to even tell me what was going on. The following day I noticed the molding at the top of my windshield was not properly reinstalled and popping up on both sides. There isn't even a number directly to the location and I now have to wait for their customer service center to reach out to the specific location to see how they can fix it. Our Truck had a stone hit the windshield right in the line of sight the technician came we explained if they filled the crack it would still be in our line of sight so the checked out and verified that was the case and ordered a new windshield and two days later came and did a great job installing it we are very happy with Safelite always good always professional always done right. Made an appointment thru Hartford who recommended Safelite AutoGlass. The closest shop was in St. James. They made an appointment for today between 8am and 1:30pm. I sat around for 6 hours waiting for them. When no one showed I called their office. They said they would call me back. They didn't. When I tried them back, there was no answer. When I called their main number, they transferred me in. They said they did not know what happened but they did not have my windshield and no one was coming. This is the worst service I've ever seen. I WILL NEVER USE NOR RECOMMEND SAFELITE. THERE TV ADS ARE FULL OF SHIT. read more

What a garbage company. I needed a new windshield through insurance and they came on March 25 (3 week wait) and when they came they broke the windshield. Like, you literally have one job. Now; no windshield at all in my truck they rescheduled for April 8 (another 3 week wait) and now, today, April 8, they never show up and instead I get an email stating my new appointment is April 21. In another 2 weeks! A month to maybe get a windshield?!?! I still don't have glass in my truck at all rn btw. Bullshit. I'm probably gonna have to get a third party company out of pocket to get my truck going again at this point. How is this acceptable?! read more

The technician came early, which was fine. The window seemed to be installed well, but once we drove it, we now see that the rubber molding that goes around the windshield keeps coming out. We try to push it in, but the minute we drive again, out it pops...so it basically is blowing in the breeze. I believe the technician knew when he did the repair, because he told my husband that there is nothing he can do about it. read more

I had a wonderful experience at this Safelite location. My Mercedes Benz S550 needed a special rose tint windshield that they did not have in stock. The gentleman (Danny) at the front desk made a quick phone call and within 2 hours the new windshield was installed and all the electronics was calibrated! The interior of the car was immaculate! Horrible customer service. Came here to have my driver side window replaced on Saturday 3/27. Since this location was 30 minutes from my house, I made arrangements so I can drop the car off and they can take their time fixing it. I received a call an hour later saying they aren't able to fix my car and that I can come pick it up. Very upset I asked them what am I going to do without a window? When would I be able to get this fixed? To which the guy on the phone didn't have an answer other than saying the next appointment available is 2 weeks out but that he will try to squeeze me in earlier "because, you know, I do the scheduling." His sarcasm did not help the situation. Immediately after our phone call I called my insurance company, who then called the shop and that's when he decided to tell me he would put in a temporary glass so my car won't get vandalized. He stated he would call me back to set up a new appointment during the week. But why couldn't he tell me this on the phone before?? Anyways, the shop never called me back as they said they would. I called my insurance to set up another appointment, which was 2 weeks out, 4/12, but at the Westbury location. The guys at the Westbury location were so nice and stated I had the correct parts all along, but the St James location did not want to be bothered to fix it at that moment. All this added aggravation only to be told that my window could of be fixed weeks ago if this location would of taken the time to do so. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced and I will most definitely not be going back. Although the Westbury location is on the opposite end of the island, I will gladly take the trip to make sure I am properly taken care of. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Don't expect alot of customer service. Get you in and out. Bare bones setup. A couple of couches and a coffee table. A flat screen TV in the front, they won't win any interior decorator awards. Most of the time there's nobody there up front. There's no buzzer on the door or bell on the counter either, so you're either waiting for some to come out or yelling to the back and hope someone hears you. This is a waste of customers time and just a poor setup. Spend a buck and buy a bell for the front counter. The work that I needed done was good this time. A previous time, the windshield was installed and not properly sealed so I had to bring it back to get it fixed. It's seems to be hit or miss with this place. read more

