I'd rate the online experience 1-star. When I ordered service, there was no online mention that the windshield would not be OEM. You can order an OEM windshield, but you have to order by phone. Now as far as installation. My installation technician was Chris. He gets 5-stars for knowledge, skill and friendliness. If you need your windshield replaced, call the local office (505 number) instead of going online. And ask if Chris can do your installation. Tell Chris the recording studio house guy recommended him. read more

I went in for windshield replacement a month ago. They returned the vehicle to me with numerous workmanship issues, including a misaligned windshield, a crack on the upper edge of the windshield, a cracked cowl, damage to a cowl mounting hole, missing fasteners under the hood, misaligned trim issues, and a visible gap near the right side cowl where water could easily leak into the engine area, bypassing the drainage bay. I had to point out these problems myself before they were even acknowledged. I was initially told by the manager that replacement parts would be ordered in a few days and the repair would be corrected quickly. Nearly a month later, multiple appointments have been cancelled, I still have no clear timeline, and management has been unable to provide tracking information or a meaningful update on when the replacement parts would arrive, despite the parts being readily available for order. They have cancelled and rescheduled multiple appointments at the last minute and rescheduled to a time of their choosing without even asking me what works. At this point, the repair remains unresolved and I no longer have confidence in this location's workmanship or follow-through. read more

We were on a road trip, a rock hit our windshield and cracked it. We had the chip repaired here and were told if the repair didn't hold that the money we spent to repair would go toward a windshield replacement. We got home to CA, the crack spread and we had to replace the windshield. After numerous phone calls Santa Fe will not honor their guarantee and process our refund. Would not recommend going here for a chip repair. We have contacted customer service as suggested several times. They always promise to call back and take care of it and so far no credit and no response!!! read more

Called the national help line - they had no idea where the installer was or why no one contacted us. In the email confirming the appointment they claim: "Safelite will keep you updated with timely notifications regarding your service before and during your appointment." A tech installed a new windshield, which leaked. A month later, another tech came out to fix it, putting epoxy on the edges. I was living in a home with a garage and did not know the windshield still leaked until the following summer, when it started raining regularly and my car was uncovered. My car's carpet, padding, etc. started growing mold. It was a mess. Safelite finally sent a competent tech, who replaced the windshield and took photos of the errors of the two previous techs. But getting the mold remediated? That took weeks, as no one from Safelite would call me back. I finally filed an insurance claim for the $5,000 mold remediation. It took over a month for remediation. I called Safelite nearly daily during this time to see if they would pay my deductible, but no one called me back. I asked to speak to supervisors, and still no one called me back. I will never use this disastrous company again. read more

at the moment I walked in there was nobody at the front desk. Had to walk into the shop to get somebody to help. that wasn't the biggest issue understand people can get busy at times, but once I picked up my car, there was shards of glass on the seat that I had to pull out of my hands. They also left glass all over the carpet and on top of that left a big scratch on the left pillar of my Porsche. I emailed and gave them a call. They let me know the shop call me back still have never heard back from them. read more

I agree with the other 1* reviews here. We had the rear window broken out of our brand new Sprinter van. There were issues setting up the appt but the main problems came with and after the work. The tech didn't show up til 5:30 in the afternoon even though the appointment was hours earlier. He had trouble removing the old window and used a power grinder that scratched off the paint to the metal in several places. He placed the new window incorrectly, skewed to one side and cockeyed. He also replaced the windshield wiper incorrectly. We called the office to discuss the paint damage and incorrect install and were told it was our fault. They claimed it was glass raining from the broken window that scratched the paint and would provide no compensation or touch-up paint. Luckily, my wife videoed the work and it was clear from that when and where he damaged the paint. After many phone calls and talks with managers, they finally sent out a competent tech to replace the window correctly. I had reinstalled the wiper correctly already so that the spray would work. Originally, we just requested that they purchase touch-up paint for us so we could protect the metal but after all that hassle we insisted they pay for repainting the rear door that was scratched. It was a huge hassle and we would have been totally SOL of we didn't have proof of their damaging the paint. Discount Auto Glass and Glazing has done excellent work for us and is who we'll take our business to from now on. read more