DESPITE MULTIPLE REQUESTS, WAS NEVER SENT A SURVEY... ONLY AN INVITE TO YELP OR FACEBOOK FORCING ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA.... SO RATHER THAN A CONFIDENTIAL SHARING OF MY EXPERIENCE... IT WILL BE ON YELP. WAY TOO many reminders (both texts and emails) ... at least 8 one of which was at 7:10 in the morning and then received the calibration confirmation text after 10pm. Ridiculous and annoying. One of the reminders was from the staff member calling me while I was in the Safelite waiting room. She was reminding me for the next day, while my appt was that day for which I had already checked in. Received a text at 1:10 that my car windshield repair was in progress. However, while I was in the waiting room after 40 minutes was advised by the rep. that the windshield ordered for my car was scratched. I was quite upset that I had to reschedule and puzzled why this was not discovered earlier. When handed the key - it was for a different honda... not mine... mistake on the part of the rep. my car windshield was fine and repair in progress. Got all worked up for nothing. · Was told 2-3 hours (for which I took an afternoon off from work). Ultimately only took one hour to replace the windshield. When I asked why I was told 2-3 hours (I didn't have to take a whole afternoon from work) I was advised that was in case there were problems... perhaps that could be clearer by stating it USUALLY takes an hour, but could take longer for unexpected issues. · I left the repair shop 2pm. After checking the receipt paperwork became concerned that it stated "To allow the adhesive to set properly, your technician has calculated the safe drive-away time to be t 2:29pm. You shouldn't drive your vehicle until after this time" I drove over very rough roads/pot holes after leaving. Very concerning would this jeopardize the glue seal? · Also, told I could remove the tape after an hour or so... paperwork states 2 wait at least 2 hours. Again concerning would this jeopardize the glue seal? · The 1:10pm notification that the replacement service has started states "When your vehicle is ready, your technician will provide a service summary and pick up instructions". Well I was waiting so no pick up instructions needed, but I did not receive the appropriate service summary regarding waiting till 2:29 pm to drive the car, nor correct tape removal timeline. (see above) · Receipt states my car was vacuumed... where? Certainly not the front passenger or driver area back nor front? What was vacuumed? It would have been a nice perk. · Receipt states exterior windows cleaned... NOT... same dirt that was there when I drove in was there when I drove out. · Recalibration camera confirmation guarantee states only for 12 months (or next calibration). My first experience with this shop was 2 weeks ago when they arrived to change my windshield and showed up with the wrong windshield. I said ok -- things happen, and the next appointment was made for this past Saturday. The appointment window was 8AM to 12 Noon. At 2PM, called the shop to make sure the tech was still coming. I was told "he got hung up on an earlier job, I'll call him now and call you back with an update". No one ever called me back. At 3:30PM, I called back and was almost instantly told "he's on his way to you now". I couldn't understand how the rep I spoke to knew that so quickly, but I took his word for it and assumed the tech was on his way. No one showed up that day, and there was no phone call telling me that. This was on 12/21/19, and half of the last weekend before Christmas was spend waiting for a technician that would never show up -- not doing important things that needed to be done. It is absolutely unacceptable that I was lied to, and told the tech was on his way. Am I supposed to trust this shop will do honest work on my vehicle, when they can't even be honest about a technician showing up? I will never use this shop again, and it makes me question Safelite as a whole, if this is the type of people they have working for them. Save yourself the hassle and use a different shop. read more

I had issues with the Safelite Auto Glass in Selden (see my review) and I made it clear that I was not going back there again. They sent me to the St. James location, I was greeted by Jim, the manager and explained the issue. He listened to what I had to say, offered me coffee in their spacious and clean waiting room with magazines and TV (they even let you hold the remote!). The work took about 1 hour and my vehicle was clean and ready to go. Why I'm only giving 4 stars. It is a toss up. As far as the place, the personnel and the service, I GIVE IT 5 STARS! The problem is that I still have noise issues coming through the top of my windshield, Jim has offered to fix/replace it to get rid of it, but I feel not much else can be done and I'm stuck with it. But I will try again. If you need auto glass work done I would recommend this place. read more

Do yourself a favor and find a place that values your business and will treat you with some dignity. After being disregard and treated us if my time and business was of no importance to Safelite. My Tech was abusive and disgruntled from the very start of our interactions to the very end. At one point he could not even bother to be mildly decent or cordial instead resorting to threatening me after already starting replacement of my windshield to in his words " I did not even wanna work today I don't even wanna fucking do this job ". From the very beginning communication from them to me was poor not even bringing the right glass on my first appointment. And then on my second appointment I was treated like a garbage. I work in St James and called my ins. co and made appt with Safelight down the street. Tommy called me back within three minutes. He came to my parking lot & fixed my windshield on my year old car. It had a little pea sized divot from parking lot cleaners at Whole Foods. It is so spectacular now, you cannot tell it ever had a chip! I am so happy & highly recommend them. The manager and technicians of the store are friendly and helpful. To be honest, not a smooth experience at all, but they got the job done, so basically I'm happy. I made an appointment for windshield replacement in advance. On Thursday morning, I left my vehicle at the shop. On the afternoon I got a call from the manager saying that "The windshield is abnormal, don't have it in stock, need to order" AFTER they have already taken off my damaged one. I was offered two options, one is leave my vehicle there for a night and wait for the new windshield come in, or the other option is they throw in some other regular windshield temporarily and I could take it away and come back later. I only wish they could have told me about that BEFORE taking off my original one, so I chose to leave it there for a night. On Friday morning, I got a call from the manager saying that "the windshield they ordered was not delivered due to bad weather." yes I admit that was a heavy rain last night, cannot complain when the weather trying to screw you. On Saturday, I finally was able to pick up my vehicle, but the pre-collision safety system of my vehicle was off due to unknown reason (re-calibration was performed), and they told me to come back on Monday, and I DID ask "what is a good time to come on Monday?" they told me anytime the store is open. On Monday, I arrived the store 11am, and was told to come back on Tuesday since the experienced technician was not there...... :-( On Tuesday, finally they somehow figured out the trick to make my pre-collision safety system working again. Conclusion, not a excellent experience, but at least I can tell the store took their responsibility, and I got my vehicle fully functioning and brand new windshield read more

So my driverside door window had a crack in it. Contacted safelife thru my insurance and set up an appt. No problem. The tech comes to my home to fix the glass. He see that I have tints on my windows. Without even saying a word, he goes ahead and replaces the window. Afterwards he goes, so you have tints on your windows and since they are illegal we were not able to put a tinted glass back in your car. So my first thought and words were why didn't you say that before you went ahead and change my glass, am I suppose to drive around with unmatched doors. He was like you can go get the glass tinted because unless it's a manufacture installed tint we do not put tinted glass in cars, and he repeats, "its illegal in NYS". Dude this is my car, and I pass inspection every inspection. My tint isn't black which means it is a legal tint based on the measurements giving to DMV or whoever for inspection. So of course, I asked for a manager. Tim the manager (I guess he is a mgr.) called very rude and disgusting advised that the tints were not installed by the manufacture and its not our problem. He started preparing the conversation for a hang up on me. I then advised him that he was being rude and disrespectful for no reason. Again rude manager Tim advised "we don't do tints take it up with your insurance if they will pay for it then we will exchange it out." He contined, Ma'am that is between you and your insurance company. I said well have your guy put my glass back in my car because I am not going to drive around with unmatch windows. I have a nice Lincoln MKs and this looks crazy. He should have told me this before he took my window out. Ma'am we don't do tints take it up with your insurance I can't help you and no we will not put your old glass back in the car. You need to deal with it. Tim was a little obnoxious and disrespectful. It's because the customer is at your mercy and you already did the damage to the customers car and got paid so who cares, go away un-satisfied customer go away. That is the attitude I got. The tech was nice and respectful but that manager Tim at the St. James location was rude and horrible to me. Now I have used safelite many times in the past. But I don't feel I am getting the best service if I have to deal with attitudes and a person who definitely did not give a flying You Know What about my feelings or the service I recieved. We had to get the windshield on our truck replaced. Of course Progressive recommended Safelite -- since all insurance companies are working with them currently. We really didnt mind the recommendation as long as it was done in a timely manner. We could not drive the truck at all without the cops being upset. In the commercials Safelite promises to come ASAP. This is in no way the case. They could not find time for us until the following week. Moreover they cancelled the appointment twice. By the time they were thinking about coming we had gone to be a better place in deer park and had the windshield done that same day. read more

Thus causing me to drive in an unsafe vehicle, return to North Carolina and ultimately need a Dealership to repair the damage costing $700, incur Car Rental and additional Insurance Costs and Lose Days Off having to spend countless hours on the phone dealing with this and running around to places for repairs.