"Certified technician" Patrick Vance replaced the windshield on our car at our home as part of Safelite's mobile service. He arrived, groughly asked for access to the vehicle, and showed my wife the new windshield. He replaced the windshield, rang the doorbel, and told my wife the keys were "in it" and immediately left without giving her the opportunity to check his work. As it turned out, Patrick installed the incorrect piece of glass and did a poor job in doing so. Upon my inspection I noted: 1. There was a 1/4" wide strip of eurethane gasket material protruding along the inside of the driver's side A pillar for probably 8-10 inches. 2. The windshield was installed off-center by nearly half an inch to the passenger side. Aside from being aesthetically unpleasing, this left a physical gap between the top driver's side moulding and the glass edge of the windshield. 3. Patrick's greasy black fingerprints were all over the beige interior of the car (A pillar, headliner, etc). 4. The glass was the wrong piece. The tinting at the base of the windshield did not come up high enough to conceal the inside of the A-pillar behind the interior trim. This was incredibly noticeable from the exterior. 5. At the top of the cowling (base of the windshield were two large globs of eurethane that were clearly obvious upon inspection and served no purpose (as he later indicated they were to "hold down" the "old rubber" molding). We filed a warranty claim with Safelite, and Patrick returned to fix his work. I marked each discrepancy with a small piece of painter's tape so I would remember to address each issue in turn with him. When he arrived for the warranty work, I went outside to find him with 4 or 5 pieces of the tape removed from the windshield. He immediately demanded "Well, what's wrong with it?!" After explaining the significance of the tape markers he was removing, he immediately began defending his awful tradesmanship all the while telling me "This windshield is installed correctly, or you wouldn't be able to read the VIN in the window at the bottom!" As I pointed out to him, even the VIN was off-center in the window. I asked what more could be done because I was not satisfied with his work. He called his manager at the shop (Joshua Blevins) who agreed to meet with me later that afternoon. While on the phone, I witnessed him making false claims to the manager that there's "not a thing wrong" with the windshield, but the customer wanted to see him anway. Bottom line, Patrick Vance is not to be trusted to service your automobile. If you choose this Safelite, and Patrick arrives, just send him away! He is not trustworthy, shoddily performs his vocation, and takes no pride in his work or your vehicle! read more

I then used the number she gave me for the store and called five times. no voicemail box and no answer. At 4:50 I tried to look at my appointment details on the website and they were gone, prompting me to schedule a new appointment. I called corporate again and the rep told me that the "tech wasn't available today" and asked if I wanted to schedule another appointment. these guys are the worst company i have ever dealt with. a friend and myself made appointments with safelite and they didnt call or show up once. then they wanted to charge me for canceling although them not calling or showing up and wasting my f time, warranted a cancellation!! i called corporate and they acted like they knew what was going on. when i went to the shop noone knew what was going on. how are you still in business!!??? do not waste your time making an appointment with them, they will not call or show up. and any number the corporate office gives you, noone will answer because its all just a con. im sure santa fe isnt the only place they fail so do yourself a favor, people and find a local shop to help out. they are being reported to the bbb. hope this would do something. but i doubt it. just close shop already. its insulting to anyone who needs help and confides in a business to only be treated like a joke. your website conveniently has a high rating which is where i made my initial mistake in trusting them. but listen to the reviews from actual customers. terrible communication and just terrible customer service. you should be ashamed to even work there. read more

Was told by "customer service" that I had an appointment for inspection on 7/27 at 07:00. I drove 2 1/2 hours for the appointment only to find the office locked. I tried to file a claim today only to be told they couldn't come to me to fix my windsheild. That I would have to go to Santa Fe which is about an hour away. I am recovering from surgery and cannot drive to Santa Fe. If you people say you can come to one's car to fix it, you should be able to do that. Post update review: Safelite charged twice what other places in town estimated. I made the mistake of going with them because they are Geico's only authorized glass repair in the state. Given this monopoloy, they know they have a scam going, and literally charged twice what other shops estimated. Conveniently just under my Geico deductible. Go somewhere local. Get estimates before you commit to anything. Safelite is banking on you being gullible and going with the insurance partner without doing your research. I got screwed. Trying to help you not get screwed. Additional Update: 1) Safelite did not provide any option for different qualities of glass. Following the windshilef replacement, there i now a loud sound from the engine which sounds like a blown out speaker. A Safelite technician inspected the seal and informed me that the glass he installed is inferior to the Subaru OEM Glass (again: I was never given an option) and this glass is less acoustically sealed, so they decline any responsibility for the fact that this 2018 in-great-shape car is now louder than an old jeep on the inside. So for the record: 1) Safelite charged more than twice what local shops charge 2) Safelite installed inferior glass for twice the price and assumes ZERO responsibility 3) the glass has waves - it is not, in fact, clear. The wave in the glass are very obvious. Oh! But I can "chat" with an agent? Gosh how comforting. That should fix everything. A nice little "chat" with a bot. read more

We made an appointment over a week ago to have our windshield replaced at our home between 8am and noon on Monday 4/22/24. We got e-mails from Safelite AutoGlass confirming and reminding us. No one showed. My wife called Safelite AutoGlass and the person could not reach the technician or the dispatcher. She left a message for them to call us back. no one called back, so she called again an hour later. It turns out the Manager told the technician to skip us. Back to rescheduling, but I will pursue other options in the future. read more

The service is great but it's pricey, even if you go to them, and I truly believe they use a profoundly subpar, cut rate product. After going years with my original windshield unscathed, I finally got a chip. Safelite replaced it for $470 (my insurance doesn't cover it) 2 weeks later came the first star crack, overnight it spread to a 6 inch crack before I could even take it to get it filled. Every rock leaves a ding or crack and after one year I now have 5 dings or star cracks and an 18" horizontal crack across the windshield. I will be replacing it soon and going elsewhere. read more

Safelite AutoGlass was a BIG DISAPOINTMENT. I went online to schedule an appointment to have the back window replaced on a 2002 Subaru Outback wagon. All information required was entered and was never mentioned that it was out of stock. After 3 weeks of getting told it was out of stock and price would increase to get it from an Original Material Manufacturer (OEM). They recommended we search on our own with local businesses. Safelite was paid upfront when I scheduled appointment. Long story short: *Safelite $933.08. after 3 weeks (couldn't find back window) *Five J's Auto Salvage $100 (had a back window) *Speedy Glass $50 to install back window. (back window installed in 1 hour) Five J's and Speedy took 1 day!!! And I saved $783.08. read more

After removing my windshield, they took my vehicle out back and told me they could not put a new windshield in because there was rust on the mating surface. They said I would have to get an auto body shop to remove the rust. This was on a Saturday at noon when most body shops are closed. I was left to scramble making calls on my cell phone to find someone who could help. I had to drive the vehicle around west Santa Fe with no windshield to get to the body shop guy who agreed to come and see me on a Saturday. He was shocked at why I was there, not believing that the glass repair shop would not address the rust. He said I should have come to him for the glass repair. He graciously took the car in and used his sanding tool to remove the rust and brush applied some black primer to the mating surface. He charged me $50 but I gave him $80 for helping me in a desperate situation. When I took the car back to Safelite, they appeared shocked that I was back with the mating surface cleaned up. Then I had to wait another 2 hours for them to put the glass in. I am completely flabbergasted that they would put a customer in such a situation. In my opinion, they should not be in the business of glass replacement if they are not equipped to deal with addressing the range of conditions encountered in that process. read more

The morning of my re-scheduled appointment, received a text and email at 8:00 am introducing me to my tech Chris, who was scheduled to come out to my home between 12:00 and 4:30. Also signed up to receive texts on status of service call and arrival of technician. Thought what great service!! And then nothing, no calls, no emails, no texts and no service. Crickets!!! Went to log in to my Safelite Dashboard where I had been tracking my request and it no longer exists. Eight months after installing a new rear window on a 30 month old vehicle, the replacement window essentially exploded while driving down a NM Highway. There was no impact involved at all. The Safelite technician tried to wave off the breakage as an underlying defect in the vehicle, not an issue with materials or the installation of the first replacement window. Caveat emptor... don't do business with this company. They have no sense of ownership or responsibility for their product or service. read more

Canceled my Monday morning appointment on Friday at 5:00pm. When I made the appointment, my appointment confirmation stated "your windshield is in stock". The person I spoke with said that this information was incorrect and that they had to order the new windshield but did not know how long it would take to get it. My husband missed half a day at work waiting for Safelite to come (confirmed someone would be here between noon and 5pm) with no one ever showing. Finally come to find out they won't work on our car as it's too old but we have a quote and confirmation of appointment and no one contacted us to tell us, they just deleted our appointment/account. If that's your policy fine, but maybe tell the customer so they can make other plans and not have anyone miss work for no reason. Not satisfied about this at all. read more

I visited the Santa Fe Safelite a week ago on a Saturday morning. My insurance company sent me to them, but I did not make an appointment yet, as I wanted to see what they said about the crack in my windshield and whether or not I should get it fixed or replaced. I also wanted to learn what was involved in replacement, e.g., how much time it would take, whether or not they would use OEM glass. There were no other customers there at the time, and what appeared to be the person in charge was eating a sandwich. They were not actively working on any car. He was unpleasant from the start when he found that I had no appointment, and he couldn't even bother to stop eating and chat for a minute. I tried to be as pleasant as possible and said I just wanted them to look at the windshield and get more information. Both he and his more-pleasant colleague gradually walked out to the front of the store, but they would not even look at my car. The man with the sandwich was so unprofessional and unpleasant that I called my insurance company and told them I would not be using this Safelite branch. When a company acts as if they are doing me a favor, I will go elsewhere. read more

I took my car here for a windshield replacement. I waited in the lobby for about 3 hours to be told that they couldn't finish the job because the system had to be recalibrated and told me I would have to come back in two weeks to get that done. I came back in two weeks, waited another three hours for the recalibration only to drive away and see that the plastic piece behind my rearview mirror was just hanging there, no longer attached. Went back to the shop and was told that the tech broke the cover and it couldn't be reattached and I would have to wait another week for them to order a new one. Three weeks later I got a call that it was in stock and I could come have it reattached. Luckily that only took a few minutes and I was on my way. UNTIL it snowed, and now the windshield is leaking all over my dashboard and everything is wet. I have no confidence that this place can fix their already poor work since I have spoken with multiple techs and managers and still haven't got a working windshield. Awful is the nicest thing I can say about these clowns. 2 missed appointments cancelled day of, claim windshield not in (which after the first missed appointment guaranteed there by second, nope), and the car is popular and everywhere else in Santa Fe has the windshield. You will spend hours dealing with clowns in a centralized center (you can never talk to the local place), who are fairly clueless, and then time spent changing all the insurance stuff around because you give up on Safelite. From my experience and reviews I have read this company has deep systemic problems with their systems (they know nothing about their own inventory and accurate delivery dates), they screw up a lot and seem amazingly incompetent. Thanks for wasting a lot of my time for absolutely nothing because Safelite is so horribly run. I also checked at having this done by Safelite where my son is taking the car for school and same horrible reviews, total incompetency appointments constantly cancelled, and awful work to boot. read more

Got a rock ding in the windshield that quickly resulted in a crack, that grew quickly. It was easy to get an appointment and our insurance paid for all but $100. They were ready for us when we arrived and got the job done within the time they said (or less). The only negative was that the waiting room was very small and uncomfortable - a TV and an empty refrigerator that was off. A small bottle of cold water would have been nice on a hot day. That being said, I would go back again if I needed their service. read more

I live in Taos and unfortunately had three separate windshield incidences in only the last year. First let me say I have never once received an email or text with more Info, credentials and a photo of my tech as their voicemail and on hold messages lead you to believe. The first guy repaired a chip my insurance covered. Check. Second my car was broken into in Santa Fe. The appointment was late (like way past the four hour window which we working people need honored) and the guy- he was at least nice- actually broke the door frame while fixing a shattered side window. They took two TWO months to fix that and I had to call them and remind them about five times. They set one appointment and canceled it HALF WAY through the day only to leave me responsible for getting another and explaining the issue again. They ordered the WRONG part the first time and waited an extra few weeks for a new one. thw actual tech responsible was not at allinvokved in this process or in fixing it. Soooo...The third chip a month ago was scheduled by progressive and I was told they couldn't drive all the way to Taos more than once a week (it's about a 1.5 hr drive) and it would be a month and a half. My appt is today and the chip has turned into four huge cracks so of course I need a new windshield and progressive won't pay. The cost went from 0 to $450 with a "discount" lol $25 off for inconvenience. Anyway I'm up at 8 for the 8-11 am appt and called because the usual email or text with the technician's name and credentials NEVER comes and when I call the guy on the phone says my tech needs to pick up the glass (this is after 8) in Santa Fe and then head here. That means, assuming he picks my repair appt first, he won't be here any sooner than 10am. I scheduled this as priority over a month ago and noted I had a doc appt after. And this guy said it just has to start repair by 11. So F*#% these guys. At least call and tell me you're to lazy to even leave Santa Fe till after the appointment time so this tired mama can get more sleep! I also just read a review by someone else who got help fixing the costs with their insurance so weird! Maybe they only help certain people. Anyway, I called them again to be clear on costs before I wrote a review and was told I could have come in shop to fix it sooner. That was the first I'd heard of that option and progressive and the initial phone rep for Safelite in ABQ didn't even mention a Santa Fe location. Now I know. ... I will say though as follow up that the last tech named Might (how cool is that name) ended up being really nice AND professional. No broken door. No beating around the bush. He just took care of business and did a good job. Progressive, that second tech, the ABQ call center and the original manager in ABQ for Safelite (who was on vacation and didn't bother to get anyone to help in his place) were the areas of this whole experience that definitely need some.... improving and make this one star a necessity at this point. read more

Trying to order two car windows replaced on same date and time with mobile service is impossible. Ordering on line gets you to different schedule times and dates. Can't talk to anyone on phone and can't link the time and dates together on the internet. Chat is a joke only sends you back to the online where you can't get them done at same time and date. I will go some where else to get them replaced. read more

Due to weather concerns, the technician was able to complete the work on the appointment date. Rescheduled for the following day and the entire Santa Fe team stayed late in order to install my window. That's great customer service!!! read more
